36 Screw Crowley AND TFG. My guy Romney brought up that since Obamacare passed Insurance premiums have gone up over $2000 per family, and will probably go up more.
Well I found out on Friday that my rates for the coming year, as a single person, are going up $148 per month, $1776 for the year. And that is just one year. My rates have also gone up a lot every year since that piece of garbage bill was passed. Right now I can't face looking that up.

I am going to tell every person I know that thanks to Obama, my insurance premiums have skyrocketed. And I am also going to ask them if they realize that this means that a lot of businesses will stop offering free insurance as a benefit.

I will pay my premiums, adjust my monthly budget to cover it, but I want that motherf**ker out of office.

2) her attempt to save the scoamf by ending the discussion and falsley claiming he was right prevented him from correcting his misspeak witha long fall asleep explanation on the spot and thats going to hurt later a lot

3) the press are going to have to focus on this now and its not going to be pretty.

4) this sets up the foreign policy debate and Mitt will nail him for this.

5) expect scoamf to blame hillary!

6) independants are going to be pissed that he lied to them on tv and that the moderator helped him lie.

38 The first and primary duty of any government to its citizens is the existence and future perpetuity of that state.

It is the very reason nation states came into existence--to protect individuals from marauding hordes and to do together what an individual cannot do for themselves--defend against that horde or an external threat.

When a government takes your resources, your taxes and cannot protect the citizens from an external threat--that government has a very fundamental problem.

National security is the raison d'ętre for the nation state--and foreign policy is almost completely in the realm of the Executive.

all faiths. We reject all efforts to denigrate the religious beliefs of

to imply that the video was the cause of the attack? Any violence can
be labelled as terrorism but the point is that this was a preplanned al
qaeda attack and not some demonstration that devolved into a violent
attack, which is the line the Obama administration had been pushing for
two weeks.

56 For the confused people:

It was an involved Romney-Obama back-and-forth.

Romney said something like "You jetted off to Vegas the next day and took two weeks to call it a terrorist attack."

Obama said something like "I called it a terrorist attack the very next day in the Rose Garden."

Romney "Really?!?"

Crowley "Yes, He's right"

Romney "Really?!?"

Crowley "Yes really, let's move on."

Checking the tape: It still says the same thing everyone else heard for two weeks: Video, protest out-of-control, attack violence, no excuse blah blah blah. Then there's a couple of very general paragraphs about American resolve in the face of adversity. And then the only mention of terror:

http://tinyurl.com/8jkkfng

As Americans, let us never, ever forget that our freedom is only
sustained because there are people who are willing to fight for it, to
stand up for it, and in some cases, lay down their lives for it. Our
country is only as strong as the character of our people and the service
of those both civilian and military who represent us around the globe.

No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation,
alter that character, or eclipse the light of the values that we stand
for. Today we mourn four more Americans who represent the very best of
the United States of America. We will not waver in our commitment to
see that justice is done for this terrible act. And make no mistake,
justice will be done.

I certainly didn't read his comments that day as meaning that -this- was a terrorist attack. And the week was spent asking "Wait, why are you calling this spontaneous? Isn't it obvious to you that this was a terrorist attack?" And... they stuck to the whole 'spontaneous protest' thing all the way through Rice's five Sunday shows.
Now we're to the moderator on the tape. No, she's still incoherent.

Romney should DEMAND and get Ms. Crowley to publically apologize at the beginning of the next debate and that the apology is shown on all the channels.
She stepped out of her neutral role, told a complete lie, and should be called on it. If she does not want to, the head of the debate commission should make the public apology in her place. CNN should consider whether she continues her employment.

85 So Obama says something completely false, Romney calls him on it instantly, Crowley rushes in to support Obama... and she says:

"They're gonna parse, and we all know about 'what the definition of "is" is'..."

Is she saying that the Obama camp is going to parse the Hell out of the Rose Garden speech to try to turn it into support for what Obama said? Or is she saying that the Romney camp is going to parse Obama's clear statement to try to make it false? Or what, exactly? My brain hurts, trying to understand her.

