Reactions to Obama's stupid "you didn't build that" comment: Rep. Paul Ryan had a lot to say. RNC Chairman Reince Priebus: "Says a lot about Obama's big govt philosophy." The Romney campaign says Obama's insults to business owners "reflect just how unqualified he is to lead us to a real economic recovery." A Chamber of Commerce blogger was more measured: "the basic idea behind all of these comments is really objectionable and offensive." There was no official statement from the Chamber.* The National Federation of Independent Businesses (the group that sued over Obamacare) hit the right note in an official statement: “His unfortunate remarks over the weekend show an utter lack of understanding and appreciation for the people who take a huge personal risk and work endless hours to start a business and create jobs." *UPDATE: I'm told that the Chamber post was written by the Chief Operating Officer, so it's "pretty official."Comments

Business groups slam the ego-meister over his idiotic comment about successful people having help from the government to get where they got. It is not surptising that the SOB thinks this way though. In Chicago and Obama’s world people to get help from the government. It is normally called corruption. Obama has brought it to the White House with his version of crony corruption. Iowa Representative Steven King outflanks stupid animal rights shitheads in CA. They passed a stupid law in CA which required chickens to be housed in larger cages than the industry standard. A move clearly designed to make it more expensive to raise chickens (taking a clue from the stupid eco-green-commies). But they went one further and required that all farmers shipping eggs to CA had to meet the same standards. This they can not do. The amendment to the farm bill squashes this requirement. King deserves kudos for this move.

Listening to the Obama speech again I can see how they could say he didn't mean, "You didn't build the business," but instead, "You didn't build the roads, etc..."
However, the fact Team Obama seems to have made no attempt to walk this back makes me believe whether or not he actually meant they didn't build the business or not, that's exactly the impression he wants to leave.

Yes there is a rule for that. You must take temperature and humidity readings using calibrated instruments and either provide protection, or calculate "stay times".
However, if the warehouse is a separate unit and has less than 50 employees most OSHA regulations do not apply.

Look up precautions and symptoms and know them.

Today in 1916, the film Purity was released by the Mutual Film Corporation. Starring Audrey Munson, a model also known as "The American Venus," it was her second movie, as well as being the second in which she appeared totally nude (her first, Inspiration was earlier in the year). The plot, like each of her four movies, casts her as an artists' model in order to get her clothes off.

Today in 1916, the film Purity was released by the Mutual Film Corporation. Starring Audrey Munson, a model also known as "The American Venus," it was her second movie, as well as being the second in which she appeared totally nude (her first, Inspiration was earlier in the year). The plot, like each of her four movies, casts her as an artists' model in order to get her clothes off.
In 1919, Munson was living in a New York boarding house, whose owner fell in love with her, murdering his wife so he could ask for Munson's hand. You can still stand up and pee in a toilet. The problems is that you only have so much room for heads, even on an aircraft carrier. Toilets take up a lot more space than a urinal and since peeing occurs a lot more than shittng, the available toilets will be be even more crowded.
And here is another problem I bet they haven't allowed for. Toilet paper was always in short supply on our carrier. Women need toilet paper when they pee, men don't.

Re the new femi-carriers, why not just make someall-women combatships? Better for everyone. Women get to have a taste of shooting war, which apparently they really crave. Men will nothave to see women getting burned up, shot to peices, etc. during the battle, which they would find distracting. When an actual war starts, the female sailors will find it more difficult to get pregnant and avoid service in combat, or at the very least it will only incapacitate a few ships. Then, when an all-women ship finally goes down to the deep with massive loss of life, as sometimes happens in wars, America will have an incident sufficiently grim to bring some adult-level clarity to our thinking on the matter.

