Intercepted Phone Call That The Administration Relied Upon To Claim A "Protest" At Benghazi ALSO CONTAINED ACKNOWLEDGEMENT FROM AL QAEDA THAT THEY WOULD PROCEED WITH THE PLANNED ATTACK

Bumped. Open thread below.

Sorry if that headline is confusing. Let me unpack it:

The Administration claims it did have some basis for claiming this attack was somehow related to a "protest" about the YouTube video.

There was no protest. But they claimed "intelligence" told them there might be some link to a protest. So they're claiming they might have been wrong, but they weren't deliberately wrong-- also known as lying. In error, but not in deceit, they claim.

Well, we now know the contents of that single strand of intelligence suggesting there might be a protest (which was incorrect intelligence).

That strand of intelligence was a message from an Al Qaeda group saying they would go ahead with their planned attack, given there were protests erupting in other parts of the world.

Thus, the very evidence they claim exonerates them from the charge of deliberately misleading the public in fact damns them -- because this single strand of intelligence came from Al Qaeda, announcing it would go ahead with the attack!

But they never told us that part, did they?

And now, caught out lying to the public about this, they claim this intelligence vindicates them -- but it actually proves that from the first moments of intelligence collection they knew Al Qaeda was behind it, and even if there was a protest (which there wasn't) that was simply a matter of providing cover for the planned attack.

This is actually ten day old news-- Eli Lake reported it October 1.

But I, for one, never appreciated this. I never saw it spelled out in the secondary media with clarity.

I never saw anyone note that that the very intercept the Administration says justifies their claim that it was "due to a protest" actually implicates Al Qaeda in the attack.

The intelligence that helped inform those talking points—and what the U.S. public would ultimately be told—came in part from an intercept of a phone call between one of the alleged attackers and a middle manager from al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), the group’s north African affiliate, according to U.S. officials familiar with the intercept. In the call, the alleged attacker said the locals went forward with the attack only after watching the riots that same day at the U.S. embassy in Cairo.

However, the intercept was one of several monitored communications during and after the attacks between members of a local militia called Ansar al-Sharia and AQIM, which, taken together, suggest the assault was in fact a premeditated terrorist attack, according to U.S. intelligence and counter-terrorism officials not authorized to talk to the press.

In one of the calls, for example, members of Ansar al-Sharia bragged about their successful attack against the American consulate and the U.S. ambassador.

It’s unclear why the talking points said the attacks were spontaneous and why they didn’t mention the possibility of al Qaeda involvement, given the content of the intercepts and the organizations the speakers were affiliated with. One U.S. intelligence officer said the widely distributed assessment was an example of “cherry picking,” or choosing one piece of intelligence and ignoring other pieces, to support a preferred thesis.

Further, as you just read, the "protest" in question wasn't in Beghazi-- they were referring to the protests in Cairo giving them a sort of jihadist momentum for the attack.

I'm sorry if you knew this already. I'm also unhappy with myself for not knowing it, for not reading every one of Lake's scoops carefully, and just checking the headlines.

I only now understand what they specifically meant by "cherry-picking intelligence" -- I had no idea it was this clearly damning for Obama. Quite literally, seizing on the word "protest" (in Cairo, as the message meant it) and utterly ignoring the pre-planned Al Qaeda attack part of it.

But as I've been remiss, I'll make up for it now, and promote the information as well as I can.

Remember: When Biden claims that the Administration reported the intelligence as they understood it, they are claiming that this message is cover enough to claim "protest/YouTube video" -- but not, apparently, enough to tell the public Al Qaeda itself had announced it was going forward with the attack in the same message.

Update/Semi-Correction: Gabe points out the Talking Points, prepared by the CIA, did mention a "spontaneous demonstration" in Benghazi. Although the actual intercepted call mentioned demonstrations in Cairo, and no one ever saw a "demonstration" in Benghazi. Ever.

I think -- can't prove; I think -- these Talking Points were prepared in negotiation with the White House, to get the best spin they could, and the CIA went along with this part of it.

Because there was never a damn sighting of a protest in Benghazi. What was seen by the staffers were security officers turned terrorist snapping pictures of the compound, casing the joint.

The whole "protest" claim seems like a fabrication the CIA thought they could support.

They couldn't, and they can't.

But Gabe is right, that was in the Talking Points.

Funny how "Al Qaeda" didn't quite make the cut.

