Shocking! Democratic Activist And Obama Super PAC Are Lying Scum

We blogged yesterday, a couple of times as a matter of fact, about the former steel worker at a Bain owned company who blamed Mitt Romney for his wife's death long after the company closed.

How outrageous was this ad? Even CNN vetted the lying bastard in the spot and found him to be full of crap.

Screw these bastards.

6 Gibbs on MSNBC this morning said that ad was made by an independent group that the Obama campaign does not control. So there.

Of course, the ad was made by Priorities USA, which is run by Bill Burton, former national press secretary for the Obama 2008 campaign, and the deputy press secretary to Gibbs in the White House.

Second, Soptic needs to have his ass kicked for using his dead wife in an ad so fucking horrible, it has no merit whatsoever.

What exactly is the point of the ad? There is nothing about any policies of Romney or the GOP, or a position they hold. It's just a stab at making Romney appear to be heartless and failing spectacularly.

Hells to the yes. I had what you might call an epiphany this summer. It came after the Obamacare decision. It was when that fucking clown Carney got up behind his little podium and declared, on behalf of the Administration, that Obamacare was not a tax... after having SUCCESSFULLY ARGUED that it WAS a tax.

Truth means nothing to these assholes. There is no truth. There is only what advances their cause, and what does not.

The Democrats are no longer a political party. They are simply a conspiracy to seize and retain power, eager to use the coercive power of government to patronize and divide Americans into competing tribes of interests whose only common features are that they must approach the Democrats in power on bended knee and beg for favor. They disgust me on a visceral level.

37 Some (very few) Obama lies are so blatant that even CNN can't propagate them with a straight face. But they'll be shilling for their Democrat masters again, seamlessly as always.

Sad state of affairs - but I think we'll still as a Romney victory of epic proportions (after all, who would vote for anOther four years of this type of epic failure and damage when there is a perfectly good reasonable decent skilled accomplished alternative who will turn things around immediately). All we've seen these last few months is Oblamer bouncing against his ceiling of 46% and Romney not being dragged below a floor of 46%, with Oblamer's attempts to define Romney negatively largely ineffective.

It is, however, torture sitting here while Romney's hands are tied financially pending the actual nomination so he cannot respond in kind and focus the public on Oblamer's epic incompetence and corruption, his inability to learn from mistakes / abandon failed rigid far left ideology for pragmatism, that guarantee another 4 years of misery should the SCOAMF be reelected, and, most importantly, allow Romney to set out his plans for real economic recovery instead of more endless Oblamer depression...

Which fool wrote the law tying presidential challengers' ability to spend money to the actual nomination? It's so stupid it actually has McCain's grubby fingerprints on it..

communists believed in "treachery, deceit, destruction,

ABC/Wash Post poll- let me guess, Dems are at a say, +7 or maybe +8. Quinnipiac has D +4 or +5, PPP who the hayl knows but they've got dems at more than +1, the only plausible number that would have dems outnumbering reps.

Also, doubt that any of them are using Likely voters.

Public polls follow the agenda of the people who are putting the poll out. They are designed and manipulated to give the general public a distorted view of what is happening, to raise hopes, increase fundraising, etc.

Internal polls in the campaigns are designed to give the candidates a realistic snapshot of where they are. It helps them craft their message and decide where to spend money. If things are going well, the candidate stays on message. If things are going terribly wrong, the campaign tries more and more desperate methods to make a shift occur.

In looking at the two campaigns, who is tossing out as much shit as possible hoping something will stick?

If it was something caused by her own negligence/irresponsibility then is it really the fault of closing the plant or her own?

Here is the downside to being a whore, even a media whore.....at some point you wake up and realize your tired of it. Having pissed away your dignity, self-worth and good name, you would just like it back.

I have no hope for MSNBC absent a completely new entity getting involved and cleaning house. And I really have no hope for CNN, at some point you just transitiion (ungracefully I would add) from young whore to old, grizzled washed-up whore but you keep whoring because it is all you know. 116 I'm actually pretty optimistic about our ability to crush these kinds of smears in today's alt-media world. It took less than 60 minutes from the time Burton's group released the ad for it to be countered and shot down in most of its particulars, less than 4 hours for it to be condemned by mainstream commentators, and less than 8 hours for CNN (CN-freaking-N!) to be ripping it apart in prime time.

That is a remarkable runaround from 2008 in terms of response time and counter-punch force from our side.

As to today's release of several media polls. The take-away is two-fold. The swing states are tight and fluctuate depending on pollster and methodology and day-to-day news. Nothing that we didn't already know.