She finishes with "in the end, John is probably right" which I guess means she's agreeing Romney was correct.

it will be enough for romney to clarify the context and mention that crowley herself walked back her interjection on cnn immediately following the debate. most voters know that cnn is quite liberal, and those who think it's fair...well, think it's fair.

there's no reason for him to act like a whiny little toddler and demand an apology for an interjection that she tried to give him points on, too.

110 This is why I always listen to debates on the radio instead of watching them on TV. My impressions tend to be borne out by the general public a few days later. I knew Biden had blown the debate even before I saw his horrifying grins.

I fail to see how Romney "whiffed" anything tonight, even about Benghazi. On the radio, it was clear that Romney purposely got Obama to assert that he called the Benghazi attack a terrorist act in the Rose Garden.

It was equally clear that Romeny knew he hadn't, but he couldn't believe his luck and made sure that Obama repeated it. He actually said something like, "So just to make sure, you're going on the record saying you called it a terrorist act."

He knew what he was doing.

113 Don't blame Romney for the moderators. The fact is, Obama is too much of a pussy to debate without 100% liberal media MSM moderators, and without the debates, Romney could not have broken through the MSM facade to show what an empty chair Obama really is. He had no choice on this.

We have to change the culture, starting with the culture inside the Republican Party, so this never happens again. If Romney wins the presidency, he should not accept 4 liberal media moderators for the debates. He shouldn't accept even 1. He should demand conservatives or moderates. If the challenger doesn't like it, then fuck 'em, they don't get debates.

132 It was awfully moderated. Romney didn't look too great early, mostly because he was trying to figure out how to deal with it. Obama got the last word in, and left some juicy strawmen to knock down, but Romney didn't get to take swing at them without looking awkward.

He adjusted pretty well though. Given how biased Crowley was, he really eventually hit a nice stride. Great riff on the economy, and expertly handled the Bush question, and those might have been the most important 2 he got. He got in fast and furious, and that wasn't even responded to. A few voters, I believe, had to be looking that up. The lack of response should tell his team an ad might be in order.

He shouldn't give Obama questions to answer on his time. That's just a bad tactic that can lead to the polls we see where it polls overall one way but better on the issues. He didn't do well on Libya. To have Obama be able to pull off the faux outrage stunt plausibly at the end tells you that. Still, having who said what when in the newscycle the next few days should make that a pyrrhic victory for Obama. The pesky facts aren't on his side. Still, Candy gave him an assist it looked like even he was surprised to get.

At the end, Obama did his thing where he demeans people that work with their hands. Golden opportunity there for a comment on how a President with his employment record is in no position to lecture America on what jobs are worthy ones and which are not. Could have been devestating, but the fat moderator shut that one down and let Obama have the last word again.

Candy did her best to give Obama a boost, to some effect, but the issues Romney did best with are not only the most important ones, but the ones there is no further debate on. The areas Romney did worst on he gets another chance to close the gap with, and the pesky facts might help before then anyway if this is where the news cycle goes.

i always thought a better solution would be to actually wire the mics to turn off when the candidate's time is up.

no bias possible whatsoever...there's still the chance that a mod will be more hesitant to kill his favoured candidate if "well, he seemed to be wrapping it up at the time, so i let him go a few more seconds before cutting him off".

why not just hard-enforce the time limits?

This is interesting.

Looking at the Commentary Magazine article abot this I see that in the Rose Garden speech that Obama first referred to the 9/11 attacks, then shortly thereafterhe says, "And then last night, we learned the news of this attack in Benghazi."

The paragraph after next starts, "No acts of terror ..." This COULD actually be referring to ALL the attacks he was talking about. An objective reader might reasonably read it that way, although it is not real clear.

That could just be the speechwriter telling the truth, and Obama not noticing, or it could be WORSE. Doesn't it suggest - and didn't Obama SAY in this debate that he knew it was a terrorist attack ALL ALONG?

If so, isn't that an admission that when he and his people were spreading the "spontaneous demonstration" fiction, that he KNEW they were lying, and didn't set the story straight? That he carried that story forward himself?

Posted by: Optimizer at October 17, 2012 01:48 AM (4MJt/)

man, i'm glad someone else noticed obama's surreptitious snipe at manual labourers.

unless by "skilled" he means those high-wage jobs that cost companies $72/hr for someone to push a button on an assembly line for all the union fees and incommensurately large benefits packages, he really made a bad misstep that romney could have hit out of the park.

