Robert Downey Jr. Outs Hollywood Pedophilia & Child Prostitution Ring Under Anonymous Internet Handle?

Not sure if it's Robert Downey, Jr., or someone else who knows things, or, importantly, someone who doesn't know much of anything but likes posting online as if he does.

Worth a read, though. Even if it is left-leaning Jezebel. The allegations are so actionable -- libelous if false, prosecutable if true -- I'll just leave them behind and the link.

Though, I am more likely to believe that Downey is coming from a good place to fight evil. If it is RDJ, then I can understand why he's not going public. When he came out of Rehab as a Conservative (also a Christian, I think), it was a long time before he got work again. As much as he is Conservative, he still likes being a Hollywood star, and doesn't want to risk that by coming out publicly- especially since we all know that "justice" is different for the High Society, and so he'd be burning bridges to no good effect.

That may not be the most principled stance ever, but I can certainly understand it.

40 Basically there is a commenter on Crazy Days and Nights that is called "Himmmm" and seems to have lots of insider knowledge.

That commenter was outed as Talley Griffiths a while ago, BUT now this person is commenting as Himmmm and saying it was four guys (the four m's) all commenting as that one account name (which happens all the time, ahem).

And it looks like Talley isn't doing it anymore and only Downey is left doing it, and he's been saying some nice things about lots of people, but some very nasty things about Hayden Panettiere (and her parents).

I do think it's Downey and Griffiths was one one and Feldman and not sure who the fourth was.

That sort of situation (the Panettiere one) reminds me of that sweet Jenny Lewis song, Rabbit Fur Coat (and she would know from being a child star):

Posted by: Chris at March 13, 2012 01:18 PM (fsFpl)

It won't take 40 years - the pace of degeneration is accelerating.

Mainstreaming pedophilia will start with an edgy movie that will start debate, then the public surfacing of a pressure group (NAMBLA?) with marches and demonstrations, then some shitty Hollywood actor/actress wannabees will champion the cause as a way of breaking out of the pack. Next stop: Boys' Town will have a statue of Michael Jackson out in front.

What comes after that? Good question. What's left, besides the asteroid? The other possibility is a convulsive reaction to all the depravity, and a turn toward Victorian morality.

Yeah, I find it hard to imagine too, but historically there have been any number of dissolute times and hypermoral times, so it is possible for one to turn into the other. After all, 40 years ago people could have their careers destroyed by a rumor of homosexuality. Now people practically put it on their business cards.

77 It's too bad people will put their brain to work outing good guys who want to be anonymous. If this guy is trying to expose pedophiles, why not let him have his anonymity?

They are on that same slippery slope. The fence that keeps us going over is the fact that most of us don't agree with the pedophiles when they say that that kid liked it.

But think about California -- where a minor can transition to majority when she gets pregnant -- and you can see that "age of consent" might really be 12 or 13, if you wanted to be logically consistent.

I mostly agree with your analysis, but there is this point: If someone is completely anonymous, then you can't know if they're just making crap up, or if they're telling the truth.

So, whether or not it's RDJ is secondary (in this respect) to it being someone known, who can be held accountable for what they're saying. Like Ace said- this is either an outing of the most terrible evils, or major libel. If it's libel, those affected deserve to be able to clear their names. If it's not, they need to be jailed. An anonymous handle doesn't allow that to happen.

100 "Like Ace said- this is either an outing of the most terrible evils, or major libel."

That's true.

But if it's libelous, the victims could subpoena the IP address and seek out the person responsible. Probably, anyway.

I would prefer letting them fight that themselves. After all, they are less likely to sue him for libel if he's telling the truth. You're right that if this is a pack of lies, the aggrieved must be allowed to clear their names. But I also think there is a powerful value in making sure that people who want to expose this kind of crime can do so.

There is at least some corroboration between reality and what this anon guy is saying.

It would have been better had 'himmm' been more careful, of course, but I've noticed time and again that the anon do gooders are much less careful than the anon baddies are. They just don't have enough guilt to think to hide cleverly.

Normally I would agree with you, but when you are a messed up person with plenty of problems yourself and you are fighting the people that control the screens of most of the worlds population who has a sitting and exceptionally corrupt White House administration in their deep debt for both entertainment/propaganda and straight $$$ donations.... well you can just walk into Mordor and announce yourself.

Here is the line that keeps haunting me from that old Corey Haim suicide peace on Fox.

on the Prairie" star Alison Arngrim. "It was the gossip back in the
'80s. People said, 'Oh yeah, the Coreys, everyone's had them.' People
talked about it like it was not a big deal.""

115 While I don't doubt this kinda shit goes on there (and anywhere there's a lot of power and money) and probably a fair amount, I'm curious as to how it doesn't get out if it's on such a large scale and pretty much organized. It would have to be a conspiracy of a lot of people, too many really, especially in this day and age of cell phone cameras and Internet everywhere. There are a ton of people working in Hollywood in ancillary roles that don't necessarily share the mores of the "elite", and anyway half the people there, in the business and in the Hollywood media, are out to destroy each other. If there can be a mostly successful conspiracy of that many people to keep this secret than maybe they should all be given jobs in government.

