BuzzFeed: Eating Dog Is Really No Worse Than Eating Chicken
Politi"Fact:" Did Obama Eat Dog? The Evidence Is Too Inconclusive For Us To Say "True" or "False"

First of all, after lunch, enjoy this older Daily Mail article on dog slaughtering. Colorful local custom.

BuzzFeed, Ben Smiths Gonzo Liberal Spin Shop, links that, but then makes this dubious argument. See, okay, Obama ate a dog. But is that such a big deal?

No. Because both eat chicken, and that's worse or something, so it's a draw. Isn't it?

Isn't it?

These images (and the vastly more horrifying ones that emerged from a recent investigation into the dog-meat trade in China) are certainly jarring, but the fact of the matter is that the squeamishness and outrage that this subject seems to generate is somewhat misplaced. When I raised this issue with Matt Prescott, who is the Food Policy Director at the Humane Society of the United States, he brushed it off:

Abusing dogs for their meat is certainly horrible. Though it’s important to note that the way chickens and pigs are abused on U.S. factory farms is also horrific, with animals crammed into tiny cages and crates, suffering immensely for much of their lives.

If that's the case, we should probably drop this whole obscure Indonesian dog meat issue and ask both the candidates about these pictures. I won't hold my breath.

Yes, we should drop this "obscure Indonesian dog meat issue" (in what way is it "obscure"? Dude ate a f***ing dog. What's wrong with your brain that you're having difficulty with this very simple fact set?) and focus on what really matters: Chicken.

And the chicken issue just happens to cut both ways but that's a coincidence.

Swearsies!

Meanwhile, PolitiFact, whose whole raison d'etre to declare things as "True," "Mostly True," "Misleading," or "Pants on Fire," claims in its headline that there is some question regarding the matter:

In context: Did Obama eat dog in Indonesia?

What the hell does "in context," in this context, mean? Dude either ate dog or he did not eat dog. There is not some context by which you'd say, "Well, he ate a dog, but in context, he didn't."

They quote from the book, attempting to add context, but placing the quote about eating dog where of course it should go -- at the end of the extended excerpt, buried under paragraphs of irrelevant material which all but beg of you, "Stop reading this and click over to the Huffington Post to find out if Kim Kardashian does butt stuff."

The paragraph that answers the question posed, dispositively, is placed at the bottom?

And then they refuse to answer whether it is "True," "False," or "Misleading" that Obama ate a dog. They just don't say either way. I don't really follow PolitiFact, but I have never seen a "Fact Check" in which they refused to render some verdict on the facts.

They refuse to do so here -- and to my admittedly limited knowledge, this is the very first time they've so refused.

And it's an easy question to answer. In his own voice, reading from the book that Bill Ayers wrote for him, Obama says he was "introduced" to dog, and found it "tough."

But PolitiFact leaves this as an unanswered question -- the headline question unanswered by the writer or the site -- as if this is a proposition over which reasonable minds might draw differing conclusions.

Is Obama lying when he says he ate a dog? I guess PolitiFact thinks maybe he is.

Meanwhile, while these pictures are horrifying, I do urge you to email around what cooked dog actually looks like.

It's not like you don't know you're eating dog. The heads are cooked intact, eyes and all.

It's not just like some meat in a stew.

More: When delving into the important question of whether Mike Huckabee ate squirrel, PolitiFact had no trouble in answering the charge as "True."

Suddenly they're confused about the meaning of the word "eat."

No Problem... Declaring the Seamus on the Roof story "Mostly True."

But this is getting awesome.

Every possible weakness of Romney is magnified in Obama.

Sure, Mittens is an aloof technocrat. Barry has him beat.

Mitt is a member of a questionable/alien feeling religious tradition. Barry went to a Black Supremacist church.

Mitt created a crappy health care plan for a state. Barry imposed one on a country nearly by force.

Mitt put a dog on the car roof. Barry put one (?) in his belly.

