CIA: Hey We Knew Benghazi Was A Terrorist Attack On Day 1

Alternate title: CIA to Obama: Hey Barry, you know what's "not optimal"? Your sorry ass.

The CIA station chief in Libya reported to Washington within 24 hours of last month's deadly attack on the U.S. Consulate that there was evidence it was carried out by militants, not a spontaneous mob upset about an American-made video ridiculing Islam's Prophet Muhammad, U.S. officials have told The Associated Press.

It is unclear who, if anyone, saw the cable outside the CIA at that point and how high up in the agency the information went. The Obama administration maintained publicly for a week that the attack on the diplomatic mission in Benghazi that killed U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans was a result of the mobs that staged less-deadly protests across the Muslim world around the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks on the U.S.

I love them hemming and hawing about "how far up the chain did this go?". That's just the AP covering for their boyfriend.

Remember how people (rightly) complained about the CIA pretty much openly engaging in war against George W. Bush (think the ridiculous 2007 NIE on Iran's nuclear program)? Everyone talked about how the CIA was actually a hotbed of liberals. That may or may not be true but it's clear their political allegiance is first and foremost to their agency.

I'm not getting into kooky, "the spies are staging a take over" stuff but there is a much broader problem here with the CIA that needs to be straightened out. But that's a long term thing. In the near term, it's another line Mitt gets to use at the foreign policy "debate" on Monday (if the "moderator" shuts up long enough to let him).

Yeah, because the CIA station chief at the site of a major terrorist attack that killed a U.S. ambassador routinely dispatches his analysis with with the preface: "Not to be seen outside of direct middle management".

What a joke. If it weren't so deadly, it would be hilarious to watch these retards flail around with this "we're not corrupt and evil -- just ignorant and incompetent!" shtick.

20 The plan to blame the attack on a video was a twofer for al-obama using the "never let a crisis go to waste" mentality. First was to distract from the administration's failure to protect our people. Second was to use the incident to add leverage to restrict freedom of speech. I suppose it also evolved into an angle to bow to muzzies given what he also said in his UN speech - "The future does not belong to those who insult islam". That really is a telling, and chilling, statement. God help us if we don't get him and his ilk out of office.

23 I think CIA gave weapons to Libyan "rebels". It has been already reported Amb Stevens was in Benghazi to get the weapons back. It has been already reported that weapon from Libya are pouring into Gaza and used against Israeli helicopters.

The administration is running from the collapse of its ME policy. But I think the CIA was very pro-Obama in that they are also Islamicists.

CIA will not turn on the JEF but they will defend themselves. The most that will happen is that a midlevel functionary will take the hit for not forwarding the intel up the chain fast enough.

But it is all a lie. They knew it was terrorism all along. I think the cover up is to hide the level of cooperation they have with regimes that are enemies of the United States, like the Muslim Brotherhood

26 did anyone bring this up? from yahoo news:

Vice President Joe Biden used controversial language to describe the GOP agenda in an exchange with an audience member in Las Vegas Thursday.

Biden referenced "Young Guns," the book the Republican vice presidential nominee, Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., co-wrote with House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., and Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., in his speech to union workers at the Culinary Academy of Las Vegas Events Center.

"They have guns but no bullets," a member of the crowd shouted.

"Unfortunately, the bullets are aimed at you," Biden replied, pointing at the man who had spoken and prompting laughter from the audience.

The vice president added that Republicans were dividing the country by talking about "a culture of dependency."

This is indeed the heart of the matter and the true reason for the cover-up.

No State Department person lower than Hillary is going to refuse the requests from an Ambassador unless it is policy to do so.

Obama's policies made this attack possible. He is directly responsible for the "not optimal" outcome.

It is my opinion that our collective image of the CIA as a bumbling, inept, organization has been carefully crafted by the agency. Every stumble and misstep makes it into the NY Times and Washington Post, but any successes are buried and sealed for 25 years.

That is not to say that there aren't people at Langley who are operating as political animals. I am sure that there are. Just like any other organization (public or private sector), there are yes men and sycophants who get ahead by kissing ass and sabotaging their competition.

CIA, which is a clandestine organization, is more likely to publish NIE's that give misinformation than the truth. The 2007 Iranian nuke info is case in point. They may have said that Iran's program was a no-go in their NIE, but the "stuxnet" operation leads me to believe that they thought otherwise. Those kinds of operations don't happen overnight, and "stuxnet" was probably at some planning stage when the NIE was issued.

It's not just the CIA. The entire executive branch is rotten with mandarins who fancy themselves above the law.

You cannot just fire them. The lefty kind have a support network in place with readily available sinecures in the MFM, any of hundreds of lefty non-profits and NGOs, academia, congressional staffs, state and local governments, government contractors, or ideologically sympathetic private sector companies. They can hold their breath for the four, eight, or twelve years before the man at the top is changed out so they can come back into the game.

Of course. That and he'll be conveniently armed with various 'transcripts' that support Obama's lies....but nothing at all to support Romney. Heck, even his name, 'Bob Schieffer', is coincidentally the very same sound he makes with Obama's dick in his mouth.

At least the Romney camp is aware that they will not get a fair chance at these debates.....though why they agreed to allow all three moderators to be die hard liberal scum, is beyond me.

This is really easy:

1. The Obama admin got caught with it's pants down around it's ankles.

2. Happened on 9/11, after there were warning of attacks being planned.

3. Happened after Obungle claimed to have AQ on the run.

4. Happened after security was removed, and downgraded by the Obismal admin.

5. And of course, the primary reason for lying so desperately, and for so long....it happened when Obama was fighting an uphill battle for reelection.

yes but the trailer to the movie was not decried by the Imams owned by Muslim Brotherhood, or shown on Egyptian TV, until there was a video released by the spiritual head of Al Qaeda saying that revenge must be taken for the death of Al Libbi.

