The Obamas Have $450,000 Invested In Companies That Outsource

This is so stupid. But Obama has dictated we have to talk about dumb shit like this, so we don't talk about the fact that he is a Stuttering Clusterf**k of a Miserable Failure.

Something has just occurred to me: That Obama is counting on the Bain attack not to reap dividends in and of itself, but to prepare the battlespace for his real attack, Mediscare.

Paint him as a brutalizer of poor, vulnerable folk now so when they bring on the Throw Grandma Down The Stairs attack, the public will be inclined to think the worst.

If this is the case -- and it seems likely to me -- Romney really has to push back against this, and not merely in a tu quoque way against Obama; he has to push the image of a smart, careful custodian of money, whose decisions, while unfathomable to a piker like Obama, were ultimately good for the economy.

11 Right, Romney should focus on the "he thinks I ran a big financial business well while also running the first financially successful Olympics of all time?" and how good he is with economic and business issues. This opens up a door to look great instead of one to attack or push back on.

Romney should focus on how good he is at business and contrast that with how lousy Obama has. And maybe he has that in mind, for later.

And to sit here and assume we can is a stupid and a waste of time. We have to create the kind of Industries, Ideas, and products we can compete in. And we have to outsource in the other areas. Romney should stand up and say of course we outsource some things, only an Idiot doesn't understand that.

Some where, somehow there, buried in his Obamacare (denouncing myself) bill is something that benefits an offshore company.

The attack ad I'd produce would say, "[the JEF] raided $500 billion from Medicare to pay companies to outsource medical transcription to India!" Then I'd have grandmas and grandpas, "$500 billion?! From my healthcare?! And he took jobs away from Americans?!!!"

Without even looking, I guarantee that has happened. And I don't give a flying fuck it it hasn't--the JEF laid the ground rules, you can lie, lie, lie and even if the media says it's a lie, keep lying. When the JEF side says it's a lie, say, "So was his claim that I outsourced jobs at Bain, but you didn't care about that."

President Obama is weaning himself off his teleprompter.
At
recent campaign events in Pennsylvania, Virginia and again Monday in
Ohio, Obama spoke to crowds in high school gymnasiums and at crowded
outdoor events without his teleprompter, instead using written notes.
The
difference is dramatic. Instead of turning in his characteristic manner
from right to left and back again, reading from the two sloping,
clear-plastic planes of his teleprompter, Obama has glanced down at
pages in a binder on his podium.
Team Obama thinks the switch, or
partial switch — the president is not giving up the teleprompter
entirely — will help him better connect with voters.

Yeah, offshoring and outsourcing are two different things, though Barry sure doesn't undertstand that. No one else seems willing to explain the difference either, which is a shame, because I'm sure Romneygets it.
Offshoring isn't even necessarily bad, because hey, reduced costs are generally a good thing. Comparative advantages are a little harder to explain, but it can be done. (Wasn't it a Founding Father who said, "I will go where I can buy products the cheapest?", in response to the British trade monopoly on the Colonies? I'm sure it's in Stuff Jefferson's BFF's and FrenemiesSaid.) It's justso much easier to demagogue, which is, like, 90% or so of the Democrat/media playbook.
(Anyway, outsourcing-- well, domestic outsourcing-- is more of a wash, in the sense of X fewer jobs here, but roughly X more jobs there, and they're better at it, etc.)

Posted by: Jay Bee at July 17, 2012 03:06 PM (Xwgt3)

51 Of course they did. Considering how many companies outsource, and how many people invest in 401(k)'s and so forth, then most everyone is going to have invested in companies that offshore.

And that will be realized by more and more people as this attack sticks around. Which is why I am surprised that the Obama campaign is shooting off so much of these good shots so early, when there is time for damage control and for the entire thing to die down. It only makes sense when I start reading so many coming to the conclusion that Obama is doing this to prevent his total collapse in the summer polls.

Team Obama is desperate and stupid. First, if you want to wean him off the teleprompter, you don't wait until 3 months before the election. Reading off a teleprompter is a skill Obama has honed (I will give him that) but making him do something different will make him look awkward and weird.

And he CANNOT speak extemporaneously. That's when he starts going all Dr. Strangelove and making a commie salute.

One thing, this is probably his stump speech that he gives about 5 times a week so it ought to be memorized. He isn't leaving TOTUS for anything else.

But they don't want teleprompter mockery and so that's why (a) they're doing it and (b) pointing it out to the media.

Look, outsourcing is a fact of economic life, it may not be pleasant, but it happens and it's real, and it's ultimately a good thing. Sort of like how Honda, BMW, MB, and Toyota have opened plants here, you know? And see here, even SCOAMF put $ overseas.

And you know what? A few years ago libs were gay for china as the next big investment spot because they heart totalitarianism.

So, Mitt gets to be mr. downer. He should at least realize that he's the one being asked to defend the facts of life, not the one who's policy goals is to realize santa clause as a valid economic policy.

And every day I am more convinced they really don't have a clue what's coming for them. It might depend on how soon it breaks, but if it does break before November, the country is going to so resoundingly reject these idiots that Obama will be lucky to win Illinois.

Yeah, I think I can guess what an "oyster ditch" is, but, in all seriousness, it sure would be niceifsome daywe couldlearn just what Peter Geithner was doing in mentoring Stanley Ann's career in turd-world microfinance all those years.

And how it was that his son, Timothy "Timmy TurboTax" Geithner just HAPPENED to be the NY Fed Chief who laundered the billions in hush money to Goldman Sachs in December of 2008, after Goldman [working out of the Paulson Treasury Dept]had been so kind as to sabotage the McCain campaign back in September of 2008.

You know, there are some who believe that the Dunhams might have been CIA, and that the CIA was controlling their careers [and that L'il Barry Soetoro's 1981/82 trip to Pakistan might have been on the behalf of the CIA].

If so, and if Geithner Pere et Fils were themselvesalso CIA, then it sure would explain a lot [in an Oliver Stone/Robert Ludlum conspiratorial kinduva fashion].

But if theyoffshore the job out of the country, they don't have to pay this new tax. This can only have the same effect as a tax break for companies thatoffshore jobs.

"If only all Libtards would suffer a similar dose of hard justice."

In addition to the question of whether the Dunhams [and the Geithners] might actually have been CIA, another thing folks have been wondering about is this whole question of neo-feudalism, and whether the Libtards WANT to re-create North Korea in the USA, precisely because they envision themselves as Kim Jong Il and the gang, partying all night on champagne and caviar and whores, while all of us flyover-country serfs are left trying to survive on a diet of grass and tree bark.

Seriously.

Rush Limbaugh almost went there today [he got so far as to say, "we all know what the real answer is"], but there just seems to be this steadfast reluctance on the part of the Right to confront the awful truth which is that the Left really does want to destroy this country.

On the other hand, I heard David Horowitz say that very thing on television the other day [I think maybe he was talking to Hannity???], so there are some people out there who are starting to broach the topic.

166 U.S. commanders increasingly are turning to a relatively obscure battlefield detective to find buried bombs, a major killer of Americans in Afghanistan.

But getting permission to buy the detection system has not been easy, a congressman says.

The detective is not a sniffer dog, surveillance gear or metal detector. It is a software platform called Palantir that allows intelligence analysts to quickly mine streams of war-fighting data and calculate likely spots where the Taliban are hiding improvised explosive devices (IEDs) to attack allied convoys.

The Washington Times has obtained internal military documents that show commanders praising Palantir as a roadside-bomb buster. At the same time, they had to urge higher-ups to let them buy the system because the software platform is not standard issue or a separate budgeted item.

“The problem with the military is they have big programs for billions and billions of dollars, and Palantir is a semi-off-the-shelf, awesome product — software that’s written by geniuses not working at the Defense Department,” said Rep. Duncan Hunter, California Republican and member of the House Armed Services Committee.

“This is a long-term Pentagon issue in the way that the Pentagon and the war-fighters kind of fight over what they should be using because they don’t see things eye to eye,” he said.

“Palantir is being used, but not without a fight. Ground combat commanders are having to fight to get stuff to use that the Pentagon doesn’t want them to use.”

People aren't going to want to hear this, because there are still lots of bitter feelings about it, but what Perry and Gingrich did was point out the fact that Romney didn't want to go into detail about his business dealings. Romney LOOKED like he was hiding something. I know plenty of folks around here were flummoxed that Republican candidates for President were seeming to express a certain distaste for Capitalism (with a Capital C!!), so it might be nice if, now that the primaries are over, we could all acknowledge that they were not, of course, doing that.

Battlefield Earth wasn't terrible, but it's hard to see it as anyone's favorite novel. Props to MR for being honest though; I love me some schlocky science fiction myself.

