Kirsten Powers: I'm Beginning to Suspect The Media Has a Double-Standard About Crass Comments About Women

"This isn't really about misogyny; this is about the Democratic Party. And that's what it always comes down to, it's a proxy war for the Democratic Party."

Good interview (and more links from Allah, which I can't steal), and good article.

But if Limbaugh’s actions demand a boycott—and they do—then what about the army of swine on the left?

During the 2008 election Ed Schultz said on his radio show that Sarah Palin set off a “bimbo alert.” He called Laura Ingraham a “right-wing slut.” (He later apologized.) He once even took to his blog to call yours truly a “bimbo” for the offense of quoting him accurately in a New York Post column.

Keith Olbermann has said that conservative commentator S.E. Cupp should have been aborted by her parents, apparently because he finds her having opinions offensive. He called Michelle Malkin a “mashed-up bag of meat with lipstick.” He found it newsworthy to discuss Carrie Prejean’s breasts on his MSNBC show...

The grand pooh-bah of media misogyny is without a doubt Bill Maher.
Left-wing darling Matt Taibbi wrote on his blog in 2009, “When I read [Malkin’s] stuff, I imagine her narrating her text, book-on-tape style, with a big, hairy set of balls in her mouth.”

She makes a great point about Maher. Maher claims the reason he's allowed to call Palin a twat, c**t and so forth is that "he doesn't have sponsors."

No, he has a patron in HBO -- and HBO suffers him. HBO is a corporation; shouldn't they drop him?

But that's not Powers' point. Powers makes the point that while he may not have sponsors, he has a lot of top-liberal guests, without whom his show would consist of his own, ahem, comedic talent.

Why do they continue to flock to him? And giggle over his crassest comments?

Now, as I said about Limbaugh, I think many of these things are less egregious due to their being jokes of some kind.

But Limbaugh's crack was a joke too.

And yet he's to be hounded off the air?

Drugs are cool, unless it's a conservative using them.

Rehab means you can't judge, unless it's a conservative completing the program and *gasp* taking recovery seriously instead of treating it like a month at a spa.

Borders are arbitrary meaningless lines on maps, unless it's a conservative crossing one with prescription drugs in his plane.

Lucky for them they speak English. I mean, these women are bitching about words like "chairman" when in most other languages a guy and a girl can't even use the same words to say "I talk". The English-speaking feministas really don't have much of a clue as to how the world REALLY is. 174 There is a discussion on another website about whether Rush's "woman driver" comment would have been as insulting as calling Fluke a slut. Apparently Rush's point was that "woman driver" should be more insulting. Here's why:

Rush made an argument for calling Fluke a slut. While he develops a "black-and-white" conclusion that Fluke is sinful rather than virtuous, he had an argument. It was based on observations he made about Fluke's publicly stated very promiscuous behavior. If Rush had called her a "woman driver" for making some traffic offense, that would have been a baseless slander, because he would not be able to make any correlation between the offense and being a "woman driver".

Rush argues here that baseless slander is more egregious than stating conclusions to a set of premises.

When Maher or Olbermann or Schultz call names, I don't think you hear the bases of their claims, because there are none. They are just pejorative statements of their emotion, which is at a very juvenile level.

These misogynists and other left-wing cheerleaders never have an honest reason for using such defamatory language. Rush had a reason. You may disagree with his reasoning, or you may disagree with his black-an-white distillation of his conclusion, but he does not pull these remarks out of thin air.

Rush is a private citizen. He's not a former government official masquerading as a "journalist" or a functionary of the RNC or an elected official. And, fortunately, he hasn't even endorsed a candidate so he has no effect on any of them. If the word "slut" is not allowed to be used per FCC rules, then I guess he can be officially punished. Otherwise, it's between him and his sponsors, listeners, and stations that carry his show.

I really don't understand this compulsion "our" politicians have to weigh in on what Rush said. If they are asked about it, they should do what Newt did and redirect the issue back onto the violation of the Catholic Church's rights and/or to the SCOAMF.

343 ErikW, the day after Breitbart died, SOS was at work and encountered
some douche wearing a Che T-shirt. He said normally he doesn't bring
politics to work or ignores politics at work but something in him
(because of Andrew) made him tell the douche that he didn't like his
T-shirt and Che was a murdering terrorist. (I'm paraphrasing).

Douche then went to HR to complain and they called in SOS. He laid out clearly that if douche could wear that t-shirt, SOS can wear a Hitler t-shirt. They were not amused.

