Gallup: President Obama on the Brink, Polls WORSE THAN CARTER

He is on the brink of losing, despite a small rebound.

If history and numbers mean anything, then Gallup has a sobering reminder to any on the left who think Obama is still the odds-on favorite:

The improvement in Obama's approval rating is likely tied to more positive economic news in recent months, especially concerning unemployment. Obama's approval rating reached as high as 50% in Gallup Daily tracking, for April 3-5, before settling back down into the mid- to high 40% range in recent days.

Although Obama's approval rating is improving, this is offset by the fact that it remains below the averages at the same point in time for presidents who were re-elected. All presidents since Eisenhower who were re-elected enjoyed average approval ratings above 50% during their 13th quarters in office.


Presidents have a small sliver of "I approve of the President's effort, but I want someone else" built into their approval ratings. So if Obama is at 45.9%, his solid vote share is stuck in the low forties. The closer the President approaches 50%, the less sleepless nights he will have, as the margin his opponent can snag drops.

President Obama has seen his numbers recover from the nadir of last Fall, but he is by no means a lock for re-election. He's in a statistical tie with Mitt Romney, who just emerged from a nasty primary and who still has a chunk of his party vote dragging their feet to fall behind him.

When polling firms are oversampling Democrats to pump polling results showing the President up 9, or even to show him up 3 or 4, you realize how small a base he actually has.

And how much of a real shot we actually have of kicking him out.

The real work begins on Jan 21st, 2013 in rolling back the juggernaut of government, which is infested to the core with Democratic hack, totalitarian control freaks. Freaks who will continue to run a shadow government and rule over us, unless very strong measures are taken to defang them. And defunding is the way to start. I think America's sympathy is a little deadened right now and some well placed layoff's of government workers, especially the 'non-essential' ones who number in the hundreds of thousands, would be welcomed with a hearty cheer by those of us who have watched them grow and expand while the rest of us suffered.

The ranks of the Welfare State Takers combined with the ranks of Grievance Identity Politics Constituents have finally (and quite suddenly) swollen to such a size that their math can only rarely be overcome by facts and commonsense. That is essentially where Europe has been for decades.
Unfortunately, we too are heading in that direction. And while it is possible that we are already there, the 2010 elections indicate that it is very unlikely. As said, we would have expected Michael Barone or someone with his skill set and sagacity to have warned that the demographic micro-data are beginning to point that we might currently be on the cusp of such permanent misfortune.

3) Sometime in the next several months the economy shows unambiguous signs of robust growth.
Not: the economic numbers will get a little better than they currently are. - That would just indicate in November that this stink-ass economic "recovery" is just a little better than it was back in April.
No one's buying those tickets.
Obama needs something like 4.3% of average GDP growth where unemployment falls to 7.6% or less before he can make a credible argument on the economy. – And even then, he wouldn't be a lock.

But all bets would be off.

After nearly four years of shit, would the American public believe that a few months of pretty good economic data clearly moving in the right direction is worth giving Obama a second term? They just might. – Apparently he’s likeable enough.

Even with the media cheerfully singing "Happy Days Are Here Again" based on unambiguously good economic numbers: at that late hour, the election could still go either way.

And remember that Obama has lots of other political liabilities slung around his neck. From scandals (Solyndra, Fast Furious, GSA parties, etc.) to the hugely unpopular Obamacare to the infuriating Deficit/Debt Crisis.

Now if in these last few months heading into November the economy were to suddenly go Great Guns with GDP cresting over 6% and unemployment dropping below 7%: then it would be fair to posit that Obama was a virtual lock. – Even with all his perniciously freedom-destroying policies in tow.
But a pretty good economy that is just starting to take shape a few months before the election might not cut it for Obama.He may have needed a really good economy yesterday.

Anyway, there is currently no reason to believe that the economy is about to become even pretty good. And barring a decent economy, scandal on the House of Romney, or a brand new undetectable shift in the demographic paradigm:

Unless things have changed since I was a rocket scientist, you can't do hypersonics in a wind tunnel. So that's what these things are -- wind tunnel runs, to see what the right airfoil works at those speeds.

Because they're not sure what's going to happen -- and because it's highly probable that the thing's going to be damaged by the trip anyway -- it's cheaper to leave the landing gear out for now.

The third however, the one who had him very upset, gave no outcome but apparently said the election scenario will follow the Bush/Gore situation and that we may not know who is president until january. No reason why an atheist can't justify opposing legal abortion. The Constitution is quite clear on the subject.

Allow me to quote the 14th Amendment.

All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

Now the important clause here is that no state shall deprive any "person" of life, liberty or property without due process of law. This is exactly what legal abortion is, the unborn person is deprived of life without due process.

The only question is, is an unborn baby a person? Easy to prove by any legal or scientific standard. Even from the moment of conception the unborn has it's own, specific dna. This shows scientifically that it is an individual and not "part of the mother's body".

No one with any training in biology, or indeed no one that has ever even read a simple biology text would deny that an unborn child is alive at the moment of conception. It is alive, it is human, and it is an individual the moment conception occurs. To state otherwise is a denial of scientific fact.

So, according to the very definition of the word person, it is indeed a person. Even the founders considered the unborn a person in the common usage of the term in a legal sense. This can be easily seen by the English common law of the time called the Offense Against the Person act - one that specifically outlawed abortion. Even a cursory glance will show that the "Person" being referred to in the act's title is the unborn. Proof positive that at the time the unborn were considered people.

So it is perfectly reasonable for an atheist or indeed anyone to object to abortion solely based on scientific and legal evidence without any need to draw on religious experience or background whatsoever.

The 14th Amendment is quite clear and much more compelling than any implied right to privacy that was crafted completely out of thin air to explain the Roe V Wade decision.

410 55- I agree. I work in the finance industry and have noticed that nearly every time Romney won a primary, the stock market went up the next day. Particularly in the later rounds. However, I don't expect the O team to tout the performance of the stock market since it's only us 1%-ers that can afford to participate (what an idiot) and he plans to increase the dividends and capital gains taxes. If, hopefully not when, that happens, the brakes will be slammed on the market and he would have egg on his face if he had previously touted it as a sign of recovery. I think that's clear given that he has said nothing since the DJIA broke 13,000 again.