In other words, the order for revenge came out first, and then based on that signal the Imams complained and the Egyptian govt (muslim brotherhood) broadcast the film in order to provide the crowds. All planned

Our problem is we don't look at our enemies as they see themselves. We look at them through the lens of our own views.

Thierno said the Islamists were taking advantage of their newfound

Only partially correct. The Egyptian embassy protest was actually originally announced on August 30th. It was organized by Jamaa Islamiya which is a State Department named terrorist group. The protest was organized to demand the release of the blind sheik.

Once the movie trailer was announced, the Noor party which holds about 25% of the seats in the Egyptian parliament, instructed their people to pile on.

There were also protests at the embassies in Tunisia and Yemen on the following days and there is a bunch of information publicly available linking them to terrorists, all in coordination.

189 CIA has a nasty habit of confusing what is best for the CIA with what is best for the country. With Iraq the CIA often seemed fixated on old scores from what had been a huge CIA failure, their urging on of Iraqi insurgents in 1991. It got a lot of Iraqis killed in horrible ways to no effect after the political decision was made not to attempt the push on and topple Saddam Hussein.

It's ironic. FDR started the OSS because he worried that the intelligence operations that operated inside other agencies served those agencies instead of the President. Its successor has ended up serving itself.

That makes sense to me since it would explain the massive "outrage" over something that was, by all accounts, not really that outrageous. I mean, after all, if they were just looking for something to be outraged at there is tons of stuff out there far more "offensive" than this video for them to use.

But, to them, that material would be *genuinely* blasphemous so they needed some "faux-blasphemy" to get enraged at.

Enter the "Evil Video".

As for the CIA their biggest problem seems to be that they continue to be more of a fraternity than an intelligence agency.

Somewhere in my pile of stuff I have a timeline of security related incidents involving Aldrich Ames which transpired during his agency career. If he hadn't been a "legacy" he wouldn't have lasted two years on the job, but because he was "family" things were overlooked and swept under the rug- right up until he was arrested.

I'm convinced the main reason Government is so bloated is because they need a barrel of monkeys to pin blame on if something goes wrong.

222 If a moron like me knew this within days of the attack then there is no way in hell, regardless of what the CIA did or didn't do, that Obama didn't know this.

JackStraw, how would he know it if he never meets with his security advisers. He knows what Valerie Jarratt lets him know.

I always tried to tell you guys that the 'robot' meme was patently false. Actually someone, can't remember, threatened to punch Romney in the 2008 race and he responded off the cuff , that its okay just don't mess with the hair. His pretty quick with the wit.

224 Secret Service parallel, “intel hits” what was known when...(Jake Tapper yesterday)

The Inspector General report contradicts Secret Service claim that corruption soliciting prostitutes and cover ups are not part of the SS culture. Aside from incidents occurring in Colombia, El Salvador and Panama, allegations of misconduct by agents includes
trips to Romania and China. Details from the report, labeled “law
enforcement sensitive,” were shared with ABC News by sources who had
reviewed it.

226 224 "The DHS inspector general has faced challenges in his investigation,
with 10 senior and current Secret Service officials refusing to grant
him or his investigators an interview." ABC News

Then what the hell good is DHS, supposedly the uberbrain that our Constitutional Republic lacked and "required" in order to assimilate intelligence?

Both Georgetown and Harvard have taken tens of millions of Saudi petrodollars for Islamic centers and other things.
If you wanted to buy influence, hard to imagine two better places. Other than the White House and Congress, which have also been enriched.

229 Remember all those quaint comparisons to Carter, and who was the all time worst?

Carter was a drifting, lefty suck pill sourpuss, but he couldn't hold a candle to this gaping chasm of commie corruption and ineptitude.

After all the unbelievable shite of the last 3 years, no one with half a brain and at least one oar in the water could make this moviepalooza loser up and then run with it for 2 fucking weeks.

230 Pick off peripheral agencies first.

The BATFE should go.

1) The FBI can absorb the actual duties now that they're more of an actual police force.

2) FF is a never-ending pile and will clearly have plenty of shameful crap if you purposely declassify and expose it. Which should be able to do.

Next up: TSA.

231 @181: The look on the policeman's face that Biden has his hand on is priceless. Should do a caption contest with that one.

233 In future, maybe the US Ambassador to anywhere even the slightest bit risky has to be given shooting lessons and an automatic rifle with bullets dipped in pork grease. That way, if the security detail fails and the Islamists nail him, at least he dies fighting on his feet, not on his hands and knees with a blunt object jammed up his arse. And as an added bonus, anyone he takes with him goes straight to hell.

236 Everyone will blame a midlevel functionary

We have a dead ambassador. That goes to the top. This isn't a standard 'The embassy Coke Machine is out of Sprite' type of event that the mid-level will deal with.

237 "It is unclear who, if anyone, saw the cable outside the CIA at that point and how high up in the agency the information went."

In other words, Obie's organization isn't very organized. The blame for that goes to the top, as it should.

Judging from LAWRENCE, That's not a class, that's a lingerie football team.

Look, I am doing the best job that I possibly can. I have fundraisers to
attend, campaign speeches to make and another debate to prepare for. I
can focus effectively on my job once I win this election thingy.
Frankly, if I wasn't black I highly doubt that I would be catching so
much crap for this.

I bet none of you haters even knew where Benghazi was before this less than optimal event happened.
