| Top Headline Comments 8-1-12August. Whoa, August. I forgot to mention it yesterday: on Monday, GOP Senators successfully filibustered one of Obama's judicial nominees, signalling that they would filibuster all nominees from now until the election. Democrats cried foul, but this is a traditional practice, one that they embraced fully to block Bush 43 nominees in 2004 and 2008. Sens. Coburn, Inhofe, and Hatch voted present. On this topic, the NYTimes editorial on Monday said that it's time to end the filibuster for judicial nominees. It's quite a contrast to a NYTimes editorial in 2005 that said it is "most important" for senators to have a "right of veto" over judicial nominees. I wonder what could have changed since then... The White House has been strangely reluctant to embrace the DNC's proposed gay marriage support in the 2012 platform. Perhaps there's some dawning realization that not everyone, and particularly not black voters, are happy with the idea. Quinnipiac has new swing state polls out of Florida, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. After 7AM, the release will be here. It looks like it's going to be Florida, Obama 51-Romney 45; Ohio, Obama 50-Romney 44; and Pennsylvania, Obama 53-Romney 42. Two caveats: wait for the samples' partisan breakdown numbers, and keep in mind that Obama has outspent Romney 2-1, since Romney has to wait until after the convention to spend general election funds. The L.A. Times has a piece out today on Breitbart.com. A new 30-second Romney ad hits Obama for closing GM dealerships in 2009. I've gotta say: this doesn't strike me as all that effective.Comments1
Good Morning Morons. Today is Wednesday, August 1, 2012. On this day in 1981 MTV made its debut. The first video shown was Video Killed the Radio Star by the Buggles. Appropriate because it did not take long for video to kill rock and roll.

What happened? It wasn’t too long ago that we were saying they were still around but fragmented. Or is it just another executive department writing reports now? If so, what is the agenda? It appears from the article the only place where they are on the rise is Yemen. So that is the agenda. http://is.gd/PKU8xw Posted by: Vic at August 01, 2012 06:54 AM (YdQQY) 3

With LaTourette's Retirement, Few Moderates Left in House Why is it that the MFM finds a Republican a moderate when he spend half of his time crossing the aisle but not so with the Dems? Well, the Dems never have anyone who crosses the aisle as much as LaTourette, in fact I would surmise a Dem would be considered a “moderate” by the press if he had a 10 rating from the ACU. It appears the moral of this story is he didn’t like the latest anti-abortion bill. On the filibuster thing, who was the Republican on the judicial committee who let th9is nominee out of committee? They had been blocking all nominees in committee for a while.
And yes, that is tradition late in the President's term. And the Judicial committee rules require at least one minority Senator approval to go to the floor for a vote. Posted by: Vic at August 01, 2012 07:00 AM (YdQQY) Posted by: Chi-Town Jerry at August 01, 2012 07:02 AM (UTq/I) 17
As for the polls in order to get that kind of an Obama lead they had to over sample Dems by at least 10%.
In any case, polls are still not worth a shit. Posted by: Vic at August 01, 2012 07:02 AM (YdQQY) 18
Republicans trying to sell left-wing populist talking points never works. We can't out-pander the Democrats. GM was failing; the real scandal was that Obama came in and gave the company to the UAW, screwing the bond holders. That dealership may have closed under any circumstances. An ad interviewing retirees etc. who were hosed by the deal would have been more effective and faithful to principles.

Maybe I'm overestimating Willard. But the ad is good...as a cage-rattler. I think it is meant as a shot to Obama. "see how heartless Obama is!"

All the auto companies had too many dealerships and it was hurting them. The problem that I saw was that the dealers that were closed looked like it was based more on political affiliation rather than profitability.

Romney and the GOP have to fight the Obama/MSM "gaffe" attack.
I've said it before, they can't make any line of attack stick to Romney so they have to invent "gaffes" where there are none. This is a concerted effort to blunt the "You didn't build that" debacle. Watch, it will start with SNL this weekend or whenever they start their new season. They were successful in defining Palin using mockery. They will probably bring Chevy Chase out of retirement to start falling off ladders and walking into walls. Posted by: General Woundwort at August 01, 2012 07:19 AM (06lNq) 26

