| Turkey Intercepts Syrian Passenger Aircraft, En Route From Russia, On Suspicion It Was Carrying WeaponsAnd when we say weapons, we mean chemical weapons and other nasties. Correction: The plane was flying from Russia to Syria and is not suspected of ferrying weapons out of Syria, but into Syria. Apologies. I completely misheard this story on Fox and conflated it with the troop movements to Jordan. When I looked up the story in print, I thought I understood it from the misheard TV report. ... Now I know what you're thinking, with regard to Iraq. And I'm thinking that too. There's an article by a guy whose name I forget -- I believe he was a Greek, and I believe he was formerly a Communist agent, and I believe he wrote on National Review for a time. And I can't quite remember what he said, but he asserted that Russia had plans with all of its satrapies to evacuate the Nasty Stuff out upon collapse of the regime they'd been helping. Hopefully you'll remember. As mentioned earlier, US troops are now in Jordan, patrolling the border, looking for cross-border movement of chemical weapons stocks.Comments1

I honestly want to believe that TheBlaze got fooled by WND, which went off on some crazy tangent, which WND is know to do. But they seem to have pictures. They seem to have solid evidence It seems to be true. But that would be crazy. So I'm really hoping somebody can point to a snopes article or something that explains this is a rightwing conspiracy theory and the pics are photoshopped or something. thanks. Larry Elder interviews General George Sada, who served as the second-highest ranked general in the Iraqi Air Force.
Elder: What happened to the chemical and biological weapons? Sada: The chemical and biological weapons were available in Iraq before liberating the country, but Saddam Hussein took the advantage of a natural disaster that happened in Syria when a dam was collapsed and many villages were flooded. So Saddam Hussein took that cover and declared to the world that he is going to use the civilian aircraft for an air bridge to help Syria with blankets, food and fuel oil, and other humanitarian things, but that was not true. The truth is he converted two regular passenger civilian aircraft, 747 Jumbo and 727 . . . all the weapons of mass destruction were put there by the special Republican Guards in a very secret way, and they were transported to Syria, to Damascus, by flying 56 flights to Damascus. . . . In addition . . . also a truck convoy on the ground to take whatever has to do with WMD to Syria. Elder: I've always thought it incredible, bizarre, unbelievable, that our intelligence could have been wrong, British intelligence could have been wrong, the French, the Germans, the Russians, the U.N., the Egyptians, the Jordanians, all of whom thought he had WMD. I never felt comfortable with the idea that everybody got it wrong. . . . Sada: Your intelligence said that Saddam Hussein had WMD. . . . I agree with them. They were there in Iraq. But they didn't find them after liberation of Iraq, because they were searching not in the right place. These things were transported by air and by ground. http://tinyurl.com/8v9hx8c Posted by: Hepcat at October 10, 2012 07:04 PM (frbyY) 57

