Well head over to the Baby Name Wizard and find out. It gives you the popularity of baby names by year and by region.
For instance here's 'Brandon' - clearly a super trendy name in the 80's and 90's.
Currently the top names for girls are Isabella, Sophia, Emma, Olivia, and Ava; and for boys it's Jacob, Ethan, Michael, Jayden, and William.
And it's also interesting to find out that certain names like 'Jonah' really only appear in just 3 or 4 states. So go and find out just how faddish/creative your parents were when they came up with your name.
Elizabeth Warren: You're Only as Rich as Your Heart Is
Warren first got national exposure for her speech on how the rich need to give their fair share back and help the 99%. You know evil rich 1%ers like Scott Brown!!! - oh wait...
Last Friday, she released four years of tax returns. Over those four years, Warren and her husband, another Harvard Law prof, averaged $300,000 more than Sen. Brown and his spouse, a TV anchor. In 2009, the Warrens made $981,000 vs. the Browns' $249,000.Even the Globe had to admit that Warren was "in the top 1 percent of earners" - ironic, considering her bragging that she provided the "intellectual foundations" of Occupy Wall Street.
As recently as January, Warren was still crying poor, saying on MSNBC: "I realize there are some wealthy individuals - I'm not one of them - but some wealthy individuals who have a lot of stock portfolios."
No, she has mutual-fund portfolios. Her financial disclosures put her worth between $4.6 and $14.5 million.
Well, being middle class is "not about a number," she told one reporter. "It's about a place in your heart."
It must be some kind of advanced Cherokee spiritual technique that lets her heart commune with the common folk despite pulling in almost a $1 million a year.

I also think it's interesting to compare and contrast Obama with Romney at approximately the same age. They were almost opposites. Obama was still searching for a father and an identity; Romney had an unusually strong dose of both. Obama was drifting; Romney was a family man who already was married with children and focused on his future (Romney married at 22 and became a father at 23). Obama smoked and drank, and more; Romney was a teetotaler and non-smoker. And yet they both were the products of similar educations: private prep schools and Harvard Law (and in Romney's case, Harvard Business as well).
Soy Harvest Collapse = Interesting Times Ahead
This year's soybean harvest in Latin America has been severely hurt by La Niña caused droughts. And given how much of the world's population relies on soybeans for food and animal feed, that means hunger and possible famines around the globe.
The US Department of Agriculture believes that soybean production is headed for its biggest global drop ever - or at least since 1965 which is when the US started tracking global soybean production. Prices are now higher than they have been in four years, and could reach record levels later in the year.This is particularly bad news in China, where food inflation already worries a government facing social unrest and economic instability. Soybeans generally, and Latin American soybeans in particular, play a major role in the Chinese diet.
But it also suggests trouble across the Middle East and southern Europe, where economic unrest has shaken governments from Portugal to Pakistan.
As we saw in Egypt hungry unhappy people topple governments.
This is an essay by Danish psychologist Nicolai Sennels who found after studying Muslim and non-Muslim youths at a Copenhagen youth prison that there are some big differences in psychology and world view. Now much of this may not be surprising but it is interesting to see it all laid out by psychologist with first-hand knowledge of both populations.
A third psychological difference concerns the so-called "locus of control". Locus of control is a psychological term that describes whether people experience their lives as controlled mainly by inner or by outer factors. In Western societies we are told that we ourselves are the main ones responsible for our lives. The way we think, speak and act - our way of handling our emotions, our views, ways of communication, our reactions, etc. - determines whether we manage to create a life with a majority of happy and satisfying moments or not.
Asking a Muslim to take a look at his own inner and outer reactions in order to find the reasons for his problems is simply not a relevant question for them. Muslim clients mainly see the sources for their suffering as outer factors: An unfair society and non-Islamic authorities are the general scapegoats. ...The same was almost always the case concerning the crimes they had been charged with: It was the victim's own fault - he or she had "provoked" or tempted them beyond their means. My Muslim clients thus felt "forced" to attack the victim by the victim him or herself, or by outer religious or cultural pressure and expectations.
Culture matters. And Islam brings its own culture along with its beliefs.
I was taught this technique in school, but I never fully grasped it until I watched this video. As we've shown before, it's actually a very simple technique of wrapping one way and then alternating. It's something you really have to see to grasp. Putting it into words would just make it confusing. But what this video offers beyond our original is a faster, second alternating method.

My first grandson was born last Monday. Extremely happy since my daughter waited until I was at least 48 before she had him. But I'm wondering, they named him Leo. I'm curious, is Leo on the new name trends list? Not something I would have picked off hand. But hey, he's my first grandson and I'm happy as fuck. Even if his name is Leo.

I read a book a while back by a woman who was from Syria originally. She was born into a Muslim family (obviously?) but is an atheist now, I think. I believe it was called "A God Who Hates" - fascinating. We were never taught anything about Islam and I thought this was a pretty good explanation of why many of them end up like your descripton.

My husband and I have four children. I feel compelled to add that he is the father of all of them. My mother is "Black Irish" from Ireland and whenver we talked names she would give us the gaelic equivalent of the name.
My husband would have none of that and said if we had a son he would be named "Hal" or "Elvis" and she couldn't give us a gaelic version.
Thankfully we never got to that point, having all girls ...
And yes my husband has running water, heat and cable tvin his shed for certain weeks of the month.

Having a great night. We stopped at the pet store on the way home and I went a little crazy. I bought a Kong for Rooster so he'd have something to chew. I brought it home and filled it. He sniffed at it a few times, pushed it around with his nose once or twice. Then he grabbed the old mountain dew bottle he's been chewing on and jumped in Stuck's lap. He hasn't touched the Kong since. He is so Stuck's dog!

