Spinning Fast and Furious: DOJ Refers Reporter To Media Matters

I guess the wholesale ownership of the MFM by the Obama administration isn't enough to protect them on Fast & Furious, what with that pesky Sharyl Attkisson from CBS nosing around in the story and all.

No, this scandal has such potential for damaging The Once that it can only be handled by another division of Soros, Inc.:

Katie Dixon, a 'confidential assistant' in the Office of Public Affairs at the Department of Justice, reportedly sent an email to Washington Free Beacon writer C.J. Ciaramella that she had been directed to send him a link to Media Matters for America, which holds weekly "strategy calls" with the White House, in response to an inquiry regarding the Operation Fast and Furious scandal.

Read the whole thing over at Breitbart's. And here's C.J. Ciaramella's related WFB article. It explores an allegation contained in Katie Pavlich's new book on Fast and Furious that there was a third F&F gun involved in the murder of Border Patrol agent Brian Terry and that DOJ is covering its existence up.

Two weapons connected to Fast and Furious were discovered at the murder scene of U.S. Border Patrol agent Brian Terry, who was gunned down in the Southern Arizona desert in 2010 by five criminals armed with AK-47s.

However, Pavlich asserts there was a third gun. The book details three separate pieces of evidence that point to a third weapon being recovered and then covered up by the FBI and the Justice Department.

I'm not sure how serving as a public relations arm of the Obama administration comports with MMFA's tax-exempt status, but I bet the Treasury Department will get right on that.

16 "I'm not sure how serving as a public relations arm of the Obama

When one party in a country's political system is willing to completely ignore the laws of the country, it's time to split that country off into at least two separate countries.

The way the Left treats the law of the land is similar to someone who uses inside information to trade in the financial markets. Both are subversive of the need for fair competition in their respective marketplaces. Of course the Left knows they can't win a fair competition, hence the need to double down on subverting the law. For them, subverting the law will always be their go-to strategy.

Let the Left play each other for suckers in their own country, rather than playing the rest of us for suckers by disobeying the laws we nominally share with them.

Yeah, there are short-term remedies like voting them out of office, but they will still be there waiting for yet another chance to convince the low-information voters to give them an opportunity to exercise power and subvert the law some more. And you know they will eventually get those opportunities.

I know, it's too impractical a suggestion. Doesn't mean it's wrong, though, just not easy.

"If there was no high level conspiracy, why is the DOJ stonewalling and trying to do a cover up?"

This administration will throw anyone under the bus. Why would they stonewall if this was the work of misguided underlings?

Here is part of their problem: there is a Lanny Breuer (Assistant Attorney General) email on record where he says that he thinks that gun walking is a terrific idea. Show of hands everyone who thinks Breuer is the kind of stand up guy who is going to fall on his sword for Teh Won.

Our kids study "yellow journalism" and other epochs like the penny press. Congratulations to all of you who are aware we're in another tremendously significant epoch: the manufactured media. Imagine how generations a century from now will look back and ask how the American people were so easily led by a loosely coordinated but extremely willing media that was determined to support progressive r-evolution. Dead bodies, massive financial crimes, corruption and payola at the highest levels of government all were less important than seeing the progressive equivalent to Lenin's Second Revolution come true.

51 What the Fed normally does is lend money to banks so that they can make loans. The banks make money on the "carry", the difference in interest between what they pay the Fed and what they earn from the borrower. Are businesses really having trouble financing expansion? Is that what is preventing the economy from booming? I don't think so.

They have been doing that since 2007 when the commies took over Congress. $600B more on top of the $300B they sent to Europe last week is just more "stimulus" for inflation.

The commies have always believed in tax and spend and this they think will "fix" the economy and finally prove the statement by FDR's commie adviser Loyd Hopkins, "we will spend and spend and spend and tax and tax and tax and that will keep us in office forever"

I'm not going to blame Team Romney too much, I think that's how this has evolved. Parties point out the lawlessness of previous administrations, and it helps them to toss the bums out, but once the bums are out, we get to do it "our" way.

I'm not saying the two are the same, but I'm sure there are a lot of lefties who remain convinced that Bush and Cheney and Rumsfeld and any number of others should have been put on trial for their "war crimes." But once Obama got in, the new Admin had no reason to pursue it.

The shame of it is, this current administration is so corrupt, I don't think this country will heal if it's not all laid out there, and it's not going to be.