Thanks for the news roundup, Gabe and Vic. Hope everything goes well at the dentist.
Here's a story about Casino Royale - not the Daniel Craig Bond, but the ludicrous 1967 bomb. As you know, Woody Allen and Peter Sellers were starring in the movie. When Allen arrived, he spent three weeks sitting around, since Sellers was rewriting the script, telling everyone how to perform and even sitting in on the cutting. This, of course, added up to a lot of money, and an executive from Columbia came over to find out what on earth was going on. In the lobby of the swanky Dorchester Hotel, he saw Allen and sat down, pouring out his problems with Sellers. "It's terrible," the harried exec finished. "Look, Woody, I don't know how to tell you this, but Peter doesn't want you in the picture. But with all the trouble he's giving us, instead of getting rid of you, we really should get rid of him." "Yes, you should," Woody answered. "You can't put up with that sort of behavior. Get rid of him." And he walked away. The face was Woody's and the voice was Woody's, but the taller body was unmistakably. . . Peter Sellers, who walked off the picture. Any fully engaged, sentient being should recoil at the prospect of four more years for team Obama. So either all of the polls showing Obama with any kind of lead are dubious or America is truly lost and is probably not worth saving. Up from the ashes, a new country shall arise. I can relate to the ad. There was a huge dealership in Gwinnett Co. GA on 316 just before the I-85 merge. Obviously not an Obama supporter because they closed it in a heartbeat. Now it looks like these images; like a ghost town. Everytime I drove to Atlanta, a stark image of what was lost, compounded daily with more bad economic news. In Ohio the car industry is huge. Also, Romney has stated publically he did not support the bailout, and it's hurt him here. So he's trying to form a bridge.

PARTY IDENTIFICATION Republican 27% 359 Democrat 36 373 Independent 32 393 Other/DK/NA 5 52 The numbers on the right are the "unweighted actual respondents". The numbers on the left are "weighted". Yep, it's true as I pointed out yesterday -- there is no problem with voter fraud. Really, you can trust me on this:
Investigators looking into possible vote fraud in Hialeah are now examining at least 31 absentee ballots collected by a suspected ballot broker in two separate instances last week, according to sources familiar with the expanding probe. Last week, Miami-Dade detectives questioned a Hialeah woman named Daisy Cabrera, who was found in possession of at least a dozen absentee ballots belonging to other voters. Detectives have also learned of another instance in which Cabrera collected ballots from voters, the sources said. http://preview.tinyurl.com/bq5x4kf (Miami Herald link) There was no mention in the article of party affiliation, but Harry Reid's turd cutter told me that Daisy belonged to the Tea Party. Prove I'm lying. You're a Daisy if you do. Posted by: GnuBreed at August 01, 2012 07:31 AM (ccXZP) 44

IMHO, NOTHING ever had more negative impact on small towns than the abrupt closures of their GM dealerships. Car dealerships were locally-owned, employed dozens of workers directly, hundreds indirectly & were owned & managed by respected leaders in the community. With the swipe of a political pen, these people were tossed away. I drive through small towns from TN to OH to IA where empty buildings and vacant lots are now the norm.
This ad plays to the heartland. The bond-holder, union & cherry-picked closings are all legitimate issues but this is an emotional ad for those of us who saw a way of life wiped away. If a President WANTED to devastate the micro-economies of hundreds (thousands?) of communities in this country, this was the fastest and most effective way to do it. And it's one of the first things Obama did. Posted by: Amy in Nashville at August 01, 2012 07:32 AM (D+Cui) 46
About the GM ad. It pulls at your heartstrings for a microsecond. It's a short ad, perhaps too short (why not show the family along with the kid picts?). They focused on one dealership, but it would have been more effective, I think, if they showed multiple empty showrooms. I agree this should be mentioned as it is a part of the whole GM debacle, but hammer it home, don't set it out there softly. It IS an Ohio-specific ad. And, it does hit the small or individual business owner. The narrator is kinda weak - which might be the problem with the entire ad! Posted by: adjunct topics at August 01, 2012 07:33 AM (HOOye) 47
The scary part in this polling is that in every single one, the actual respondents showed Republicans and Democrats basically tied. Only after "reweighting" did the Democrats get these huge advantages.

