Obama: We Didn't Create The Program That Gave Money To Solyndra

Looks like the only heat Solyndra is now producing is on our feckless President.

We are doing the all of the above strategy right. Obviously, we wish Solyndra hadn’t gone bankrupt. Part of the reason they did was because the Chinese were subsidizing their solar industry and flooding the market in ways that Solyndra couldn’t compete. But understand, this was not our program per se.

Congress–Democrats and Republicans–put together a loan guarantee program because they understood historically that when you get new industries–it’s easy to raise money for start-ups, but if you want to take them to scale sometimes there’s a lot of risk involved, and what the loan guarantee program was designed to do was to help start-up companies get to scale. And the understanding is that some companies are not going to succeed, some companies are going to do very well, but the portfolio as a whole ends up supporting the kind of innovation that helps make America successful in this innovative 21st century economy. Do I wish that Solyndra had gone bankrupt? Absolutely not. And obviously it’s heartbreaking it happened for the workers who were there.

There was an earlier loan program but as you might recall, the Bush administration refused to give Solyndra a loan under that. They only got the money after a new program was created under the so-called "stimulus" bill.

That Obama feels the need to lie about this shows they know the issue is cutting against them. Time to double down on it GOP.

Standard Oil.
American Telephone and Telegraph.
Ford Motor Company.

Excuse me? Young industries/businesses that are better than their competition scale up -historically- quite nicely just with private investment. Congress created the program to help subsidize industries that are not competitive on their own.

Even if that lie were true- everyone who could add 1 and 1 and not get 17 knew that Solyndra was doomed from the outset, and the BOOOOOSH administration had even already rejected their request.

If the Romney/Republicans were smart, they would concoct an Obama Misery Index composed of Gas prices, milk prices, bread prices, cost of health insurance, and the unemployment rate.

That's the only way to beat Obama in November -- explain in simple terms how Obama is draining people's wallets.

"The Republican Party is a very loyal party, and if you are a soldier for the party, for the establishment, they will support you later on. And maybe it's not Rick's time."

??? What is wrong with that statement?

The GOP Est decided in 2008 that it was McCain's turn in exchange for his endorsement of Bush over Kerry in 2004 (remember that?) Remember Bush's arm around the shoulders of a very uncomfortable looking McCain as he proudly announced McCain was endorsing him?

So...the GOP Est told Romney that they would back him in 2012, but it was McCain's turn in 2008?

If only there were some proven way of accurately forecasting if a company might succeed or fail. Or some mechanism by which these myriad potential innovations could be vetted, evaluated, and prioritized so as to avoid squandering resources, or even criminal fraud.

But such a thing would require millions - even billions! - of individual evaluators to constantly signal their preferences in real-time, reacting rapidly to an ever-changing flow of information encompassing thousands of different areas of expertise. How could we possibly afford such a thing?

Oh well. Sounds like a job for a Czar.

The point he was trying to make, that it was Bush and Bernanke who paid all that money to refloat the economy for a little bit, not Barky (though Barky had a cool trillion and half of his own policies' "free money" sloshing around in the economy). 177 So, Obama says it's not his fault because . . . he criminally misused, abused and corrupted a fundamentally sound existing program to pump money to his cronies. That's a weird thing to admit.

178 O can't win on his record so he's running against congress. Geitner(sorry if I misspelled) blamed the budget and cap raising on congress when asked what the cap would need to be raised to in order to cover all oustanding debt. GOP must make sure to show it was the one's blessed congress who passed all this s@@t in his first two years.

179 In other news, Obambi did not create the office of the president, so is not responsible for anything the president does.

180 This is going to take down Obama just like Whitewater and Travelgate took down Clinton.
What would happen if the GOP pushed a scandal and nobody cared? Well, it's happened before...

181 The Obama administration didn't create the Department of Defense either but BHO still wants credit for making the decision to go get OBL with Seal Team Six ... right?

How is this claim any different?

183 So just because you can do something doesn't mean you should?

And it took Weaseldick 3 years to figure that out?

Obama: I didn't invent that program so don't blame me for Solyndra.
OJ Simpson: I didn't invent that knife so don't blame me for those two dead people with slit throats.

185 He doesn't even 'own' what he signs now. If he hadn't personally wrestled bin Laden from his hiding spot and snapped his neck by the light of the moon he wouldn't own anything.

186 "Time to double down on it GOP."

Probably not gonna happen.

When the opportune time comes around, the Republicans are more likely to back down, instead of double down.

187 Obama is a stuttering clusterf*ck of a miserable failure.