15 "In Context" it is quite creepy.
He went to bed remembering the death twitches of a chicken and thinking "I'm so lucky!":

"Lolo nodded again, and I watched the man set the bird down, pinning it gently under one knee and pulling its neck out across a narrow gutter. For a moment the bird struggled, beating his wings hard against the ground, a few feathers dancing up with the wind. Then it grew completely still. The man pulled the blade across the bird’s neck in a single smooth motion. Blood shot out in a long, crimson ribbon. The man stood up, holding the bird far away from his body, and suddenly tossed it high into the air. It landed with a thud, then struggled to its feet, its head lolling grotesquely against its side, its legs pumping wildly in a wide, wobbly circle. I watched as the circle grew smaller, the blood trickling down to a gurgle, until finally the bird collapsed, lifeless on the grass.

... Later, lying alone beneath a mosquito net canopy, I listened to the crickets chirp under the moonlight and remembered that last twitch of life that I’d witnessed a few hours before. I could barely believe my good fortune."

matters: Chicken.

Oh I hate these sanctimonious F*ks, that try to make the absurd statement that eating chicken and dog are the same. Chickens were domesticated as food about 6000BC. And have never been a "companion"

Whereas, dogs, in the west have been loyal companions of man for 20,000 years. That kind of loyalty buys you a lot in my mind.

Here have some tears.

In light of recent disclosures about the pResident's diet during his upbringing, I've developed a theory as to why Barky started out with such a 70% job approval rating in 2008, and now he can't even break 50% job approval.
In 2008 Barky's snake powers were ascendant, and having not consumed snake since moving into the WH they have declined. My speculation is that on one of his trips overseas, Barky got a hold of some" Not-Quite-Right" dog meat, and a "Rabid Dog" power entered his psyche.
Like most Americans,I wasn’t raised to believe in maguzophagia . That is if one eats the meat of an animal he gains the powers that that animal possesses so my understanding of this phenomenon is limited. But if maguzophagia is true as Lolo taught Barky, it explains Barky'sdecline over the last few years.

148 Dogs: Specifically bred for human companionship.

Not really. Dogs were bred for their outstanding talents and trustworthiness. They adapt to humans as their leaders and give us all of their considerable tools to use, being highly instructable and useful in thousands of different ways.

On top of all that they are the most excellent companions because of how they interact with us and their natural pack instinct, taking on the human family as their pack. To eat such an animal is beyond tasteless. But, we know that the leftists not only have no taste, but specifically seek the tasteless.

208 With ABC News’ release of the George Zimmerman photo showing blood flowing freely from his head, the question becomes whether Angela Corey, the prosecutor in the case, had access to the photo before charging Zimmerman with second-degree murder.
The arrest affidavit did not mention the photograph, or the bleeding, gashes, and bruises on Zimmermans’ head. Professor Alan Dershowitz of Harvard Law School stated upon release of the arrest affidavit that it was “so thin that it won’t make it past a judge on a second degree murder charge … everything in the affidavit is completely consistent with a defense of self-defense.”
After the release of the photo, however, Dershowitz went much further, telling Breitbart News that if the prosecutors did have the photo and didn’t mention it in the affidavit, that would constitute a “grave ethical violation,” since affidavits are supposed to contain “all relevant information.”
Dershowitz continued, “An affidavit that willfully misstates undisputed evidence known to the prosecution is not only unethical but borders on perjury because an affiant swears to tell not only the truth, but the whole truth, and suppressing an important part of the whole truth is a lie."
When asked if it made a difference whether the prosecution had the bloody photograph at the time they charged Zimmerman, Dershowitz responded, “We do know that there were earlier photographs before the affidavit was done that strongly suggested blood on the back of the head, and we know the police had first access to him, so if there was blood they [the prosecution] would know about it …
"I've had cases in Florida against prosecutors,” Dershowitz said, “and this is not the first time they have willfully omitted exculpatory evidence. It's a continuing problem. Here, it’s not only immoral, but stupid. The whole country is watching. What do they benefit from having half-truths in an affidavit?"
Dershowitz added, "I'm not taking sides, but I'm insisting that both sides play by the rules, and so far the prosecution is not playing by the rules."

220 Dagny,

It's really quite simple. They're afraid of their own manhood. Liberal men are used to being bullied by their girlfriends and angry lesbians and they try to appear as non threatening as possible. Most of them couldn't make a decision or take charge to save their life. They have to have consensus on every little thing because otherwise they might be responsible for something or they might not be liked by someone.

