RASMUSSEN WISCONSIN OBAMA 49% ROMNEY 47%

Oh wait. That's PPP.

While trolls and lefties delighted in the MuLaw poll released the day of the debate showing Obama up 11 points...

Apparently that gap shrank drastically in the 48 hours since (and to compare apples to apples, Romney trailed Obama by 7 in the last PPP poll two weeks ago, so still a clear, obvious drop).

All of Obama's gains in the purple states through September have been wiped out by a 90 minute ass-stomping.

To the moron horde, I ask that you use lotion when that thought fully sinks in.

I ask you get a Costco-size when you think further: Ryan debates Biden in 5 days.

Updates: Poll finds Romney in positive territory on approval rating for the first time ever- 49/48, an 8 point bounce. Poll finds voter sample of 34D-33R-33I, very believable. Poll finds indies breaking to Obama. Poll finds non-whites splitting 24-4-72 Romney/Und/Obama.

8 Bush had a big lead on Kerry going into the debate - almost 10 points, I think. Bush's nonchalant performance in that first debate would have cost him the election had it not been for record turnout on our side.

Obama had a much smaller lead going into the debate, got crushed much worse than Bush, plus it was one of Romney's only times to speak to the American people without the insane media filter on. Just devastating to Obama. I don't think he recovers.

Meh. Still, the premise, man. What gains did TFG really make besides in the polling? There is no other sign other than the polling that has been positive for TFG in four years. Well, OBL was positive I guess. But they skull fucked that right into a new blunder.

I would say that the correct narrative is the reality of TFG's miserable failure as a president is becoming more apparent to the degree that it is even showing up on the Left, in the MSM, and in the polling (BIRM).

14 I'm not entirely sure that Ryan will wow Biden the way that Romeny blew out Obama. Not because Ryan isn't utterly prepared or not right in his positions, but because he will be going up against a prepared professional and well seasoned politician who has no problem what so ever lying and lying boldly and who will show no shame if called into account over his lies but will turn around and repeat the same lie again and again. And Biden is real good at repeating lies even if he knows they are lies.

19 "Ryan debates Biden in 5 days."

As Ace himself pointed out at the time, Biden lied his ass off repeatedly during his 2008 debate with Sarah Palin, and got away with it.

And the enemy-dia will be absolutely desperate to spin this as a loss for Ryan, who if anything, they hate far worse than Romney.

Ryan was really *the* first individual during Obama's presidency to get right up in the face of the SCOAMF, in person, and tell him quite clearly that he was full of it, and the Palace Guard will never forget or forgive that act of _lese-majeste_.

72 Romney is getting 24% of the non-White vote?

From ye olde Wikipedia:
"According to the 2010 Census, 86.2% of the population was White (83.3% non-Hispanic white), 6.3% was Black or African American, 1.0% American Indian and Alaska Native, 2.3% Asian, 1.8% from two or more races. 5.9% of the total population was of Hispanic or Latino origin (they may be of any race)"

With an approximate 50/50 split in Latino/Black (who make up the vast majority of non-whites, this would mean that Romney is either way ahead amongst Latinos, or Obama is doing really bad with blacks - or a little of both.

This aint' gonna be 2008 redux...

93 Independents as a whole are not breaking for Obama. Even before Wednesday, if you had looked at the internals from polls in swing states like OH, FL, VA and NC, Romney was winning the Independent vote with a comfortable margin and the only reason Obama was winning or tied in some of those states was the ridiculous oversampling of Dems.

Two things are happening now. One, the polls are starting to reflect more realistic turnouts as we get closer to the election and the pollsters search for some credibility and two, Romney has become a real alternative for more people after Wednesday in the way Reagan became real after clocking Carter.

This is now Romney's race to lose and there is no reason to believe he will.

99 You know, I'm kinda interested to watch SNL tonight. Not for, you know... amusement. But as oppo research/anthropology. How do the writers try to polish this turd for their guy that was the debate w/o being painfully obvious about no longer being satire, but propaganda? Or do they bite the bullet and actually play it straight, and let Obama have it? I'll be honest, I think they'll go the route of mocking Obama from the left for being a wimp and not calling out the lying liar Romney. Which is cheap on their end, but *very* predictable. Painfully predictable.

But I do want to see how far the preference cascade had gone.

145 The End is Upon Us

Please hear me out before you call me crazy.

From August 31-September 10, 2012 I received a revelation from the angel in Smyrna as is stated in the Book of Revelations Ch. 2 v. 8-11. The series of tribulations I experienced was so utterly profound it could not have possibly been a coincidence. If I am correct I will pass shortly from this Earth.