Yeah, that ad's pretty weak.
The big problem with the dealerships was how the ones that lived and died were decided, not the fact that some were shut down. I guess this is to counter Obama's charge that Romney would have "let Detroit go bankrupt", but it needs more oomph. Posted by: Andy at August 01, 2012 07:38 AM (OZPoa) 53

Right... all of that "extra crap" is the formatting code ("CSS") that Internet Explorer puts in the clipboard when you copy text from it. One thing that diminishes the ad is that it happened so early in the reign of Il Douche that it's not fresh in peoples' minds and the "undecideds" probably have the collective attention span of a gnat. And liberals wonder why we are concerned about "creeping/galloping sharia" in the US? Posted by: Hrothgar at August 01, 2012 07:56 AM (Cnqmv) Indeed. There's only one small bit of ironic satisfaction to be had - the muz will likely kill the libtards first. Or at the very least force them into submission first. But, that's not enough to make me think that letting the US be overrun by muslim trash is a tolerable outcome. Better that the US be burned to a radioactive cinder than to allow the muz to win. Right now, all we would have to do is put our collective foot down and say "Enough." And we could readily get rid of them. Alas - the damn do-gooders repeat over and over their nonsense mantra: "But what about all the GOOD muslims?" The correct answer to that question is - THOSE AREN'T MUSLIMS. They're MINOs. I think a more effective GM ad would revolve around my experience.
My Chevy truck (under warranty) broke down in Bishop, California, in 2010. I found out that GM had closed the dealership in Bishop because it was "only" about 40-50 miles from a dealership in Fresno. Problem: there is no direct road from Bishop to Fresno. (The Sierra Nevada range kind of gets in the way.) GM would only tow the vehicle 200 miles, and it was over 300 to the "nearest dealer." I wound up having it towed down US 395 to the Los Angeles area because it was just inside the 200-mile tow limit. They originally wanted to tow it 180 miles NORTH, and I was headed SOUTH. They didn't even LOOK at the map when they shut down dealerships. Posted by: Cobalt Shiva at August 01, 2012 08:05 AM (1iauC) 89

Now I see it in the Republican Jewish web ads. Nice validation. Now some more sage advice per FL: SuperPacs must run ObamaCare ads, set in the near future, depicting denial of medical service to people b/c of age. As for the Ad, I think maybe the time has passed for it to resonate. I was incensed at the time, but, the Taupe Dope has done so many things that were even worse, the dealerships just seems rather quaint now. Another aspect is the fact that everyone loves a new car, but, deep in our heart of hearts, we know the dealership is screwing us to the wall when we buy one. I remain more angry about the bondholders being left with nothing while the UAW who caused the problems walked away with a huge corporation in their pockets.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A private survey shows U.S. businesses kept hiring at a modest pace in July, suggesting the job market could be improving after three sluggish months. Payroll provider ADP said Wednesday that businesses added 163,000 jobs last month. That's slightly below a revised total of 172,000 jobs it reported for June. The really shitty numbers suggest that the job market is improving comrades Posted by: TheQuietMan at August 01, 2012 09:12 AM (2WKX9) Posted by: CharlieBrown'sDildo (NJConservative) at August 01, 2012 09:13 AM (nEUpB) 143

Romney in 08? He tested the waters but was wisely convinced (or decided himself) to withdraw. Even if Obumbles hadn't made things worse, the economy was going to be bad for a couple of years. If a Republican had won, the press would have used the bad economy to drive a stake into the heart of the party and the Dems would have gotten a 20 year run in the White House.
The Republicans, thinking strategicly, WANTED to lose in 08. So viable candidates were withdrawn to prevent tarnishing, and McLame pushed to the front. Had Romney been his VP picked he would have destroyed any potential for a presidential run in 12. Seen from that perspective, it's interesting that McCain came as close as he did. Romney should run an ad on how Obama destroyed the DC voucher program in MD and N. VA. Not necessarily to win MD but to move the conversation. Who would want to watch Axelrod squirm as he explains why blacks in DC don't need a good education? Then Romney surrogates can move the conversation to school funding and further expose the failures as DC schools get plenty of money. Killing the program is one of the most reprehensible acts of his soon to be short time in office.
Every time Obama yell "squirrel!" Romney should have one in the chamber ready to move the conversation into something that hurts Obama. Posted by: theworldisnotenough at August 01, 2012 09:24 AM (v2BZS) 161

I think the ad is alright, but it could be a better. The "bailout" did not go over well in Michigan with everybody. many Michiganders-even union people- had stock in the car companies. so did lots of pension plans. Everybody who held on to the stock lost all of their money, and even people who sold it, sold it after they had lost money. and the fact that the companies were given to the unions did not help. It helped the union leaders a lot, but not the members. sure a lot of members kept their jobs, but with the housing crisis, most members did not even stay even. Obama screwed up with the car companies. people in Michigan have always thought getting ahead was a goal, now it is just hanging on.

