| David Axelrod Explicitly Asks Press To Make The Case Against Romney That Obama Can't![]() All but stating that Mitt Romney had won the Denver debate, Axelrod conceded that the performance aspect was 'not the President's strong suit in these events' but insisted that 'I don't see us adding huge amounts of additional prep time'. Axelrod, speaking on a campaign conference call, made an appeal to reporters to make the points that Obama himself had failed to make in the debate 'All of you who travel on the road with Governor Romney know that he just few weeks ago stood up and said we didn't need any more teachers,' he said. 'Last night he couldn't be more enthusiastic about teachers and more teachers.'Unrelated: Hey, Romney really was like a whole different person last night, eh? Comments1

Why wouldn't Axelrod and the Donks do this?
They are in bed together. We have seen with our own eyes and ears the 'media' coordinating predetermined lines of attack on the GOP nominee. Remember when those reporters were caught on tape colluding to ambush Romney. Remember how Obama granted a rare press conference and the first question from a 'reporter' was teed up so he could hit it out of the park. These motherfuckers are in bed together. Romney steamrolled Obama and the 'moderator' last night. He has learned well from Gingrich. The student is now the master. The circle complete. Next up, Ryan is going to skull fuck SloJoe. We will drink their tears. Posted by: General Woundwort at October 04, 2012 01:44 PM (06lNq) 30

Obama is doing his part of the debate today, according to yahoo news:
President Barack Obama, stung by bad reviews in his first debate of the 2012 White House race, joked that the "very spirited fellow" onstage with him was "not the real Mitt Romney." Obama also mocked the former Massachusetts governor's pledge to cut government subsidies for PBS as "finally getting tough on Big Bird." and Democratic Senator Mark Udall told the crowd Obama had been "thoughtful, dignified, substantive, and truthful." "He told us what he's for," Udall said, as the crowd cheered. Udall later told reporters that the Obama campaign's energy level was "a little low this morning." "But campaigns are peaks and valleys," he added with a shrug. http://tinyurl.com/8svbb93 Posted by: mallfly at October 04, 2012 01:45 PM (bJm7W) 42

Long term thought...
The fact that it is now expected that the candidates to lead the free world will have to outline, in detail, their health care insurance plans benefit bybenefit, and how many more teachers they will hire, is a losing battle for conservatism. Not that Republicans can't win under those expectations, they can, but conservatism can't. Posted by: CJ at October 04, 2012 01:46 PM (9KqcB) 46

I suppose he is referring to when Romney quoted a study that showed that within a reasonable margin that class size was a smaller factor in education than the quality of the teacher, the educational approach and the school itself.
At no point did he say, "We have enough teachers." He just referred to an actual study saying that class size (again, within a reasonable margin) was NOT the most important factor. Posted by: Tommy V at October 04, 2012 01:47 PM (ZYlKz) 55

Didn't have time to post this in the last thread:
Have we put together a top ten list of Reasons Obama Sucked at the First Debate yet? Because it really needs to happen. 10. Didn't get anticipated question about tax cuts for caddies. 9. Just watched "Things To Do In Denver When You're Dead", was freaked that Mitt would go all Steve Buscemi on him. 8. Became nervous when told that calling Bill Clinton on his lifeline wasn't allowed. 7. In his debate prep, John Kerry spent the entire time mimicking Scrooge McDuck. 6. Gave wrong address to SEAL Team 6, resulting in mission failure to apprehend Rob Portman. 5. Inhalation of Debbie Wasserman-Shultz's hair care chemicals after sharing makeup room nearly killed him. 4. Nefarious plan to replace Romney's decaf with regular did not have the desired effect. 3. Took a couple of "vitamins" from Diane Sawyer's purse before the debate. 2. Was counting on use of the teleprompter, didn't realize it was behind him for use by Jim Lehrer. 1. Spent all day pouting with Michelle after being told that use of Air Force One will not be included in his severance package next month. Posted by: Hollowpoint at October 04, 2012 01:50 PM (SY2Kh) 72