Second, the fact that things are this tight in key swing states after 90+ days of Obama ad blitzes in those same states with little Romney reply (for reasons we all know) is very encouraging.

Obama has gone for the massive early kill before Romney can use Gen Elect funds in two weeks and Romney is not only not dead, he's just barely bleeding. And Obama has already started going into the "Romney is a murderer" playbook in mid-summer.

Watch what they do. That is the clue to what is really going on. Romney is still clear and steady and on message. Obama tries a new tactic every other day to disrupt that Romney steadiness. Don't succumb. It's what they want you to do.

This isn't the first time he has blamed Romney for the loss of his job in a political add. He apparently made on in May. Even if he didn't know the exact point of the add, he was willing to use his dead wife to score political points- which is despicable.

It's even worse than than the Adds in the 2000 (I think) election about George Bush not enacting Hate Crimes legislation in Texas (the dragging death of that guy) and his daughter saying "When George Bush didn't sign the hate crimes bill, it was like my father dying all over again," despite the fact that two of the murderers had already received death sentences, and the other was sentenced to 99 years in prison. What, did she want us to resurrect them and re-execute them?

This is worse than that because, unlike that girl, Joe Soptic actually bears far more of the blame (if there is any blame here: she died of cancer, so there may not be) than Mitt Romney. It was Joe Soptic and his Union buddies who refused to renegotiate contracts so the steel mill could become profitable. It was Joe Soptic who (apparently) sat on his duff for 5 years and never got a job better than Janitor. All Mitt Romney did was direct Bain Capital to purchase the (already failing) steel mill and try to save it in spite of itself.

Breathe, soothsayer. Breathe.

I don't see this as "defending" our side. Defense would be saying, "Bain's job was to streamline the company, which meant there had to be layoffs. It's a shame, but it had to be done." Defense would accept the Dem premise that this poor woman's death was a direct result of Bain's involvement with Soptic losing his job.

What's happening is quite the opposite. Instead of raising the hackles in defense, our side is coming back with, "The guy couldn't find another job in such a booming economy as we had before the 2008 meltdown? And Romney wasn't even there when Soptic lost his job. And his wife didn't die until years after he lost his job. And hey, isn't it kind of skeezy to be using your dearly departed wife for cheap political gain? And gosh, does this mean that the millions of out of work Americans who have lost their jobs because of Obama's policies, and who may have had loved ones who died of cancer in that time, can band together and start making some ads about how Obama killed THEIR wives/husbands/parents/children? How about Delphi? Shall we get those 20,000 non-union workers who had their pensions looted by Obama and his union cronies together in an ad to talk about how the Preezy fucked them big time?"

Posted by: MWR, Proud Tea(rrorist) Party Hobbit at August 08, 2012 09:54 AM (4df7R)

158 @121 Watch what they DO, not what they say. What Obama DID about the Romney ad was go back to Bill Clinton to try to counter the ad. What Obama DID about the "you didn't build that" was to make personal, talking to the camera ads for the first time in the campaign.

Romney blew right through the Burton group's ad yesterday when asked directly about it. Totally dismissive and called it what it was, a distraction. IOW, what Romney DID was not rise to the rather disgusting and despicable bait. He stayed on message. All while everybody else, including CNN, did the actual responding for him.

Whereas, Obama had to call on Bill Clinton to respond on his behalf. Again. This is the second or third time in 4 weeks where the president has had to personally address a Romney ad or have former president Clinton do it for him.

Who is inside who's OODA loop?

Daily media poll fluctuation/narrative-building is what it always is. Watch what the candidates DO. That tells you what the numbers they are looking at tell them the real state of the race is.

It's the end of times. From the NY Slimes:

In the ad, Mr. Soptic says his wife became ill
“a short time after” his family lost insurance. But Mr. Soptic lost his
job at GST in 2001, and his wife died in 2006. She was taken to a
hospital where doctors found signs of “very advanced cancer” and died
two weeks later, according to The Kansas City Star.
At the time, Mr. Soptic was employed as a custodian for $24,000 a year —
about one-third of his former salary — but his health plan did not
cover his wife, according to an article in January by Reuters. That
article reported that when his wife began to lose weight, Mr. Soptic
said he “tried to get her to the doctor, and she wouldn’t go.”

She didn't go to the doctor because of Mitt Romney!!!!!!

They really believe this shit. They've been told conservatives are heartless and cruel so often that they believe it. Facts, evidence, logic don't matter. All they care about is how they FEEEEEL.