The Apocalypse described in the Book of Revelations is certainly upon us. The unrest in the Middle East, the earthquakes, the food speculation, and the impending famine are proof of this. Refer to Chapter 6 in the Book of Revelations.

We have reached an advanced state of spiritual decay where the values of Christian civilization have been utterly demolished. This isn’t an accident, but rather a deliberate design by people who are in active rebellion against God.

What is the Internet except a revival of the tree of knowledge of good and evil? It is an instrument of social anarchy, nothing good really comes of it.

“Freedom” is just a charade. We are not free, we are being manipulated by a satanically-inspired elite that always stands for chaos, but never stands for order regardless of expressed ideology. This elite controls the terms of the debate. And that’s exactly where we have been going all these years: more chaos, less order, a form of anarcho-tyranny. You know who wants Freedom? Satan. “Freedom” from the natural order established by God. The great lie of equality is the root of our problems because it encourages envy and all other sorts of sin. Satan, the master of all propaganda is in control of “free” societies.

His minions are Satanists and the Freemason organization. This is not a wild eyed conspiracy, in fact Freemasonry cryptically admits most of it if you ignore their word games and read between the lines. By careful compartmentalization they are able to exercise control of a large number of elites, who are facilitated directly by the Satanists. The Freemasons were behind the American and French Revolutions, not “the people”.

Where else do the so-called “humanists” derive their morality if not from Satan? It certainly can’t come from Darwinism, according to Darwinism humanity, along with all other life forms, is supposed to be in eternal conflict. This is the Fascist worldview and was spectacularly wrong.

God does exist. How can anything exist from nothing? And the true God stands for truth, unlike the lies you will hear pouring forth from the beast and the false prophet.

And Christianity is the one true religion and social ideology. How should you know this? Buddhism and Hinduism cannot truly be regarded as organized “religions”. In fact, Hinduism is said to be compatible with atheism. Islamic “ethics” were essentially copied from Christianity, while inserting some satanically lustful elements. Capitalism and Socialism also involve key elements of social destruction. The common denominator for all these ideologies is disintegration, disorder, and love of money and sex.

Jesus expressed his opinion of “Jews” in Revelations Ch. 2 verse 9. Beware the false Bibles, Old King James Version is accurate but make sure nobody tries to twist the words.

And of course Christianity gave us the greatness of what was once Western Civilization. A civilization that never was surpassed. All innovation, all true creativity was a product of the Christian West. Since that time we have been in unstoppable decline.

This wicked sinful world is coming to its inevitable end. But there is hope: a total and unconditional embrace of Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. To the bitter end you must stand with him against all odds and against all deception as commanded in the Book of Revelation. TRUST NOBODY BUT JESUS CHRIST. They will try to fool you with “light” but it will be the light of Satan.

My Wisconsin Badgers has been just the opposite for the last 15 years, they run the ball down your throat for 4 quarters. They always have an incredible offensive line that just wears out most defenses. To beat them you have to be going into the second half with a minimum two touchdown lead. But like WV, it wins tons of games but will never win a national championship.

Does he need the day off because he's just lazy as usual, or is it because he has been protected from having to deal with a butt kicking? Most politicians, Romney included, get used to ups and downs, wins and losses.

The narcissistic and thin skinned Obama probably had a pretty tough time having to accept the criticism of his debate debacle. He's not used to being mocked by hard core libs like Jon Stewart and Bill Maher.

Lord knows, Republicans are used to it.

199 The Biden/Palin debate was a wash because neither one of them had a command of policy. Biden just invented shit out of the air and Palin ignored most topics and stuck to rehearsed talking points.
The difference in this one will be, Ryan won't knows every subject inside out (maybe not quite as strong on forgiven policy but still leaps and bounds ahead of Biden) and Biden won't be able to just make shit up when his mind goes blank. And I know Biden is going to lose control at sometime, his self righteousness will demand it and at that point Ryan will embarrass him by pointing out either the fallacy of his statement or the ridiculousness of it. From that point on Biden will just appear like the fool he is.
It's a fucking joke this guy holds the office he does and he'll show the world again that night why.

He enjoys it, whereas the Big 0 (plainly) does not.

And the man will lie like a rug.

So I think it is no certain thing that Ryan will wipe the floor with him.

Ryan is smart, however. What he needs to be careful about is relating to the mainstream. He needs to poke holes in Biden by attacking the current record. It's a target-rich environment. Wonky is good, but not too wonky.

