"Anarchist Milita" In Army Plotted to Overthrow Government, Capture Bases, Assassinate President; Also Murdered Another Soldier and His 17-Year-Old Girlfriend to "Cover Their Tracks"

Death penalty? Yes please.

One guy has been permitted to plead to manslaughter in exchange for information about the other terrorists. The rest, though, could hang.

One of the plotters described himself as "the nicest cold-blooded murderer you will ever meet."

Incidentally, it's murder all the way down with these guys:

Pauley said Aguigui funded the militia using $500,000 in insurance and benefit payments from the death of his pregnant wife a year ago. Aguigui was not charged in his wife's death, but Pauley told the judge her death was "highly suspicious."

Lately it keeps occurring to me that for some, "politics" is just a way to dress up a deep-down sociopathy in "heroic" terms. You see a lot of this on both sides; loathsome people use the pretext of "politics," right or left, to justify cruelty and murder and terrorism.

"Anarchist"? It's an old trick of the media to call Neo-Nazis "right-wing" but then simply call left-wingers what they identify themselves as. "Anarchists," for example.

Now, I initially thought these guys had to be right-wing (or what the media terms "right-wing") because I could not imagine a left-wing motive here.

But a commenter points out the left wing is extremely angry about poor Bradley Manning, America's Pluckiest Little Traitor.

So I guess that is an open possibility, and would explain the media not immediately calling these guys "rightwing."

I do find that very suspicious. I find it suspicious that this isn't the biggest story in the media. If it's not, there must be a reason the media is in "let's be restrained here" mode.

Not sure, obviously. But I am wondering about that.

A wave of new American-style restaurants is spreading across the Iraqi capital, enticing customers hungry for alternatives to traditional offerings like lamb kebabs and fire-roasted carp.

Iraqi entrepreneurs and investors from nearby countries, not big multinational chains, are driving the food craze. They see Iraq as an untapped market of increasingly adventurous eaters where competition is low and the potential returns are high.

"We're fed up with traditional food," said government employee Osama al-Ani as he munched on pizza at one of the packed new restaurants last week. "We want to try something different."

It's only natural that their zeal would wane as the government moved ever leftward and closer to their ideal. It may very well be that organized anti-government plots are more likely to come from the far right. If you're opposed to big government, the last half-century has not given you hope for a democratic solution.

For most of the 20th century, most organized anti-government plots came from the left. It's only natural that their zeal would wane as the government moved ever leftward and closer to their ideal.

It only took 20 years for Bill Ayers to go from the guy planting bombs in the US Capitolto the guy having coffee with the future president. No sense of desperation there.

124 The grandiosity of their plan to 'take' Ft. Stewart and conduct bombing campaigns, etc ad nauseum, reminds me of Bob Matthews' and David Lane's'Bruder Schweigen' neo-nazi terrorist group in the 80's. Matthews and his fellow Aryan supermen had big plans, too. On the way to realizing those big plans, theymanaged to kill Alan Berg, a radio talk show host, rob a few banks and armored cars, counterfeit money, and rat each other out at the first opportunity once the feds had them. Matthews burned to death in a shootout with the FBI when one of the tear gas canisters caught the house on fire. So much for taking over the country. Delusional, murderous bastards, the lot of them, now all dead or certain to die in prison.

Same thing here. Thosemen betrayed their oath, plotted treason, and committed murder. Hang them. Hang them all.

Almost everyone who *calls* themselves are just communists who don't play well with others, or assholes who found an excuse for being assholes.

Seriously, someone who believes government is unnecessary because people can learn to be completely responsible for themselves running around in masks destroying property and killing people?

If your "strain of Anarchy" includes forcing your views on others, you're not an anarchist, you're a totalitarian.

Every single black-block rock-thrower fundamentally mislabels their philosophy.

Posted by: imp at August 27, 2012 06:11 PM (UaxA0)

I was elaborating on the difference between a label and a definition.

"True communism" is about stagnation as that is an innate feature of the theoretical system. There is little daylight between the definition of communism and what commies pursue. They admit that they are all about stagnation (zero population growth, zero productivity growth and such being their actual pursuits) and the dictatoship inevitably follows (as commies also admit that they need elites to administer their system). Even the useful idiots of "true communism" admit these features and publicly pursue them.

And just because someone assigns a label to something doesn't make that labeling legitimate or change the definition of the word they abused as a label.

The great bulk of Paulbots are leftists who just want to smoke pot or think that the US military is the most evil organization on Earth. They were bigger supporters of the Occupoopers than the Tea Party, though Paulbots are up for pretty much anything that causes problems. I feel bad for real Constitutional libertarians who get caught up with those idiots, but that's the nature of politics.

While true anarchy (zero government) is on the far, far right in the American political spectrum, it's really not connected to American conservativism, at all, since American conservativism revolves about Constitutionality (with varying disagreements of interpretation) but has nothing to do with junking the Constitution as anarchists want. This is why American conservativism doesn't exist anywhere outside of America and why it is, itself, uniquely limited.

