Mother Jones Catches Paul Ryan Saying He Wants To Pursue Pro-Growth Policies

Oh no. They discovered our secret plan we've been broadcasting to the world 24/7.

The second video is a little better -- from their POV -- because it has Paul Ryan repeating a variation of the takers vs. makers analysis Romney just walked away from (the 47% thing).

But still, his point is kind of difficult to argue: Obviously, we need more makers in society than takers. Otherwise, we're Greece.

And they're still using RV.

RCP lets you superimpose either 2004 or 2008 on the current race. In 2008, McCain was tanking right now. This period is when Obama left him in the dust.

Instead, we've a race like 2004, with the party roles reversed. Obama is the incumbent with a not-great record. He got a good bounce coming out of the conventions (although I still don't see that the convention actually caused it), but then has been damaged by the first debate.

We're about where Kerry v. Bush was in 2004 in other words: Bush was 1.8 points ahead of Kerry, Obama is 1.4 points ahead of Romney.

Romney's in striking distance, but he has to keep hammering Obamandias.

Tactically, W's campaign arrested the slide after debate 1 by having Cheney go aggressive in the VP debate, we should look for Biden to try a reset.

Strategically, Obama's problem is regardless of these small oscillations, in terms of trajectory viz-a-viz 2004: W was a more popular president in 2004 running on a more robust economy (for simplicity, call GOTV equivalent) and squeeked one by in several major states. If the glide slope barely gets over 50% in 2004 and the fundamentals are all shifted down in 2012, the same slope won't get you there.

When we look back, I find it likely we'll be talking about why Obama thought he could recapitulate 2004 when his base isn't as solid as W's conservative one was and it coupled to exogenous economic performance.

R+4.63% - Average using the 2004 turnout model

It's been holding steady at O+2 since before the debate.

If so, and given a 3 day rolling average and all the previous days were +2 then the last sampling day to roll on for Romney was R+10.

Enter At Your Own Risk: Police Union Says ‘War-Like’ Detroit Is Unsafe For Visitors

...

"DETROIT (WWJ) – The men and women of the Detroit Police Department believe the city is too dangerous to enter, and they want citizens to know it.

Detroit Police Officer Association (DPOA) Attorney Donato Iorio said officers are holding the “Enter At Your Own Risk” rally at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in front of Comerica Park to remind the public that the officers are overworked, understaffed, and at times, fearful for their lives.

“Detroit is America’s most violent city, its homicide rate is the highest in the country and yet the Detroit Police Department is grossly understaffed,” Iorio told WWJ’s Kathryn Larson. “The DPOA believes that there is a war in Detroit, but there should be a war on crime, not a war on its officers.”"

WINDFALL: OBAMA RAISES $181 MILLION, ONLY AROUND 2% OF DONATIONS REPORTABLE

The Obama campaign dropped a bombshell this morning. It announced that, combined with the DNC, the campaign raised a staggering $181 million in September. The windfall is a huge increase over July and August, when the campaign raised around $100 million, although it is slightly down from the $193 million it raised in September 2008. The news should raise eyebrows.

The campaign said that just over 1.8 million people made donations to the campaign last month. According to the campaign, over 500k of these were brand-new donors, having neither given in 2008 nor 2012. 98% of contributions were under the reporting threshold of $250. Of these, the average contribution was $53.

Its really a tale of two worlds. 35k people gave an average of $2,600, while just over 1.7 million people gave an average of $53. Half the campaign's haul came from people giving around the maximum amount and half from people who don't have to be disclosed. Seems a bit odd.

The average of $53 from small donors is particularly noteworthy. Contributions under $200 don't have to be disclosed, but the campaign still has to keep track of the donor's name, in case subsequent donations push their contribution over the reporting threshold.

For contributions under $50, however, the campaign doesn't even have to keep track of the donor's name. It is effectively considered a "petty cash" donation. A person could theoretically make 10 $49 donations and never be reported, even though their total contributions are above the FEC's reporting threshold.

