Someone Has To Post It...Drudge: Condi Rice Leading Choice To Be Mitt's VP
Either Team Romney wants to change the subject from false Bain attacks to false VP picks or Drudge is trolling for hits (they aren't mutually exclusive in reality) so here's the "hot" rumor.
Here's why there's ZERO chance of this happening. -Rice is "mildly pro-choice". Is that like being "a little pregnant"? Do you really think Mitt wants to reopen the discussion about his views on abortion? -She spent 8 years as one of George W. Bush's closest foreign policy advisers. Does anyone really believe that Romney wants to rehash the political fights over Iraq right about now? -She has ZERO elected political experience. This whole rumor about Condi Rice got started by Bill Kristol.
He was on Hannity a couple of nights ago....and admitted it.
Hannity pointed out, that he, Kristol, had been the one who first talked about Sarah Palin for VP....and that turned out to be true.
But Kristol said...."Yeah, but this is different."....and said that he was just thinking out loud.

A lightning-rod VP pick puts all the focus on horserace campaign BS, which the MSM will cover incessantly, diluting the central message of the Romney campaign by drawing attention away from the tottering economy and failed imperial president.
Boring and competent 2012! At this point, I think Portman is the best option strategically.

able to speak from personal experience about the importance of the federal government just
doing its job and keeping out of the everyday affairs of states and
citizens.
She'd shore up Romney's perceived weakness on illegal immigration, too.
I think she'd get the TEA Party fired up, too, with her experiences in office fighting DC.

Since both AZ and NC are easy pickups for Romney, either pick would be seen as just cynically checking the "woman" box. Brewer has had a bit of national exposure due to the immigration fight, but she still doesn't bring much to the table unless the goal is getting some ovaries into the mix. Haley brings even less. Certainly she's good looking, has a great story, and went hard after the NLRB over Boeing, but that's not enough. In addition, we would have to relive Will Folks, the MSM would brand her a race traitor for abandoning her Sikh heritage in favor of Christianity, and who knows what else.

The debate against Joe is a foregone conclusion, and it won't be covered extensively because of that. There's no way the MSM lets that move the needle, so why consider it? I still contend that Rubio is not ready yet, but has huge upside. I look at him like a five-tool player that recently made it to AAA - he's not ready for the majors, but with some time and experience has the potential to be an all-star down the road. His immigration position needs to "evolve", as they say, for one.

If she doesn't stir your loins, there's Jan Brewer, Martinez of New Mexico for the woman-and-Hispanic double play, Mary Fallin of Oklahoma, and Nikki Haley (who would undoubtedly get the Palin treatment).
Martinez is certainly a strong contender if you think about it. There's the tempting Hispanic factor. She's on record as saying she's not interested, but we all know that can mean "take me now, big boy."

Condi would NOT be a good "choice" running matefor Mitt, if it is made in the hopes of swaying some of the AA vote. Won't happen. My pipeline over the years in the Motor City has broadcast a continuous negative commentary concerning Condi. She was too tied into G.Dub and "could not relate" to the average AA. Some even used the word "betrayed".

Romney is about fixing the fiscal situation. Ryan is all about reforming our entitlements, and he is very articulate and specific about it. As VP he is the mouthpiece of the President. While Biden may have totally fucked up what it means to be a VP, do not underestimate what Ryan could do to explain to people what is on the line.

The Vice Presidency as an office is independent of the Presidency. He is elected on a separate ticket, unlike - say - the Secretary of State. So in theory a VP can propose significant stuff and not worry about being fired.
Anyway, as for significant proposals, how about John Tyler's proposal - "Harrison's dead; and I'm the President now, bitchez". That's pretty significant to me.

Point 2.) John Sununu [former Governor of NH and former White House Chief of Staff] just did another Leftist TV Talking Head Takedown®: Juan Williams.
To wit: "Does this President from Chicago...Rezko...Blagojevich...etc...really want to start using the term 'felon?" And he pretty much shut Juan up from there: that's a rarity.
He also called the Prezit "Incompetent" and that made Preznit Enabler Jaun's face fall. He clearly was outclassed and embarrassed on national TV. And for once, Ham-fisted Hannity pretty much stayed out of the way except for the commercial breaks and pushing some limits on talking over each other. The TV dishwasher retiree is best when he stays out of the way (and silent).

Just watched John Bolton on Greta and can't make up my mind whether he would be better as a VP or Secretary of State. When people talk about gravitas he should be the one they use as an example.

Her abortion view is a game breaker. Period.
Frankly, she was not a good secretary of state. She pushed the Israelis to forcibly evacuate Gush Katif. What they got for their trouble was a Hamas-run Gaza strip, 10,000s of rockets fired at their southern cities, dozens dead and hundreds wounded. I don't want her near Israel. Frankly, a lot of blacks see it as a South Africa apartheid rehash which is of course horseshit but that's how they feel. She has stated as much.
She argued against the surge in Iraq but had no solution of her own to the point that Bush was extremely frustrated with her. Cheney and Bush came up with the surge.
Call me a cynic but unless somebody is a reliable conservative I DO NOT trust them to break ties in the Senate. The VP doesn't have to vote the way the president wants. Think of it as electing a alternate Senator. She would be bounced out of a Republican primary in most states.

The #1 qualification for VP is supposed to be qualified to be POTUS. He's undoubtedly the most qualified anywhere but I'd expect that to start reading the "Real Shit Status" report everyday would blow out his pacemaker in a week

Why can't people just admit there's a racial angle to this election? People are looking for an excuse not to vote for Obama, as Ace put it awhile back. A minority on the ticket makes them feel less guilty for voting against the first black Pres.