Seems like everyone's getting a bad case of jitters right now.
Chill out, guys. Obama's heading for a fall this fall. I predict a Reagan-Carter style blowout for the Republicans. The media are spinning like crazy, which means that all those "swing states" aren't swing states at all -- they're solid Romney and that terrifies Obama and his handlers. A lot of the solid Obama states are wobbling. I live in Massachusetts and I wouldn't be at all surprised to see this state swing for Romney. Sure, there are plenty of Democrats here . . . but how many of them will "forget to vote" on Election Day? They'll bitch about Republicans in public but in private they're starting to get scared of what Obama is capable of. They're teenagers who tried to piss off Mom and Dad by going out with that kid everyone says is in a gang. Only now they're at some scary rundown house in another part of town with a bunch of strange guys with tattoos and right now it would be really helpful if Dad were to show up to drive them home. Sure, tomorrow or next week they'll talk about what awful racists Mom and Dad are . . . but the rush of relief when they see Dad pull up in the minivan is palpable. Romney is Dad. I am not trying to start a fight about whether or not Ann looks good. She does. My point is that she can look better and there are no votes to be given away this time around. Yes, it is a sad state of affairs that a huge chunk of the American public can name all the Kardashians, all the winners of Idol and Dancing With The Stars, yet, they cannot name their own Congress Critter. A lot of these uneducated and undecided voters will vote on what their unconscious minds are telling them about the next couple to inhabit the WH.

At what? 8PM I'm already back inside, saying the elections over and I'd only crushed two butts and had half a drink. Unless Romney scores a win to match Roosevelt v. Landon, Johnson v. Goldwater or Nixon v. McGovern, it won't be enough. Bark Obama's regime, now firmly entrenched in the White House, Congress and just about every gubmint agency, is like a snake. You can't destroy it without cutting off the head. The only way to get the message to Obama's choom-addled brain is to hand him so terrible and crushing a defeat that he must focus all his energies between the election and Jan. 20 on merely getting through each day. Ex-leader of major California union faces theft, tax charges After a years-long probe, Tyrone Freeman, once a rising star in the nation's labor movement, is indicted on federal charges of stealing from SEIU workers to enrich himself. On Tuesday, though, Freeman was indicted on federal charges of stealing from those workers to enrich himself — even billing the union for costs from his Hawaiian wedding. The 15-count indictment, which also contains allegations that he violated tax laws and gave false information to a mortgage lender, carries combined maximum prison sentences of more than 200 years. The last paragraph is the best part of the NYT article. Provided without permission:
"A decade ago, this page expressed support for tactics that would have gone even further than the "nuclear option" in eliminating the power of the filibuster. At the time, we had vivid memories of the difficulty that Senate Republicans had given much of Bill Clinton's early agenda. But we were still wrong. To see the filibuster fully, it's obviously a good idea to have to live on both sides of it. We hope acknowledging our own error may remind some wavering Republican senators that someday they, too, will be on the other side and in need of all the protections the Senate rules can provide." Since this is soon to become a dead thread and this seems appropriate to post again in light of the Dems continuing chutzpah and lies I wanted to post again what I think is a big difference between conservatives and liberals. Its an excerpt from the book Tides of War. I've posted it a few times in past.
Conservatives are courageous but not bold. Liberals are bold but not courageous. Boldness is impatient. Courage is long-suffering. Boldness cannot endure hardship or delay; it is ravenous, it must feed on victory or it dies. Boldness makes its seat upon the air; it is gossamer and phantom. Courage plants its feet upon the earth and draws its strength from God’s holy fundament. The bold man is prideful, brazen, ambitious. The brave man calm, God-fearing, steady. The bold man seeks to divide; he wants his own and will shoulder his brother aside to loot it. The brave man unites. He succors his fellow, knowing that what belongs to the commonwealth belongs to him as well. The bold man covets; he sues his neighbor in the law court, he intrigues, he dissembles. The brave man is content with his lot; he respects that portion the gods have granted and husband it, comporting himself with humility as heaven’s steward. In troubled times the bold man flails about in effeminate anguish, seeking to draw his neighbors into his misfortune, for he has no strength of character to fall back upon other than to drag others down to his own state of wickedness. Now the brave man. In dark hours he endures silently, uncomplaining. Reverencing the round of heaven’s seasons, he does what must be done, sustaining himself with the certainty that to endure injustice with patience is the mark of piety and wisdom. UC Irvine professor accused of plot against son's school Police arrested Rainer Reinscheid, a 48-year-old professor at UC Irvine, on charges of trying to light a fire in Mason Park Preserve with newspaper and lighter fluid. It was not far from the wooded spot where his 14-year-old son, Claas Stubbe, had hanged himself four months earlier. Reinscheid, who teaches in the department of pharmaceutical science, posted bail and was released that day. But when police examined his cellphone three days later, they found something they described as much more sinister: emails in which he allegedly spoke of committing mass murder at University High School, the campus his son had attended. In the emails, Reinscheid had allegedly planned to obtain firearms to murderstudents and administrators, commit sexual assault, burn down the school and then kill himself, said Farrah Emami, spokeswoman for the Orange County district attorney's office. You joke, but surveys indicate that hybrid shoppers consider the part where many of them look weird a plus, because people can then tell at a glance that They Care. Hybrids that look like normal cars have largely sold poorly. #153 With the exception of Nancy Reagan, Republican wives have suffered from what I consider sabotage by the fashion industry. Laura Bush's gowns too often had rounded necklines, making her look short-necked and matronly. We also went through a period of bows on her waistline that had the effect of making it look wider. Barbara Bush often wound up with unflattering colors, but because she looked like everyone's grandma no one paid attention.
Since Mrs. Bush mainly prefers wearing jeans and cotton shirts around the ranch, and was a librarian in her pre-marriage days, I am assuming she never paid much attention to fashion and simply believed people when they said she looked "fabulous." Mrs. Romney is wearing too many small scale prints which look busy and which too many fashion sales people often swear that "prints are our friends" and that they "hide figure flaws." I have heard this BS numerous times myself. That shirt with the bird head which looks like a dead fish has to go. Likewise the print she wore to the Polish memorial. I know this sounds stupid, but visuals are important. She looked super at an interview in red and white, with her hair in a classy knot. More of this, please. This latest Quinnipiac poll asks the likely voters about weather Romney should release more tax returns along with questions about Bain Capital. IMHO this totally invalidates the poll! Imagine if they also asked in the SAME POLL weather the likely voters have a problem with POTUS Obama having 3 social Security numbers as well as if they have a problem with POTUS Obama hiding his college documents that may reveal he received funds to pay for it as a FOREIGN STUDENT. Like that will ever be asked by the MSM pollsters.