Yeah, I know there are more countries out there like the kind the US Left would like to see here and I understand not wanting to give them even a square inch of this beautiful country and, yeah, I wish that those who share our political views in earlier generations had been more capable. But, I think it has to be said that, in some respects, the Communists have waged a successful imperialist expansion into some parts of the physical United States, primarily the urban centers, as well as an even more successful expansion into certain industries like media, academia, and the Federal bureaucracies under the guise of "progressivism" and perverted readings of the US Constitution. How far that expansion goes somewhat depends on the urgency with which its opponents treat it. My read is that those specific locations will never be taken back and will always serve as a base of operations for the Left (think of that picture of the Obama 2008 campaign office with the Che poster). So, splitting them off into a separate country would be a "de jure" recognition of the "de facto" status quo.

History tells us two things about Communism: it isn't sustainable and non-Communists want to get out of its way ASAP. That's why you give these assholes part of the country, so they can get around to the inevitable next stage after a Communist victory, which is, of course, killing each other. If the Van Jones/New Black Panther "faction" wants to commit genocide on the SWPL "faction" of the Democratic Party, which, if both factions couldn't put aside their differences to extract value from the US' non-Left population, a.k.a. the taxpayers, they would inevitably do, who am I to stand in their way? Let them live out their utopian fantasies of expropriating the expropriators, just under the banner of a completely separate sovereignty.

In my opinion (and obviously it is just that), without the threat of complete withdrawal of support for the notion that the US Federal government is a legitimate government and the dissolution of the federalist project, the non-Left will constantly be "on the back foot" against the Left.

And then dare us to call him on it.

This is their way of governing, and I hate it. No, I don't fault Romney for maintaining the status quo, but sooner or later this country will clean up its act, or it won't. And there aren't too many more chances we have to get it right.

121 WASHINGTON — Major delays, cost overruns and critical technological problems are plaguing a missile defense system designed to protect the United States and Europe from an Iranian attack, Pentagon advisers and government investigators say about one of President Obama’s top military programs.

The reports cast doubt on the shield, a politically sensitive issue at home and in relations with Russia. They say missile interceptors are running into production glitches, radars are underpowered and sensors cannot distinguish between warheads and other objects.

A report by the Defense Science Board, an advisory group to the Defense Department, came out late last year but received little notice. While it concludes there are “no fundamental roadblocks” to the system, it points out big problems without saying how they can be fixed.

Board members declined repeated requests for comment. Outside experts, including the Pentagon’s former chief weapons tester, Philip Coyle, say the issues raised in the report would require substantial and costly changes, if they can all be surmounted at all.

The second report, by Congress’ nonpartisan Government Accountability Office, was released Friday.

Some Republicans say the reports support their view that the program was designed hastily to ease the concerns of Russia, which had objected to previous missile defense plans by the Bush administration, with less regard to whether it would work. Ahead of this November’s election, Republicans are casting Obama as a weak leader, quick to capitulate to the demands of other nations.

127 I have observed how Willard is handling his campaign this time around. ....It is similar to how corporate takeovers are accomplished. ....He has had years to formulate his strategy.

In a corporate takeover....you don't alienate the people who are currently opperating the company. You go in gradually. You let them think that nothing drastic is going to happen. ....Then once the ink has dried on all the aquisition documents....you start handing out pinkslips.

In a hostile takeover.....it gets messy. You lose things. Things that could be valuable to you, once you are in control.

Even though I was an ardent Perry supporter. ....I know that we have to get our country back, with the candidate that we have ended up with. ....So, go get'em, Romney!

154 Good news.

Barky and Mooch are going to use Ft. Stewart, GA (home of the Third ID) for a campaign photo-op next Friday.

There was a memorial service there yesterday on Warrior's Walk for two young MPs who were murdered during the Koran burning "scandal."

I hate that jugeared idiot and his ugly wife with the heat of a thousand suns. Can't wait for him to be on a permanent golf outing in Indonesia, Hawaii or wherever. (Do they have golf courses in Kenya?)

157 144 127 - That's what I'm hoping, but I don't necessarily believe it.
As we all know, government doesn't operate like a business. More often than not, the "peaceful transition of power" results in a lot of problems getting papered over, rather than torn out and replaced.

The "big ship" metaphor is probably thebest one, with regard to government. ....You don't tear out large portions of it while it is at sea. And we are atnot only at sea....we are in rough sea.

While most of us conservatives are hungering for red meat.....and would like to seeRomneyripping off limbs and beating up people with them.....strategically, it's not a very prudent way to proceed.

Romney will have to look to Congress to get a lot of things accomplished. ....Until we replace more squishes there, he will have to work with what he will have to work with. ....He has let slip a few times, some remarks on the bloated state of our government payroll....remarks that he hasn't repeated, but that I took as a good indicator.

So there is that. Romney needs a solid conservative from the South. It would kill him to pick a moderate from the North and would not deliver anything.

I must say this due to my immense pride in my family. We have a long history of military service that encompasses each branch, dating back to before the civil war. It is simply something that is done, without a lot of fanfare.