THIS. Russia is fighting the Brotherhood on behalf of the Shi`a and Hizbollah, yes, but really on behalf of Syrian Christians. Syrian Christians know that they need a (fellow) minority sect to hold the reigns in their country. Syria is mostly Sunni and many of those Sunni are MoBros. If Syria gets "democracy", it gets Sunni populist tyranny. And that means genocide for Christians in Syria. Aside from that, how many wedding bands have any inscriptions on the outside, at all? Not in the Western world, at least. We tend to have, as said, wedding "bands", maybe with internal inscriptions, but that's about it. The intricacy and doo-dads usually go on the engagement ring. I'm really surprised that no one else has picked the story up. The hate for WND in the right blogosphere is really out of control. This is a shame because Joseph Farah, being a Christian arab, has long been one of the main sources of good information about the islamic arab world and what happens there with respect to Christian arabs - and just how much of a serious threat the islamic world is to everyone. WND is a good site. Just because they do some very Christian and Biblical stuff every so often too many conservative bloggers have tried to shun them. And the fact that WND did real investigations of Barky's past and eligibility issue really turned off most of the "conservative" blogosphere. They just wouldn't stand for any of that talk ... Exactly. The only reason the Muslim Brotherhood is rising in the middle east is because the dipshit in the WH fucked up the Arab spring. Instead of stepping in and supporting more moderate groups in places like Egypt, Libya and Syria, Obama sat back and let the MB take over. Something was always going to come after the dictators who ruled the Arab countries. Putin has (for better and worse) done a lot to expand the Orthodox Church in Russia. The Pussy Riot prosecution was a part of that. And Russia seems to be taking a role as the guarantor of Orthodoxy abroad. They did the same agitations amongst the Armenians in the 1800s. They are also big on supporting the Serbs. So, yes, Putin cares. Even if cynically "he is their leader and must follow". I repeat my first comment on this thread: I'm not on any of the sides here (although I prefer protecting Christians and especially non-Sunni-rule in places like Syria, over MoBro rule). I don't like us being in Jordan. My feeling is Barry would love to have the non despot king in Jordon be toppled and another islamic theocracy started.
Barry has been giving Assad a pass for whatever reason and while he might be ready to throw him under the bus if he thinks a theocratic group would replace him, Assad has been a reliable enemy to the U.S. Jordan more like a friend and we know how that has worked out the last 3.8 years --Mubarak, etc. My hope there would be that we have enough honorable officers that they would not cooperate with an overthrow in Jordan now when the civvies are on the verge of throwing out that JEF of a CinC. Posted by: steevy at October 10, 2012 07:35 PM (6o4Fb) Actually, it was the Nazi who were big on fomenting jihad with the Grand Mufti showing the way. The Soviets were the biggest supporters and bankrollers of ARAB terror, but not islamic terror. That was back in the days of the pan-arabists controlling the arab world. Lots of them were marxist douches and they were almost all Soviet stooges. Moscow was behind most of the terror in the 60s, 70s, and 80s, but that wasn't islamic terror, it was arab terror. Iran and Saudi Arabia were the main supporters of islamic terror - from Shia and Sunni sides, with some cross-pollinating as was helpful at the time - which eventually took over for the old pan-arab secular terror. They concocted so many conspiracies and betrayed rulers and nations so many times that the people harbor hatred towards them. Yes but to me Arab terror is the same in the end.
Posted by: steevy at October 10, 2012 07:47 PM (6o4Fb) But there are serious differences. They are not the same people and they don't run on the same agendas, even though each is as violent and stupid as the other. They have different benefactors and different influences. As the pan-islamic wave started to take over the arab world we saw reactions from pan-arabists, like arafat, with the creation of Fatah's Al Aqsa martyrs Brigade - to be their "islamic" arm in competition with hamas - and the martyrs brigade gave hamas a run for their money. As bad as the retarded pan-arabists were (and they were bad enough that we should have laid waste to a bunch of places back in the 70s and retaken the gulf oil fields to have nipped all this insanity in the bud), the pan-islamists are far worse. Russia is not the benefactor of the pan-islamist terror groups, though it has been involved with Iran and others for using as tools against the West. No, not really. They can pretty much kibosh anything we do to try to deal with the horrible little dictatorships they make mega-bucks selling all their military tech too, and they have no incentive to stop. They know that as long as they vote anything down in the UN nothing else will ever get done. It never does. They know full well our current administration will bend over backwards to accommodate them no matter what they do, so why bother being "allies" if you don't really need to be? Guess you can't blame them for having their cake and eating it too. Posted by: StuckonStupid at October 10, 2012 08:04 PM (f/0ub) 289
#271, that's the problem. Since the communists took over Russia, and in the post-Communist period, the leadership has not realized that it is their best interests to work with the US to further their interests than be antagonists.
The Russian leadership is playing the role of France from the 1960s forward. Thinking that by being a third power at the table they will get ahead, when instead such actions only place them further behind. Putin should realize that he is replaying DeGualle's mistakes. Doesn't all the war gaming say that Israeli jets can't make the round
trip to Iran and back without refueling? So they must either have a plan that includes Arab countries, USAF mid-air refueling, or what? There was quite a bit of talk a year ago or more that the Saudis had agreed to look the other way while the Israelis used airbases in the empty western part of the country to stage attacks on Iran. Politically it makes some sense (the Saudis fear Iran as much as Israel does) and geographically the area between Bahrain and Kuwait would probably work just fine. However, these reports were from sources like DEBKA so reliability is questionable. For good reason. Russia has been vetoing the US and other western powers for years at the UN whenever we tried to take action against dictators or other ethinic cleansers. They did it in Yugoslavia in 1999. That left NATO and Bill friggin Clinton of all people to go in and stop the ethnic cleansing. They did it in Iraq for years preventing an effective sanctions model and ultimately leading us to war. They provided weapons through Iran to Iraq. They did it in Libya dragging out that conflict longer than it need it to They are doing it in Iran as we speak and are enabling Iran to sell some oil and have some currency coming in. And they are doing it in Syria. Russia hates Islamic terrorists as much as we do but they will also do whatever they can to fuck us up. Everyone here understands that Islamic terrorists are a danger to us but going back decades there has always been some tool the Russians have used to fuck with us without being directly involved. Exactly. The only reason the Muslim Brotherhood is rising in the middle east is because the dipshit in the WH fucked up the Arab spring. Instead of stepping in and supporting more moderate groups in places like Egypt, Libya and Syria, Obama sat back and let the MB take over.
Obozo was in on the planning of the Arab Spring and the Mo Bro Hood resurrecting the Caliphate-- which was dreamed up years ago by George "I have a god complex" Soros and the Fabian Socialists years ago. Samantha Power (Mrs. Cass Sunstein), was put in charge of the project at the WH. Did you know Billy Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn were in Egypt months before "the Spring" to teach the agitators? Beck has film of Tubby Dickie Trumka IN EGYPT, pre-Tahrir Square, also in rabble-rousing capacity ("workers of the world unite"). IIRC, the "Arab Spring" was on the drawing board at least seven years before it actually happened. Afterall, the motto of the Fabian Socialists is "heating up the world to mold it to our heart's desire." The progs are nothing if notpatient. About all they have left is a raft of regular trolls and a bunch of jumpy, scared rabbit commenters reflexively blasting everyone else as trolls, Just In Case. It's pathetic, and yes, I happen to think it's because everyone gives in to Troll Flu two seconds after a troll shows up looking for validation instead of just taking their damned Airborne (Very Berry please) and enjoying the placebo goodness. Well that's not really true. The base there, if it is there, is just a
logistical and refueling area. And could be evacuated as soon as the mission is completed. Iran has plenty of surface-to-surface missiles that should be in the air before the planes have even left their airspace. Meaning the base can be hit -before- the mission in completed. And, at the very least, meaning there won't be Israeli planes launching for a second, third, or fourth sortie. I'm not arguing "useless", just saying TFG did serious damage to the entire concept. So we're going to trust Jordanian Muslims not to screw us? Huh? ahhh, huh? I want my 150 guys back on the plane right now. I want the WMD's distributed equally. I want everyone to play MAD with us. I like the idea of totally innocent Muslims laying awake at night, starring at the ceiling, wondering if the wife and kids will make it to the souk in the morning, or be vaporized b4 noon because of some weird shit that some moeron, living large and western, decides to do that day in the name of God.