His supervisor is on his side but the douche's supervisor sent out a group e-mail saying that because someone complained and went crying to HR (SOS did not go to HR) their clothing choices were not more limited.

He responded to the group e-mail laying out his story and identifying himself. He provided them with a personal e-mail if they had any more questions.

He's received over 50 e-mails, most just curious as to what happened, some agreeing with him and several death threats.

He couldn't access his work e-mail all weekend...and someone from work called him to tell him his monitor had 'RACIST' painted on it in fingernail polish.

So....we're all waiting to see what happened when he went in to work today.

402 Ok, since Tami is in a hurry and actually wants to read this (apparently ESPN 8, the Ocho is down), I'll split it into three parts. First, my morning.

I arrived, clocked in and went to the production floor. My monitor was still sitting on my desk, with the word Racist written across it in fingernail polish in huge letters. Somebody obviously had spent some time on this.

The polish wasn't just red though, it was red with green metallic flecks in it. Really hideous effect overall - looked like my cubicle had been ransacked by a bunch of disgruntled Christmas elves. All they would have had to do is leave behind some tinsel and the effect would have been complete.

So, I stopped by and reported it to my Supervisor, who had just walked in the door. She looked at it and damn near cried, but called IT and HR to report the incident. I told her I also couldn't access my work email from home, she was on the phone with IT already and asking them to straighten it out, she was told that my account had a temporary suspension on it from HR.

So when she called HR they told her that I would have to meet with HR that afternoon about the email I had sent regarding the Che incident to the group, but that they would go ahead and reinstate my email access now. She was supposed to make it clear to me that I was not to respond to or send any emails regarding the incident to anyone in the group using my email.

So far so good I guess.. lol. So, it takes IT about an hour to get a new monitor up there, guy comes up with a brand spanking new one in the box. He looks at the old one, and the first words out of his mouth were "Holy... ". He managed to stop himself but it was pretty obvious what he was about to say next. I looked at the new monitor and told him, "You might want to see if you guys have a used one sitting around somewhere, I can't guarantee this won't be happening again - soon."

He replaced the monitor and left. So, about an hour and a half into my day and I haven't been able to do squat yet. I sign in and get to work. Lunch time rolls around, I was planning on lunch with my supervisor but she gets called into a meeting so we reschedule for dinner later in the week, she wants me to meet her hubby anyway so it's all good.

I go to the lunchroom instead, and no one will either make eye contact, acknowledge me or sit at the same table. Much the reaction I was expecting I suppose, even the folks that support me don't want to get in the middle of this, can't say as I blame them.

Yeah. More specifically, the defensive coordinator was a real piece of work. He carried around his bounty policy to multiple teams. He should be made unemployable... if the league is serious about player safety. You'd think the NFLPA might be a bit peeved, too. Sure, football ain't Tiddly-Winks, but paid assassins? That's pretty damnable. I hope New Orleans et al. get absolutely hammered.

From over at The Other McCain:

irth control is not all that Ms. Fluke believes private health insurance must cover. She also, apparently, believes that it is discrimination deserving of legal action if “gender reassignment” surgeries are not covered by employer provided health insurance. She makes these views clear in an article she co-edited with Karen Hu in the Georgetown Journal of Gender and the Law.
The title of the article . . . is “Employment Discrimination Against LGBTQ Persons” and was published in the Journal’s 2011 Annual Review.

Yup... Fluck is just a typical college student, all right. And Rush is now - after being stupid enuff to make her famous - grovelling to this radical scrunt that is now scorning him?

407 "IIRC, Rush doesn't write out his speeches and delivers them extemporaneously. So, the care you describe here isn't something he'd likely do under any circumstances."- KvC

Doesn't Rush have at least some sort of notes, some play-list, something to keep him pointed the right way?

I asked about Fluke's original testimony, because it looks like Rush attacked a false target (Fluke's behavior), when Fluke's credentials (She's 30, not 23; a known, exerienced activist, not a recent college grad; Fluke's Math And Other Truths, Fluke's friend's behavior, not Fluke's), shoild have been the real target.

424 Just a note on the Saints (as a screaming Saints fan)...

Few issues in play here. It appears that Gregg Williams was running the same program in Tennessee, Washington, Jacksonville, and Buffalo. Tom Benson told them to knock it off and they didn't.

