President Kick-Ass: "This Seat's Taken"

Remember when Bush indulged in tough-guy bravado like "Don't mess with Texas"? And how that meant he had a cramped, thuggish intellect and could only think in simple lizard-brain impulses and higher-primate ritual aggression displays?

Well, every time President Kick-Ass does this sort of thing it's just awesome or something, according to the press. Gone are criticisms that it's "arrogant" or shows an unwarranted "swagger." Now it's just Our Hero laying down a masterful challenge to his critics.

So, President Kick-Ass tweeted this, with the text "This seat is taken."

narsissist-in-chief.gif

Nice Deb isn't so nice about it.

In the insular world of the hard left – this is thought of as a “deft”, “snarky”, “cheeky” response from an administration that has always been “adept” at social media.

To me, and I think a lot of Americans – it looks petty and narcissistic.

It is narcissistic. I also think it's a bit ridiculous -- it's braggadocio coming from, I'm sorry, a loser. When you've got a terrific record and everything you touch turns to gold, you can break out the dick-waving braggadocio.

When you're basically just hoping your employer will overlook your last three and two thirds' years' performance and let you stay on for a little bit longer... Well, it is, to put it charitably, admirably disconnected from the horror of the actual facts.

This sounds like Jason Biggs' trash-talking. Trash-talking is fine, but it sounds pretty silly out of the mouth of a shlub.

Now, after MSNBC insisted furiously that Clint Eastwood had bombed, they showed this picture, and they all force-laughed and force-laughed at how hilarious it was. So apparently "just a grin with a body behind it" wasn't funny, but this sort of idiotic 16-year-old trash-talk is the height of wit.

Director Blue offers some photoshops.

Uncle Jefe sends in this racist one:

image001.png

It's racist because it's a clear reference to Tiger Woods, who is partly black. Lawrence O'Donnell told me so.

I think this response by Adam Baldwin is pretty hysterical. It's so... I don't know. Silly and to the point.

24 I was on Twitter when that tweet went up. It was less than 1 full hour after the RNC ended, if I remember right. So less than 3 hours after Clint had done his speech.

The fact OFA felt it had to rush out this pic of Obama sitting in a chair tells us all we need to know about how effective Clint was.

Clint instantly created a powerful visual image of an absent leadership. 'Invisible Obama' 'Empty Chair Obama'.

Progs instantly seized on this even before most Conservative commenters did. Image is THEIR whole thing, and they instantly howled with outrage over what Clint was doing.

They are trying DESPERATELY to head off the launch of imagery & snark that's going to come at Obama inspired by what Clint did.

26 This is when near total control of the news and entertainment media hurts them. They make fun of us all the time; as such, we are used to it and for the most part it just rolls off our back. When the shoe's on the other foot they have no response other than trembling rage because they aren't used to being the butt of the joke. They don't know how to handle it.

When Paul Ryan poked fun at Romney's ipod music my second reaction (after LOL) was to think how Obama would never allow anyone to make a joke at his expense.

I think I remember, during the 2008 campaign, there was some event where both Obama and McCain gave comedy speeches, pretty much. McCain's was actually quite funny. Obama's fell flat, for the most part. He made one good quip about his middle name, but the rest of it was weak. He tried self-deprecation by joking about how humble he is, but it was lame and uncomfortable.

After all, these lefties always rave about things they consider "edgy", and Clint's performance was one of the edgiest I've ever seen.

Seriously, as a performer I thought he showed great courage, working on a high wire without a net. Watching the first minute or so felt precisely like that to me.

Putting the matter in the jejune mindset of the liberal, what Clint did was one of the coolest things ever to happen in American politics. This, I think, is what troubles the left so much; I believe it is causing real cognitive dissonance in a great many of them hereabouts.

I happen to think the mere fact that he replied at all is significant. The newness of social media aside, I can't imagine any other president stooping to such high school silliness. Think about it. A sitting president of the United States....the tippy top of power in the world responding to a routine done by a celebrity. Feeling the need to respond with a snarky, childish response. Gawd, what an embarrassment he is. A national freaking nightmare.

My office did a work day for them while I was on vacation, showed pictures at a meeting yesterday--they were building in an inner city neighborhood next to a house covered in graffiti. Felt like an odd choice for a home for a family with three small children, but I'm all racist like that.

Of COURSE that seat is taken. Enjoy it while you can. I know this is what Chicago politics is all about, but it doesn't sell so well in the rest of the country.

"This seat is taken". For the love of all that is good and Holy, is this really what this man has turned into ? He is entitled to it ?

This really should be a huge deal, because this is more embarrassing than the silly pictures with co-eds, and all the other ridiculous shit. This is just wrong.

A critical and integral part of the American governance is the fact that the presidency is always occupied. But you don't own it, you panty-waist waste of space. Your job, for the next few months you have it, is to be a citizen of this country and a leader of all. This mockery bullshit is getting old.