187 pretty much-there are situations I can see using a gun to reassert stability, but any regime that relies on force as baseline negotiating tool with its people is inherently and evil and my beliefs require me to feel ultimately doomed.

But you're not "getting your point across," you're keeping people alive by killing or threatening to kill other people.

You're not trying to convince people that the Laffer Curve is valid using a gun.

A gun is a great tool, but it's not a tool for everything.

192 The AP article on this said that the Army had dropped its charges which were filed in March. So the State of GA is trying them on simple murder charges.

Question is if all this plotting was going on, why are they not being charged with either "terrorism with deaths" or treason? Both of those carry the death penalty.

As for simple murder, a lot of States invoke "special circumstances" for multiple murder and invoke the death penalty. The AP article does not say if they are seeking the death penalty. Probably not.

A gun as you say is a tool, and it is not always the right tool BUT if a person destabilizes the nation with guns then guns will reassert the opposition system with victory. People after a massive die off are going to go semi-feral. Setting up a working economy ruthlessly defended with force will "teach" people about order again.

Posted by: Adam Smith's Invisible Pimp Hand at August 27, 2012 06:43 PM (NzBQO)

I wouldn't say that it's a loop. Total indivudalism is very different from total collectivism. But, in America that spectrum is even less relevant as American conservativism, while standing on the right in the collectivist/individualist spectrum, is quite divorced from the rest of the spectrum, since it is based on the actual Constitution and only deviates from the architecture laid out in that document by restricted measures of interpretation. That is unique in that our Constitutional framework separates and restricts governmental power as its very foundation.

This is also why no measures of right/left anywhere else in the world are relevant to America.

Posted by: ThePrimordialOrderedPair at August 27, 2012 06:53 PM (X3lox)

216 @191 - Yes, it is a big mash-up.

Social liberals want tons of Government involvement in allowing people to do some things (free healthcare for everyone!) but a lot of Nanny-state control as well (no cars, no salt, no meat).

Social conservatives want tons of Government involvement in allowing people to do some things (prayer in school), but a lot of Nanny-state control as well (definition of marriage, censorship).

They both want largely the same thing - Big Government, but they quibble over the details, and wind up at odds with one another.

From the stance of Currently Where America Is, you've gotten a lot of both's influence mingled into the current set of laws. As groups come into play that try to untie some of the knots and withdraw the unsustainable / unconstitutional stuff, OR add a bunch to the mix, others will glom onto the movement, because they like the direction it takes, though not necessarily the specifics of the platform. Hence, the loose association of Tea Party with Luap Nor. The first bullet point for both is "Less Government Than We Have Now," but the sub-bullets, which explain the extent and details, are where they diverge. Tea Party got some serious momentum, so the Paulians saw an opportunity to get on the coattails.

I think similar things happen with the liberal side. You get a bunch of people who ardently hate Christianity, so when they see the liberal movement work against obviously-Christian tenets of society, they glom on as friends with a common enemy. But the details of the different groups fray once they start getting too close and really begin to compare notes.

You need two dimensions to plot it out, instead of just one.

I really think that back in his days on FNC, Beck did this with his chalkboards and a huge stack of magnetic plaques.

No, no I understand what you're saying I think. I am just saying that there are dire circumstances where you can get ideas across with guns/resource denial. I am NOT a militia nut and I find political violence to be abominable.

The thing is I am starting to, in my darker moments, see that the left has pretty much undermined all the necessary components of any type of equanimity in political equilibrium. The behavior against Reagan was remarked at the time as being particularly bad almost as bad as their Nixon hate, but it all pales in comparison to the rank hypocrisy and bias we see now. The education/media/environmental chokehold on the narrative means you have to exert so much political capital to get any competing point across is so uneven a playing field I fear it will undermine trust in the public square aspects of the political process.

First of all, what I'm saying is that's not a proper use of force not only because it's immoral but because it doesn't work. History is filled with examples of that.

Secondly, are the Swiss nuts? Our forefathers in the US? Because militias are how they organized their fighting forces.

Just because Ayers was a terrorist doesn't mean all college professors like political violence - though I suspect the ratio is as high as or higher than for militias.

You keep making these blanket statements and then regretting it. You may need more modifiers in your writing.

Maybe I do need more adjectives, adverbs, and interjections.

There is also ample evidence that the portion of the Democrat electorate who finds political violence odious simply MUST be lower than in the Vietnam era. The Democrat party of even 20 years ago would never have tolerated a 1/3d term Senator with ties to Bill Ayers to win the highest office in the land. The loss of their "do anything" power they held for 52 years has driven them crazy or at a minimum to tolerating crazy in their ranks.

If there were a cancellation of the elections as Gov. Perdue floated rhetorically I suspect the democrat main body would have no issue with it.

That is the goal and it's not an accident. Get decent people more apathetic because they don't want to be involved, reduce the reasoned discussion because it doesn't benefit them, create systemic cynicism they can prey on, damage the system so they can "fix" it by taking more power and control.

It's all they ever wanted.
