Another Misrepresentation: There's Actually No Evidence At All Suggesting That Gitmo Detainee Released By Bush in 2007 Had Anything To Do With Benghazi Attack

When I first heard this, I thought bullshit. And the reason was simple: The Obama Administration was lying left and right to cover up the fact that they had dropped the ball in Benghazi and this had resulted in the murders of four men.

Given the furious spinning, I found it very suspicious that yet another avenue of spin suddenly emerged -- Blame Bush.

Turns out, it was bullshit. From start to finish. But they got that meme out there, didn't they?

Don't expect the retraction to be reported.

At Foreign Policy’s The Cable, Josh Rogin provides an update on reports connecting a former Guantanamo detainee named Sufyan Ben Qumu to the September 11 attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya. Rep. Adam Smith, the Democrats’ ranking member on the House Armed Services Committee, said today that there is “no evidence” that Qumu was “directly involved.” After a classified briefing on September 21, Smith labeled Qumu a “person of interest” in the consulate attack.

“All I meant was that the person I mentioned has known al Qaeda affiliations and was in Libya. And really, that's it,” Smith said during a conference call with the “left-leaning National Security Network,” according to Rogin. “Whether or not he was directly involved with the people engaged in the attack, there's no evidence of that.”

It's still possible that Qumu was somehow involved in the attack -- he is in Libya, he is a bad actor, and he does lead one of the several groups called "Ansar al Sharia," one of which might be responsible for the attack.

Nevertheless: Without any evidence except for a Democratic Representative telling a left-leaning group on a conference call that This Guy Lives In Libya, we got several days' worth of "Blame Bush" from the press.

Blame the video, blame Bush. Anything it takes to provide a Narrative different from the obvious one, to wit: Why did a consulate in an Al Qaeda town have absolutely no security whatsoever?

44 Hailing a “season of progress” in Tunisia, Egypt and Libya, President Barack Obama told the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday that Americans see themselves in the protests that swept the Arab world:

“We were inspired by the Tunisian protests that toppled a dictator, because we recognized our own beliefs in the aspirations of men and women who took to the streets,” Obama said. “We insisted on change in Egypt, because our support for democracy put us on the side of the people.”

As CNSNews.com reported in March, Tunisian lawmakers — trying to draft a new constitution — are now debating the place of Islamic law in that constitution. The new constitution looks set to describe shari’a as “the principal source of legislation.”

Brown called the law’s signing a reaffirmation of women’s basic constitutional rights.

The problem with such a target rich environment of lies is that there's too much to shoot at. Whatever the reason for the low security, Stevens was an old Libya hand and took well-informed risks, which proved risky.

We're still in a world where outside of the dextrosphere everyone thinks that there was a riot in Benghazi on 9/11 that was just like the one in Cairo except it got out of hand. I say focus on the biggest lies first.

101 A new California law could expose young women who have abortions to additional safety risks because it allows unlicensed individuals to perform abortions under certain circumstances, according to pro-life advocates. California Gov. Jerry Brown signed the bill into law over the weekend permitting nurse practitioners, physician’s assistants and midwives to perform abortions due to what Democrats see as a shortage of available doctors. Brown called the law’s signing a reaffirmation of women’s basic constitutional rights. Can't let a unborn baby slip by now can we? Kill Kill Kill

He may stumble around and act all surprised that many ME countries are now in the hands of the MB, but this is what he (and the Code Pinkos and Ayers/Dohrn, yes, they're a part of this too.) had planned all along.

Frankly I think he is so self absorbed believing in a higher power (other than himself) is not likely."

He is whatever he needs to be at any particular time to further his own ends. Some days he's Southern and folksy, droppin' his g's, y'all. Other days, he's a fire-breathing urban reverend. Today, he's a wise and pious Islamic scholar. Tomorrow, he'll be a tax-cutting fiscal hawk.

The common denominator in all those personalities though is that, whatever he happens to be that day, he is also and always a preening, self-absorbed Douchebag (Capital D).

TOTALLY against protocol, but the Magical Negro never got called out on it.

190 Here's how it will go:

Romney doesn't meet with foreign leaders (b/c Obama hasn't either):

MEDIA: "In a break from tradition, Romney has chosen not to meet with foreign leaders during this week's UN General Assembly, something the opposing candidate in a Presidential election has traditionally done. Has Romney just revealed himself as a Not-Ready-For-Primetime Player in the arena of foreign policy?"

Romney DOES meet with foreign leaders (despite Obama not doing so):

MEDIA: "Mr. Romney has gaffed again! In a break from tradition, Mr. Romney met with foreign leaders this week, something that is traditionally done by the opposing candidate only when the sitting President has also met with those same leaders. Has Romney just revealed himself as a Not-Ready-For-Primetime Player in the arena of foreign policy?""

191 I have never bought into the whole "Obama is a Muslim!!11!!" thing, I generally think someone who loves himself that much must be an athiest. But this whole "The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam" is pretty scary to hear coming out of the mouth of an American president. Obama vigorously defends Islam as he defends few other things, including his own country.

Owing to the fact that islam is a political ideology built around a primitive culture and not a religion, "being a muslim" is a political and cultural statement, not a religious one. It doesn't matter if Barky kisses the ground 5 times a day or believes in allah the moon spirit. Barky was born and raised a muslim, has the sensibilities of a muslim, and works for muslim interests at every turn. He is, for all intents and purposes, a muslim. The minor religious aspect of the political ideology is incidental in the analysis. Stop thinking of islam as a religion (since at its core it really isn't) and you won't have any problem seeing barky as the muslim he actually is. His actions and words say all one needs to know about where his sympathies lie and what his core personality is and that is with islam. No doubt about that, at all.

islam is not related to Judaism or Christianity other than mo having had tried to steal some fast legitimacy by plagiarizaing parts of the Old and New Testaments and inserting himself into the Biblical line - which is laughable seeing that muslims can't even follow the history of the last few decades accurately, let alone being able to keep track of anything over the 2000+ years from the establishment of Judaism to the perverted, depraved plagiarized versions that became the minor religious aspects of the koran.

I heard some buzz about some awful advertisements being put in the NYC subways. They wouldn't even really say what the posters said, just that it was somehow incendiary, or something.

Well, I finally got a look, and it doesn't seem bad at all. Basically, they're calling "Jihad" somethinguncivilized that is performed by "savages", and suggesting the support of Israel, who lies in opposition to same.

Well, if blowing up civilians with little kids tied to bomb vests, and violating the sanctity of foreign embassiesisn't the "uncivilized" work of "savages", it makes you wonder what is.

Sunnis and Shiites view each other as utter scum worthy of extermination ... but they still ally with each other to harm the West and other non-muslims.

islam is all about political power - and then total control of people. That is what islam was built around - constructed to support a growing arab land empire and total dictatorial regime that required unquestioning submission of conquered peoples. muslims will do anythign and ally with anyone or anythign to achieve this.

203 Anti-Blasphemy?

Just remember what Islam considers Blasphemy.

Ch 5 Ver 72 (Yusuf Ali)

They do blaspheme who say: "Allah is Christ the son of Mary."
But said Christ: "O Children of Israel! worship Allah, my Lord and your
Lord." Whoever joins other gods with Allah,- Allah will forbid him the garden,
and the Fire will be his abode. There will for the wrong-doers be no one to
help.

Remember, a public proclamation that Christ is LORD will be punishable in the future blasphemy free world that Obama imagines.

true God from true God,
begotten, not made, one in Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made."
