Governor Scott Walker Gets Decent Numbers In Advance of Recall Election

CAC writes in an email, regarding Walker's head-to-head numbers with a variety of potential Democratic rivals:

Scott Walker (R-inc) 50%
Tom Barrett (D) 44%

Scott Walker (R-inc) 49%
Kathleen Falk (D) 42%

Scott Walker (R-inc) 49%
David Obey (D) 43%

Scott Walker (R-inc) 50%
Tom Cullen (D) 40%

Of these Obey isn't likely to run himself though he hasn't ruled it out. Numbers from Marquette U- PPP was showing a trend in favor of Walker last year ending with a final WI 2011 poll giving Walker a narrow edge, that apparently has expanded significantly.

They also polled Obama-Romney and found Romney trailed Obama by 8. Mind you in January 2008 McCain who lost the state by 11 was leading Obama, also Wisconsin was a very close loss (and polled so) in both 2000 and 2004 for the GOP.

Walker seems more and more likely to survive the effort by unions to out him.

The article on the poll is here.

Brian writes to contrast Walker's approval numbers (51-46) with Gray Davis' (20-70). Gray Davis lost that recall, of course, but look at those numbers.

Walker's numbers seem to be improving. Let's hope they improve further.

18 The Walker race is the Most Important Race in 2012. Not the presidential.

I know getting Obama out is important, but the policies he advocates will be advocated by Democrats for every election to come. If Walker survives, public sector unions are not coming back to Wissconsin. If he wins, other states will have the courage to follow.

The biggest burden on local taxpayers and school property taxpayers across the US is government salary and benefits. Especially for schools. Eliminating public sector unions is the most direct way to control taxes (not to mention cutting the legs out of Democrat campaign funding.) It's a game-changer.

As it is the libs that are still there are "certain" Walker is going to be beaten, and then go to prison.

21 Just wait until the hand picked union candidate is introduced to the voters of WI via the war chest that Walker has put together. Barrett wants so badly to run again but the unions won't back him.

When we get another hand picked union lackey Dane County leftist (my bet is on Falk) as the opposition the election won't even be close.

So all of these people all about the recall are going to have to accept
what the unions decide even though politically their main point of
complaint is now a dead issue. Even the Democrats know it. They aren't bitching and moaning about Scott Walker and collective bargaining anymore...now its job losses over the last 6 months.

All that's left of this temper tantrum is the voters sending the whiners to bed for a good long nap...preferably 7 more years.

Her dad is a retired construction supervisor and she is married to a man who works non-union. Let me tell you, there were some great arguments to be heard the last time I was up there and engaging in Wisconsin's apparent state pasttime, beer drinking.

104 The video of Biden doing an Apu accent over on WZ is, uhh, amazing. Yet another for the "if a Republican did it it'd be raaaaacist" file.

106 This is why they will lose- who wants to be associated with this type of behavior? This is from the Capitol Times on the profanity, screaming, obscenity of the protesters at Governor Walkers address.

“There’s a live one!” someone shouted as Rep. Joel
Kleefisch, R-Oconomowoc (also Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch’s husband),
strode past on his way to the bathroom.“Shame!” shouted Jeremy Ryan, the executive director of a protest group called Defending Wisconsin. As Kleefisch passed the crowd again later, a young woman taunted him. “Your wife’s a f— whore!” she screamed.

107 They had old retired union people on Campus last December getting everyone they could to sign. Including foreign exchange students who are here on a student visa and have no real idea what they are signing.

108 The real Wisconsinite voters (those that sit in the cold to watch football) will turn out to bitchslap all those drum-pounding immature adolescents from Madison back downinto their mothers' basements.

109 I predict that Walker will beat the recall effort but it will be far too close given the reality of what he's done for the state and the nature of the radical freaks trying to destroy him.

111 You are talking about a recall election in a deep blue state with many union thugs and lots of union money. Sounds like the standard receipt for DNC/Union corruption.

oh wait. They failed. Because the Republicans are in charge and aren't letting the Madison fraud machine work anymore.

113 In this case, you have the unions, the Democrats, and every Left-Wing funded group blasting a governor who has actually turned around the state to make it better. Even the Dems knew that Gray Davis was a f**k-up and needed to go.

Of course the whole recall race for the replacements was nothing more than a circus with Mary Carey, Angeline, and Gary Coleman as candidates. The serious candidates like Tom McClintock got screwed.