I'll second you on that one...I love dad way more today than I ever did as a kid, and appreciate how he and mom raised me now that I'm a full-on adult. After seeing my grandfather,my father'sfather, pass in 2010, I've been granted a clearer appreciation for how important our parents are. In our current situation nationally, having two loving parents your entire life is becoming more and more a bonus, and less and less standard practice. I consider myself a very lucky man on that account.

My mom is coming to visit this weekend, I have a special weekend planned in honor of Mother's Day. She'll be put to work painting my house, replacing my broken garbage disposal and downstairs toilet, and raking out the beds in front and back of the house. Because she deserves a special weekend like that!
OK actually her husband and I will do all the work, Mom will supervise, plant flowers and enjoy the dinners I make for them.

Okay, this is a good example of tastey and delicious death metal. You can really feel the evil emanate from it. Thick, sludgy riffs over powerful blast beats. But this song is an exception on this album, not the rule.

I just love him so much. He is the only man I have ever met that makes things like shopping for groceries fun! The thing that amazes me the most is how he can be so kind and fair even towards people who really don't deserve it. I've never met anyone with that kind of strength of character or will. I wasn't very fortunate in the mother department. I was very blessed in the little sister department. I guess mom was good for an object lesson in what not to do with your life. Thanks to Sissy I couldn't really get myself into trouble or do stupid things. If I did no one would have been around to look after her. So things worked out well. I wonder sometimes what it would have been like in a more normal household. But I can't complain. Many kids had it a lot worse.

It was this bizarre scheme where, if he were still alive, I was to be mislead into believing he'd ripped me off somehow from an inheritance and the spammer could fix everything for me if I just paid his fee. In advance.
I tracked it to a Russian ISP notorious for hosting such things. If it came from anywhere on this continent it would have been road trip time.

Life is good. I have a bit of a cold but I am hoping Zicam will knock it out. Financially things have been a bit lean but managable. I am having one problem of late which I will have to deal with. I have been helping a guy out. He is an ex-con. This is a years long story but the guy lost his job. Went on unemployment and has given up. Now he is turning into a bit of a dick. I have been trying to teach him things important in the pen don't mean shit out here. Well he is regressing and I am going to have to bounce him out of living in one of my warehouses. Damn shame.

I agree, though she does okay with some of the more blatant sex moves. She certainly looks like a lot of fun in bed, but you can find girls that good looking in any warm beach community.

I've heard the paucity of naturalness is really messing up with the production of the "Magic City" series. In their thoroughness in trying to portray late 50s Miami, the producers insist that noone shown on screen has plastic surgery, and that they need to be appropriately proportioned -- i.e. with some meat on their bones. They have to troll the streets trying to find enough for extras and such. They were hoping to rely on burlesque shows somewhat for the body pool but the women were too tatted up for the most part to make it worth their while in coverup and retouching. Lots of bikinis being worn, and just as many merkins needed.

Eh. Reminds me of one of the rules I have in my book "Computer Consulting for Elder Gods": "Never let accountants choose your accounting package."
See, the thing is, your accounting department will make anything work. Their leaders have CPAs, meaning that they've been in public accounting, where you go out to a different client every other week and extract info from whatever POS legacy system they have -- and two weeks later, it's another one. They'll deal.
But if your Sales team isn't involved, then Every Little Thing about the system is a total travesty that you'll hear about six times a day, and they won't stop bellyaching until the accounting department allocates a full-time headcount to wiping each Salesman's ass each time after they're done -- and re-entering all their data. Same with Purchasing, Payroll, and Production.
So let them pick it. Then you can easily garner IT resources because "those Sales guys didn't choose a good accounting system."
Arhooley could probably do a beautiful, effective job with WordStar, and it would cost an additional 1/10 of 1% of effort to deal with it. Compared to the raw talent involved, the choice of tools is almost irrelevant. Embarrassing, but not really in scope.

So how much effort is worth the pleasure of screaming at the scifi channel "I can write better dreck than that AND here it is!!!" compared to the effort of bring peace to Sudan, smuggling guns to Christians - many of whom wouldn't use them anyway, providing people with clean drinking water, et cetera?

Durnit! The Farscape finale was. The. SHIT!
Loved it. Loved it loved it loved it!
That was the perfect endcap to this truly wonderful sci-fantasy series. FanTASTIC!
But I just missed Adriane so I can't nerd out with her over the sheer awesomeness of it all.
But honestly I can't recommend this series enough. Not nearly enough. It's usually pretty cheap on Amazon. Between $50 to $60 bucks for the complete series box set on standard DVD. Blu-ray seems to be about $20 to $30 bucks more than that. Add in the finale, The Peacekeeper Wars, for another $10 bucks but only on standard DVD.
Highest possible recommendation. Great characters, great stories, great series.

Headline: EU PLot To Scrap Britain.
It's a little over the top. Britain wouldn't be scrapped but the EU would expand entirely at the expense of its constuent parts. A unified executive branch would go a long ways towards that goal.
After reading a couple of comments, some people don't seem to understand Britain would be relegated to a mere "administrative unit" of a larger European super-state. It's the same as losing their independence. Yeah, there might be a Province of Britain but it would exist at the pleasure of more powerful forces. And the way good old socialist Europe operates the smaller units of government and society, the province, the county, the city, even the individual, exist at the blessings of the central government and corrupt aristocratic elite. If Britain is subsumed into a unified Europe it will never, NEVER, be recovered.
Britain needs to get the hell out of the EU and fast.