Another fun story found via Drudge:
The Deadliest Global City: Chicago Link to NBC Chicago: http://tinyurl.com/ck2ocvc Chicago likes to compare itself to other world cities, so Ward Room thought it would find out how we rank in violence. It turns out no one can top us. Among what are considered Alpha world cities, Chicago has the highest murder rate (MWR: 19.4 per 100,000) -- higher even than the Third World metropolises of Mexico City and Sao Paolo.... They've got the list at the link. It's great. I love how they turn this number into a call for GREATER gun control, at the federal level. Gun lovers are gleeful about Chicago’s deadly summer. They see it as a rebuke not just to gun control, but to the policies of Barack Obama and Rahm Emanuel. But Chicago’s murder rate is not proof that gun control doesn’t work. It’s proof that, in a country with one gun per citizen, local gun laws are meaningless... They then go on to talk about how Tokyo has such a small percentage of murders, particularly murders committed using guns. They fail to mention that, in Japan, police are promoted based on the number of cases they close. So a lot of murderers are charged with "abandonment of a corpse" or something else similarly easy to prove, and the murder charge is only pursued in slam dunk cases, or cases with massive publicity. You don't list a victim as having been murdered if you can't then close the case. It looks bad on your resume. But nevertheless, NBC Chicago says, local gun laws are stupid. Only universal gun restrictions from the Federal government, like those in Japan, are effective. Get it? Because in Japan, the government doesn't believe that all people have the right to own a gun. That pesky Second Amendment that says that Americans DO have the right to own a gun is the problem! But of course (since gun control is a third rail issue to pursue in an election year), NBC Chicago concludes by saying that gun control isn't the big issue. The big problem is urban poverty. The answer,of course, is to pour more money into the inner cities, because that's worked so well every other fucking time it's been tried. Oh, and of course... The number-one factor in predicting crime is not guns -- or lack of guns. It is concentrated urban poverty. Because of Chicago’s history as a segregated city, we have a lot of that. ...racism. Gotta have the racism. Posted by: MWR, Proud Tea(rrorist) Party Hobbit and ABO Supporter at August 01, 2012 11:04 AM (4df7R) 318

