Fishes, Loaves, And SRO Seating: Media Celebrates The Miracle of Obama's Rally

The media estimated that 18,000 turned out to see Obama at a "park."

One problem: The arena (not a park) he spoke at has a capacity of 5,000 people, and was not filled.

I don't even know what to say anymore. I know they'll say, as usual, that this is just an error and they can't get them all right, but they never make an error against Obama's interest. All errors are made in his favor.

Those are not errors, then. If "errors" are all made to the same side, then the system is, yes, biased to error in favor of that side.

If Obama loses -- and I believe he will -- the media will lose greatly. A shift against Obama, and the unavoidable "What Went Wrong" which must follow, would include all of those stories and inputs they refused to cover.

It will be an even greater indictment of them than of Obama. Obama will be repudiated, but they will be humiliated.

I think they must know this, so they are throwing it all away, reputation, credibility, all of it, because they know they'll suffer an even more devastating blow if Obama loses.

Plus, personally, they all drank the Kool Aid. On a personal level they want this more than they've ever wanted anything.

Thus, the Big Show. The constant distractions and excitements; the hype and the hucksterism.

Even PT Barnum would be aghast.

Below, an audio metaphor for the media's frenetic, frantic, frenzied (why use one word when you can use three that mean the same thing?) desperation plate-spinning to keep the public tuned in to The Obama Channel.

And, for that matter, it seems to me that several "mainstreams" are collapsing: News media, entertainment, diet and health, and education. There are these huge organization in all of these fields that have been operating on a number of assumptions that are turning out to be false. These institutions can't change. They're too big and the conventions are too ingrained.

But I can't see how they collapse or what they are replaced with.

104 >>>May as well set up the disappointment

I am expecting one of those reality finally catches up CNN moments, where they call the Race for Obama on their own polls, then have to reverse themselves, with that "What do you mean we didn't win?"

I'm going to record it, and add graphics to point out every quivering lip, every long pause, when they finally hit rock bottom and have, *nothing* to show for their worship to Obama.

Posted by: MikeTheMoose Regular! With Full Stomping Power! at September 24, 2012 06:17 PM (0q2P7)

105 And that's why I keep saying they will not adjust their polls to likely voters or--God forbid--current party ID.

They'll keep pushing 2008 level party ID and registered (or adults, if that's what it takes) polls to keep the JEF within 3%.

If they have to skew it with 60% unmarried women, they will.

Every lie, cheat and steal they can pull to keep the dream alive, they'll do.

See, they figure, once they've won this year, they'll have a lock forever and "hello, Fairness Doctrine" if you don't know what they've got planned.

107 Little does the media know that sharp knives will come out for it. wielded by those they believe are their close political allies.

"Why didn't you tell us ObamaCare was so unpopular? Why did you tell us that Obama's international policies were so terribly wrong? Why didn't you help us shine light on what could have been fixed in time for the election? Had you told us the economy was still collapsing when Obama was saying it was growing, the Leader wouldn't have been made a fool out of! You made him a failure!"

Careers will be ruined, and rightfully so. Had they done their job and told Obama he was doing nothing but touch "third rails," he would have moderated and been re-elected. Goodbye MSNBC. The parent company will be forced to shutter it when the party loyal turns its backs. Maddow will join Obermann in video blogging from her parents basement in pajamas. Tingles the Wet Leg Clown will join the Pimp with a Limp and do unpaid political commentary from independent leftist bookstores in exchange for praise and free coffee. Newsweak will shutter its doors, unable to even pay the annual registration on its domain name. Huffington Post will become an overcroweded lifeboat of depressed hippies and political parasites, entertaining the right with weekly stories of in-fighting as they throw off dead weight or collectively sink.

When Newsweek went tits up it was blamed on the internet and the outdated nature of the weeklies. But I don't see any of the Big Three or cables networks simply ceasing to do the news. And since the cable networks are well-known brands I don't see them disappearing. It just doesn't cost that much for huge corporations to keep channels on the air.

The same goes for the major newspapers. No one reads them anymore, and their influence on the narrative far outstrips their circulation.