The president won the debate. Its just your racist interpretation and clouded thinking if you feel otherwise.
The black guy needs some help in these debates - from birth he has been at a disadvantage. So, we should create a different scoring system to atone for our past sins. The current debate format favors white debaters - clearly everyone sees that. We need to make sure that no matter how much stammering, stuttering, rambling, incoherent shit spews from his mouth, we take into account these disadvantages. So, whenever the JEF puts together an object and an action into what appears to be a sentence, we'll credit him with a full retort. Sound fair? Let the affirmative action experiment continue. Tell everyone we're going to Ludicrous Speed. Posted by: David Duke at October 04, 2012 01:50 PM (v6ewg) 75

I suppose he is referring to when Romney quoted a study that showed that within a reasonable margin that class size was a smaller factor in education than the quality of the teacher, the educational approach and the school itself.
Posted by: Tommy V at October 04, 2012 01:47 PM (ZYlKz) Many studies - probably all- conclude that class size (up to some limits) pretty much is irrelevant to how well the kids learn. Orders placed with U.S. factories fell in August by the most in more than three years, signaling that slowdowns in business investment and exports restrained the economic expansion.
The 5.2 percent decrease in bookings was the biggest since January 2009 and followed a revised 2.6 percent increase in July, the Commerce Department said today in Washington. The median forecast of economists in a Bloomberg News survey called for a decline of 5.9 percent. Demand for durable goods dropped 13.2 percent, the same as reported last week, while shipments of non-durables, which includes such things as petroleum and chemicals and often reflect swings in price, climbed 2.2 percent. I offer this by way of atonement (Kos Sippee Cup reasoning):
Obama is sticking to stock talking points. He should have explained with a clear example how a small business can still hire with the increased tax rate on tiers above 250K. " Let's say you have a company that makes a million dollars. Let's say the net proft is 250K, they won't pay a single extra dollar in higher taxes. If they make a 350K profit, that is ony 3000 dollar extra in taxes. And if they decide to hire an extra person at 100K, it won't matter to this business whether the marginal tax rate is 3% higher or not, because he gets to write off this. And under the new system, he is only paying 97K more because that is 3K less taxes he is paying anyway". Posted by: Count de Monet at October 04, 2012 02:02 PM (BAS5M) 159

See my post at 139, I've been doing that for two years. Making AARP waste 45 cents or whatever it is now gladdens my black heart. I hate those weasels -- for them, Obamacare was a way to break Medicare so old people would have to buy their insurance policies. All AARP is is an insurance company that pretends to be a special interest group. Having them now complain about Obumbles using them as a prop is really freaking ungrateful of them. I suppose he is referring to when Romney quoted a study that showed that within a reasonable margin that class size was a smaller factor in education than the quality of the teacher, the educational approach and the school itself. Posted by: Tommy V at October 04, 2012 01:47 PM (ZYlKz)
Many studies - probably all- conclude that class size (up to some limits) pretty much is irrelevant to how well the kids learn. The Teacher's Unions and PTAs have tried to bury that fact for years. Posted by: LASue at October 04, 2012 01:53 PM (wAhNv) We a new tough superitendent who looks the union right in the eye and says studies show it has minimal effect on grades K-3. After that, almost none. With that, we furloughed 70 teachers to pay for their pay raise and increased class sizes, slightly. The world did not end. "Math, common sense and our history show us that is not a recipe for growth." Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Obama rejected the reality that within 18 months, tax cuts and federal spending cuts DID enable an increase in federal tax revenue proven HISTORICALLY subsequent to Wilson's WWI administration. When Republicans assumed the White House and exercised federal austerity of SMALL GOVERNMENT and cut taxes (thank Coolidge libertarian republican), the federal revenue increased comfortably because of America's prosperity. Common sense wasn't exercised as the "Roaring Twenties" progressed into too-big-to-fail because like today, it was legal to borrow money in order to speculate "investments" already inflated beyond any intrinsic value. But even then, it took an entire decade of inflating personal economic decadence (not government spending!) before the bubble burst and Wall Street crashed 1929. Our situation today, so much worse, regarding federal banking regulations and FDIC bailouts was only hinted by both candidates last night without being directly addressed. Even the Democrat New Deal FDR Glass-Steagall Act (1933) included regulations that clearly defined limitations on banking functional roles. By steering clear of Glass-Steagall Act (1933 FDR)-- http://tinyurl.com/kszo97 -- both candidates verify expectations that more corrupt bailouts will come on the backs of US taxpayers at the expense of the next generation(s), regardless of who wins '12. Has Romney the balls to hat-tip the libertarian republican small government traditions as his ideal, or is he satisfied with honesty in that arbitrarily cheating "because I could" for his own advantage (RNC Campaign Rules to disenfranchise grassroots Republicans) he won't do anything to hold the Federal Reserve responsible for their own corruption, but wants to be a "good" too-big-to-fail federal government Chief Executive. I know. You know. "The Repo Men" There is yet a realistic disconnect with his lines against "Trickle Down Government," "If it requires borrowing money from China, just say no and cut a bureau's budget request"(exception: no limit to Military expenditures), and "I won't sign any check to Europe" (but won't stop The Fed from bailing them out). Nah, I don't want another false messiah out of the GOP. But it would be great to know that Mitt would respect his dad's conclusions regarding interventionist wars being a mistake that requires brainwashing to support v. George W. Bush's so-called "doctrine." Posted by: panzernashorn at October 04, 2012 02:39 PM (BAnPT) 261