Everyone's heard Orwell's famous quote about "a boot stamping on a human face, forever" -- but most haven't heard the paragraph leading up to that line. He's not talking about Fascism or Communism as such; he's talking about the eternal appeal of being part of a mass movement -- any mass movement -- and hating and destroying others because they're the enemy. (Eric Hoffer pointed out that ex-Fascists became very ardent Communists, and vice versa.)

We've got to find a way to turn idiot liberals into idiot patriots. They obviously need to feel like part of a movement, so we just need to create a movement they'll support which points in the right direction.

Posted by: toby928© at August 08, 2012 09:30 AM (evdj2)

That was me. First Levin cited Red State, then about 10 minutes later, CNN came in to the pix. As best I understand, Joe lost his job. His wife worked at what sounds like a dollar store. She had insurance through them. After he lost his job, she quit hers (no mention of the time frame), claiming a disability. As pointed out @78, that's how she would've had insurance even though she quit. The missus died five years after Joe lost his job.

And yeah, no wonder Joe Septic never mentioned his wife's death in the earlier ad. I think someone figured it out later when they were having a creative moment. I don't know why Joe lost his job, he gave an Oscar worthy performance in that ad.

I can hear the director of that ad now: "Joe, we need you to think of something from your past that made you feel really
Powerless, sad and seething mad. Can you think of something?"

Joe: "Yes, I can. When I was in high school, this bully tied my dog on the roof of his car, and then he and his friends

125"They can't even get party bigwigs to attend the convention. How are they going to get marginal (D)s to go vote?"

Party bigwigs have access to internal polls. They know what is really happening.

According to Nate Silver, there is far less public polling on this presidential election cycle than there was for Obama/McCain or Bush/Kerry. However, never in the history of elections has so much been spent for internal polls - primarily by democrats.

When the internals show a candidate doing well, those who are downticket try to wrap themselves in aura of winning. In 2008, anyone who could get close to Obama did so, everyone wanted him to speak in their district or state and they all wanted to be photographed next to him on the podium. Now, most of the downticket dems deny knowing who the president is.

Public pollsters know people have short memories and the only polls that are tracked for accuracy are the last polls before the election. They will continue to do implausable weighting to keep the impression that Obama has a chance, until it becomes too hard to hide.

Are they trying to elicit an attack on this 'poor widower' by the right?

He deserves it. He does. I don't want to hear about how it's edited to make him look bad. If I discovered that a PAC was using statements I made to claim that my political opponent *gave my wife cancer* I would be screaming at the top of my lungs about how I didn't say that. Why? Because it's insane. It's utterly insane.

Unless there was someone with a gun off camera making him say those things, then he voluntarily appeared in the ad and voluntarily made those statements and has not repudiated them. I'm sick (and tired) of not holding people responsible for their actions. He is the one who is using and allowing his dead wife to be used to claim that Romney gave her cancer. That's vile. That's sick. That's demented. If the new civility is ever to occur, it will require that such statements as these are slapped down for the utter bullshit that they are.

188 @175 Exactly. Watch what they DO.

Frankly, I think that the media polls will stay MoE with Dem oversampling for the next two weeks until the RNC and then they will start to weight somewhat more accurately and then claim that "Romney got a big boost" from the convention to justify going to more-accurate weighting.

They will probably go back to over-sampling Dems around the DNC to sell a "comeback" narrative to justify trying to make it seem close again for the homestretch.

After all, if it is a Romney blow-out in mid-September, nobody will want to watch the news, and that ad time won't sell itself!

Reality TV is all the media is anymore. What the candidates actually DO tells you what is really going on.

Don't you understand? THEY HAVE NOTHING ELSE. Red Barry can't run on his SCFOAMF record; he has no popular accomplishments. And remember what their strategy was - to (in their own words) "kill" Romney early with an avalanche of smear ads. And, indeed, the avalanche came - $120 million or more worth of the biggest shitstorm in American political history over the last four months. And it hasn't moved the needle one jot or tittle. Mitt was supposed to be roadkill by now, and yet he's still neck and neck with the tin god. And what happens in three weeks? The GOP convention where Mitt will collect the formal nomination, a nice, big poll bounce, and the chance to put his own large cash advantage to devastating effect.

Team Messiah faces the prospect of beginning the general campaign after a truncated embarrassment of a Dem convention five to ten points and tens of millions of dollars in the hole. They are pants-wettingly panicked, and this Burton ball-shot is the proof.