"we can tell you don't want unskilled jobs in the usa -- look how many you've worked to get rid of!"

Am I missing something here? How is it
possible that CNN Candy was so versed in the Rose Garden transcript language?
She of course was the only person that knew the questions to be asked. That
said she could not have known that SCoaMF would respond the "Act of
terror" out of context F'ing phrase and yet when Romney spoke to the real
timeline SCoaMF jumps on it, Romney fires back, the fat lady pounces, pounces
with both feet. Not an ounce of hesitation, Romney asks for a repeat, wants it
on the record, SCoaMF calmly tells Romney to proceed (hang yourself), Fat backs
it again. This could not have gone off any better if it was choreographed and rehearsed for weeks. I'm calling this as I see it a clear set up. I guess the
SCoaMF was saving this news that he knew the day after the attack it was
terrorism, wow. That is what he asking the flat liners/undecided to swallow and
let's face it if anyone is undecided at this time could be stupid enough to buy
that load of shit. The real timeline with video evidence is listed below.

right. There are some real openings here and there is a foreign policy

Romney worked it on two different levels:

1. He knew Obama had NOT said the attack was an act of terrorism, so he got Obama to lie and say he did.

2. He also got Obama to say that he "knew" from the start that is was terrorism, but if that were true, why did he spend two weeks claiming it was a spontaneous response to a movie?

Romney pulled off the incredible feat of getting Obama to tell two lies in one, both of which damage Obama, and Romney got him to do it on national TV, in a presidential debate, AND Romney did it on the spur of the moment, while being assaulted by planted questioners, a biased monitor, and an opponent who's a lying prick shielded by his race.

Romney just keeps getting more impressive.

I'm really struck at how everybody except Mitt Romney seems to be in denial that Obama's White House was calling Benghazi a "spontaneous demonstration" for at least a week and a half, and the Obama had the nerve to get all testy and insulted that they be accused of playing politics over it.

145 #144 "Obama had the nerve to get all testy and insulted"

You just reminded me of a saying that supposedly comes from lawyers: "When arguing a case, if the facts are on your side, pound on the facts. If the law is on your side, pound on the law. If neither the facts nor the law is on your side, pound on the table."

I think that "testy and insulted" bit was Obama pounding on the table. And frankly I can't think of a better thing he could have done; he really had no answer for that question, and he knew that the moderator and the MFM wouldn't call him on it.

What else might he have said? "We will figure out who denied the protection after the election?" "I know who denied the protection but I don't want to talk about it?" "I denied the protection, what you gonna do about it, nyah nyah?"

Yeah, that's about it.

Egypt is lost in all this. Connecting the dots, our new friends in the Islamic Brotherhood decided to celebrate their first 9/11 in power by instigating a riot. I figure they did a little searching on YouTube, found that poor slob's video, played it on state-controlled TV to start a riot, and then conveniently forgot to protect the US embassy.

That's the respect that the people who Obama has reached out to have for him - even as we send them over a $1B/yr. This is arguably a bigger story than getting an ambassador killed because you think security measures seem too off-putting.

166 I understand Mitt Romney's "stumble" as the MSM described it. It is that brain alarm thathappenswhen you run into apublicstraight face lie. That is why he turned to Obie one and asked, Really? you did not say that? /Obie one closed with a big lie about what Romney said on tape. Can we get the word out that Romney was talking about 47% of Obama supporters, not 47% of U.S. citizens; and not thecitizens on SS and disability. As far as Obama supporters are concerned, why would Obie one deny he has got those 47% who are dependent on welfaregovt for a living? They are baked in the cake for him, too. He's counting on them to feed his election.

I n all this buzz the true problem is that an innocent man is sitting in jail for the "crime" of being designated scapegoat of the Obama Admins screwup. Where or where are the civil libertarians? And the ACLU lawyers? Hmmnm?
Why is no one asking why hewas jailed; and why is still incarcerated if the Video on You Tube was not the purported anwer to why there was an Al Queda attack on 9/11/2012?
Incidently You Tube keeps track of requests ot view their videos. The purported reason for the 4 American dead was viewed by all of 13, thirteen, yes only t-h-i-r-t-e-e-n viewers in the monthit was posted.