Oh: And open thread. I'm starting the weekend early.

13 I don't even know what to say. The reasonable analysis of the information which is available at this time seems to lead to the conclusion that the Obama Administration purposefully sent a United States Ambassador and additional United States State Department personnel along with others off to their deaths. Honestly, if this were a civil case, it would be a slam dunk on negligence and would be verging on a clear case of recklessness enough to award punitive damages. I leave an analysis of whether this reaches the level of criminal negligence to those who are more familiar with those standards.

Did anyone ask those men if they were willing to die for Obama? Because godking though he may think himself, he really can't just sacrifice people for his own benefit.

So, in other words, it isn't as if they were suckered into believing that it was a result of the bogus video, it was that they saw that Al Qaida intended to use the video as an excuse and the administration decided to play into the Al Qaida excuse as a way to disguise their incompetence. And they even fucked this up.

I tried to send an email to Fox to see if I could get an answer to why nobody is mentioning that Biden implied that he had voted against the Iraq and Afghanistan wars when the opposite is true.

The administration has been jumping up and down since the last debate about how Romney "lied" IN THE DEBATE. Biden clearly blatantly lied to make a point that was made itself dishonest by his lie.
He should be held accountable, imo.

Bottom line - THE DNC convention was a huge "We killed Osama"

The world listened - including Al Qaeda

"Hey Obama -we are all Osama's" where did that go? Media made that
disappear.

No one in the ME watched that insignificant obscure “video". The
Benghazi terrorist attack was pre-planned for 9/11 and Hillary's state dept
(Hillary) was too busy dancing with re-set buttons to give the Libya Embassy
what they wanted. More. Security.

129 Game over, man. Game over.

LOS ANGELES — The adult entertainment industry overwhelmingly favors
re-electing Barack Obama to a second term as president, according to the
results of a new industry poll conducted by media organization XBIZ.

In spite of being in an era of declining industry revenues due to the
glut of free content available online and rampant piracy, the majority
of adult insiders side with the Democratic incumbent Obama over the
Republican candidate Mitt Romney as the 2012 presidential election on
Nov. 6 inches closer. The results are based on responses from members
ofXBIZ.net, the adult entertainment industry’s top social network.

XBIZ asked industry members: “Which candidate would you like elected U.S. president?”

Of the 339 respondents, 68% say Obama, while only 13% favor Romney.
Another 14% would like to see “someone else” in the White House, while
5% responded “I don’t care.”

The results of the poll did not come as a shock to at least two prominent industry kingpins.

Hustler founder Larry Flynt in September took out full-page ads in
the Washington Post and USA Today offering $1 million in cash for proof
of Romney’s tax returns and/or details of his offshore assets, bank
accounts and business partnerships. Romney in late September did release
his 2011 tax return and a brief summary of his returns from the
previous 20 years. Flynt told XBIZ simply that he was “not surprised” by
Obama’s favorite status in the industry.

The "film maker" is Egyptian. The planned riots started in Egypt, after being told to riot by their imams.

The JEF wants to release the blind sheik, who is Egyptian. The Muslim Brotherhood, who controls Egypt, has been asking for his release and has made it priority number one.

*donning tin foil hat*

Egypt and the JEF cooked up this scenario, he was gonna release the blind sheik to appease them and hit "restart" with the Arab world. Win-win in his mind. They love us now, see?

Obama's failure to know what was going on, since that very
"intelligence community" works for Obama.

I was thinking the same thing last night. Biden kept saying "they" when speaking about the intelligence agency, the embassy, State dept, etc. He's the VP of the country, of all government agencies.

Which reminds me, I really like the way Romney and Ryan have both said they'll work on behalf of all Americans.

If Obama and Biden don't want these responsibilities, we'll happily accommodate them Nov 6.

This is BIG.
I think this is a moment where publicizing this and harping on it would change more than just the numbers in the Presidential election. (Which, with a preference cascade are currently skewing in our favor.) I think this is one story which if it was actually reported and repeated would stink as a scandle that would motivate people to vote AGAINST the democratic party across all lines and all candidate paring.
Where is FOX news on this now? Why aren't they headlining this hourly? Where's Breitbart's reporting on this? Why aren't thereConservative venues shouting this from the mountaintops? The leftist media has blown any credibility with their selective reporting for years. We NEED the Conservative media (as small as it is) to be able to get stories like this out and make them effective.
As for the secondarys and the blogs....this warrents Ace to repeat his "Weinergate" performance and focus on getting this out and repeated amongst fellow blogs.....past the media....to the public.
I really think this could be THAT Big. We need it to snowball.