All the males, plus a few females, serve unless there is a reason they cannot. They range from lifers to one and done, but we all wear a uniform.

And I will say this--I wore the uniform with PRIDE, yet when I see these young men and women serving today, it humbles me. It would be an immeasurable honor to wear it again with any of them.

I would prefer that we leave conservative congressmen in congress. We don't have enough of them as it is. What they need is either a conservative governor from a solid red State or a conservative "former" governor. If it is a solid red State there would be no problem getting another Republican elected in their place.

Nikki Haley would be a good pick except that the MFM would go crazy Palinizing her and it would stick, even with some "fair-weather" Republicans who should know better. So what he needs is a male version of Nikki Haley.

Then there's "Occupy _Fill in location here_".They haven't reached critical mass, they've just been enough of ansewerplug to get very many people, mostly small merchants, angry with them ... angry enough to vote, and try to get their customers to vote ... to vote against the incumbents who allow Occupy to wipe all over the place, and for any candidate that will bring out the plunger and solve the problem.

I expect leaks soon, leaksof communictions to various big city mayors and city councils asking them to let Occupy slide, to not properly shut down the event and arrest and charge the Occupiers. If a leak in one big city can be made to happen, the rest will follow.

Going okay - I have stumbled a bit recently, been having to work late several nights, so not getting to the gym as often as I like. My goal is to burn 3500 cal/week, since 3500 cal = 1 lb and it would be kinda nice to be able to burn an entire pound of fat just by exercise alone. I am not quite there yet but on some weeks I have crossed the 3000 calorie mark. I really need to work on more weightlifting though, I tend to avoid it because (as I mentioned in the game thread) I tend to avoid things I'm not good at, but I'm going to have to suck it up and just hit the weights.

I get a fair amount of crap from my friends who are Cardinal fans but nothing I can's handle. They have finally stopped the Brock for Brologia crap when I look at them and ask three questions:

1. Yea, what was worse, Dan Haren for Mark Mulder?
2. So, you supposed Neil Allen for Keith Hernandez was a good deal? and,
3. Pop quiz..........who did the Cardinals get for Steve Carlton.....cause I am pretty sure that guy isn't in the Hall of Fame.

Especially if they are from a state with a D-governor right now. .....But in West's case, wouldn't Rick Scott be able to appoint another R, to serve out West's term? .....Assuming he wins in his district this year.

I think that the 'demonizing' of Sarah Palin has been done largely to serve as a warning....to any other female who might be picked as a RepublicanVP running mate. ....Not that it should deter us, or 'her', if we have another one....but I think that's why they have continued to target Palin.

I have a great elliptical machine (Octane Q35), and use that almost every day. About four months ago I upped the resistance significantly, and have dropped about 10 pounds since then. No more time, just more work. I also started looking at the throwaway calories that I had been eating, and cut some of them out. Not much...probably about 100 cal/day. But over time that adds up.

I have also been eating a healthy dinner at least twice/week. For us that means fish and vegetables. As much as we want, and cooked carefully and well (I love food and won't eat crap).

I have found that vegetables cooked well are great! Grilled is my favorite, but I have a recipe for ratatouille that rocks. (If you want it I'll send it)

I love to eat and cook and will not sweat blowout meals. We are just being a bit more careful during the week, when meals tend to be more rushed anyway.

As many have pointed out....no matter who the VP pick is, they are going to have a big target on them. .....So why not pick the guy who is a seasoned fighter, who is not squeamish about tossing verbal grenades right back into their liberal foxholes.

314 Coulter really lost me with her snotty attitude during the primaries. As much as I bitched about how long and worthless the whole primary season was, it served to illustrate the lack of character of a few people who erroneously pretended to be on our side. To Hell with her; good luck conning people into buying your books.

315 Coulter "lost" me a long time ago.

316 I can't watch Coulter anymore. All I can focus on are all those weird things sliding up and down in his throat when he talks or swallows. Creepy.

317 They all get asked the "is there anything in your past or personal life that might be embarrassing to the candidate?" question. If John Edwards had answered honestly he would not have been the pick.

318 Smart? She gets her news from The Daily Show.....on Comedy
Central.....hosted by a standup comedian....who uses a stage
name.....who until recently used to make self-deprecating jokes about
TDS being fake news.

Smart?

There is a difference between smart and knowledgeable; many liberals are smart - what they lack is knowledge of anything outside of their cocoon. The main problem which most liberals have is that they can't even imagine anything which exists outside of their limited world view; the conservative viewpoint is an indecipherable and unobservable enigma to them.

319 She's not really smart, just pretend smart.

320 The only way there can be accountability here is if the major media decides to make it an issue. There is nowhere else to go when the Dept Justice itself is a big part of the problem.