Plus, all that soy increases your estrogen levels, while eating beef and fat increases your testosterone levels. I'm pretty sure most women can smell the difference on a pheromone level.

OK, I gotta jump in on the foreign lands/food thing.
I was sent to China on business and before I left I was warned about dog and horse meat and how to tell them from beef, lamb or pork (by the color of the uncooked meat), that would likely be available at a "Mongolian buffet" type place under another label.
Didn't go to one of those, but whenever we ate out everything was described to me in terms of what animalit came from, in case I wanted to pass on it. And whenever we ate in the company cafeteria, at the end of the meal one of my Chinese coworkers would leave for a moment, only to return with a paper plate with french fries on it, made special for the US visitors, and in the center would be a toothpick with a tiny American flag attached to it. It would be proudly put in the center of the table so everyone could have some and they would kind of salute us with them.
I really think that most people would hate to be given food they'd never eat if visiting another country, so they try not to do it to you, and try to make available things you'd like if they can.
That Barry's stepdaddy fed him dog in a country where it's not known for it? I think stepdaddy hated O and did it because hewouldn't know any better what an insult it was.
That said, has anyone see Bo lately?

222 Of the sparkling wines, the most famous is Perth Pink. This is a bottle
with a message in, and the message is 'beware'. This is not a wine for
drinking, this is a wine for laying down and avoiding.

Another good fighting wine is Melbourne Old-and-Yellow, which is
particularly heavy and should be used only for hand-to-hand combat.

Quite the reverse is true of Château Chunder, which is an appellation
contrôlée, specially grown for those keen on regurgitation; a fine wine
which really opens up the sluices at both ends.

To me this is the bigger win. I really don't care too much that young Barry ate dogmeat as a kid growing up in Indonesia other than that it subtly reminds everyone that he is not of this culture. What's great is watching his defenders get so wound up about it and try to make it sound like it's actually OK. Sort of like how they've tried that with unemployment and how being out of work was actually a nice thing for a lot of people because it gave them time to get back in touch with themselves. I wouldn't be surprised if some media outfit tries to pawn off some story about how eating dogmeat is actually extremely common in most parts of the world and how this makes Americans the real weirdos.

a low branch.

"A monkey!" I shouted.

"An ape," my mother corrected.

I was vegetarian for a long time, couldn't digest red meat that well so stopped eating it. When I realized I could function without beef, I stopped eating poultry too. I evenquit eating fish for a while. But as a former vegetarian, I know there is a quasi-veggie "food pyramid": beef and red meat products are at the top, because they are mammals, as are we humans. Then come chickens, ducks, and other fowl, because they are not mammals. Then come the fishies in the sea. IOW dogs are NOT the same as chickens - any vegetarian can tell you that, because they are mammals and therefore closer to humans.

So all the rationalizing is just B.S. and furthermore really stupid because it keeps the issue alive in the mind of John Q. Public.

What's happened here thatnever happens is the left is beingforced to finally defend itself instead of owning the high ground automatically. They can't win without those pre-built assumptions of normalcy. If they have to explain and defend any of their positions, they're toast because true 'normalcy' is present for contrast. This is where hope lives long-term IMO.

Of course I believe you; I was stationed at Hovey back in 1985/1986.

My great memory of Korean dog eating habits was watching a group of Korean teens standing around a fire, with one dog hanging by a rope around its neck off a nearby tree limb. Big dog, too... probably they all went home fat and burping.

And yes... my wife confessed that she did eat dog on occasion as a kid, but very rarely because in fact dog was very expensive over there. Nowadays, though, Koreans are desperate to be "just like Americans," and owning dogs as pets instead of dinner is becoming very popular among the upper class. So I figure Korean Days of Dog Eating are nearing an end.

335 I came to this late, but I have to scold you, Ace, for being misleading: "Dude ate a f***ing dog" implies that he ate a *whole* dog. First off, I think it unlikely that a child of his age could polish off a whole dog, unless it's one of those miniature dogs, which nobody over there could afford. And also due to economic issues, they were unlikely to be able to afford a seperate dog for each diner. It's much more probable that one dog would need to feed a whole large family, preferably with leftovers the next day plus dog soup made from the remnants.
So it would be more correct, I think, to say "Dude atesome f***ing dog, plus leftover dog and dog soup".