It won't go over well at all IMO. People in WI outside of Madison and Milwaukee are raised on the idea of respect others and you will be respected.

Throughout the recall Scott Walker was respectful and measured when dealing with the lunatics trying to dump him. It was a big reason Walker won here in WI...he was the adult in the room and independents and blue collar Dems rewarded him for it.

Ryan was the adult in the room last night and my fellow Wisconsinites don't take too kindly to insulting behavior from one party when a serious debate on the direction of our country is in order.

If Obama didn't lose it in the first debate already, Biden lost WI last night.

Mill the shit up into fine particles and disperse it like dust. 20lb or so of low grade enriched shit dispersed in Westchester when there's a wind out of the north would blanket Manhattan and cause a major crisis.

226 Outrageously, Joe Biden referencing twice as if a benevolent dictator regime SAUDI ARABIA as if in a moral position to judge Syria's Assad as if worse than the House of Saud. That was never refuted by Ryan (who under the circumstances could not diplomatically argue, even if he wanted to which he didn't). However, there is nothing moderate about Wahhabi Islam or the Muslim Brotherhood, the jihadists expanding Wahhabi Saudi monopoly of Arabia. Think twice. The Saudis openly contend towards their own global caliphate. Assad has NEVER been so obtuse as to advance any Syrian expansionism, unlike the Saudis. If "moral outrage" against barbarous regimes is the determining factor in the US government selecting our next interventionist Islamic war, then we'd have intervened years ago in Dafur to save the indigenous Christian population being cruelly displaced into genocide by the Chinese backed Muslim "war lords". Damn, attacking unarmed civilians never makes a man a warrior.

This administration's lack of logic impeded their ability to assimilate the intelligence presented each morning in briefs. The administration's failure to show up for morning intel briefings made it all the worse.

Meanwhile last night, no one admitted/mentioned the intel briefing from the NATO August address in Washington, either, regarding Libya and furthermore the many reasons why Syria is NOT Libya.

No one can go in by air and bomb any point in Syria without killing indiscriminately as the Syrian population is NOT SEGREGATED (as was the segregated population by tribal affiliation regional case in Libya). Rather, in Syria the people are very thoroughly integrated, sharing the same neighborhoods with each other, regardless of ideology. You can't bomb your "opponents" without killing your "friends" throughout Syria. And that fact by itself trumps our depleted resources situation, having spent what was allocated for Iraq and Afghanistan in Libya (obviously not "enough" to prevent the massacre of our Ambassador/personnel in Benghazy), the EU NATO members failing to come with necessary supplies, usurping by "emergency" call of US aircraft including those refueling, and strategic guided missiles no longer where there were supposed to be in Afghanistan and Iraq now. Sponsorship was wrong, as any involvement in Obama's "Arab Spring" has proven to make our US personnel in the Middle East at greater danger, less protected for what was spent.

Now, given that August intel report which NATO itself addressed in Washington (Oct.2012 Air Force Magazine), study the horribly insanely suicidal situation as understood by those US personnel on the ground whether in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya or Egypt. Shock and Awe? No wonder suicides have sky rocketed.

The US government is fighting the same people that the US government is funding and training, while the global corporatist contractors and subcontractors make out as the pirates that they are of US tax funds. Reference Congressman Walter Jones' findings. No matter how long we remain, no matter how much blood and money we spend, when we leave, it will be no better than before we came: all for naught.

“Funding the Enemy:
How U.S. Taxpayers Bankroll the Taliban.” Mr. Wissing states in his
book that for a variety of reasons, much of the taxpayer money the
United States spends in Afghanistan is being diverted and used for
funding the Taliban. Wissing describes his experiences obtained from
being an embedded journalist with five different units of the National
Guard, including the agricultural business development team and the
provincial reconstruction team.
He describes the existing
government of Afghan President Hamid Karzai as “wholly corrupt.” He
offers examples of U.S. government spending projects which wind their
way through a mostly corrupt bidding process by Afghan contractors. He
asserts that money skimmed from bribes and drug trafficking is
indirectly going to support the Taliban’s efforts against America in
Afghanistan. He states that aid dollars from the United States are being
distributed yet there is little effort to follow through and verify the
intended results of that distribution. He concludes that it is time for
the United States to end its military involvement in Afghanistan.
Douglas
Wissing is an independent journalist and author. He studied history
and political science at Indiana University and is the author of five
other books including “Pioneer in Tibet: The Life and Perils of Dr.
Albert Shelton.” (2004) He has contributed to the New York Times, the
Los Angeles Times, National Geographic Traveler, and NPR networks, among
others.