With an average donation of $53 from small donors, Obama has A LOT of donors who will never be disclosed and whose names aren't even known to the campaign. Tens of millions of dollars worth.

Today's report certainly adds a great deal of interest to this news story from last week.

250 Per Twitter, Newsweek is running the bombshell story on Obama fundraising next week.

If it is about using prepaid credit/debit cards to make small unreportable contributions, this should be a big f'ing deal.

I work for a major bank and just took my annual Bank Secrecy Act/Anti Money Laundering training. The BSA includes several "red flags" that REQUIRE both banks AND merchants to file reports with the government for suspicious activity that may indicate money laundering. Use of large quantities of small prepaid credit/debit cards is one of those red flags. The Obama campaign almost certainly has at a minimum accepted large numbers of untraceable donations online via prepaid credit cards, and I doubt it has reported this to any authorities. And if there are people out there buying these cards from a single bank, or even a small number of banks, they have also implicated the banks in a money-laundering scheme.

My guess is what they are doing is giving cash to volunteers to go into drug and grocery stores and buy up lots of $25 VISA, AMEX, and MasterCard gift cards and then making up names to input into the online contribution system. They use a different name every time so they do not risk having a bunch of them add up to a level that would have to be reported on the FEC report.

This is money laundering under the law and is illegal. Doesn't even touch the circumvention of the campaign finance laws, it's a violation of the Bank Secrecy Act. For all we know the cash is coming from Iran or Al Qaeda. The New York Financial Services Authority recently fined a British bank $150 million for laundering cash from Iran through its US subsidiary. This is serious shit to the government.

If this is indeed the story, the banks are going to raise holy hell about it. We spend shitloads of money on anti-money-laundering and the regulators examine us every year on BSA.

Per Twitter, Newsweek is running the bombshell story on Obama fundraising next week.

If it is about using prepaid credit/debit cards to make small unreportable contributions, this should be a big f'ing deal.

I work for a major bank and just took my annual Bank Secrecy
Act/Anti Money Laundering training. The BSA includes several "red
flags" that REQUIRE both banks AND merchants to file reports with the
government for suspicious activity that may indicate money laundering.
Use of large quantities of small prepaid credit/debit cards is one of
those red flags. The Obama campaign almost certainly has at a minimum
accepted large numbers of untraceable donations online via prepaid
credit cards, and I doubt it has reported this to any authorities. And
if there are people out there buying these cards from a single bank, or
even a small number of banks, they have also implicated the banks in a
money-laundering scheme.

My guess is what they are doing is giving cash to volunteers to go
into drug and grocery stores and buy up lots of $25 VISA, AMEX, and
MasterCard gift cards and then making up names to input into the online
contribution system. They use a different name every time so they do
not risk having a bunch of them add up to a level that would have to be
reported on the FEC report.

Thats the new definition for Walking Around Money in Obamaville.

This is money laundering under the law and is illegal. Doesn't even
touch the circumvention of the campaign finance laws, it's a violation
of the Bank Secrecy Act. For all we know the cash is coming from Iran
or Al Qaeda. The New York Financial Services Authority recently fined a
British bank $150 million for laundering cash from Iran through its US
subsidiary. This is serious shit to the government.

Illegal? When has this ever stopped the current Administration? We wont get any investigation from the current Government Agencies or Eric Lying SOS Holder's Justice Clown College. If they can magicly find 800K jobs, they wont have any problem overlooking this.

If this is indeed the story, the banks are going to raise holy hell
about it. We spend shitloads of money on anti-money-laundering and the
regulators examine us every year on BSA.

The point of the Mother Jones videos has something to do with the fact that they don't think he should like anything Rand ever said. He is supportive of some of philosophies but doesn't support all of AR's ideas(like views on religion, etc). The left has made it sound like he was on fire for Rand and walked back some of his support, but Ron Paul has stated the same views about Rand. I do not see anyone going after him for it.

