Romney Money Bomb: $2.8 Million $3.2 Million

And climbing.

If you haven't yet, you know what to do...

Oh, and we need the Senate too:

VA-SENATE DONATE
OH-SENATE DONATE
FL-SENATE DONATE
ND-SENATE DONATE
MT-SENATE DONATE
NM-SENATE DONATE

MO, WI go to whomever you wish.

Nebraska is going to Deb. We need 4 more (as of right now, i see ND, MT, MO-->R as well but all are very close (well, maybe not Missouri); WI if a particular candidate wins. But why stop there?

It's difficult but not impossible. To offset loosing Maine we need to keep the other seats (Brown and Heller being the most vulnerable), and pick up 14 others from state like: FL, VA, WV, PA, OH, MI, WI, MO, NE, ND, NM, MT, NJ, CT, and HI.

Probably not going to happen, but if we fight those races tooth and nail, then we can take advantage if the dominoes start falling our way.

We have the drive, the experience from '10, and the organization to make this happen.

Wrong. $10 million from mega-rich donors who are unrestrained by donation limits (because they're giving their dough to the Super-PAC and not to the Romney campaign) is one thing.

$3.2 million from the small-dollar contributions of thousands upon thousands upon thousands of small donors is another thing entirely. It's not even about the money (never forget: Mitt's got a metric fuckton, if it ever comes to that) so much as it is about the grassroots enthusiasm it reflects. Most of the people donating in this moneybomb today ain't maxing out the way my dad I did. They're chipping in $10, $20, maybe $100. The fact that they can get to $3.2 MILLION FUCKING DOLLARS on the basis of small-bore donations like that, from people who haven't already maxed out, is significant fucking news.

There is a small charge to the campaign for each donation if they are using online processing. Making many small donations isn't as valuable as fewer larger ones.

Sing it, sister.

I know I've been a bit hectoring in the comments today (which, to be fair, is kind of how I am always at all times over the last 10 years here), but this is really the message I've been trying to convey. Don't give in to despair. Mope for a bit and feel bad it you want. In fact, get authentically PISSED OFF if you feel it -- as The Clash once said (spot the lyric reference!) "anger can be power, let fury have the hour!" -- but don't act as if the game is over and the race has been run and decided.

It hasn't.

It's only really just beginning, in fact. And this may well give us the shot in the arm we've needed to get over the hump.

Maybe it's just all this high-grade ecstasy I've been popping today, I dunno, but I actually feel MORE optimistic about November tonight that I have in quite a long time...and I was already feeling cautiously optimistic.

185 @114

IMHO it's time to start measuring our own intestinal fortitude and belief in the goodness, and yes, judgement, of Our Lord. It's time for civil disobedience. Other than that, line up a good bankruptcy lawyer if you are a person of faith.
Look folks, no chance this gets repealed. This government is that corrupt and cowardly - blue dogs? Ben Nelson? This is even bigger than that fight.
There has already been so much infrastructure and money devoted to this - just you wait, even Ace will be saying in a matter on months that it's just too complicated to repeal.
Let's not talk about the trillions of dollars of debt that swamps even the entire world's GDP, which is the coffin we all lay in.
I know, I know. I don't mean to bring despair. This decision was my only hope of a glimmer of survival. And it's gone. I felt physically sick when i heard the decision, i feel like i did on 9/11. I don't know what kind of "pressure" (or physical threat) went into this decision, I choose to believe that he was intimidated, given that i believe Obama has a body count almost as large as the Clintons, I'd rather that than the idea of Roberts being as disgusting as the rest of those in charge in DC, but what's done is done.
I hope to see the USCCB and other people of faith hang tight together, be willing to continue business as usual even while risking arrest or worse. Um....well....a gal can hope. Circle your wagons and hug your kids tight.

She wouldn't have liked my answers, anyway). The doctor was scowling but giving her politically-correct answers. Later on, back in the same waiting room alongside the same woman, Obama came out for his football spike. It was all that I could do not to throw a chair through the TV, as this woman started to nod and murmur "amen" at the JEF's lies. I eventually stomped over to the counter, checked out, and went to the office to stew.

Like many of you guys, I've never given money to a politician before, but I threw $10 at Mitt for starters. Not much but it made me feel a little better. Anyone who says that he would be no better than Obama, well, I say let's find out. Because he could certainly be no worse.

A major problem in New York is that Republicans don't even get the chance to fight, to get known to the general public. New York is never going to get better if we don't even try anymore.

The USCCB response was depressing. They still are convinced somehow the HHS mandate will get repealed by SCOTUS or Obama and then all is well.
They are clueless to the fact that the Democrats see this stuff as preventative healthcare measures for the poor, minorities, and immigrants (both legal and illegal). Thankfully at least some of the Bishops have been pointing out that this attachment to the Federal Government is destroying Catholic Social Services in this country, but there are not enough of them at this point.

Figuring the average donation is $50.00, 64,000 voters signed up for Romney ... 128,000 if most of them are married, and can sway relatives.

262 Today totally sucked, until I read this---that there may be hope to take the $$bite out of ObamaTax: (Well, it's a start, right?)