Even though it's understood to be a fairly common practice (and not just in football; we did it when I was playing college hockey) in the league, someone finally managed to catch the Saints red-handed.

Tony Dungy said he had it on good authority that TN was doing it with Manning when he was coaching the Colts, and you'll notice that Manning's neck injury happened against the Redskins when Williams was coaching the 'Skins. And- full disclosure here- I grew up with the ManningSpawn, and there's a lot of bad blood between our families.

I hate to say it, but the Saints deserve the punishment that'll be handed down on the 25th... should be a big fine and a few draft picks.

429 So I'm just finishing up with my lunch when the Che T-shirt kid strolls up with a couple of his friends in tow. He's wearing a loud, godawful tie die shirt that looks like he pulled it out of the laundry hamper.

He looks at me and grins, and says "Well how about this shirt. Any objections to this shirt?"

I smiled back. "Well", I replied, "If you mean would I object to you wearing it of course not. As long as it doesn't have a picture of some filthy piece of human excrement on it, you can pretty much wear what you want. However I would point out that Jerry Garcia is still dead, so trying to dress like you just got back from a Dead Concert is a little obvious, don't you think? Also, you might want to wash that a little more often. I mean I have no objection to the shirt itself, but it does smell a bit gamey. I do appreciate the fact that you waited until after I was finished eating before coming over and asking for a critique. Not sure I could have finished my lunch if you'd wandered over before that."

He got pretty hacked off, I mean his intent was to embarrass me in front of a lunch room full of people and needless to say it failed miserably. So he leans on the table and says, "You know dude, one of these days somebody is going to catch you out in the parking lot and just kick your ass"

I smiled at him and replied, "Well, I won't be hard to catch at all. In fact I'm headed to the parking lot right now for a cigarette, you know, in case you and anyone you know wanted to discuss this further."

I got up and left. Strangely enough Che Shirt and friends didn't follow, and I had a quick smoke and headed back to work. Got back to my desk, my email was finally working again, and I opened it. Sure enough, half a dozen death threats sent to my work email account. I had a message from HR warning me not to discuss anything about the Che T-shirt incident with the group, with a really nice section that outlined their email policies. I read through them, and noted that I hadn't violated any of there guidelines.

I had an email from the HR director saying she wanted to see me as soon as I got back from lunch, so I grabbed the death threats I had printed from home and headed to HR.

Ask your Judge friend about grabbing copies (printed or digital) for yourself as evidence before they get disappeared. If the company sides with the tie-dyers (and I'm inclined to think they don't based on the vibe so far), the legal department will be looking to minimize future risk. That might mean purging certain communications or making them very "difficult to find" should a court get involved.

Posted by: AnonymousDrivel at March 05, 2012 08:38 PM (eHIJJ)

440 There is no double standard.

Letterman told a joke and apologized.
Shultz said a bad word and apologized (and was suspended by MSNBC anyway)

Limbaugh did not apologize. He doubled down. Then he tripled down. THEN he apologized. On his website. On Saturday.

With Limbaugh, it wasn't a simple comment. It was a lengthy argument as to why this law student was a slut. Why she was a literal prostitute. Compounding the issue is the fact that he apparently isn't aware that oral contraceptives don't cost more if you have sex more often. (perhaps he had them confused with Viagra?) He was also unaware that many monogamous women use birth control. He was also apparently unaware that many women use birth control pills for non-contraceptive purposes.

So he was also wrong. But mostly, he was rude. And sexist. And too pig-headed to admit it. If Limbaugh had simply apologized on Thursday, this would have (pretty much) blown over by now.

Posted by: Tami at March 05, 2012 09:05 PM (X6akg)

500 Ok, so I get to HR and naturally the keep me waiting for about 30-40 minutes or so, then I'm shown into the director's office.

She sits me down and we have a little chat. First she expresses her displeasure at my use of the company email to send an email to the entire group about the incident. She pushes a disciplinary letter across to me and says that I need to sign it, that it's going into my permanent file.

I look at her and ask, "Is the supervisor that sent out the email that proceeded this one to the entire group also getting a disciplinary letter?"

She looks surprised. "Of course not."

I read through it, then put it back on her desk. "I'm sorry, but I am not going to sign this".