Mother Jones would have been loved by modern feminists because her belief that women shouldn't have voting rights and neglect their home duties. The Left sure can pick their heroes. Mother Jones, Che, Mao, Margaret Sanger, etc.

283 If the current narrative isn't working, switch it real fast.

day before debate

"Come on my show and talk about why/how Obama won the debate."

next day

"Come on my show and talk about how irrelevant debates are..."

http://tinyurl.com/9vwyfpk

British journalist and historian Tim Stanley is a conservative expert on American politics. He blogged at the Telegraph (U.K.) website that the liberal media lost in the first debate, suffering a "humiliation for an industry that has spent several years setting Obama up as the wisest, most eloquent, most popular politician since FDR."

Stanley found that American media bookers fully expected Obama to dominate Romney, and were amazed with his bizarre theory that Romney would win. Then when Romney won, they called to ask if he would talk about how debates don't matter! He wrote:

In the last couple of days, I’ve done a lot of interviews talking about the debate. A conversation with one producer was illustrative of Romney’s battle against poor media expectations. He called just before the debate and said, “So, I guess Obama’s going to win easily tonight. Do you want to come on and talk about it?” I replied that I’d love to but that Romney was actually the stronger debater and I’d be tipping him to win. “Really?” Yes. “Well, that is a surprise. I’m not sure people will buy it, but if you want to say that – it's up to you.”

The day after the debate he rang again. I was expecting him to say, “Hey, you were right! Can you come on to talk about how Romney won?” Instead, he said, “Can you come to talk about how debates don’t really matter?” I sighed deeply.

Too passive. I don't care about 'sounding conspiratorial". It's a question of sounding reasonable in your accusation and that is easily done with this treasonous administration. If anyone questions the "conspiracy" behind the 7.8% all you have to do is bring up any number of the hundred+ other lies that this administration, as a whole, has spewed, starting with that insane benghazi and Cairo lie-fest that they are still pushing - which is so transparently stupid as to be intellectually offensive. You can then go into Fast & Furious, their lies about Romney, lies about the "arab spring", lies about the GOP not willing to work with them (even as barky had not even allowed anyone from the GOP to participate in that whole ObamaScare bullshit), lies about ObamaScare, lies about oil drilling, lies spewing from the DOJ, ...

It would take a total idiot to actually believe ANYTHING that came out of this administration. That is the position that one should take. And then you can go into the big lie about barky having a brain (which everyone knows is a joke). And on and on. Just pick any point in the last 4 years, look up the archives of this site or any news site and you can find a transparent lie or crime of this administration that you totally forgot about in the tsunami of lies and crimes that spill out of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

Does anyone still think that barky and his junta had nothing to do with the original Senate seat auction from way back in the beginning? LOL.

More than bits and pieces. For a little while there were whole threads on conservative sites devoted to people donating money to Barky's campaign in all sorts of joke names - to prove that the AVS had been turned off (and it had to be intentionally done since the default of AVS is "on" and no one with a brain turns it off for risk of serious chargebacks - not to mention how illegal it was to do such a thing with respect to federal campaign finance law). This had all started after Pam Geller had donated money to barky's campaign in the name "John Galt" and wrote a post about it. Then it all started spilling out, including "doodad pro" and all sorts of other joke names who were donating to Barky's illegal slush fund.

Everyone knew that it was a major crime but McShame, he of the un-Constitutional McShame-Feingold shit law, refused to even open his mouth about this crime (which was a crime by normal campaign finance law, let alone McShame's straightjacket abuse of our first amendment rights) and Bush's DoJ refused to do anything.

332 If you're so worried about babies, maybe you should be a little more willing to spend some tax dollars to deal with the fact that 1 out of every 5 babies born in America is born into poverty.

The right apparently wants to make sure every unwanted pregnancy ends in a birth, but then doesn't want to spend a single public dime to make sure those children have food, shelter, clothing, and adequate medical care.