Mitt Romney just now called for immediate entire repeal of Obamacare.
Even with a GOP House, GOP Senate, and GOP President, that will be
hard, because Dems can and will filibuster a bill, and a 60-vote GOP
majority is not in the cards any time soon.

But repealing the individual mandate takes only 51 votes (50, if a
Republican is the vice president). You see, Senators can’t filibuster a
bill passed under “budget reconciliation.”Since Chief Justice John
Roberts ruled today that Obama’s individual mandate is a tax,
Republicans, it seems to me, could simply lower the tax for not having
health insurance down to $0.00, as a matter of budget reconciliation.

Since it’s a tax and not a mandate, there can’t be any penalty for
not having health insurance above and beyond the tax. So, voila! No more
mandate!

Well, Meatheads!

I hate to interrupt your celebration of the ObamaCare victory today but I thought that you might want to know that now that the individual mandate is a tax , YOU...

(not your employer or those rich fat cats)

Take it out of your tax return
Levy a fine against you
Seize your bank account or any other assets you may have

But, hey! You won so party on Dudes!" ~@Beeshabomb2011

Yep there's a lot of that going around.

The way things are going you could even end up giving money to the GOP to spend as they wish.

272 CAC, I donated in appreciation of you and John E for all your hard work and to let you know how much I appreciate everything you've been doing. I look forward to all the maps....

I also gave to the Turk guy....I love a person who doesn't give up.

273 It's OK DiT. It hurts less with each donation.

274 I'll kick in for $50 on pay day. Also, don't forget to save some for local needs for federal offices. I know that the past 2 campaigns haven't bothered to send signs, push materials, etc. to Texas (at least our part) because we were 'safe'. Local county party had to foot the bill plus whatever they could get in the way of donations. Consider this fall spending $100 or so to buy signs, push cards, door hangers, bumper stickers, wires, or stakes to get visibility up in your area.

280 I really want to know Romney's replacement plan. If he plans to replace ACA with, say.... liberty and a free f'n market, I'm on board. Anything else, color me unexcited.

Posted by: Tonic Dog at June 28, 2012 11:30 PM (X/+QT)

281 Tonic,
Go to hus website under the healthcare part of issues section. It is very short, but iirc he talks about feds role being to even the markets ( something like that) which I took to mean being able to buy across state lines. In terms of the rest, he says its up to the states.
I think Mitt is mire reliable on Obamacare than he is on immigration at this stage of the game. But he is better than Obama on both issues.

Posted by: packsoldier at June 28, 2012 11:41 PM (oQM5T)

285 Y-not,
Thanks, I read that after my post.

My understanding about the state-lines issue is that this is a state decision. There's no federal law that says companies can't cross lines. It's the states that have different coverage rules, etc.

Posted by: Tonic Dog at June 29, 2012 12:04 AM (X/+QT)

286 I'm listening to Batchelor and thinking about the day. Could it be possible that Roberts surprised even the other justices? Could it be possible that, at the last minute, Kagan or sotomayor persuaded him to do this?

We'll never know, but maybe scalia had an inkling of this and that's why his comments on the AZ law were so devastating.

Posted by: starry at June 29, 2012 12:27 AM (oZfic)

287 I don't think it was a surprise to the other justices. Ginsburg was out squawking and her comments make a lot more sense now. "Those who know don't talk, etc...." Conventional wisdom was that the mandate was a goner.

288 So how much did Obama raise off his fundraising appeals today?

"Obama's campaign would not reveal their fund-raising totals from Thursday when asked."

Well Ok then!

289 Ron Paul's record moneybomb was $7M in less than a day. Not sure if Romney will break that.

It tells us less about Ron Paul than it does Romney's appeal among Republicans on this day of all days.

Ron Paul supporters follow him like a cult. That is why they give everything they have to their man-god.

290 My personal wet dream is to see the electoral college map turning red from sea to shining sea on Election Night, and watching Matthews, Maddow and "Cenk" showing each other how to tie hangman knots.

Even better: seeing them all dangling there, with Chrissy having "something" not-so-tingly dripping down his leg.

Also, seeing Maddow dangling upside down, revealing a stunted vestigial pair bulking up her granny panties.

Sweet....

291 Several of my friends today, some libs/dems said they know they won't be staying in the US now. A lot of them said they might go to Singapore. Most are BO groupies from the last election. They've been resisting jobs out of the US. It's interesting, they got what they wanted and now that they have it, they are thinking they have to leave to survive? Makes no sense, what am I missing?

296 Let the liberals have their party today, I think the Supreme Court signed their death sentences in November with that ruling. ObamaCare is now the central issue in the election, and the mandate tax is the central issue of that issue.

Roberts didn't do what I wished he did, but he gave Romney and co a pretty powerful weapon by forcing the libs to accept that it was a tax. Properly used it should be a tremendous millstone around Obama's neck.

The Romney money bomb is a spontaneous, organic event... Laup Nor's were planned, and were actually a total over a few days if recall (much like a Jerry Lewis telethon was actually an entire years worth of donations)
