Happy Thursday.

A masked assassin killed a Yemeni security official during a drive-by at the U.S. embassy in Yemen. The official had been working for the U.S. Embassy for nearly 20 years. Yemeni officials said the killing bore the hallmarks of an Al Qaeda attack, though it was too soon to tell for sure.

The mother of the State Department computer-dude slain in Benghazi blasts President Obama for his "baloney" explanations of the attack. This, of course, comes on the heels of the mother of the slain Navy SEAL asking Romney not to politicize her son's death.

Dear Mom, if I should happen to die in such a way as to make the national news, do not talk to reporters. I mean, that's true all the time -- never talk to reporters -- but all the other kids in heaven are definitely going to make fun of me if my mom is defending me all the time. Oh, and if I happen to go to the other place, I'll send hellhounds after any reporter that bugs my mother. Yeah, hellhounds.

There are new polls out this morning, with some good news for Romney, but I'm not gonna get in Ace and CAC's little donnybrook over that. You'll just have to wait for one of them to get up.

In other news, the diversity officer at a D.C. college for the deaf was suspended yesterday for signing the Maryland marriage referendum petition earlier this year that sent the issue of marriage equality to voters. Lawsuits are likely to ensue.

RE: Diversity Officers at Universities

I heard something really interesting yesterday. A woman is suing UT for denying her admission because she is white. And she was.

The university is defending itself by saying "diversity, diversity". UT will probably lose and the woman win, because race is the most important and really only factor they look at.

Someone pointed out that all universities have "diversity officers", its a way for University presidents and pols to give cush jobs to their cronies on the taxpayers dime.

They could care less about diversity, but they have created an entire industry around it designed to suck more cash from the taxpayer.

F*ckin' Verizon wants to charge 10.00 per month RENTAL for every stinkin' digital adapter you have in a home, and that contraption seems to be a good way to get around the problem. The lousy digital adapter most likely costs Verizon maybe 30.00 tops.

Romney does well in the debates and more people are starting to discuss him rationally (if one ignores Big Bird).

Obama begins to let the Indonesian Socialist Racist mask slip a little, thus permitting people to observe the vacuity of his non-scripted speeches and his overall incompetence.

These two events make me feel like there is hope.

Then I am watch the hearings yesterday, and see the absolute despicable nature of people in senior positions in government as they evade any responsibility or accountability for their actions which have killed American citizens and endangered many more. I am convinced that none of them will ever spend a day in jail, much less be prosecuted, because the Republican "leadership" (aka Boner and Bitch) will never take a stand and risk any political blowback. I graduated from SJSU. Towards the end of my time there, a new requirement for graduation had been set up. All students had to take a class in African American, Asian American or Native American Studies.

Somehow, I actually managed to get an appointment with the man who implemented this idea and asked him a few questions about it. Mind you, I was polite but I still asked questions such as "I'm of Scottish ancestry. Are you implying that we didn't contribute anything to this country?" A good conversation, a civil debate and I came out with a large amount of contempt for the "Diversity at all costs!" crowd.

48 WHAT? Nearly half of voters don't like Obama's handling of Libya attacks?

That leads me to be believe that about half the voters are ok with Obama's handling of the Libya attacks. How is that possible? He, and HRC actively withdrew security assets, actively denied requests for security upgrades, and after finding out the attack on 9/11/12 was a pre-planned terrorist operation, lied about it.

At a certain point, a "decision" like the one that resulted in the ambassador's death should have come from someone very high up: Shrillery, Jarret, or Choom Boy himself.

But the prevailing culture within the current regime seems to favor decision-making through inaction. If one doesn't do anything, one is not responsible. I suggest that some low-level functionary yanked security, and the matter ended there. At least 'til Sept. 11, that is.

In a way, this debacle -- for which some major heads (including the president's) would have rolled back in the days when Americans expected their government to be pro-America -- shows how the Choom Boy regime has corrupted common sense.

I don't think an ambassador is any more important or powerful to Osama Obama and his posse than the "low-level flunky;" in fact, the ambassador may be several steps lower on the totem pole than the lefty drone sitting at a desk (or using his laptop while at Starbuck's) in D.C.

Your explanation may be right but it it happens to give all the higher-ups a perfect excuse. They simply never knew there was a problem. The requests never reached them.

I find that idea farfetched. The more logical thing is the requests did go high up and they were rejected there.

Somebody said "No" and they did so in agreement with policy or against it or they just did it on a whim. Who said "No" and why.

The death of the 1991 agreement, which had been renewed twice, is the latest in a series of hitches in relations between the United States and Russia and casts doubt on the future of the much-vaunted "reset" in relations between the Cold War-era foes.
"The basis of the program is an agreement of 1991 which, by virtue of the time when it was conceived, the way it was worked out and prepared, does not meet very high standards. The agreement doesn't satisfy us, especially considering new realities," Interfax quoted him as saying.

For those of you who do not speak Bullshit Russian, I'll translate: "We're gonna wait to see if obama gets back in and then use that old "flexibility" thing he promised?

165 I think they have nothing else, and this race is starting to barrel away from them like a freight train.

When 0bama is down to having to resort to an OJ Simpson reference to fire up his base (remember OJ, the guy who killed two people in a gruesome murder, got in his white Bronco and started heading for Mexico, committed armed robbery, and now rots in jail?) you know he's hit the bottom of the barrel and scrapping.

The MSM is totally ignoring the 'dog whistle' because? Shut up, that's why.

I saw this story yesterday, and my brain hamster started spinning the little wheel there. Odd story, because conservatives don't generally engage in this kind of behavior.

I'm almost sure that this was either a false-flag operation in order to gin up outrage, like the numerous cases of a black person hanging a noose on his own door; or someone mad at them for being insufficiently far left.

And as soon aw we know which one it is, the story will be magically disappeared.

On another note: Heather, stop obsessing about your bra strap!

Actually, I think it was the most accurate. Rasmussen was #2.

Of course, when they say "accurate" that means their final number. If they got there with a huge sample that doesn't match the actual turnout, then they were just lucky. If the election occurred today and Romney won by 5, they would say "We were most accurate!!", but they would have gotten the turnout numbers completely wrong.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin on Thursday that Moscow does not believe Iran will use a nuclear weapon against Israel.

Question:

I have Windows 7 and it is rock solid. It wiil not, however, allow me to read a USB external hard drive!

Not a thumb drive, but an external drive with a hard disk.

I've Binged the problem and there seems to be no solution to the problem. Some suggestions go as far as deleting your entire USB bus, then restarting your computer with the hard drive connected and allowing Windows to re-populate the bus. According to those brave enough to have tried it, it doesn't even work.

Windows 7 recognized the drive and installed drivers. It says the device is working properly. The problem seems to be security related, because when find the one box (out of dozens) that actually allows me as admin to change the security setting I get nothing but error messages.

Gary Johnson is not Ross Perot. He's not even Steve Forbes. Many (if not most) Republicans remember that Gary Johnson was a Republican- until he realized he had all the (national) draw of a mud-wrestling match between Rosy O'Donnell and Rosanne Barr.

Then he became a Libertarian, because he wanted to run for President anyway.

He's not going to draw that much Republican support. I think even the Paulians have decided that voting Libertarian this year is kind of nuts.

You need to go to the crossroads and make the deal with Mr. Satan

Locate Clarksdale, Mississippi on a dependable map. Note that it's located less then eighty miles from Memphis, Tennessee, on U.S. Highway 61 South. It makes perfect sense that Johnson would appear somewhere out of the Mississippi delta, with guitar on back, walking to Memphis, and then confronting Lucifer. Begin the drive.

Trace Highway 61 South to where it first meets U.S. 49. This location is at Lula, Mississippi and travels east into Helena, Arkansas. This isn't really a crossroad but rather 'T' intersection. Many travelers searching for the actual crossroads get confused and are wrongly convinced this is the location.

Continue south towards Clarksdale, taking the loop around the city to Desoto Avenue. It is here that the two highways separate, and this is also the place many misconstrue as the crossroads. Note that in the early 20th Century there were no loops around cities and that most of the highways, especially in the south, were merely dirt or graveled roads with maintenance involving only scheduled grading. The actual crossroads will be found in the heart of Clarksdale.

Take Desoto Avenue north into the city and upon reaching State Street, park. There is a right turn lane that has a grassy island with several trees. This is the location of the Crossroads Monument. Situated upon a baby blue post are two guitars (replicas and much larger then a standard guitar, of course). One guitar points north toward Highway 61 and one points east toward Highway 49. Below the guitars is a sign stating "The Crossroads."

My question is, Why announce?

I looked at the Suffolk Research Center site. From what was available, they don't seem to crank out a high volume of work. I'm speculating that they were merely finished with their assignment, but by announcing it, they were signalling that Barky is finished, too.

UNADJUSTED DATA
The advance number of actual initial claims under state programs, unadjusted, totaled 327,063 in the week ending October 6, an increase of 25,990 from the previous week. There were 405,906 initial claims in the comparable week in 2011.

The advance unadjusted insured unemployment rate was 2.2 percent during the week ending September 29, unchanged from the prior week's unrevised rate. The advance unadjusted number for persons claiming UI benefits in state programs totaled 2,778,396, a decrease of 42,837 from the preceding week. A year earlier, the rate was 2.5 percent and the volume was 3,113,245.

The total number of people claiming benefits in all programs for the week ending September 22 was 5,044,649, a decrease of 43,970 from the previous week. There were 6,819,938 persons claiming benefits in all programs in the comparable week in 2011.

Galludet has been the battleground for some strange skirmishes. There are some deaf advocates who are strangely invested in being deaf being somehow superior to the people who can hear, to the point of seemingly being against any efforts to cure being deaf. Maybe I've misinterpreted their argument, but if I have it's because they're very confusing.

The guy who runs Suffolk, Paleo - Greek, said that the numbers they had including Obama being at 46% before and after the debate combined with what they are seeing on the ground made it virtually impossible for them to win in FL. May or may not be BS but that was his reasoning for FL, similar for VA. NC has been over for weeks.

Obama's super PAC canceled a $4.5 million ad buy in FL last week so maybe they are seeing similar things.

359 Read this:

[ from "Universal Studios shocking show defames Romney, praises Obama", Marla Knowles, October 10, 2012 ]

"Florida voters need to know about the appalling attempts by Universal Studios in Orlando to influence the November election in favor of President Obama.

I went to Halloween Horror Nights last weekend and was shocked that Universal was using its amusement park as a political platform to reach the masses in favor of Obama and to slam Republican contender Mitt Romney in a show called “Bill and Ted’s Adventure.”

We went to the show thinking it was going to be centered on a movie by the same name. We had no idea its premise had an election theme. But at first, we thought it was going to be OK, since it was Bill and Ted who were running for election. Instead, though, the “show” turned into a 40-minute campaign rally for Obama, defaming Romney.

In the show, a black man was dressed up in a suit and sunglasses looking all cool and singing a rap about how he was the first black president. He makes references to gay rights, women's contraception, killing Osama bin Laden, supporting Big Bird and the like.

All the while, the crowd was getting pumped up and cheering the entire time.

The black man’s “opponent” was a white man talking like a "nerd" and looking all disheveled as he stumbled out saying that he lied in the debate, that he shoves grannies off the cliff.
"Oh, I didn't know that women could vote," he even said at one point."