She looks a little miffed, and says "You have to sign it, you have no choice"

I shake my head and say, "No, actually I do have a choice. Your form clearly states that by signing it I understand the nature of the disciplinary action and that I agree. I'm afraid that neither is the case, and as such I will not sign this document. I do not understand what specific HR policy concerning the usage of email that this response violates. I received your email earlier today in which you sent me a copy of all of HR's policies concerning email usage, and as far as I can tell my email didn't violate any of them. The supervisors email, on the other hand, clearly violates 5 of the policies you sent me, including the making public of private HR matters involving a 3rd party. A violation, I would point out, that calls for termination, not simply a disciplinary letter. So I cannot sign this document because I do not understand what policy I supposedly violated, I do not understand why someone that sent an email that obviously violates multiple polices is not being disciplined for it, and I certainly do not agree to any of the above."

She looked like she swallowed a mouse. It took a minute or two for her to regain her composure, and then she replied with "I don't think you understand, you have to sign this."

I shook my head again. "Well, the form itself states that my signature is used to indicate my agreement, which you do not have, so even the form itself indicates that I am under no obligation to sign the form. Also I would point out that state law on the matter is quite clear. If you were to use any manner of force or threat to compel me to sign a legal document, that would constitute coercion. I would point out that such coercion is illegal in this state and is considered a criminal offense that could result in either a fine or even jail time."

I got that "what planet are you from" look again. Then she said, "Well, this will be going into your permanent file anyway." I shrugged. "Not much I can do about that, however I will not be signing it. You should note however that if this becomes part of my permanent record I'll have no choice but to file a formal complaint, detailing how your policies are being selectively enforced since the supervisor who did violate your policy received no disciplinary action and yet I was singled out for such action even though I had not violated your policies."

I've played enough poker to know when my opponent missed their draw, and from the look on her face I knew that while she had started this hand with what she thought was a full house she realized all she was holding now was a busted flush. She tried to bully her way through though:

"I'm certain you will not want to bother the managing director with something like this, especially since you don't have any other write ups in your file. It would be much wiser to just sign the form."

I shook my head again. "Absolutely not. I will not sign a form stating that I did something wrong when I obviously did not. I also will not allow a policy to be enforced against me and not be enforced against someone who's actions were far more egregious. If I have to take that up with the managing director, I have no problem with that at all. If necessary I can clear my schedule and we can get the CEO involved, provided he might be interested."

Realizing that the "you don't want to bother the managing director" bluff had failed, she folded. She admonished me about my use of the email but decided she would "just let me off with a warning" this time. So I handed her the death threats I had printed out from my home email, and informed her that I had gotten these from people here at work. She looked through them for all of about 10 seconds.

"These were to your home email?" I nodded. "Well, we can't do anything about it if they were sent to your home email, we would only investigate them if they were sent to your work email. Ok, now I knew I had already gotten some in my work email but decided to hold that little tidbit back for now. I asked her about my monitor, and she said "Well unfortunately there are no cameras on the production floor so we have no idea who did it."

I told her the nail polish was pretty distinctive, but she didn't seem to be interested at all, so I shrugged. "Well, you folks own the monitor so if you don't care that someone trashed it I guess I won't worry about it then."

505 Hitler WAS a Christian. [Ultramontaine Catholic, for those of us not holding associate degrees in Bavarian religion, 1600-1900.]

And then in 1923 he went all "ecumenical", to get the Prussians on board. The Beer Hall Putsch was the result; the one which failed. After that he went whole-hog with the Germans as God's chosen people; one Deistic Creator; himself as the Prophet.

After 1923 you cannot call Hitler (of all fucking people) a Christian in any meaningful sense.

Hitler was a christian.

Although this is neither the time nor the place, you need a fucking "Nazism 101" class. Short version: Hitler considered Christianity the spawn of Judaism and thus the negation of the primordial Aryan religion, as exemplified in Nordic mythology. Once Hitler was done with the Jews, any residual Christians remaining were next on the docket.

534 I don't think people really understand Fluke's brilliance. She has created an entirely new class of despicable female behavior that there is no word to describe. We have "slut" for wanton promiscuity, "whore" for women who offer their affections in return for money... but what do you call someone shameless and impertinent enough to try to force others to pay for her birth control (against the most deeply held beliefs of her victims) so that she can have sex, of a particular sort and frequency, free of consequence?

Everyone is groping for words to describe the specific brand of shamelessness Fluke has created and they are getting excoriated for not being able to find the perfect word because the perfect word does not exist. But everyone knows the level of depravity we are dealing with here.

