| Chimichanga? Was it a "great line" in the first place? I get it, though. Because no Republican in any position of prominence could have used Dana Milbank's lame line -- "All [Democrats] have to offer Hispanics is the chimichanga" -- without experiencing two months of fake, ginned-up "outrage." Liberals, by definition, are not racist. So if a comment comes along that pushes a stereotype, you must have just misunderstood. Conservatives, by definition, are racist. So if a similar comment comes along, that's proof of the racism. But I don't know if doing the same thing in return helps us at all. But "I Might Have Tacos" Is Racist? The nuanced decisions they make! I assume the mayor there who said "I might have tacos" as his suggestion for Latino outreach must be a Democrat, as MSNBC studiously refuses to identify his party. Nope: Rocks says he's a Republican. So, if a Republican says something similar he gets a national campaign directed against him. Jim Messina doesn't even issue an apology. Thanks to @rdbrewer4 Comments1

Yeah nevermind the fact you are far more likely to see a Chimi served in the US than in Mexico and that only two Mexican states favor the Chimi as cuisine, a far cry from the whole of Mexico. What is essentially US Mexican food now represents the whole of Latin America all the way to Argentina. It's plugging two horribly inaccurate stereotypes that all Mexican's eat food like we find in US Mexican restaurants AND all Latin American's are Mexican. If advocacy groups can't find it in themselves to get upset at that. F* em. They F*ing turned in their race card. The American Spectator has a nice article looking at Romney and Santorum.
http://tinyurl.com/87vg89d More to the point, Romney was the architect of the prototype for Obamacare. Aside from jobs, that invasive law will be the number one issue in the campaign this summer and fall. Not the prescription drug benefit. Not No Child Left Behind. Not earmarks. Not labor unions. Underestimating the value of having a candidate with a clear record on Obamacare can't be overstated. Romney doesn't have it. Santorum does. To be fair, libertarian commentators have harshly criticized Romney, and rightly so. But in a face-off between Santorum and Romney, I frequently get the picture that they would much prefer the latter -- even though Romney's policy sins are far more grievous and substantial. Also, whyare Mexicansthe only Latino group that we don't want to offend? It's not like there aren't a few dozen different hispanic ethnicities, none of which particularly like each other. My half-sister's husband was born to Cuban parents, and boy oh boy, do NOT call him Mexican. Or Puerto Rican for that matter!
If I were a Latina, you know what would offend me? Hugo Chavez. Fidel Castro. Noriega. The Zetas. Brazilian street children. Che. Columbian drug runners. Prisons that are so poorly managed that hundreds of prisoners can burn or suffocate in their cells during a fire because no one can find the keys to let them out. You know. Stuff like that. You can't win this game by *playing* it.
You have to demonstrate that it's a game, and that the people playing it (Democrats) are just cynically using people (particularly minorities) to gain power, and *that is all*. The aforementioned police chief who was asked what he would do for the hispanic community should have said "the same thing I do for every other community - enforce the law as fairly as possible and provide for public safety - and I'm offended at the suggestion that I should treat some people differently based on their race." You have to pull the rug out from under them, because that's what they're planning to do to you if you try to stand on it. Hispanics are not some monolithic voting block. Cuban/Puerto Rician/Phillipino Americans don't necessarily have the same angle of approach to the American Dream as Mexican/South Americans do. While they may all be largely Catholic and have largely Catholic values they don't share the same views or hurdles to obtaining American citizenship. The hart-hitCoach Outlet eastern suburbs of New Zealand's third-largestCoach Outlet city are in even worse shape, says Leanne CurtisCoach Outlet Storeof the Canterbury Communities' Earthquake RecoveryCoach Factory Outlet Network, a citizens' advocacy group. "It looksCoach Outlet like a bomb site," she says. "It's very gray, Coach Outlet Onlinevery ugly. It's dirty. It's uncomfortable."