Ace- You had a live chat thingy going during the 2010 elections, and I asked you to help drive forward the idea- to turn the phrase- of "We won". Why can't Obama get his programs through Congress now ? Well, in 2010, WE WON.

That never took off, and I will never forgive you for it. When Obama says he can't get anything done because of those nasty Republicans... well... guess what, Jug-Ears... This time around, we won.

On 1/21/13 I really hope someone takes a picture of Romney sitting in this chair, in much the same way, and the simple message should be "This chair is still take, and now it's occupant is capable."

296 @261- "Remember, winners fuck the prom queen."

The sole exception being in 2008, when the winner fucked, uh- the horse the prom queen rode in on, I guess.

Or the prom king.

Whichever.

297 You know how people make cracks that POTUS so and so did something that wasn't 'classy', but it was usually in truth, nothing of the sort? Just some partisan sniping...

But THIS actually qualifies as literally the lamest, most unpresidential, juvenile and stupid thing that I think that I've ever seen someone in that office do. And even if it was just one of his stunted minions driving his hashtag, it still reflects directly on the boss.

Back when Clinton was POTUS, some of us wished that we could have a grown up back in the Oval Office. Little did we know that one actually could do worse than him. Bubba was a womanizer but he didn't tweet/advertise his stupidity.

Behold, the Leader of the Free World, acting like a stunted throwback from middle school. And doesn't have the depth of character to be embarrassed about it.

300 The chair's taken by 'The Invisible Man' who was a foreign exchange student at Columbia U. His followers should read H.G.Wells book of the same title to learn of the outcome.

301 by the way -

The plaque on the back of Obama's chair is an Obama-special.

"" Jan. 29, 2010: “A view of the President’s chair in the Cabinet Room. The plaques on the chairs of the President and the Vice President are noted with the date of the inauguration; the plaques on the chairs of each Cabinet member are noted with the date of their confirmation by the Senate.” (Official White House Photo by Pete Souza) """

304 "Where's the bounce? The best that Romney/Ryan could muster was a one point lead, lol?"

toldyaso the great guru of liberal minds, like Biden

----------------------------------------------------------

Yes Toldyaso, no big bounce one day after the convention. I too am shocked that Romney does not have a 20 to 30 point lead by now. Given that Obama is such miserable failure of Pres. - every thing that he touches turns to crap, and Romney is a very intelligent man with the perfect skill set to solve our problems; what the hell is wrong with America??? How many morons like you are there? I believe America would be hurt, but could survive four more years of Obama. I do not believe America could survive the fact that the majority of our population is now stupid enough to give BO for more years.

Gloat about your man child holding his own in the polls - but it scares the hell out of me how close we are coming to the end of the Republic. Obama wins, game over - your just waaaaay too stupid to see it, and that is the problem.

What Clint Eastwood did was deliver the "Daisy

And they won't understand why.

309 Regarding Mr Romney's light bulb fix I'd point out that it only takes one Obama president to screw in a light bulb. I just hold the bulb in the fixture and the world revolving around me screws it in.

310 This seat is taken to be cleaned after four years because ick.

Think how many times Obama has shit himself while sitting there.

Posted by: epobirs at September 01, 2012 02:19 AM (kcfmt)

311 That seat is taken by whom the voters say it is.

Obama doesn't get to make that decision.

312 It's a bad sign that the left has lost their sense of humor. How hard are people laughing at their edgy (ahem) comedians Stewart and Maher? Nobody likes feeling that they have to behave a certain way and laugh only when the APPLAUSE light flashes and the laugh track is cued. When they look like killjoys and pills, the left is losing the culture war again.

I liked John Hayward's take on it:

"The intended recipient was not Mitt Romney, the convention delegates, or even Republican voters, but rather wavering independents. Clint was there to tell them it’s OK to find Obama, his ugly campaign operation, and his increasingly shrill band of die-hard defenders ridiculous. It’s OK to laugh at them."

That's what had the Obama camp in a tizzy. Republicans don't look fringe or out of touch when a Hollywood legend is killing at the RNC. This pushback against a brilliant performance was as pathetic as MSNBC skipping the minority speakers. It defeats the left's narrative.

316 Thing is, they all missed the most important thing. Most of us missed the symbolism of the moment. It is not king putt's seat, nor is it any more Mitt's seat, it is a seat that belongs to we the people. Does any one get it?

The seat has belonged to the highest bidder for too long, because of this truth, we, us, you and I, have been sold as so much chattel for so long, the principles our founders created of the rule of law, has been usurped by the rule of men.

It is well that we must remember it is we of the people, we the people who are by any definition of the supreme power in this land, it we who are the soveriegn. The only true power lies within the people.

When we as a people begin to understand this, it will be the turning point away from tyranny, no matter it's form, and towards liberty, and the rule of law.