We just put our kids in private christian school (and cut ourselves to the - home grown squash every night- budget bone to do it..) and she says perhaps the business will do better soon. Whereas if Europe goes into a true depression, the fallout will be very unpleasant.Nobody wants that, because we'll see capital destruction on an unprecendented level.
The Fed participates, because it has limited options. You don't bite the hand that feeds you. The Fed knows that if Congress gets pissed off enough crazy things can, and will, happen. The Fed has to play ball, and try to manage the situation to the best of their ability. Will the banksters make more money? Yup. But guess what - that's a tale as old as time, and just part of life. May as well get used to that.
As for Congress auditing the Fed, to what end? For what purpose? They already know what's going on. Who profits by turning over that rock? The Fed participates, because it has limited options. You don't bite the hand that feeds you. The Fed knows that if Congress gets pissed off enough crazy things can, and will, happen. The Fed has to play ball, and try to manage the situation to the best of their ability. Will the banksters make more money? Yup. But guess what - that's a tale as old as time, and just part of life. May as well get used to that.
As for Congress auditing the Fed, to what end? For what purpose? They already know what's going on. Who profits by turning over that rock? It's just one more thing that will stir up uncertainty and worry and further erode investor and consumer confidence. Congress can audit all they like for all I care. But I'd rather they keptthe resultsto themselves.
It's like these foolish wranglings over the mythological "debt ceiling." It's a sham, and a waste of time. Worse, it gets people all worked up and worried about default and massive disruption of the status quo. All for nothing.

Food prices are way up across the board, except for one random item. Live New England lobster is apparently at a long-time low. Like five or six bucks a pound at the dock, they tell me. I'll find out myself in a couple weeks. I don't think I can even buy decent bologna for that price.

One other ting to keep in mind about the fed. Before the initial "stimulus" scam was done by congress and Obama the fed dumped $600B into the system with "created money" to the banks for "liquidity". That wasn't enough so they dumped another $300B.
That's how stimulus was able to use their money for just another round of Democrat socialism spending. That's OK for stimulating hookers, blow, and liquor stores but doesn't do much for the economy as a whole.

If we are going to monetize the debt, as it appears we are going to do, wouldn't it be better to just have the treasury create the money? When the Federal Reserve buys to debt, we get the money, but we are also obligated to repay it. So we get inflation and debt, instead of just inflation.

But assuming food IS up -why not? Wehave increased standards of living in the 3rd world, since that's where all the jobs went. They eat more meat, thus less cheap food. Russia's wheat fields burned up a few years back and they went from exporting massiveamounts of wheat to a total export ban. Australia's wheat got flooded out a couple years back.
Gas is way up - but why is that a shocker? India and China are using more and more, the Gulfis STILL largely in shut down mode, and the new sources of oilare mostlylow-flow-rate deposits. Nat gas is at record lows, so low they're shutting down capacity to restore profitability.

Here's my worst case scenario: we repudiate out debt to foreigners and the FR when we adopt the NewDollar, international trade collapses, wartime like rationing and compulsory service is enacted to keep the populous busy and reasonably quiet.
I don't think we will get a coup or a strongman type arrangement, since I think it is against our nature.
We may well take over Canada and possibly Mexico though, for the resources.

Tree things I've bought every week for 2 years ave gone up dramatically. Peanuts (for me) were about 3 bucks a jar for Planter's, now up to 4 bucks. Tuna (for the cats) up from about 69 cents a can to 99 cents. Bagged apples (for the horses) have gone up maybe 50 cents a bag. Some of this is surely seasonal and whatnot, but the trend is broad and steep.

So, why aren't we working on proposals to decouple the revenue for police, fire and teachers from the general fund?
You know, say a local resolution that requires that 95% of all property tax revenue (and/or sales tax--whatever is sufficient to fund them at the level five years prior) go to such.
Which would force them to fund their bloat through other taxes and they couldn't hold us hostage whenever they wanted more money.

I suspect there are many union men like my dad who have just about had it with the D party, and good-for-nothings like our President.

There's a microcosm of the current US situation going on in my office. I work for a very small family owned firm. Over the last two years, we've shed half our employees due to a downturn in business. The patriarch of the firm spent over 40 years building the business and earning a good reputation. The son took over and, without going into detail, within three years he burnt that to the ground. The son is now out of the business and is blaming everyone but himself for the horrible things that he did. The father, who was looking forward to enjoying the retirement he spent a lifetime savings towards, is now working 60+ hours per week in an attempt to undo the damage. I can't help but think of this every single time I hear the SCOAMT talking. Person A spends a lifetime earning things, Person B considers it his birthright and blows it all and then Person A is left picking up the pieces.
To say this fills me with incandescent rage is a tad of an understatement.

