Seismic: Defying Previous Trends, Theater Majors Support Obama

"One More Term," just an awful parody of Les Miserables, with lots of anti-conservative lyrics like "feminazi rage."

Oh, it's so bad. When I tell you it's bad, keep in mind I'm the guy who saw the Nick Cage remake of The Wicker Man and strongly recommended it, and not ironically. I thought it was good.

So... when I say something is bad, it's bad.

Favorite part...? I want to say it's hard to say but of course it's not. If pressed for time, go to 4:00 and hear them hyperventilate about the Gay Haircut, or "Hunt the Queer," as they call it.

9 Yeah, its bad. Its so bad, and so earnest and pathetic. They have a disclaimer as Stoaty Weasel notes, but the disclaimer is to protect them from Les Mis lawsuits, not to say "we were just being goofy, this is a parody of Obama support." They really mean it and probably think this is clever.

The words are awful and stupid and devoid of self awareness.

From the creator's Open Letter:

While this effort was inspired by Rosa Parks, whatever aversion to social injustice, notions of good vs. evil or simple idealism I may have acquired along the way were informed by my Father who while heading advertising at American Safety Razor mentored me in musical parody – and living well; by my Mother who while running a Congressional District office for 16 years taught me Capitol Hill calculus and political logic; and by the creative integrity and heroic, visionary story-telling of three astonishingly gifted men, none of whom I've ever worked with, only one of whom I've ever met:
Frank Capra, Cameron Mackintosh and Aaron Sorkin.

Now if we're talking Nic Cage awful movies, then we must talk Drive Angry. It's fantastic because it's exactly what you think it is. Not to mention that Bill MF'ing Fichtner is clearly having a blast making it. Also Amber Heard.

It's a great song, by the way. If these guys didn't already have a career, they really could do Broadway for a living, and make gazillions of dollars.

One of my favorite things about South Park The Movie is that it is a Disney movie in every possible way. The structure of it, the placement of the songs, the type of songs, the whole thing. It's the Disney animated musical movie formula to a tee. Just. You know. With way more profanity. And Saddam Hussein fucking Satan. Other than that? Totally a Disney movie.

Yeah. Take away, teams, scoring, and pretty much every other rule, that's what Rugby becomes. I used to play it back a long long time ago. For those not familiar, the rules are simple.

Play starts with one player holding the ball. All other players attempt to tackle him/her. Once tackled the ball carrier throws the ball up. Whomever catches it is the new ball carrier. Repeat until the recess bell rings. Whomever has the ball at the end "wins".

213 Oh gawd, I WISH I was at home right now so I could listen to this. I really, really do. I assume it's to the tune of "One Day More?"

"Les Mis" itself annoys me storywise in the first place (am I alone in wanting to beat Cosette to a bloody pulp for being a spoiled brat when she grows up?), so any regressive attempt to make it even MORE annoying is guaranteed to generate laughs. I'm just surprised they didn't go with "Red and Black."

Yeah. Like me. My brother is actually part of 3 gaming groups, but he never really grew up. Bachelor nearing 40, works for the city and has since before he graduated college, still goes to cons regularly, the whole thing. The mutual friend and I get to play (if something else doesn't interfere) every other week.

And the big problem isn't finding players, it's finding players who's schedules fit. I have lots of friends who still game, it's just that our specific schedules aren't compatible, or they live in the North end of the Metroplex (I live as far South as you can and still call it DFW without laughing).

230 I thought that video was kind of funny. It was certainly a parody of music, and a parody of political thinking, so I'm going to have to say it was aptly sub-titled.

True ... I couldn't make it through the whole thing but that was only because they all suck shit and the lyricist was a functional retard, evidently ... but it could have been hysterical.

I liked the side by side of the Dog-Eater and Rosa Parks. I wonder why they didn't have pics from when those oppressed little thugs carried out a home invasion on poor Rosa and beat the living shit out of her. Restecp!

I didn't recognize any of the people in that parody video, which I think speaks well to my humanity and intelligence. I do hope they are shunned like ebola-carriers among anyone with a brain who does know them. These people are the ebola of civilization. They know it. That's why they hate themselves. They know that's why their parents hate them, too.

231 If you read the "Author's Note" on the Open Letter page of the web site where the video is located, you can see that they dedicate the video in part to "those self-sacrificing servants to the poor, the Thénardiers". In the story of Les Miserables, the Thenardiers were anything but self-sacrificing. They were greedy, corrupt, abusive innkeepers. Master Thenardier and his youngest daughter are basically bribed by Jean Valjean at the end of the novel to leave France, so they travel to America and become slave traders.

Whoever put together the video obviously didn't do their research...But what can we expect from lefty drivel like this.