354 After all these years I get replaced by that stoner Matthew McConaughey. Shouldn't he be doing Taco Bell or Fritos commercials? No, he is doing the damn Beef Council ads now. Me, I was in Roadhouse, I played lots of tough guys, now, well let's say my career ain't what it used to be. BRB,

"Dog, it's what's for dinner when you are out of beef, pork, chicken, lamb, goat, turkey, quail, buffalo, fish, shellfish, veggie burgers, tofu, snails, octopus, cereal, doughnuts, cookies, cake, vegetables, pasta, sparrows, eagles, eels, shark, dolphin, rats, turd urine soup, rice or grass".

355 I thought of this coming home last night. The quintessential Youtube ad about DogGate.

Scene: A previous little girl is sitting on her fireplace next to her golden retriever.

"Hi President Obama. This is Alex. And he's my first doggie.

So far his talents include trying any new food and chasing
after our cat.

That, and making my heart pound every time I look at him.

And so, President Obama, when you say you eat doggies, were
you counting on Alex?

Because if you were, you can't have him."

359 " Matt Prescott, who is the Food Policy Director at the Humane Society of the United States, he brushed it off:"

Folks - just for everyone's information, this group is NOT your local Humane Society and they have no association with the Humane Society that runs animals shelters.

This is another radical animal 'rights' group that does nothing but lobby and donate to Democrats. They haven't saved one animal.

Ace neds to do a post about HSUS and their disengenuous use of the Human Society name for the purposes of collecting money which they use to lobby to shut down hunting, fishing, and gun rights.

361 I'm Baptitst, so you'll have to forgive Catholic knowledge base, but could this be a case where since Obama is the liberal Jesus that the dog transubstantiates into, say, chicken or waffles? If it turns into waffles, we know we're supposed to just leave him alone.

362 " He explained that a man took on the
powers of whatever he ate"
Barry: daddy this dog is tasty but it sure is tough and chewy
Lolo: what the? No boy you have started at the wrong end, aw no now its all wrong, just...just never speak of this to anyone. Ill try to get some tiger meat to cancel that shi t out.

363 In context: Did Obama eat dog in Indonesia?

What the hell does "in context," in this context, mean? Dude either
ate dog or he did not eat dog. There is not some context by which you'd
say, "Well, he ate a dog, but in context, he didn't."
--
He didn't inhale.
He swallowed the dog, like swallowing a camel but choking on a gnat.

I live on a ranch in west TX. Last year a cougar killed my best cow dog (8 yr old Blue Heeler). She was going blind from tic fever. I found halfher carcass (some skin, headand bones...with collar)3 months later....up in an oak tree...next to a wind mill. I don't blame the cougar. He's just a soulless predator, doing what he'sdesigned to do.... kill and eat unsuspecting, innocent, and usuallymore intelligent but weaker, creatures.
Woof!
GOD HELP US.

Well, in defense of Politifact, Owebama lies so much you don't really know whether to believe it when he says that he ate dog. It could just be another lie that he thinks will get him re-elected.

370 Cooked dog looks like that in China, and only in some stores. When I had dog there it was just in a stir fry like any other meat.

In Indonesia they dress the dog, i.e. butcher it.

When you order dog meat at a Batak restaurant it looks just like another kind of meat.

Its a whole lot easier to eat that way.

But it is weird that a whole dog freaks me out but a whole pig or duck doesn't at all. That has to be cultural. Pigs are cute too, but I don't mind seeing their cooked carcass...though I'd prefer just the meat.

I guess those Brit kids who thought bacon grew on trees stems from this,.

372 Let's see, the Pres found dog "tough", but we don't know if he really ate it?
Does this mean he chewed but he didn't swallow?
Shades of Bill Clinton, who smoked pot but didn't inhale.
If intellectual sluts can suspend disbelief in order to find these arguments credible, what else are they capable of justifying?
Be afraid, be very afraid...