129 I saw Jack Lemmon once, sitting by himself in a sidewalk cafe on Rodeo Drive in BH in 1977. He looked restless, jittery...

"Wonder Woman" almost ran into me; Cheryl Tiegs walked past me, smiling and smelling of strawberries, in that strange Summer of 76.

135 Sadly this shit happens in any industry that kids are involved in. When I was in the radio business, the record companies gave off this kind of vibe. All of these top level execs who just happened to marry the latest young songbird who was lighting up the charts at the time. He would be 60, she would be 18-21. He was the one who "discovered" her, molded her career, fed the industry rags with stories on how wholesome she was, then when she became legal for marriage, bam. 5 years later, they get divorced when her career is over, and he is on to his next "project". The gay ones just kept "discovering" acts like New Kids and Justin Beiber.

Why doesn't anyone say anything? The same reason why none of Elvis' "friends" helped him, they don't want to lose their gravy train.

Posted by: Kensington at March 13, 2012 03:56 PM (/AHDz)

139 I don't think its Downey. He would not have the time, basically. Or the interest.

Most of Hollywood is pretty well scheduled, dysfunction is not tolerated (see Charlie Sheen) when it affects shooting. A lot of the stuff there is oriented towards the Disney Kid stuff, which does sound seamy. That is a major problem. And sooner or later some washed up starlet or family will sue Disney or whatever, piercing the corporate veil to get a big payday and (sell a book). And get on the radar again.

THAT folks is the biggest threat to Hollywood. A big, ongoing scandal that results in lawsuits. Look at Nicollete Sheridan, ten years ago a suit against a network and a producer would never have happened. But when you don't have anything to lose, well paydays legally look good.

146 The whole thing is weird. I find it hard to believe. I lean toward hoax, but with enough identifying details to throw suspicion off who is really posting that.

But then, I've seen sicker in real, non-Hollywood life, so who the heck knows?

I hope it isn't real. I just remember that Hayden girl from watch season 1 of Heroes with my then significant other. But the show had emotional significance to me because of who I saw it with. So I sort of feel, if not a connection, something for that Hayden girl other than her being blonde and pretty.

I hope she wasn't abused. I'm not sure if I feel mad that someone would out her privacy ... I've known girls who were abused when younger and who just want to forget about it and I respect that ... I certainly wouldn't use their name and publish what happened to them online to the world ... or that, if someone felt strongly enough to do that, they wouldn't also go to the police to have an investigation for any crimes allegedly done to her.

One way or another, I hope ... well ... it's a shitty world. I hope it will improve, and justice will be done here.

I realize I sort of contradicted myself when I said I would maintain confidentiality for someone who had been sexually abused. I would do that. But if it's current abuse, then no, it should be stopped.

Posted by: Random at March 13, 2012 10:31 PM (qNX0n)

147 At this point, I am feeling down, mostly ... well, mostly because of having lost my significant other's love. I find it impossible to deal with, honestly, as much as I think I *should* be able to deal with it.

And then I think ... there are actually children who are fucked by their parents or parents' friends or whomever ... or prostituted out or WTF?

And (some) people actually survive this, and can function?

Well good for them, and I mean that. I have no idea how they deal with receiving that level of sick abuse from someone who created and is supposed to protect them as children, when I can't even deal with a bloody breakup.

I feel a bit ashamed at myself for not being able to handle that, honestly. Doesn't mean I can handle it though.

But I do respect those who can handle more than me, and I'm glad so many people can get over those things done to them. I hope ... if this is another Hollywood rape/child abuse thing ... I hope it gets stopped.

The anonymous commenter says there are lots of good people in Hollywood. Well if this abuse that the Corey whomever and the commenter whomever say is happening is actually happening, let these good people come forward and have their say. There's no excuse for it. Just because a child is a high-earning celebrity, does not make it fit to somehow whore them out.

For Christ sakes, and I don't even believe in Christ. But Jesus.

I'm glad to hear you say that. I LOVE Aidan Quinn.

He starred in my favorite movie ever, with Darryl Hannah, who was actually great because she was perfectly cast. I related to that movie so much emotionally, and have seen it a lot. By myself and with whatever girl.

Quinn's acting, though, was superb and what I remember the most ... aside from the music. They should have made a sound track for it, but I don't think the movie was every popular enough.

I'm glad to hear that you've met Quinn and think he'd be one of the good ones.

Well F--- me.

One of the two, to my surprise, is telling me she was abused by her dad. I think her parents are nice, decent people so that didn't occur to me. But she's adopted, and was adopted into a good home after that. The other woman, fortunately, wasn't abused and simply has loving parents.

151 Look at the reaction to the whole Roman Polanski thing. People weren't just trying to cover it up, they were stridently defending the man. Almost lauding his actions. That tells you everything you need to know about Hollywood culture. I assume every story like this is true unless proven otherwise. Hollywood's moral depravity is astounding.

They're rich, powerful, and unlike the corporate executives that people love to pick on they have a lot of free time and are pretty much above the law.