174 People aren't going to want to hear this, because there are still lots
of bitter feelings about it, but what Perry and Gingrich did was point
out the fact that Romney didn't want to go into detail about his
business dealings.

Oh bullshit, they did exactly what Obama is doing now. They were crying about the poor factory worker that was ass-raped by Romney's rapacious greed. Ask ace, even he picked up the baton and ran with it for a little while.

176 But we can blow money and flush it down the toilet on shit like the Chevy Volt?

Comrade, you forget that our nomenklatura cronies get to skim some funds from the Chevy Volt and Solyndra investments, but the troops don't contribute to the Party and besides we suppress their vote, so we don't need to worry about them!

177 "People aren't going to want to hear this, because

Gingrich did was point out the fact that Romney didn't want to go into
detail about his business dealings. Romney LOOKED like he was hiding
something. I know plenty of folks around here were flummoxed that
Republican candidates for President were seeming to express a certain
distaste for Capitalism (with a Capital C!!), so it might be nice if,
now that the primaries are over, we could all acknowledge that they were
not, of course, doing that.

Apparently not though.

Posted by: BurtTC at July 17, 2012 03:48 PM (TOk1P)"There was a WSJ editorial about Romney not quite wanting to really take ownership of what private equity does, essentially, and accusing him of turning his career more into a venture capital scenario. The former deals with the unfortunate fact that, over time, with bad management, market shifts, whatever, companies become bloated and uncompetitive. It really is a case of triage at that point, where some assets and people need to be let go and some stay. And sometimes the few that stay only stay because others' jobs got offshored. I know a lot of people in the field and some of what they do isn't pretty, but the alternative is most often worse. Venture capital, on the other hand, is all about growth and new technology and other more "sexy" stuff. So, I can see where this perception of Romney comes from. He's talking about himself as a "businessman" in the abstract more than a "private equity" guy in particular.
Fact is, the US government needs a private equity guy more trying to bring it back under control more than it needs a guy like Obama playing venture capitalist with the taxpayers' money, trying to find new things for government to expand into.Another thing that I think is at play is just the difference between business and government. Having participated in a few projects that led to mass layoffs myself, the one thing that you notice right away is that at a certain point, debate about whether the layoffs are good or bad is just over and the only thing driving day-to-day decision-making are the cold, hard numbers and facts. It's also very autocratic and in a business context like that where a Bain Capital comes in to your company, what Mitt Romney says is what goes. No questioning his authority like it's some kind of democracy. It's so different from the touchy-feely bullshit discourse in the political arena where every American's vote counts as much as the next guy's, no matter how stupid one of them is. I'm sure that Romney has more stories along the lines of "Those guys told me that we might be able to survive if we only cut 1000 jobs and shut down 1 plant, but I told them to stuff it, we're cutting 2000 and shutting down 2 plants because then we'll definitely survive." That's just the nature of the role he played in that business. But voters don't want to hear about that sort of autocratic decision-making.
Yes, I know that government is actually the worst in terms of treating people like numbers, but, and I'll never really understand how anyone could believe it, the huge hulking government apparatus of the advanced Western nations has somehow convinced a good chunk of its citizenry that it's "compassionate" and "cares" about each and every one of them. The very rhetoric of it makes me puke, but lots of idiots lap that shit up like mother's milk, like that retard who thought Obama was going to pay her fucking mortgage. What I really wish, though, and maybe I just haven't looked for it enough, is that Romney would tie in the need to develop our energy resources and the ability to generate significant numbers of jobs for exactly the type of worker who's been getting the shaft over the past few decades as the offshoring boom has been taking place. Energy production jobs can't be offshored, by their nature, and they'll be more blue-collar than white-collar. If I were Romney, one way I would talk about my experiences in offshoring work would be to say that some of that work had to be offshored in part because we weren't doing enough to develop energy resources here in the US, which raised the cost to manufacture (manufacturing is massively energy-intensive), which meant that the ability to save a few bucks an hour on labor made the shift to non-US locations worth it. Obviously, that's not the whole story of offshoring, but it's part of it and that ramping up energy production can help slow offshoring as well.

179 "hey were crying about the poor factory worker that was ass-raped by Romney's rapacious greed."

I agree, it was idiotic, treacherous, and self-destructive. They were basically anti-capitalist for a while in their desperation to win and gain power and it was repulsive to behold.