I have absolutely nothing against whores and sluts as both are useful to society and neither relies on force to complete their transactions but Fluke is an entirely different matter. There is no place for the likes of her in polite society and no civilization can suffer her type in the same numbers as we do other sorts of behavior.

Rush fell into the trap. He should have concentrated more on the "ignorant" part of the formulation than the "slut" part. Such has been the downfall of many a man.

549 BTH,

There were two strains of Pan-Germanism that existed before Hitler. One which played up the alleged Aryan origins of Christ, as in the works of Houston Chamberlain and one which played up the ancient Germanic religion as depicted in, e.g. Tacitus. What Hitler did was to use the former in public speeches so as not to alienate the Christian masses of Germany in his early rise to power, but he definitely based much of the Nazi Aryan mythos and public praxis on the more amenable pagan elements of the latter. Personally, I think that Hitler was more likely to be an atheist who thought that religion could be useful in molding the values of a society. I doubt he was even a Deist. Of course, Hitler contradicts himself over the period of years he was a public figure, saying one thing at one point and another at another, so some of where you come out on this question will be a reflection of what time period you are talking about. Notice that the troll is throwing out quotes from the early 20's, when Hitler would have been quite willing to lie about how much Christianity was a part of his vision for Germany. I know, it's hard to believe that a politician, much less one who would ultimately cause the direct and indirect deaths of millions of people, would like about being a Christian. I'm just as shocked as you.

Hitler may have strategically used Christian rhetoric in his rise to power, but thinking that he was actually a Christian is deranged. One of the major points of Christianity is that the spirit transcends the bodily material world and if there is anything the Nazis believed, it was that the bodily material world of genetics and race determine our lives.

550 Ok, so, it's between 2 and 2:30 when I finally get back to my desk, my new monitor is in place and ready to go, I fire up the computer and forward all of the death threats I got in my work email to HR - to the HR general email account, as per their policy on such things.

Most of these are pretty much copies of the same ones I received at home, with one or two additional emails. One worth noting however, was signed "twilight fan", and he/she/it had promised to come over to my house one night, "creap" into my bedroom and drain me of all my blood as I slept.

It was at that point that I truly appreciated the artistry of the vandal that had written the word Racist on my monitor. At least they had taken the time, energy and effort to spell it correctly. I had to acknowledge that it was nice that at least one of these loons put a little effort into it, and my vandal didn't even have easy access to a spell checker. Sigh.

Ok, so I forward this stuff to HR, and try to get a little work done. I get an email back from HR not more than 20 minutes later, stating that they didn't find any of these threats credible or worthy of investigation. Ok, so this is why I waited and forwarded them the emails - I knew they would respond via email, and now I have a documentation trail. I save there responses, upload them offsite to my ever growing pile of documentation, and respond back.

"Dear HR:

I recently forwarded you 7 death threats I received in my work email. I was sent a reply that you refused to investigate because after reading the threats, you found them to "not be credible". Each of the threats in question describe the manner in which they plan to kill me, the location in which my murder is to take place, and the time of day in which they plan to carry out there attack.

Since I'm assuming if my corpse is found slumped over the hood of my car one night that someone will hopefully call the police and they will take over the investigation at that point, I would point out that at this stage the fact that these emails would finally be investigated would be of little solace to me, or my family.

I was wondering if perhaps you could provide me with official guidelines on what exactly makes a death threat "credible" enough to warrant investigation, as I would very much prefer not to be murdered in my sleep, or otherwise.

Sincerely,
"

552 SoS, don't hold back on the in house death threats too long. You need to get the company to acknowledge they exist. Otherwise IT will wipe them and leave you with some useless hard copy "fakes". You would have to subpoena the whole IT department to prove they were real.

As a non-lawyer who worked with lawyers, and worked with HR:

Your only mistakes so far were responding generally to the e-mail (understandable but should have gone to supervisors and HR), and playing footsie with the soon-to-be-former co-worker (unless that place is pure corruption).

Neither of those mistakes come *close* to the level of mistakes your employer is making. Unless some VP+ levels come down on that HR lady, the supervisor and the crackhead shirt guy ASAP, you will fucking OWN them in court.

Discrimination, check
Hostile work environment, check
Fostering a hostile work environment, check

There were witnesses to crack-shirt's tirade, I assume? That implied threat is enough to get someone fired anywhere but a New York School District.

