Washington Post Asks The Important Question: In a Way, Isn't Romney Sort of Responsible for a Massacre By Mormons 160 Years Ago?

The Washington Post wants to know if voters will hold it against Romney that Mormons massacred Arkansans in something they've decided to start calling "America's first 9/11."

That's funny. Because I have a question for the Washington Post to explore. Given that Obama's application for school in Indonesia stated his religion as "Islam," do they care to explore whether voters will hold it against Obama that his one-time coreligionists were responsible for what I guess we're now calling "America's Second 9/11," which is actually its first one? You know, the real 9/11?

Why would this be unimportant to explore?

Hell, why stop at America's Second-slash-Actual 9/11?

Have people gotten over the Barbary Pirates yet? Thomas Jefferson was pretty angry about their kidnapping/enslaving.

I'm going to start calling that "America's Real First 9/11 Even Though It's Not 9/11."

278 Saw an ad from O re Romney and GST where it was said that Bain made millions. I also heard that Bain was involved with GST for 8 years and put up $100 million to buy the company. Even if evil Mitt was still at Bain when they liquidated GST, my back of the envelope says $100 million at (a modest) 2% for 8 years is on the order of 16 million dollars return on investment. Sure enough Bain may thus have made millions on the deal but kept the company running (and paid workers) for another 8 years.

Of course, Bain should have run that original 100 mill into the ground paying for the union pensions and benefits, and looting their own investors, but that's why private capitol is evil.

I have always hung out with brothers and their friends, or the brothers of my girlfriends on surrounding farms. Therefore men do not faze me and I was a natural mother for sons (who I also bullied until they were bigger than me when it was needed).But if you met me I was the soft magnolia petal of budding Southern womanhood. So you would not be able to pick me out in a bully line-up.

Therefore, I support Mitt Romney, bully-pants, for more reasons than he is our nominee to defeat SCOAMF. The boy probably needed a haircut. Keeping in mind, as well, that Rick Perry used to "prank" guys by putting firecrackers in toilets. I loved that as well, as I love a good explosive prank and bathroom humor.

People are just too sensitive these days for their own good. I think this all started with giving everyone trophies for soccer games instead of the good players. Everyone wins! Everyone is special! Everyone is sensitive to loss or pranks or teasing. And it bores me to death.

Oh, honey, I did not date the nerds in high school. Not for lack of their trying. My Dad had nicknames for them all. I can go to high school reunions as the only girl who never let those dweebs even think about second base (correction, they thought about it but did not get far). College and older men were a different story, and even then I was very, very selective. I would simply die if I had to go to reunions like some girls who gave it their all in high school. Brigham Young fell ill in the Wasatch Mountains and grandfather forged ahead and a few days later built the first homestead fire(signal fire) in the Utah valley - where the cornerstone of the Mormon Tabernacle was placed. Mountain Meadow is a stain on Mormon history and what happened should never be trivialized.

The full story should be told and the WAPO cherry picked historical elements to cast Mittens in an unfavorable light.

Mormons were still being persecuted, MMM happened during a time when detachments of the federal army were being used to beat down Mormon petulance. The beatdowns included but were not limited to intimidation, destroying crops, burning outposts and paying indian proxies to attack Mormon outposts.

Mormons were literally in the wilderness and believed divine provenance had led them to Utah.