If that's what you think, then it's obvious you havent spent any time in the Middle East. Everyone is for sale, everyone knows someone in the terror biz, and the only question is how fast can the deal be done. The troops are Special Forces, and they are there to prevent those weapons from leaving Syria. Posted by: Sean Bannion. at October 10, 2012 09:15 PM (s0WlJ) 607

There are Palestinians in Jordan. And you can get to the West Bank through Jordan.
Posted by: Mirror-Universe Mitt Romney at October 10, 2012 09:14 PM (boomF) Palestinian jihadi groups have been based in Damascus for over a decade. Of course there are palis in Jordan. Jordan is the Palestinian state. But Israel controls the flow from Jordan to the territories. Israel has never needed nor asked for any American soldiers to protect it from anyone, ever. This has nothing to do with Israel. Posted by: ThePrimordialOrderedPair at October 10, 2012 09:18 PM (X3lox) 609

Posted by: Sean Bannion. at October 10, 2012 09:15 PM (s0WlJ) Right .... when they would likely go through Lebanon, which is wide open and has been for some time including being totally controlled in the south by ... a terrorist organization - one of the most powerful and far-reaching ones. Bullshit. This is a setup to get American soldiers closer to Syria so that Barky can pull the trigger on another Libya. Jordan has long had the best, most professional arab military. It doesn't need American help to close its borders. Posted by: ThePrimordialOrderedPair at October 10, 2012 09:22 PM (X3lox) 612

You're so far off base you're not even in the stadium anymore. You're not going to effect much geo-political change with a couple Special Forces A Teams. BTW, SF has been on the ground advising the Syrian resistance for quite some time now. But....on the Black Swan type chance that you're right, I'll buy you a steak dinner at the place of your choice.