On another subject, I was in a phone conversation with a former Obama supporter--contributed to him even. And I think she had a great point about the upcoming foreign policy stuff. Romney (and Ryan) need to tie everything back to the economy. I was concerned that FP was not in Romney's wheelhouse, and she pointed out (rightly) that it didn't matter if he pushed everything back to the economy.

China as a military threat? No, China as an economic threat.

Egypt and the Middle East? Why are we giving them billions of dollars?

Obama can talk about American image and nuance, but heartland voters want the focus HERE. We are about to fork over more than a billion to Pakistan. That's the kind of thing that most Americans are going to side with the candidate questioning, rather than the candidate apologizing.

231 Here's what I've wondered since the debate...Obama did poorly because he didn't prepare properly and take it as seriously as he needed to, but also because he only knows how to do his generic stump speech, speak generalities and through out the occasional half-fact soundbite.

Can he really change his nature in the little time before the next debate? Assuming is were possible, it would take a lot of work to memorize stats and facts, reduce the nervous "uhs" and such, etc...does he have the discipline and desire to do all that work? At first, I thought he'd improve and the next two debates would be a lot closer, but the more I think about it, the more difficult I find it to believe he's really going to crack down, work hard and find someone to challenge him effectively, and in the same way Romney will.

He tried to get back at Ryan when he invited him to a follow up presser and shat all over Ryan when while all he could do was sit there and take it but he had clearly gotten under the skin of The One.

241 Ryan himself has said that Biden doesn't make gaffes during debates. (Although I'm praying he does this time.) I don't think Ryan is treating this as a cakewalk.
That said, I'm not buying the argument that if Biden manages not to embarrass himself, that means he wins. Much of the country still doesn't know Ryan. He's been portrayed by the Obama campaign as a mean Randian who wants to push grandma off the cliff. When Ryan shows up being polished and affable as well as in command of math, looking like the midwestern boy next door, he's going to impress people. Just as Romney demolished the "callous rich guy" persona constructed by the Obama campaign, so too will Ryan destroy the image of the "cold numbers wonk." He doesn't have to be mean to Biden (which would be a mistake), although he does have to raise the BS flag when Biden lies. Ryan will do a fine job being Ryan.

249 @219 - the big problem with the Volt aesthetically is the high beltline and those fake-window black areas under the windows. Otherwise, it's not bad. And mechanically it's not bad either. It's a good concept, and reasonably well executed, if you excuse the fact they can't build at a price that makes its sales profitable.

And let's reconfirm one point: the Volt is not an electric car. It's a series hybrid.

The Nissan Leaf is an electric car, and it's the current object lesson in what happens when you try to build an EV down to a price point.

Most EVs have actively-cooled battery packs (water or air circulated through the pack, controlled by a temperature-monitoring system.)

Nissan cheaped out. They decided they could get away with a passively-cooled battery pack.

The problem is that while they were running around advertising a 100-mile range, a real-world best-case is more like 65. And, because of the passive cooling, conditions outside that best-case (high or low temperatures, extreme current draw, etc.) both drain the battery faster than would be the case with an actively-cooled pack, and shorten the pack's life considerably.

They need to make the next-gen Volt look significantly more outlandish to boost sales.

"Can he really change his nature in the little time before the next debate?"

His nature IS not to change his nature. My guess is he'll tinker with some variable -- say, using someone else than Kerry as his sparring partner -- and think that'll be the thing that changes everything, so no need to prepare harder than before.

I remember back to my NPD father, how he'd always want to schedule one last big blowout talk that would, naturally, be the one that would convince me that He Is Right And I Am Wrong. So we'd have it, and it would never come out like he thought it would, so there would be a Next "ultimate" talk demanded...

Sometimes they would involve a psychiatrist he seriously thought would be the "referee" to declare that He Is Right blah blah blah. One of them was a talk-show psych prominent in California at the time. He came out of that session saying "he put his shoes on the table! damn hippie, no use...."

BINGO! It's funny to hear people say "oh, he just doesn't get challenged enough by the people around him." Well , whose fault is that? He could very easily go out and find conservatives to act as advisers and challenge him on his policies. He chose not to do so. Yup.

The thing that I find hilarious though, a few years back, CA added hybrids to the list of cars that could use the carpool lanes, even if there was only a single person riding, as long as you purchased the HOV stickers, which are big yellow jobs that are required on both rear side panels, plus the rear of the car. Hybrid owners in CA HOWLED mightily about having to deface their smugmobiles with great big ugly stickers in order to use the carpool lanes.