HR making excuses about the vandalism signals she's on the vandal's side. I would be tempted, as a boss, to fire her for that, or at least scare the shit out of her. I would be *HORRIFIED* if employees of mine acted the way your supervisors and HR dept have.

The one thing I agree with is blocking (temporarily) your e-mail, because I imagine they're all in agreement that should have been kept private and you should have lodged a complaint with HR about the abuse of policy. It *still* might not have worked, but in their drug-addled eyes it makes you a "participant" rather than a victim, and nothing scares liberals quite like victims who stand up for themselves.

The sad thing is that your bosses are now thinking of *you* as the one giving them heartburn, whereas it's actually the Lord of the Flies gang of lefties they're letting run wild.

I feel sorry for them because I know what it's like, but if they don't man up and do the right thing, I hope you kick their asses in court.

Because if they are *not* going to do the right thing, their lawyers are advising them now to fire you and settle out of court for wrongful dismissal, because it's cheaper than standing up to *actual* troublemakers.

Be glad it wasn't a woman wearing the shirt, or they'd just stamp the file "sexual harassment" and lock you out.

599 Depending on the employer, they may not relish the publicity of a wrongful dismissal suit. If they have DOD or government business, I guarantee they would not want publicity or congressional scrutiny. SOS, understand this point. The company actually has more leverage over the people who broke policy (and probably the law, both labor and criminal). Firing them could be tempered by no prosecution. They have nothing similar on you at this point. Be aware of setup situations. Try never to be alone with anyone. Get there, go to work, get in your car, and go home. Pretty much explains why and how I went off the deep end - lol.

As to the potential of a lawsuit, sure, it's there. But I'm not doing this for a lawsuit, I'm doing this because of the principle involved. Don't get me wrong, I am covering myself legally, spoken with a retired judge who's an old family friend, etc.

Basically his take is the more rope I can give them to hang themselves with, the better. So I'll keep "playing the game" for now and just see how deep the rabbit hole goes. If I get terminated, my first stop will be to a lawyer the judge recommended.

No worries folks, everything is being documented that can be, and I'm covering all the bases as best I can.

628 SOS:

First, kudos on how you're handling all of this.

Unfortunately, from my experience, I feel compelled to caution you on two things:
1. You likely already know, but you've definitely got a target on your back with your company. You're 100% in the right, but in most cases, that doesn't' matter much (depends on what state you live in, what industry, etc.). Long story short, an employer doesn't need a reason to fire you. You'll win your unemployment claim and that is likely the reason that you still have a job. Once HR figures out a way around that (or thinks they did), they will likely give you your walking papers. I'd expect something along the lines of 'insubordination' to be the excuse. Get your resume ready.

2. Wrongful termination, Hostile Work Environment, etc., in most cases, do not cover incidents like this. (varies state-by-state, but Fed version doesn't). In most cases, statues are limited in scope to race, gender, marital status, religion, etc. (protected characteristics). As wrong as the other's in this situation are, they have not violated any protected characteristic (again, varies by state). Short story, even though you're right and you're doing everything correctly, there's probably not much of a lawsuit in this for you (again, check your state specifics and, perhaps, civil case law in your area). I wouldn't recommend counting on any lawsuit income.

Yup, it sucks. Liberal retards sue all the time when they get fired for not showing up for a week and not doing anything when they do show up, claiming racism, sexism, etc. (again, protected characteristics). And they win. But remember, Liberals write these laws for their own benefit. They were never intended to deal with legitimate problems.

They must've stolen it from Mooch. She's got tacky down to an art form.

630 Rush (and other conservatives) are plenty capable of fighting back.

They don't.

Insteads, the best they muster is to whine about double-standards and unfairness.

The end.

631 Ace, FWIW, you guys are steppin' up lately and I'm grateful. And I apologize for giving you shit. Keep up the intensity and the creativity. You got an outside-the-box style that's unique.

thanks for playing though.

634 The thing that these intellectual heavies cannot or will not understand, even KP, is that these men aren't "pro-woman" in any way. It is not "pro-woman" to advocate or support abortion. In fact, it's the easiest and laziest way out of having to formulate an opinion on a big issue. It has nothing to do with the woman at all, but the overriding inability of these "men" to make a hard decision, much less the hardest decision of accepting the consequences of one's actions. Supporting the feminist mindset is the height of immaturity, lazines, and self-centeredness. And these irresponsible guysuse this "rational"on idiotic women, as though they are all aboutwomen's "rights" and "choices."

