14 Once again. Liberals are bold but not courageous and Conservatives are courageous but not bold. We need to keep that in mind when looking at how the campaign progresses. The courageous will prevail over bold as the truth continues to leak out. Keep a positive outlook for all to see until such timeas the outcome is determined. It costs nothing to do so and has no downside.

15 The NYT piece about the Romney campaign is more propaganda, the author gives it away by his/her characterization of the Romney "secret tape".

Nothing these people do or say can "disappear" the fact that Obama didn't deliver on his lofty 2008 promises and that the nation is chomping at the bit to vote against him - especially the indies.

34 From the article on the tax penalty for those without insurance:

"Starting in 2014, virtually every legal resident of the U.S."

Yeah. There's a huge freaking hole right there. You want to help cut back on out of control medical costs? Stop giving Medicaid and other similar benefits to those with less than legal status, revise the no dumping law to clarify that emergency services must be provided without concern regarding payment only for truly emergency matters (read life or limb threatening matters) and start deporting illegals.

35 @26 Does it never occur to people that TV ads have an ever-diminishing ROI for campaigns? That is not to say they are ineffective. They are just not as high a return as other methods of voter targeting and motivating.

Remember, as Romney himself said about not wanting to be "right too soon," he doesn't need to win today. He needs to win on 11/6. It is certainly better to be see as being ahead now but does anybody really think that the MSM will allow that story to take hold against Obama? Really?

When pollsters have to double the Dem% over 2008's number in bloody Wisconsin to try to drive a pro-Obama narrative, the writing is on the wall. Obama is losing. Everybody who has a minimum level of math ability understands this.

Everything else is white noise designed to try to save Dear Leader and/or keep eyeballs watching TV as long as possible.

We all want to gloat and rub the numbers in the libs faces. I'd just rather do it the morning of 11/7 more than today. Today would be nice but 11/7 is when it counts.

Be not afraid.

36 I will keep telling you all until you stop falling for it but, none of
the media-affiliated polls--NONE--will change their screen before election day.

Quit saying they will, quit thinking they will, quit hoping they will--they will not.

They've told so many lies for the JEF, covered up so damned much stuff, they've already rationalized one more "little" lie.

See, they have convinced themselves that 2008 wasn't a mere Democrat wave, rather, they believe that 2008 was the new normal of elections. Hey, they're Democrats so it's not that unusual to think there are more Democrats like them.

So, none of the polls will A) adjust their weighting to 2010 or (no chance in Hell) to the current self-ID, and B) release any result that shows the JEF behind by more than 3 points.

We have seen so many examples of their "honesty" over the last 4 years--and unbelievably, it's only managed to get worse--why do we still pretend they care about their reputation at this point?

I am convinced that the Romney camp sees it as let Obama spin his wheels like he has been until the end of the month, and then in October (or if absolutely needed before then) just open up the flood gates since that's when the debates will be and people will be paying attention. At least that's what I keep telling myself.

46 I've had insurance for decades, but I will be penalized because my high deductible plan does not qualify (have to be under 30). I'm not even sure they will still offer my plan.

This tax will also hit more than those six million, it will hit those that have their rates skyrocket in order to cover the irresponsible. THAT is what Obamacare is ... funding at full rates, those that fill hospitals. It is a huge tax on the 85% that have insurance, so insurance companies, hospitals and lawyers can get paid in full, as they offer "free health care" to those that won't care about escalating costs.

I agree, I definitely think you need to have a presence on TV, but there's a point where they just aren't effective. I know that I always change the channel when an Obama ad comes on. Last month when I was in Norfolk VA, my uncle said if he had one wish it would be for no more political ads. I think people have really tuned out the typical ads, which is why I think a couple of ads with the positive testimonals from people that Romney's helped would go a long way. Nothing about politics, just tell the story and sell the guy, maybe include at the end something like "Mitt's a great guy and I know he'll make a great president."

I hope he does release the Kraken soon too... better to run with offense than to hope on your D.... It was a far better thing to have The One running for the tall grass, than to have him from a stronger position. Having a knee-pad media and band of useful idiots isn't helping our cause either.

First priority is to get the staff thinned of the doomsayers and nihilists - either in it to win it, or, go home.

Second, take the fight to him - pound the facts, his record, and his shortcomings. Keep hitting him hard, use the new media, and even what face-time the media will allow to get out the facts and record.

Last, the time is now, not October - actually, it was the beginning of September.

Yeah, but if you're not spending money on ads, then what are you spending on.
A ground game can be expensive, but it isn't that expensive.
Most of the people who work are volunteers. They cost you nothing. You just need to pay the person who runs the call center or victory center. Chances are good that the person running that center is already an employee of the state GOP.
So, where else do you spend that money?

82 Also consider the possibility that the shows your demographic watch aren't the ones that need to have ads placed. I was at work last night at the polling firm and the break-room TV had the local non-major network on watching syndicated reruns of some sitcom or another. At 7:30 pm in Cincinnati there were Romney ads running on this station. This station doesn't target a conservative demo.

These guys have got reams of data about how best to leverage their funds. Don't assume that they need to convince you or folks like you. You aren't voting for Obama. Romney's already got you. He needs to spend money on people he doesn't already have.

Incidentally, we were blowing the shit up out of Iowa phones for the last three days. A little bit of VA and some NV but mostly IA.

If this election is about turnout, it's important for your own side to know that you're out there, taking it to your opponent and not letting his ads go unanswered. I keep waiting and waiting.

91 for those wondering, I believe Mitt will be in Florida and Colorado through the weekend (no sure of anywhere else), then has a 3 day bus tour of Ohio next Monday - Wednesday.

Gosh, if they're not careful, it could turn into a war...

and here it is "unplugged". It's brilliant. Bad recording but my favorite unplugged show and I hate rap with a passion.

Weird.

94 Media to Romney, Stop Telling The Truth

The truth is racist, sexist, homophobic and bigoted

Posted by: TheQuietMan at September 20, 2012 10:51 AM (1Jaio)

95 Also remember that Mitt won several states in the primaries by having successfully gotten his voters out throughout the respective early voting periods. He had enough votes already banked to hold off the media-driven Santorum push, especially in Ohio.

I have already been contacted to vote early for Mitt from the ORP. There is no way in hell that the Portman machine that Romney leveraged in the primaries to roll up early votes won't be deployed to significant effect. Obviously enough, Obama's people will be trying to do the same thing.

I expect that targeted campaign appeals to select demographics are already going on. It doesn't take all that many black preachers in Cleveland and Toledo discussing Obama's gay marriage deal to alter inner-city turnout in Cuyahoga and Lucas counties in negative ways for Obama.

These are areas where funds are leveraged to great effect. Much more impactful than TV ads.

97 TPaw is Romney campaign co-chair and leaves with six weeks till election day to take a "sexy" lobbyist gig. I now know why I never liked the guy.

98 Ace (or somebody) really needs to use the banhammer. The lib trolls and concern trolls are starting to take the place over, worse than in 2010 (You remember 2010 don't you trolls, despite all your frantic efforts on this site you still lost badly).

99 I don't like the idea of stepping in Vic's link list but, I think I may have been overwhelming my FB friends since deciding to post links and this puts into one post almost everything they need to know.

101 What would happen if Romney or Ryan made a quick stop in Pittsburgh in the next 7 days.

The media's head would explode, like the movie Scanners, that's what.

102 Obama is a stuttering clusterf*ck of a miserable failure.