Even better, the yellow stickers all expired at the end of the program in mid-2011. New green and white stickers are available for some green vehicles. But a fair number of pre-2010 hybrids are now NOT ELIGIBLE for any carpool lane privileges. Heh.

291 This was the R strategy all along. Get to the first debate relatively even, then cream O.

What is interesting is that O apparently has raised a ton of $$$, and we don't yet know what Romney has raised.

What is also interesting is that O's campaign is completely off message and off strategy 30 days prior to the election. They are flailing.

When you are using Big Bird in your stump speech, and hoping against hope that a secret recording of 47% will save your campaign, you are in big, big trouble.

When you are celebrating a U3 of 7.8% when the U6 is 14.7% and most indicators suggest an impending recession, you're in big trouble.

When you have spent $450 million trying to make your opponent into a blithering idiot, and he shows in front of 70 million people that he's not, 30 days prior to the election, you are in trouble.

So where is all of your money going, O? You're burning up the cash.

The real question is where is R's money going.

Here's my current theory. Both sides realized from day one that this election is going to be determined by the composition of the actual voting electorate on Nov 6th. All that blogging about "unskew" and "skew" has a ring of truth to it--but not what everyone thinks.

Both sides know to a great degree of detail how someone will vote based on characteristics that can be mined from large databases (Facebook, anyone). All an election is in 2012 is turning out your demographic.

It's not about convincing anyone--it's about making sure anyone who is even weakly leaning to you comes out to vote for you. That's the new political strategy of the 21st century.

Suppress your opponent, but turn out your guys.

My guess is that's what R et al are thinking. They want to have an overwhelming advantage in cash when the time comes to turn out votes in all of the historically leaning R swing states.

Ads don't do it. Debates do. They've IDed the disappointed O voter, and they either want them to stay home or convert to O. Either way works.

O et al used Clinton to suppress R thought in September, but the debates put the onus squarely on O. "You've been president for four years." "I worked with a 87% Democratic legislature in Massachusetts."
That will turn out the moderate to independent R crowd.

It's going to work. Watch the NH polls--that will be an indicator.

You're kind of dumb, aren't you?

The only thing people are talking about is the debate and how Romney owned Obama. Nobody gives a shit about the unemployment numbers because we all live in this economy, even the average voter you disdain so much, and they know that things suck and are not getting better.

Romney's lead in Ras is not a bounce, its a turn in the election and when the third day rolls off it will continue to grow. Only 2/3 of today's numbers were based on post-debate interviews and nobody with half a brain thinks Obama looked anything other than pathetic and out of his league.

PPP is a joke. They had Walker up 3 points in their last WI poll and he went on to win by almost 7. If they have Romney down 2 right now he is probably up 2.

327 You know, the correlation of the jobs number with presidential popularity only works when the numbers actually reflect real conditions on the ground. People do not vote based on a number they see in the paper (especially when the unemployed can't AFFORD a paper).

If you and your neighbors and your kids are out of work or underemployed, that number doesn't mean squat. And when you factor in sky-high food and gas prices, it really isn't relevant.

Greg also might consider that some of the papers and TV people, who have been carrying Obama's water for almost 4 years, are probably pissed that after all the help they have given him, he didn't even bother to show up on debate night, standing there like a complete idiot (which he is). It made them look like fools. So the next few polls might not be weighted quite so heavily for democrats.

335 >>Then everyone here can whine and complain about how stupid people are to believe the numbers, lol.

Do you really want to talk numbers, skippy?

Ok, here are some numbers.

In Ohio in '08 Obama had a +14 turnout advantage in absentee votes. This year the number is down to +5. Keep in mind that Obama got over 40% of his vote in Ohio in '08 from absentees. If that is too hard for you to understand, that means the race has already started and Obama is losing.

In NC, the absentee ballots returned so far are Rep 13,000 and Dem 7,000. At this point in '08 the Reps had only 9,000. Again, Obama is losing.

In '08, Obama won Iowa with an absentee advantage of over 150K votes. This year the absentee advantage so far is down to about 75K. Again, Obama is losing.

While you are wasting your time looking at absurdly biased polls from PPP the race has already started and Obama is getting his ass kicked against his performance in '08 and this year McCain isn't running. Republicans are more enthusiastic to vote whether its for Romney or just against the idiot in the WH.

Obama is going to lose big. I hope you're man enough to show up here when the race is over.

336 #330 If gas prices meant nothing to people as you say, then why isn't his awesomeness polling better?

No one believes the numbers, even the low information voters. You see, when you yourself are out of work, to you the unemployment isn't 7.8%; it's 100%.

That's the typical response rate for all polls these days. People have stopped talking to pollsters.