FTFY

They
obviously need to feel like part of a movement, so we just need to
create a movement they'll support which points in the right direction.

I just don't feel like it's worth the effort. They wouldn't have become "liberals" in the first place if they didn't have totalitarian impulses and delusions of their own godhood. "The movement" didn't instill those defects in them; it simply amplified their damage radius.

Remember, you can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into. Look around you -- the smoldering wreckage of liberalism is everywhere, past and present. And what do they do in response? Either blame the forces that opposed their efforts for causing that damage (e.g. bursting of the housing bubble = "unregulated capitalism" and not "government injecting itself into a massive economic sector and picking winners and losers") or pretend like the damage is actually something totally awesome that we should inflict on ourselves (e.g. Western European socialism).

They've decided they're "right" about everything and that they're axiomatically superior to everyone who disagrees with them. No amount of thorazine can crack a dream that self-serving.

Other than Katie Holmes in her prime, the only good part of the movie Disturbing Behavior was where James Marsden told the crazy janitor that the insane kids could be saved and the janitor responded "No, they can't" before driving them all over a cliff. Sure, they probably ended it that way because they were out of cash and the writers had no imagination, but it's still an applicable metaphor here.

When Mitt cuts loose with the bank and little Barry gets his record of fail touted on every channel ten times an hour, Dem turnout will be lucky to be -5.

Look for a Walker-esque victory. Remember that?

So the guy who sets up his teleprompter array in elementary school classrooms is not robotic. Got it.

And the guy who actually IS president canbe the class clown inthese dire economic circumstances, and still get votesfrom the kiddies? Got it.

Freakish....sheesh.

232 It's hilarious that all theDonks can do is whine and cry and act surprised when the GOP uses their own words against them.

Good, glad you got it. Romney's campaign got it when the Rafalca ad came out.

I'm hoping to see an ad where Lovitz interviews Rafalca. The dems have Rafalca speaking like a lady who lunches, the republicans have to have her speaking as a wonderful mom type working woman who really cares about the country and loves mitt....

235 Romney is losing. You guys are just butt hurt.

236 There's nothing "heartbreaking" about this story, eithout or without the despicable, lying scumbag nature of Soptic and the left. That they lied made it worse, but even if everything the despicable, lying scumbag had said in the beginning had been accurate and true (which is never the case with the despicable, lying scumbag left) then ... so what? People get sick and die. That's life. And just because you aren't getting health insurance from your job doesn't mean that you can't buy health insurance (although she still had health insurance, but that's not even a real issue). And no one has the right not to get fired from their job - for whatever reason.

In the end, we see the left in their normal "lying like a banshee" mode but even without that they were trying to smear Romney for something that is insane, to begin with. SO the guy got fired because he sucked or the company he worked for sucked too much to keep itself in business. Tough titties, asswipe. Go buy individual insurance.

This Soptic ass should be deported to Cuba. He'll get "free" health care there and Michael Moore says it's even better than here. I wouldn't want the despicable, lying scumbag Soptic to be getting sub-par health care ... he might die someday. Ship his ass to Cuba, now. He prefers their government down there, too, obviously, as he is working to solidify that same sort of government, here.

These people make me sick. They are nothing but destructive wastes of flesh that weigh down the societies unlucky enough to be burdened with their pathetic existences.

238 Where was the union in all of this? Aren't THEY supposed to take care of the health care as part of their dues? No, the union spent his wife's medical money on Democrat campaigns.

9 Joe Soptic uses his dead wife to campaign for Obama.

Why not? She's still going to vote for Him.

240 28There were a lot of hard cuts in the editing of that ad. I wouldn't be surprised at all if the poor guy had explained it clearly and honestly and his interview was cut up to mislead.Posted by: Hurk at August 08, 2012 09:16 AM (Dh425)You know if that's the case he should've called Fox, since they would be the only news that would air it!

Spot on, here's my problem.

At some point in a good orient phase of the cycle the operator has to index threat severity to responsible action.....

Mitt was a buzzsaw to threats from his right, if he goes McCain and refuses to buzzsaw left when it is time if needed I have donated my last donation cycle to the GOP....

I refuse to let the beltway moderate brigade keep nominating men who don't want the job....

Romney thus far seems to be running a good loop cycle orders of magnitude quicker than McCain and I am not emo rage quitting.....

I have not gotten to have the type of candidate I wanted since 1988.....

244 This reminds me of the anti-nuke group in Japan that treats anyone living in Hiroshima or Nagasaki that died of cancer as a nuclear death. Even 60 years after the bombs.