I'm starting to think that there won't be any moment or event that we can point to.

The same kind of thing is happening in health. People are losing faith in their Dr.s, the USDA, AMA, AHA, ADA, etc., and are taking control of their health by looking outside the mainstream. These people have been trained and indoctrinated since birth to be what they are. Every grade and every reward they have ever received in their lives has been based upon how well they understand and support the statist orthodoxy. One election won't change that. A thousand elections won't change that. These people have never been allowed to think for themselves and if the truth be known they have no interest in doing so.

The only thing that will change it is either creating an alternative media or taking over the traditional media. If the Kochs or Adelson really want to make a difference then they can buy MSNBC for $2 in a couple of years and hire people who are sane. Throwing money at the Republicans is at best a holding action and more likely just a waste of resources.

I am sure there were people in "the media" that looked into the life and times of Barack Hussein Obama. There are probably some interesting files at the NY Times, Washington Post, the alphabet networks, etc.

It's just a decision was made that this stuff would NEVER see the light of day. And there is much more that could have been found but nobody wanted to look. Remember the Michael Isikoff story about Lewinsky that got spiked at Newsweak, and then was "leaked" to Matt Drudge? The belief is that Isikoff actually leaked it to Drudge because he was disgusted he couldn't get his story told.

I wonder how much stuff that is pushed on certain righty blogs is actually stuff that was leaked to them by people at the major Media places that are actually disgusted that a lot of basic truths on filewere never told about Obama?

Liberal justices overturning results for Romney. Do overs that give the unions time to bus in thousands into the key precincts necessary to swing it. Or, to borrow from his executive order strategy, just say no. It is too dangerous now and there is enough evidence the right cheated so we are proceeding as if Obama won because we knew he must have.

And in other news: I went to the Gotham TEA Party gathering tonight in midtown Manhattan, and some intrepid souls reported that they've been out knocking on doors and handing out flyers, in Manhattan, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

Their report? DO NOT BELIEVE THE POLLS: people were saying 2-1 that they were voting for the Republican ticket (Pa.); and even on Manhattan's Upper West Side (aka Pinko Paradise), their table with leaflets and information was approached by a great many curious and courteous people.

Until -- some Leftwads got the word that Patriots had had the temerity to appear in the Sacred Precincts of Leftdom, and some thugs showed up: these guys, said Eric, were dressed in business suits, but he recognized a couple of them as being OWS thugs from a rally in 2010. One of the TEA Party gals was the brave and passionate "Barbara from Harlem," and these guys were getting right up against her face, saying vicious things, holding their cellphones inches away from her nose and transmitting her picture to the Internet, live.

Classic intimidation tactics. BUT note well -- the National Review reporter who went to OWS when it first got started in Zucotti Park said that -- 19 of the 21 tables with literature had Communist leaflets and books.

Yeppers, the Commies were the main presence at Occupy Wall Street: their chief organizers, instigators, and bully-boys. Intimidation and violence are an art form with these types. And racism: anti-semitic slurs and anti-black slurs were fired at our friends.

Barbara was unfazed. She spoke a the TEA Party gathering tonight, and said, "We are a FREE PEOPLE! When we decide to throw off the chains, we throw them OFF! Get out there, and FIGHT for this election!!!" Brought the house down.

Most encouraging is hearing that those who are brave enough to go out and organize and hand around information are finding that Most of the people they talk to are either receptive, or already on our side.

Part of the war by the Left -- a huge part -- is in convincing the masses that "it's hopeless; there's no point in getting out there and voting." Or "it's hopeless: if you get out there and hand out literature, people will spit on you." Or "it's hopeless: if you reveal your opinions at work, you'll be fired!" And so on.

But they are a Paper Tiger. Yes, they can fuck you up good if you work in certain industries, but in most, it won't happen: and I suspect that, if more of us speak up, people will start to look around and say, "Yeah, you know, I've been thinking that, too!" My niece discovered that almost all her friends in ART school voted for McCain. She was brave enough to admit it, and then all her friends admitted they had, too!
