Government Services Administrator Forced Out For Lavishly Wasting Money On Luxe Vegas "Conference" Featuring Clowns

Remember, Obama can't find anything to cut in government -- it's all lean muscle now -- and if you cut anything at all, Joe Biden says you're killing cops and firemen.

I wish the 5th Circuit could demand if Obama answer, under oath, if he believes that's actually true.

The leadership collapse came hours before GSA Inspector General Brian D. Miller released a scathing report on the $823,000 training conference, held for 300 West Coast employees at the M Resort and Casino, an opulent hotel in Henderson, Nev., just south of Las Vegas. From $130,000 in travel expenses for six scouting trips to a $2,000 party in Peck’s loft suite, event planners violated federal limits on conference spending.

The episode is an embarrassment for the Obama administration at a time when the role and size of government have taken center stage in the presidential campaign. How much government should spend, and on what, will be at the heart of the election-year battles between Democrats and Republicans.

Gold-Plated Government

Do you want to be governed in a cheap, economical style?

Or don't you really prefer to be governed opulently, Trump-Style?

Yeah ya do!

102 Just got this college recruitment email:

But
undergraduates at the University of Chicago are anything but
predictable. “The last thing to come to mind” is exactly their field of
expertise. That’s why they organized the first ever UChicago Conference
on Jersey Shore Studies. Comically dubbed “the greatest sociological
experiment of our time,” this symposium brought together scholars from
all walks of academic life—media studies, sociology, anthropology, race,
ethnicity, and gender studies—to tackle the most pressing question on
our minds today: What’s really up with Snooki and the rest of the gang? This
is what a UChicago education is all about: collaborating with peers and
examining everything with a critical eye, even if it may not seem like a
traditionally “academic” subject. Because at UChicago, no topic is
off-limits. Here are just a few projects students and professors have
pursued in recent years:Conducting economic research on corruption in the world of professional sumo wrestling.Establishing the video game company Bungie (developer of the Halo Xbox series). And yes, even exploring gender roles on the Jersey Shore (or, for the full title: “Catfights, Bromances, and the G-Code: Jersey Shore and its Reinvention and Reaffirmation of Gender Roles.”)The
academic opportunities at UChicago span the gamut. With strong programs
in the humanities as well as the biological, physical, and social
sciences, students get to explore a Core curriculum in which they’ll
study physics with poets, and poetry with physicists. Art majors work in
chemistry labs. Economists play lead in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”
Every student explores a wide variety of subjects, which means every
student has something unique to bring to the late-night dorm-room
debates and lunchtime discussions. If you’re inspired by a student community that’s unafraid to critically inquire about any subject—even if that subject is Jersey Shore—then consider UChicago during your college search.

No, I created an e-mail address (nynjmeetup@....) and started posting it in comments for several days. I also asked ace to post it, and he put it in the sidebar (with a broken link to the address...but he tried!). Then I got smart and asked Gabe to post it. I collected a bunch of e-mail addresses of the people who were interested, and sent a couple of blast e-mails out asking for their desires: location, time and date for the meet, and their zip code. I plugged the zips into a mapping app, chose a central location, and found a nice place to meet. Then I sent out a few e-mails with the info.

It probably took me longer to type this than it took to arrange the meet. I would be happy to explain in more detail. Use the nynjmeet at optimum dot net if you want more info.

Actually, I don't have a problem with it, provided they do so appropriately subtly and legally. That is: I don't want them coming out and endorsing any candidate, and I don't want them making campaign donations- but crafting policies directly in response to things the President has done? 187 President Barack Obama’s labor secretary, Hilda Solis, has authorized new posters in elevators throughout the Department of Labor’s Washington, D.C. headquarters building. The posters feature a photo of her marching in protest alongside the Rev. Jesse Jackson and MSNBC television host Rev. Al Sharpton, among others.

The photo depicts Solis acting as an emissary of the Obama administration protesting against Alabama’s strict new law combating illegal immigration. Solis has her arms locked with Sharpton, and Jackson is a few feet away. The poster also carries a message for federal government employees — who are traditionally expected to be apolitical in the performance of their duties.

“Whether we take to the streets or simply do our work with integrity and commitment here at the U.S. Department of Labor,” the poster reads, above Solis’ signature, “We are all marching toward the same goals: safer workplaces, fair pay, dignity on the job, secure retirement and opportunities to make a better life. I believe in the power of collective action.”

A Labor Department spokeswoman did not respond to The Daily Caller’s request for comment on whether Solis is encouraging federal workers to use their positions to promote a political agenda. Even so, an official sign describing the posters’ purpose indicates that may be the case.

193 As much as I loathe and detest this entire administration - I have to tell y'all, as a blue collar Federal employee, this stuff happens in the Executive ranks all. the. time. Has for at least the 27 years I've been employed by Uncle Sam.

True story: the management hierarchy at the facility I work at has undergone a major (read: fundamental) transformation. Upper management decided that the only way to go with this change was to send every stinkin' manager to a contracted-out training seminar, taught at the local community college. Catered lunches. Busy-work, touchy feeley exercises in "team building". Big, expensive class photos at the end. All at the low, low price of $5,000 per person. To date, about 300 managers have been treated, er, trained. And...the training has absolutely no relevance to the work we do. Some contractor came up with a sales pitch for it, the big bosses bought off on it, and...ta da! Instant cottage industry!

“I think if President Obama came out as gay, he wouldn’t lose the black vote,” a cheerful Van Jones told MSNBC this afternoon.

“President Obama is not going to lose the black vote no matter what he does,” he added.

Jones packed a lot of interesting things in that brief comment. Why is it impossible for Obama to lose the black vote? Why did he single out Obama coming out as gay, as something extreme, but yet not enough to lose him the black vote?

What exactly is Van Jones trying to say? It sounds like he’s accusing millions of black voters of two kinds of bigotry. Funny, how no one on the set with him called him out.

NBC has completed its investigation into the mishandling of the police dispatcher’s conversation with George Zimmerman in the Trayvon Martin case. And the process ends with a finding of error, plus an apology. Here is the statement just issued by the network:
