Democrats to Debate Monitors: We Demand You Avoid Any Questions About Bowles-Simpson or Deficit Reduction
In the original letter, Sens. Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Joe Lieberman, (I-Conn.) and Mark Pryor (D-Ark.) asked the debate commission to devote “specific and extensive attention to the question of how the candidates would get our nation’s fiscal house in order during the first debate dedicated to domestic policy.” “Specifically, we request that you ask the presidential candidates which of the recommendations of the National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform they would adopt as part of their plan to reduce the deficit,” they wrote. But that caused Reps. Mike Honda (D-Calif.), Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) and Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.) to cry foul, writing in their own letter to the debate commission on Tuesday that although the Simpson-Bowles commission’s plan “may contain proposals helpful to our recovery…to hold it out as the only pathway to fiscal responsibility and economic success is foolish and wrong.” “We urge the [Debate] Commission to fight any effort to unnecessarily narrow such an important debate by placing disproportionate attention on one set of proposals over another,” they wrote, adding that such a question would “cheapen the debate” and “thwart the candidates’ ability to explain alternative proposals.”I have a feeling they wouldn't support questions about the stimulus or unemployment or Solyndra or Israel, either. I agree, and it wouldn't hurt Romney at all to do that. He could give a weak gesture toward the original question and just hammer a talking point or rebut something Obama said every time.
Sure the pundits would say "he never answered the questions" but when does a politician ever, anyway?
Even better would be for Romney to say "nah, we're not doing a debate with that line up of moderators. Get some new ones, or just have us do a Lincoln-Douglas style debate."

Our country’s economic outlook remains at the forefront of voters’ minds, and it is critical that each candidate discuss what his plans to continue our economic recovery are if elected president. However, it also is critical that this complex and multifaceted issue not be unnecessarily narrowed by focusing merely on one possible plan to the exclusion of other viable solutions. Despite the urge to oversimplify our economic problems, and the misguided hope of some that the road to success runs magically through one plan, the candidates must be challenged to suggest solutions based on their values and vision for the future, not simply to choose a few ideas from one plan while ignoring other possibilities.

But they are always a joke in that the moderators and questions are horribly biased. Like it or not, they have become a permanent, and more importantly, expected fixture in these elections. People who are persuadable and necessary expect them to occur and can be swayed by them.
Better to accept the moderator bias going in, and make the best of it, a la Newt. Reject false premises, expose the unfairness of the question, and then ignore the question and talk about what you want to talk about.

Congressman Paul Ryan is the poster boy for the extreme Republican leadership in a Congress whose overall approval rating is 12 percent. His plan to dismantle Medicare is deeply unpopular with the general public, and especially undecided voters.
You might be wondering why the hell Romney picked this guy. But this is a strategic pick that carries real danger for us.
Here's the calculation: Mitt Romney doesn't need or expect Paul Ryan to convince even one undecided voter to cast their ballot for him. That's not what he's on the ticket for. He's there to reassure and inspire ultraconservative ideologues and corporate interests that they will have one of their own a heartbeat from the presidency.
That means tens or even hundreds of millions more dollars for the Romney campaign and the array of outside groups supporting him -- and if current trends hold, more than 90 percent of that money will be spent on TV ads -- lying, distorting and trashing Barack Obama. Those ads will have more impact on undecided voters than anything Paul Ryan himself does or says.
Mitt Romney is convinced that picking Paul Ryan is a great investment for him. And his campaign is already touting the pledges and donations they've received as a result, with fundraising events planned for this week.

Judge Edward Burmila is again considering a possible mistrial after another blunder from prosecutors in the former police officer's trial. Peterson is accused in the 2004 death of his third wife, Kathleen Savio. He was charged after his fourth wife, Stacy Peterson, disappeared in 2007.
The judge on Tuesday afternoon berated a prosecutor after she raised an order of protection, a subject the judge previously barred. The prosecutor apologized to the judge, saying it was her fault.

Went down to the local GOP HQ today, deciding that the time had come for me to volunteer. This isn't small stuff for me. I have a lot of social anxiety. Making that leap to "I'm going to be a part of this" is a big deal for me, and also is in general.
The local county clowns don't even have internet in their office. Called the state office after helping out a bit, asked what I could do, and explained what had happened at the local county office. The lady was nice, she laughed with me a bit, then told me she wasn't surprised.

Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan’s favorables are up after the first blush of national media exposure following Mitt Romney’s selection of him as his vice presidential running mate. But as is generally the case with running mates, Ryan gives only a slight boost to Romney.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 50% of Likely U.S. Voters now have a favorable opinion of Ryan, while 32% view him unfavorably. This includes 29% with a Very Favorable view of Romney’s vice presidential pick and 13% with a Very Unfavorable one. Only 13% are now unfamiliar with Ryan, and five percent (5%) are not sure about him.
Just prior to being picked as Romney’s running mate, only 39% viewed Ryan favorably, while 25% held an unfavorable opinion of him.

A whistleblower former employee of the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISACorps) has revealed that she was coerced to attend Jesse Jackson’s Rainbow PUSH partisan forum with Nancy Pelosi, pose for photo ops, given instructions on loading students up with student debt, and then reimbursed travel and hotel expenses with federal funds.
As reported in the Daily Caller this morning, the whistleblower signed an affadavit attesting to these claims, which appear to reveal ISACorps as either illegally or unethically coercing 76 state employees essentially to stump for Democratic Party candidates.
Nancy Pelosi was the headline speaker at the event the 76 ISACorps employees attended, where she endorsed Jesse Jackson Jr. for Congress and praised the elder Jackson’s handle on the U.S. Constitution, as originally reported by Rebel Pundit (VIDEO) in March 2012.
After the meeting, according to the affadavit, the ISACorps employees were escorted to a back room:
“Jesse Jackson Sr. said to work hard to help as many students as possible acquire student loans. Jackson Sr. encouraged us to network students, hold rallies and organize for ‘student loan forgiveness legislation,’” she wrote in her affidavit….
“Jesse Jackson Sr. also told us not to worry about loading students up with too much college debt, because Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats will eventually forgive all student loan debt. On the promise of debt forgiveness, ‘those people will continue to vote Democratic.’”
Bailey added that Jackson Sr. “asked how many ISACorps workers would be able to come to future events because our massive support looked great both in-person and on television.”

Both actually. Both the Papacy has at times outright forbidden membership under penalty of cannon law, or as today, treats it as a sin, placing one ineligible to receive communion so long as membership is maintained.
The Masons have at different times stood against the Church. Most recently the Scottish Rite's opposition to the autonomy of parochial schools.
So no, no love lost there. Strictly speaking, belief in both institutions is incompatible.
As far as Royalty while US lodges of the Masons have been against royalty; The British lodges have been for it.

They usually have a nice hall that they rent out for baptisms and birthdays and such. They compete with the local fire dept for business in the rental of the hall and are usually at a disadvantage cause they don't have taxpayer funds to constantly renovate their space but they do alright.
And they do great things for the parish and the diocese.

It's a policy thing, and as I understand it, that pendulum spends no time at all in the Goldilocks zone. A dude at the gym (NoVa) was DC Metro police and a Navy reservist master at arms. Drank with an old TX sheriff and he said they were more afraid of knives on a traffic stop. They had a test for the new guys. To see if they would get knifed. all did.
First, you can not see the knife till it is too late, second the guy can pull one faster that you can get your pistol out of the hostler. He said the closest he came to getting killed. He was behind a car taking a tag number, guy gets out of the car and pulls a knife, before he could get his pistol out the guy cut him.

Fox's "elephant's vibrator" ads to assail GWB's ESC funding ban, the resident marxist/liberation theology priest decided to praise Fox in his homily for Fox's courage in facing his Parkinson's.
The pastor gave me the "you can't be more catholic than the Pope" line when I asked him why he put up with that kind of shit.
I switched to secular mode.

The Chruch has heartburn with the Masons because their doctrine expresses their members are given some special insight into God, mankind's relationship with him, and a higher vision of morality from that...AND that special insight is a secret, only available to Masons, selected and approved. 1. The way of God is NOT hidden, and is available to all.
2. To the extent that God needed an institution on Earth to represent him, that institution is the Catholic Church.
3. All members of the Church are brothers and sisters in Christ. There are no "outsiders" to the way of God within that Holy Communion. We are all called to Christ's table.
