Italian Supreme Court Rejects Muslim Culture Defense to Beatings

The Italian Supreme Court upheld a sentence for aggravated abuse and assault against a Muslim father who "corrected" his twelve year old daughter with a broomstick.

Defense lawyers maintained that the father, who allegedly beat his daughter with a broom handle for "corrective" purposes after she could not properly recite the Koran, did so because of "cultural" reasons and should be given a lighter sentence accordingly.

The court said the beating would be unjustifiable whether from Italians or foreigners.

78 38-I guess it depends on your school district. In ours, only about 20% take advantage of free or subsidized lunches. The family has to fill out a boatload of paperwork, and all kids are required to purchase food from the cafeteria using a pin number, so as not to make the subsidized crowd feel bad about being subsidized. My kid takes her lunch, so it's no big deal for us----yet. If they start checking lunches (which I doubt they will do in high school) then we are in trouble. But I plan to throw a hissy fit if they question her lunches (which are designed for her dietary issues) and/or force her to buy new food.

Posted by: NASA at April 01, 2012 06:26 PM (1grxW) --------------------------LOL. Just as long as we send ALL of them to other planets that's fine with me. Then we can study all the ways that human colonization can fail. There's no technical enterprise that the muz trash can actually carry out successfully.

Posted by: Italian Supreme Court at April 01, 2012 06:41 PM (Iyg03)

105 I'd like to point out one thing.

The 'Father' in this case did not allegedly beat his twelve year old daughter with a broom handle, as the story suggests. He was already convicted of that. He's already guilty. He admits, that yes, he took a broom handle, and beat his 12 year old daughter with it. The only thing alleged in this case is his reason for doing so, which, surprisingly, the Italian SC did not accept as an excuse. Good on them.

Punishment should see this man beaten in the same fashion then sent back to whichever shit hole he came from. Testicles to follow at a later, unspecified date.

114 85 My son was in public school for one semester. He was the only kid who brought a (very nutritious) lunch from home. His teacher told me it would be "easier" if he ate from the cafeteria like all the other kids. That was the first sign if impending doom.

My son was chewed out in second grade for having a paper lunch sack, "destroying trees, ya know." this was in Catholic School. The teacher was about 15. I told him that the logger, the papermill people, and the truckers all got jobs from having that lunch sack, and they were all able to support their children using a renewable resource. I said the teacher was very young and did not know any better. She didn't particularly like his story about the "stabbing at the cemetary" for Halloween, either. :-O

116 Why again do we even need a federal school lunch-and-breakfast program? Those stupid programs are more to blame for childhood obesity than anything I can think of; the food is terrible with or without a mandatory serving of broccoli.

The first school I sent my sons to, in kindergarten, was set up so that every child, regardless of income, got free lunch and breakfast. I think the deal was that the neighborhood had ~70% of the children living in poverty, so it was cheaper to go ahead and give all the kids food rather than deal with the paperwork. I didn't want my kids eating that garbage so I packed their lunches and fed them oatmeal before I put them on the bus...but there was an employee at the school who took every single bus rider in kindergarten and first grade through the cafeteria line to get breakfast, regardless of whether they had eaten or not. I asked the twins about their first day of kindergarten and they said "It was great! Did you know they have chocolate cereal that turns the milk chocolate? And you can have chocolate milk for breakfast?" I let my kids eat chocolate cereal or pop tarts on their birthdays only; the school hands out Cocoa Puffs five days a week, ten months a year. But they know better how to feed my kids.

Of course, you could say the same about this country in the 20s - 90s. Now they supply mainly China.