Ace, I'm confused. In the article you reference, it says:

"In the call, the alleged attacker said the locals went forward with the attack only after watching the riots that same day at the U.S. embassy in Cairo."

You say:

"That strand of intelligence was a message from an Al Qaeda group saying they would go ahead with their planned attack, given there were protests erupting in other parts of the world."

RYAN: This is a man who gave 30 percent of his income to charity, more than the two of us combined. Mitt Romney's a good man. He cares about 100 percent of Americans in this country. And with respect to that quote, I think the vice president very well knows that sometimes the words don't come out of your mouth the right way.

Barky was asleep when this memo came in so he never knew about it. And then he was partying in Vegas so he never got a chance to sit down and read this ... especially as his nights are consumed trying to read 10 personal letters by normal, little people.

Therefore, Barky never saw any of this but only had to take the word of other people ... all of whose fault it was ... whoever they are ... whatever fault there is ... Barky didn't do it ... he was sleeping ... and fundraising ... and reading the thoughts and feelings of the little people ... and empathizing the shit out of them ...

282 The video, shaky at times from being handheld, and with color imbalance streaking happening inadvertently in the uploading to YouTube, was recorded by a confidential source and shows Cefalu approached by two ATF management representatives including Joseph M. Riehl, Special Agent in Charge of the San Francisco Field Division, which encompasses Northern California and Nevada field offices, the latter being in the news of late because the Reno U.S. Attorney’s Office has refused to prosecute local ATF cases until as yet unidentified issues are resolved, prompting congressional inquiries to find out why.

Riehl, seen talking to Cefalu through his Jeep window and reportedly telling him he couldn’t leave because he had to sign papers, had been criticized on the CUATF forum, and Gun Rights Examiner is attempting to track down audit reports to determine what an independent assessment reveals about the allegations there. But the bottom line is, an employee with over 25 years of service who has been a leading spokesman for whistleblowers was unceremoniously canned in a public parking lot by senior division management.

318 Bush had good debate prep. The guy playing the part of Gore in the prep at one point just walked over and invaded Bush's space. Bush blurted something about Gore would never do that. Then Bush was told Gore tends to do that. And then during the debate, here comes Gore to try and intimidate Bush. And Bush merely looked at him, shook his head, smiled, and kept on mission ignoring Gore.

But last night, Joe Biden in the game of Political Limbo proved he could go lower than Gore. And that is not something to be proud of.

U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton

I don't understand all the fuss.

I, personally, knew it was a terrorist attack - within a couple of days. I saw congressmen - from both parties - who had intel briefings say as much, talking about RPGs and indirect fire.

The administration kept with the "spontaneous demonstration" angle anyway. They would have had the same intel. They were obviously lying then, and that hasn't changed.

Why is anybody shocked? Don't they remember Obama lying to everyone's face about how his "You didn't build that" quote was "out of context"? I don't think I've ever seen a sitting President take out an ad solelyto tell everybody a simple, easily disproven, blatant lie before.

I played the original and I nearly flunked out of college because of that game. I'm very pleased they remade this game and remade it right. I don't know about that other X-Com that's being redone by the other company. Looks like they changed the formula and that's one thing you don't do to fans of the original Don't go fucking with my childhood like that!!!

I haven't played the new version yet, just the original and Terror From The Deep.

How have they changed things? Eliminated the chance that you may actually survive an early mission?

Wow! That was some mess. So many dishonest talking points condensed into such a short time ...

"politicizing the investigation"
"multiple news organizations said so"
"47% ... blah blah blah ..."
"insure that it never happens again"

And I really can't stand ANYONE who says something so stupid as "to insure that it never happens again". The only people who say shit like that are either idiots who are too dumb to understand how stupid they sound or disingenuous liars who are trying to cover up for their actions that caused it and their defenses of it. Barky and his admin invited the Libya massacre and then tried to milk it for every bit of political weaponry they thought they could find in it.

LOL line: "The administration wouldn't be coming out and giving the facts and insuring the American people know what's going on ... making sure that Congress knows what's going on ... what the intelligence is showing ... this is an important piece of information ... an important piece of American history [WTF] ..."

Yes, he can. A willingness to sacrifice others goes with the job. A good president, however, values those lives and doesn't spend them foolishly, thoughtlessly, pointlessly. The ambassador and the brave men with him were wasted, in every sense of the word.

You can elect to go baby-steps or full hardcore (no chance in hell) mode. There is something called Iron Man mode where you only get 1 save for the whole game. I did not choose to turn that on.

I'm just starting out, but the game is very familiar and nice. Combat will come to you naturally if you've played the original. My only quibble is that since your avatars are larger, and more detailed than before, the maps seem a little smaller. Base building and research are all there like before, but you only get 1 base as your main base. The other bases are only hangers for launching interceptors. I hear you do not go to Mars in the endgame, only a "mothership".

WHITE HOUSE UPDATE: Oct. 12 Fri. 10:40 a.m.

"Obama, Biden never made aware of request for more security"
By Josh Rogin, Foreign Policy
Nordstrom: "because of Libyan political sensitivities, armed private security companies were not allowed to operate in Libya." Instead, the Benghazi mission, through a British company, hired unarmed Libyan guards to work inside the compound and a local Libyan militia patrolled the exterior of the compound.

Again, "Libyan political sensitivities" do not trump US Security.

That Obama's administration chose rely on a British privately hired UNARMED guard of Libyans inside and a Libyan local militia to patrol outside is OBAMA'S bane to bear responsibility for POOR JUDGEMENT and gross dereliction of duty, failing to protect the lives of US citizens.

This Benghazi assassination attack is far worse than the Iranian revolution's kidnapping and eventual release of 52 Americans from our Tehran Embassy after 444 days. The Iranians did not rape and kill their American prisoners while abusing international diplomatic and human rights. And even Jimmy Carter didn't rely on some British business interest to hire unfriendly locals to sabotage our Tehran Embassy in order to protect Iranian political sensitivities.

Obama's Libyan War was shit bad to pirate Libya's wealth, confiscate their ports, oil, underground reserves of fresh water to augment global corporatist agribusiness, and their Central Bank reserves of gold. "We came. We saw. We killed. Bwahahahaha," laughed Sec./State Hillary Clinton. At the time, she'd sent Gaddafi word through diplomatic channels that she'd meet him. And when he showed up at the designated place to sign a treaty, she instead arranged for his rape, torture and mutilation, leaving his dead body as a puppet in the hands of US sponsored al Qaeda assassins. No surprise to cover tracks and for whatever other reason, Ambassador Stevens was also set up, left hanging in the wind. So much for Hillary answering emergency calls; no better or different than Obama. Drunk on the job, a no show, refusing calls, unconsciously inebriated in a black out stupor, everything being all about taking MORE for themselves through the most obscene and illegal means.

God Almighty, given that administrative alternative, who wouldn't vote for a US Potus who doesn't drink alcohol or do illicit drugs?

Obama had Libya in his sites for invasion when he abused his Islamic '08 campaign finance bundler's hospitality in the most egregious way. With friends like Barack Obama representing the USA, who needs enemies?

Did Obama Forget to Have a Gaddafi Meeting 'Without Preconditions'?
By Monte Kuligowski

http://tinyurl.com/6gs98l4

Gaddafi was no Saddam Hussein in the stubbornness department. The colonel saw the light rather quickly and became an instant convert in support of democratic nation-building. The Libyan dictator assured Tony Blair and Bush that he wanted to be a partner in making the world a safer place.

In Gaddafi's willingness to have "unconditional" inspections of his facilities and Barack Obama's willingness during the 2008 campaign to sit down with dictators "without preconditions," we see a perfect match.

As crazy as it sounds, Obama's greenhorn idea of meeting with dictators without preconditions might have actually worked in the case of Moammar Gaddafi.

Obama already had connections to Gaddafi via his former pastor, Jeremiah Wright, and Louis Farrakhan. Rev. Wright and Farrakhan had traveled together in 1984 to meet with Gaddafi in Tripoli. And Obama reportedly attended Farrakhan's Million Man March with Wright. Surely, the four men could have sat down together and hammered things out over some Turkish coffee.