In the past response rates were typically in the 30-60% range.

A new poll shows Mitt Romney flipping a 5-point deficit in Colorado before the first presidential debate, which was held on Wednesday in Denver, to a 3.5-point advantage later in the week — another signal that Mr. Romney's comparatively strong debate performance has started to translate into rising poll numbers for the Republican.
A poll from Gravis Marketing, conducted Oct. 3-4, shows Mr. Romney with a 49.4 percent to 45.9 percent lead over Mr. Obama. The president had held nearly a 5-point lead in a poll conducted Sept. 25, at 50.2 percent to 45.5 percent.
Mr. Obama's job approval numbers are also significantly underwater in the new poll: 40.5 percent approve, while 50.9 percent disapprove. Just 36.8 percent of voters say the country is on the right track, compared to 53.5 percent who think it's on the wrong track.

If that was the Obama campaign pulling ads, it would be a big deal. They are still outspending Romney there.

And, btw, why is Obama on the air already with an ad focused on the debate and Romney's "lies" when Romney, who did so well, can't come up with one? The Romney campaign is always passive and late, even when they have an advantage.

You really know nothing about elections, do you?

Obama had one of the worst debate performances since debates have been televised and Romney one of the best. Thats not conjecture, its been born out by survey after survey. Over 65 million Americans saw the bloodbath and things have been inalterably changed. Much as you try to down play it, this wasn't a single data point, this was a defining moment in the campaign and gave many people who have been waiting for a reason to vote against Obama the reason they needed.

Obama is desperate to change the subject or play down the event, thus the advertising. Romney is content to let the event speak for itself and is surging because of it.

Your arguments are pathetic. You haven't even bothered to try and refute the early voting numbers where Obama is getting crushed. And these aren't trivial numbers, over 30% of all votes are early and absentee.

Your lack of understanding of how elections actually work is pathetic. No wonder you are wrong so often.

Greg's not worried. He knows that's nothing compared to the number of people who watch Sunday morning talk shows.

And once they learn that Obama's brought the unemployment rate all the way down to where it was when he started, watch out...

353 Greg, although I was sick today, a friend volunteered at R/R HQ in Whitefish Bay (northern Milwaukee county). She reported they were swamped, the place was packed. And all the talk was about the huge ass-kicking your Lord Jesus took the other night. There was also a brisk business in lawn signs and bumper stickers. So, spin 'til you're dizzy, my ditzy little East Side neighbor, lie your head off - you know damn right well Chocolate Jesus is in trouble.
BTW, Greggie, check out the house on the corner of Ivanhoe and Terrace, with the huge R/R sign, guaranteed to give little East Side leftist pukes like you the runs. I've seen R/R signs in unlikely places - the East Side and Shorewood. Reminds me of the Walker recall. But I'm not seeing a whole lot of bambi signs.

354 Oh, Greg. You really need to lay off the crack pipe and the midol.
You were wrong about the recall, wrong about that butt faced Klopingtwat winning the Judge seat and you were laughably wrong wrong wrong about the house in 2010. In fact, you are so reliably wrong you should in charge of Obama's debate prep.

Now dry your tears, fix your makeup, and behave yourself like a good little bitch. "there is no wave, sob!"

357 Wisconsin Indies in presidential years usually break to the democrat. It also is becoming weekend polling so expect dem and moderate heavy sampling skews. Almost every weekend Rasmussen shows a bump for Obama. We'll see what happens this weekend. Don't think the "jobs" report will do anything, it hasn't in the past when it was bad for Obama.

Posted by: NWConservative at October 07, 2012 02:15 AM (M1gmo)

358 Here's hoping this keeps up. We know Ryan vs. Biden will look like a UFC highlight reel, but hopefully Romney can keep it up for his next two. Anything less than what we saw on Wed will be seen, in the media, as a loss for Romney, and unfortunately any media help, even in their snide way, can push this election.

Heres hoping in an attempt to get a boost Barack decides to call up the NY Jets to get a pep talk.

Given Romney has 92% of Rs, SCOAMF 89% of Ds, and the I vote is 51%-42% SCOAMF,....

The recent polling, both in Wisconsin and nationwide, was supposedly showing a Pubbie enthusiasm gap, with SCOAMF winning more Ds than Romney winning Rs.

362 I don't think Obama is up that much with Indy's in WI. I think Wisconsin comes down to the crossover vote in WI-01. I think Romney will do well enough in WI-07 and WI-08 to offset WI-03.
So will the good people of WI-01 vote twice for Ryan or will they vote for Obama. That is the question.