For the record, if it were up to me we'd have mandatory workfare (unpleasant jobs that do not compete with the private sector), and mandatory (reversible) sterilization prior to getting any benefits other than unemployment. Plus a lifetime max payout. Get at the root of the problem - stop making more of them.

He was getting up there in age, and handed the business over to his son, who was getting up at noon, showing up late, and eventually just disappeared which a bunch of different people's money, and owed the suppliers huge money. His son continued the business but spent a lot of the fortune running for office. Had to sell off a lot of the real-estate.
The grandson got into partying and drugs. Wild women and wild cars. The fortune is all but gone now.

Re the urinal discussion.
Cleaned and inspected many a head in my day. From experience, urinals have a chemical reaction where salt water and stagnant urine form a rapidly growing calcium like deposit, usually in the drain line going away from the urinal to the CHT system.
Hydroblasting of ships CHT systems every two years or so ran into the millions of dollars fleetwide.
PMS was developed that required daily inspection of urinals for flow reduction.
Thousands of dollars were expended developing citric acid based powder packets, and pisser breath mints to reduce the formation of these deposits.
Switching to the multi-million dollar vacuum CHT and flush system did reduce some of the formation, at huge expense.
Shitters, due to greater water flow, do not suffer the problem to anywhere near the same extent.

Oh, the campaign I was working on (recent past tense) has run up against some fundamental limits. Mainly candidate- centric, but some other ones. I left the campaign, not entirely on my own terms, but he's still got a shot and I still think e would make the best congressman.

CBD, it could have been just for the meat. I'm not a huge lobster fan but if I had seen prices of $6 a pound I probably would have brought home a few crates!
For what it's worth, the signs also advertised crabs, clams and mussels "at market price". I guess you had to stop in to find out what that price was.

Maybe the navy needs to invest in Chlorox tablets...you put them in the tank, they last about a month, probably less with a lot of people flushing and they not only keep things sparkling clean but they appear to even breakdown feminine products that idiot visitors throw in the bowl.

I was unwinding and watching a Nazi Occult documentary on the Military Channel. During the breaks, they were advertising that they would be showing the on-air fellatio of Brian Williams about the Greatest Act of Heroism EverAccomplished By a President. Guys, I'm concerned about the military--I checked out the Air Force Slimes during my UTA this weekendand saw the headline that the military vote could swing the election. There should be no question about the military vote (except for the blacks). I used to think that there were like-minded men who cared about the Republic in the ranks, who would engage in an overthrow of the government before allowing it to be led by a tyrant. I would think there would be no question in their minds about the way to proceed...I fearthe transition we worried about in the 1990s is complete.
If Romney shouldwin, he should conduct a Stalinesque blood purge of theflag ranks.

I enjoy the occassional strikes the union workers will stage at my place of employment every so often.
The parking is great. And the home-made signs, though few in number, are ironic-comedy-gold. Which is probably why the union usually forces everyone to use the pre-printed (union labor, natch) signs.
I am only sad that I do not have any production prior-experience to offer as a temporary worker. If I get called-in to fill a job from the strike, I'll probably get something in Sanitation. Which I would still do proudly, I will say.
I'd hate to be the one to break it to the union guys, but every time the strike, they only galvanize the rest of us as anti-union.

I'm sure they would love to use something as easy and effective as that. Care to be the first to tell all the tree-huggers that the entire Navy fleet now flushes Clorox back into the oceans every time someone in the crew takes a leak?
The reason they blow tons of money into researching "citric acid powders" isn't because they never heard of Clorox. It's because whatever they ultimately use needs to be completely inert from a biological standpoint within a reasonable period of time, or they wind up with a massive PR nightmare.
I mean, they are currently getting hated on for "deafening the poor whales" with sonar, fur fuck's sake...