Prior to launching a military attack without the authorization (or even knowledge) of Congress, Obama could have negotiated with Gaddafi -- except maybe with a couple of preconditions. We were told that the tripartite wonder of Obama's Muslim background, brilliance, and charm would work wonders in certain foreign policy ambits -- but we've yet to see any benefits accrue.

Mr. Obama might have missed his big diplomatic moment to work the magic his disillusioned fans have been waiting for since the failed Olympics bid.

From Gaddafi's perspective, he and Obama were on brotherly terms. In a recent letter to Obama, Gaddafi called Obama his "son" and expressed his loving affections (for some reason I can't see Moammar calling any other U.S. president his son).

While "feeding the chickens" at home his propaganda that "al Qaeda is on its heels," after usurping Libya's wealth, what Obama "kept" in Libya were his al Qaeda allies to run the show, spending US tax funds to sponsor the particular British "talent agency" that hired the Libyan saboteurs and assassins who fucked Ambassador Stevens before killing him with his American personnel entourage.

Whether it's Obama's US government sponsorship of al Qaeda running Libya or the US round-about sponsorship of the Taliban to control Afghanistan (Karzai just takes the money but does not "govern" Afghanistan), you ask rightly of "our" presence.

It wasn't our military that al Qaeda attacked. It was our Ambassador. And it was after being given the keys of the kingdom by our President who lacked all US constitutional authority in that case, who relied on foreign "partners" in NATO who failed to show up with their fair share of the war effort. pfft Obama even screws himself, despite Clint Eastwood's disclaimer.

437 Apparently some Republican legislator tried to float a bill in 2011 to change WI winner take all EV scheme to congressional district apportioned.

At the time, the Democrats viciously attacked that proposal as trying to "steal elections".

If WI flips, and all Wisconsin EV's go to Romney, it will be interesting to see how quickly the Democrats propose and embrace the same "stealing elections" scheme they attacked in 2011.

Whenever you try to rig something for a steady state "normal", be it EV's or redistricting/gerrymandering, it ALWAYS comes back to bite you in the ass when the situation changes from normal to no longer normal.

Oh, but they are us and we are they, or so we're told. Talk about which came first at this point, hard to say, given that the same global war corporatists are absconding with most of our US tax dollars "intended" to export the mob rule of democracy, peace no longer PC.

If at all, nip the WMD at the source, those global war-industrial corporations spawning war for their own profits. Don't ignore Eisenhower's warning as "outdated".

Iraq's non-existent WMD should come to mind given what's come of Bush's first strike Doctrine of Aggression accompanying the story of the Boy who cried "Wolf!"

Biden went on and on last night enunciating Rumsfeld's "lean mean" US Military incapable of fighting more than two simultaneous fronts. That military would go entirely drone in combat, massive profits from massive taxation.

We tax payers already spend 400% more dollars for only 25% of what was originally contracted, each year inflation depleting our military, the craft "life" extension long past expiration dates, new contracts cancelled for new contracts cancelled for new contracts.... Yes, our taxes are being spent on the grounds that we do care about our military personnel on the premise that we are protecting our Constitution, NOT protecting global corporatist profiteering pirates at the expense of US taxpayers and US lives. "It's the economy, stupid."

Our nation's foreign policy needs cleansing, nipping the excesses of Executive "privilege" back to constitutional constraints, as with each of the Three Branches of our Constitutional Republic. "Unalienable rights" are unrecognized by American authoritarians in office. Now THAT is worth a fight for our Constitutional Republic.

Were "morality" the issue to instigate war, we'd never tolerate what China is funding in Dafur, the methodical extermination of all indigenous Christians in Africa.

Meanwhile, without authority, "Because I could" Obama thrusts our Military into Libya and Egypt, blessing al Qaeda rebels and Saudi Wahhabi Muslim Brotherhood with our special ops and tax dollars, spawning the democracy of terrorism.

We can't afford that. Moreover, we don't want that.

Thus, the very evidence they claim exonerates them from the charge of deliberately misleading the public in fact damns them -- because this single strand of intelligence came from Al Qaeda, announcing it would go ahead with the attack!

But they never told us that part, did they?

And now, caught out lying to the public about this, they claim this intelligence vindicates them -- but it actually proves that from the first moments of intelligence collection they knew Al Qaeda was behind it, and even if there was a protest (which there wasn't) that was simply a matter of providing cover for the planned attack.>>

Okay.