I have this same argument with a relative of mine working in management for Louisiana Public Broadcasting all the time... Most of the stuff that people actually watch, like Sesame Street, Nova, etc., will survive if PBS goes away. What this will get rid of is likely to be shows no one watches as well as some of the little side projects associated with the big-name shows, like the foreign versions of Sesame Street which teaches South African kids about HIV and condoms or tells Palestinian kids to kill the Jews. 257 Council Bluffs sold all you needed to supply a wagon train "out west" starting out on the Oregon Trail.
Referencing what replaced the wagon trails in 1869, last night Obama touted Lincoln's decision to tax fund what should have remained a private enterprise, the transcontinental railway, one of the biggest tax frauds and most corrupt and inept American businesses of all time, not to mention a grotesque land grab from pioneers (often murdered for not selling out without any decent reimbursement offered) who'd already bought and settled the co-opted railway land. #237, Anna, that was one of 19 Distinguished Service Crosses and 1 Silver Star for the 442nd Infantry that were upgraded after a pretty heavy review.
Did his get upgraded because he was a sitting Senator? Dunno. The 442nd had 52 DSCs, and 19 were upgraded. Then again he wouldn't have been a Senator had he not played the war hero card and gone into politics. He was going to go back to med school until he lost an arm. Don't like the guy's politics much, but he was a heck of a gunfighter along with most of the 442nd, so I don't begrudge him the original award or the upgrade. Tax funds granted to PBS go into employee status quo salaries and whatever "new" productions that amount to the latest progressive Marxist "news" propaganda and cooking shows.
Hadn't thought about the cooking shows. Without PBS, where oh where would I turn to watch a cooking show? Or at least one not hosted by a convicted pedophile? Posted by: VJay at October 04, 2012 03:05 PM (q5NFp) 276

AARP tells Obama keep our name out of it.
You mean after all those stupid Andy Grifith ads you bought, now you don't want to be associated with it? Fucking assholes Posted by: Schwalbe: The Me-262© at October 04, 2012 03:32 PM (UU0OF) 278
We think Romney treated our presadent with great desrespect. He never left him answer the questions and talked almost no stop for an hour. How rude and the world sees this and now thinks we are week. Good job Romney for making the US look bad and supporting our presadant. Posted by: Mary Clogginstein from Brattleboro, VT at October 04, 2012 01:54 PM (48wze)Canseco/Clogginstein 2012.

Years ago, I worked at a place where the boss had something called "the Can of Lies" on his desk. It was an ordinary coffee can with slips of paper in it on which were written excuses: "The dog ate my homework", say, or "I was kidnapped by aliens" - that sort of thing. When an employee started making excuses for screwing up, the boss would pick a slip from the Can of Lies, hand it to the employee, and tell him to read it. That was the boss's way of getting past the bullshit and back to work, and I have to say, it worked pretty well. So, I wonder what's in the Can of Lies on Obama's desk? "Romney Lied", obviously. "RACIST!", of course. "I was busy being president" is in there. And "It's Bush's Fault". I can tell for certain, though, the one slip that isn't in Obama's Can of Lies, or anywhere else on his desk: "The Buck Stops Here". Posted by: Brown Line at October 04, 2012 03:38 PM (VrNoa) 280
Obama is a stuttering clusterf*ck of a miserable failure.