You'll defend the rights of a zygote, but let millions of existing American kids go to bed hungry.

333 Whoa! Strawmen up above. Be careful around open flame.

334 The GOP has become an abomination. A party of greedy, dollar-worshiping hypocrites, who twist the constitution to justify their own self-centered thinking, and who would consider the Jesus of the bible a Marxist and a menace for casting the moneylenders out of the Temple.

Posted by: Jason at October 06, 2012 06:43 PM (ELEHD)

335 Pure strawman, Jason. The supply of babies falls far short of people's willingness to adopt. And I think the Left has abused the kindness of the Right for far too long. Your method of subsidizing welfare mothers is what leads to endless poverty. You artificially multiply what otherwise would be a small problem.

336 Wrong again, Jason. Christ did believe in personal responsibility.

If you want to talk hypocrisy, explain why all the pimps of Marxism tend to be rich rent seekers.

337 "I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

(Not to mention a rich man who believes Jesus is the brother of Satan, and that adhering to the beliefs of a bigamist cult leader will lead to you becoming the god of your own planet in the afterlife.)

339 He's paired up with ANOTHER cultist, whose cult founder preached that selfishness is a virtue, greed the driving force behind all worthwhile human achievement, that the human race is divided into admirable first-handers and contemptable second-handers, and that only the rare Superior Man is worthy of being a role model and leader. A woman's highest purpose is to submit to the will of such a man.

You people need to do your homework.

340 That's the sound of you brain on choom. But it's not raining outside. I don't get it.

341 It's not that hard to get, but the most obvious things are often the easiest to miss.

It's known Romney is a devout Mormon. Look into the core beliefs of Mormonism.

Ryan has said on many occasions that he was most influenced by the thinking of Ayn Rand. Look into what it was she believed.

THEN tell me I'm wrong.

Posted by: Jason at October 06, 2012 07:26 PM (ELEHD)

342 Jesus did not say it was impossible, just difficult for a rich guy to enter heaven. I'm pretty if St. Peter had to choose between to rich guys, he'd choose the one who didn't advocate killing babies.

Posted by: Invictus at October 06, 2012 07:40 PM (OQpzc)

343 No one advocates anything but the idea that women should be allowed to make their own moral decision, taking into account the advice of their doctors and in accordance with the dictates of their own conscience and beliefs. That's based on fundamental constitutional principles.

No one can say with authority at what point a developing zygote becomes a vessel holding a human soul. God HAS NOT authorized right wing politicians or fundamentalist ministers to speak on His behalf. They presume too much.

You would be wrong. God has tasked us with opposing evil. Baby killing is evil.

Killing babies is not a moral decision. Not getting knocked up is the moral choice. Killing a child to cover up thier total lack of responsibility is a degradation of true moral character, and no phony legal argument can change that. We approve this as a society at a very large cost to our souls. Killing babies is so evil it does not even require a dedication to a particular religion to oppose.

I oppose killing the only true innocents among us the same way I oppose all murder. Even state sanctioned murder. As any honest person would.

345 Within ten weeks of inception an abortionist is stopping a beating human heart. How is that not murder?

Posted by: Invictus at October 06, 2012 08:23 PM (OQpzc)

346 #345

You call it murder only because you have already assumed that there is something more than a purely biological process going on from the first moment of fertilization. Others do not make that assumption. Others believe that the biological beginnings that lead to a person are not THE SAME AS a person.

Posted by: Jason at October 06, 2012 09:20 PM (ELEHD)

347 It is a seperate being with a unique DNA and a beating heart. That is a person.

I've got an idea. Let's let it be born, and breath air into its lungs. Let it cry out in its own voice. Let's let it see the light with its own eyes.
Let it protest with its own voice your desire to kill it.

348 And if it's born in a Muslim country, let's drop a bomb on it, and feel self-righteous about doing it.

Right wingers are complete idiots.