635 There may have been a Randi Rhodes down the line, I don't know..I quit watching wrestling after the Von Erichs, but I do believe you might be thinking about Dusty Rhoads.

SOS? Really gotta change your handle dude! Stupid, you aint. That's sure 'nuf a fact.

You are a good man. All of the other financial reasons that have been mentioned here are of some consideration, but I do recognize why you are doing what you are doing. I had to do the same thing once upon a time in the not to long ago. I won. Not so much monetarily wise, although there was a nice settlement, but I maintained my job, and the company was overhauled. Made it much nicer to work there all the way around without being worried about getting keel-hauled around by H.R. and other assholes. Also made it nicer for others to work there after I left 12 years later.

God bless ya Sir!

637 I can't do much about it but on any side of politics, I'm sickened the top way of making a woman you revile or despise ridiculous, is to crack some revolting sexual jokes about her or to screech the usual vicious female slurs.

The hideousness of lefty hypocrisy is nearly as sickening. Nearly.

Posted by: Sarahw at March 05, 2012 11:06 PM (LYwCh)

638 He can't do that, Sarahw. It is immediate grounds for dismissal under company policy. Same with recording devices.

I have worked in a secured company. Very strict about this.

Dude. What about the death threats? Isn't something like that against employment policy and can be looked at as the company being in the wrong if SoS is fired for this?

I'm not being flippant, I'm not a lawyer, I just think his case is already so over the top bad for the company that to me its a no brainer that if he's fired he has a case if he has documents detailing the threats.

Posted by: Some guy you don't know in Wisconsin at March 05, 2012 11:13 PM (QK1XT)

640 Some guy, of course he has a case. But that wasn't his motive for doing this. He has taken precautions, and stated he can pretty much take care of himself. He is approaching this in a realistic, but cautious way, and has legal advice and representation if need be.

Me thinks he's going to be ok on this. :-)

641 Distractions and retractions.

It's what the leftists want. They got nothing else.

Posted by: currently at March 05, 2012 11:52 PM (flA6l)

642 Again, I have said it before. For the left, its not about stoping misogyny, its about attacking conservatives.

Your argument is defective. Limbaugh made it clear early on that the extraordinary costs Fluke stated required some explanation. No widely used oral contraceptive could account for such a bill. But the use of one-shot expendable devices such as condoms, sponges, etc., could explain it if there was an extraordinary frequency of usage.

On this basis Limbaugh was giving Fluke the benefit of the doubt and not saying she was outright lying about the cost of contraception. If you don't assume lying than another explanation is required.

But perhaps Rush was going to fast for you and you couldn't keep up. But he only has three hours including commercial breaks and you cannot explain slowly enough for some people. As you've well demonstrated.

Which is funny considering this bunch's remarkably low requirement for making a campaign contribution via credit card on Obama's site during 2008. Including turning off the default security check most off the shelf credit card processing software includes.

645 "If Limbaugh had simply apologized on Thursday, this would have (pretty much) blown over by now."

Exactly.

Posted by: Nancy Pelosi Girl Power at March 06, 2012 01:37 AM (8HhF2)

646 You know, it's funny. Back in the 70s, when Dan Ackroyd said, "Jane, you ignorant slut," it was a huge laugh line and became a catchphrase invoked a zillion time ever since.

So, if Rush had included the ignorant part, would everything be swell? Or does that only work after midnight?

Posted by: epobirs at March 06, 2012 01:40 AM (kcfmt)

647 Dan Ackroyd is a ladies' man who every liberated woman can admire. Rush Limbaugh is a big fat meanie with smelly cigar breath. So no.

Posted by: Nancy Pelosi Oh Heavens! at March 06, 2012 01:50 AM (8HhF2)

648 Unlike Ed Schultz, Bill Maher and MSDNC's understandable reactions, Limbaugh did not simply use a slur. No, what he did was a premeditated act of sexual violence. A near-verbal rape, I daresay.

now try to forget that i'm the guy who used to write smart anti-feminist articles back in the '90s. i just did that to try and get in with the kool konservative kidz.

Have you seen Dan Ackroyd recently?

Posted by: epobirs at March 06, 2012 02:15 AM (kcfmt)

650 Rush shouldn't have apologized at all. In doing so he simply admitted he was wrong and gave the Left more ammunition against him. And anyway, why would they even care if he apologized or not? They sure as hell don't seem to.