#349 -- here's what I think is happening regarding these polls:
When pollsters are asking voters to identify their party registration, a good chunk of registered Dems are self--identifying as "independent" to pollsters. The pollsters, in turn, are taking them at their word and placing them in the independent category. Then, when the polls undersample Dems and oversample Independents, they adjust by weighing the sample in favor of Dems and against Republicans (don't ask me what that is done but I think that's what's happening). This works as a double whammy for Obama because the Dems who identify as independent are the most likely to express a preference for Romney, since they aren't being counted as Dems the remaining sample shows overwhelming support for Obama, and it is THAT sample that is used to extrapolate Dem support after re-weighing the polling data. Here's my evidence: #1) Almost all of these polls show an unusually high level of independents, considerably higher than in previous elections. Check the crosstabs on the Q polls, plus the recent CBS news poll that had independents at 41%. #2) Almost all of these polls show Obama's support at 90+% among Democrats, even though he only received 89% of the Democratic vote in the 2008 election and even these skewed polls concede his support in the overall electorate is far less than it was back then. That number is impossible UNLESS not all of the Democrats being reached are reporting themselves as Democrats. Thoughts? Posted by: German Shepards Pie at August 01, 2012 11:33 AM (20/BR) 365

The polls do what they do to try and create a "preference cascade" for Obama. It's inevitable. He's going to win. Give up. The edge in Ohio is ludicrous. It's going to be close, but there is little enthusiasm for him here. I see a few Obama/Biden 2012 bumper stickers, but invariably the person driving the car is some mugwump teacher-type or an African American. Ohio has been second only to Michigan in auto worker jobs, and hear me now and believe me later, when I say that even UAW auto worker drones are none to happy about the way Mr. Obama is leading the country. The greatest enthusiasm for him is in the parasite-drone class that is enamored with "free Healthcare!". Everybody is sore about high gas prices, and there are a lot of cities and towns where the unemployment / underemployment is hitting hard, and nobody is fooled by the nonsense pumped out by Obama and the government. The greatest thing that Romney can do is be completely honest about what is going on (in his opinion) and what the Romney presidency can do about it. The one big sticking point is the hostility that was raised against Kasich over the repeal of SB5 (reduction in collective bargaining rights by state employees). That still has people's panties in a wad, and it will be interesting in seeing how that carries over into the General Election in November. Posted by: Reader C.J. An Obama administration decision to exempt military personnel programs from potential across-the-board budget cuts in January does not mean troops and their families would feel no impact from the budget process known as sequestration.
Testifying before the House Armed Services Committee, Deputy Defense Secretary Ashton Carter warned of potential widespread effects. For service members, retirees and families, Carter warned, reductions in health care funding would result in “delays in payments to service providers and, potentially, some denial of service” under the Tricare health care program. Reductions in operating funds also would result in reduced operating hours for commissaries, and Carter warned that cuts in construction and maintenance funds would lead to delays in new construction and in repairs for existing buildings, including schools and medical centers. Training would be cut for all of the services. Officials would try to minimize impact on deploying units by cutting more deeply into training for those not scheduled to deploy. “Some late-deploying units, including some deploying to Afghanistan, could receive less training, especially in the Army and Marine Corps. Under some circumstances, this reduced training could impact their ability to respond to a new contingency, should one occur,” Carter said. Air Force flying hours “could be reduced by several hours a month, and Navy steaming days could decline by several days a quarter,” he said. Lest anyone not fully grasp the implications, Carter emphasized: “The result will be reduced training and lower readiness.” And for those of you that don't know, funds for training are already cut to the bone. I'm still not sure what to make of the SB5 vote because I thought it should pass just on its merits. Maybe Ohio has more union humps than I realized. Or maybe Kasich isn't that popular; he barely beat Twitch Strickland who for four years didn't do a fucking thing that didn't have horrible results. Or some of it may have had to do with the internal Repub anti-Kasich sniping from the likes of Kevin DeWine, whom the Tea Party got rid of in the last election.
