Obama: America Has Gotten "Lazy," "Soft," and Lacking In "Hunger," So That's Why I Spent Three Years Massively Expanding The Free-Money Sloth-Breeding Welfare State, And Penalizing Industry and Ambition

Wait, what?

The beatings will continue until morale improves, or the country simply implodes. Whichever.

We have a lazy and incompetent government. The belief that piles of taxpayer money can solve any problem, by purchasing a first-class bureaucracy to generate a blizzard of official paperwork, is inherently lazy. The childish belief that America is pockmarked with problems only government can address, and only spending from Washington counts as “caring” about an issue, is the laziest belief a person could possibly have. Supplication is easy: just open your mouth and wait for it to be filled.

Obamanomics is based on the ironclad belief that government knows best, and has a sacred responsibility to strike down incorrect judgments from the free market. Of course someone who thinks that way won’t be much of a “cheerleader” for the economic liberty his hapless people cannot be entrusted with. On the other hand, someone who holds the health opposite of Obama’s beliefs can’t help but have stars in their eyes when they look upon their marvelous nation.

It will be great to shove Obama and his government out of the way next year, and teach him just how wrong he is about the United States of America.

Everyone knows that a populace gets lean and steely-hard when all of their troubles are taken care of by a Big Daddy when they don't work, and when Big Daddy takes their stuff when they do. I mean, that's just Economics 101.

Get your work on, slackers.

In related economic news, the economy slopes gently away to the right with some tricky hills just before the cup as you approach from the left.

Know what my son did for his community service hours this summer? He was already a lifeguard on a military post. He donated 40 hours of sitting for the physical training and the physical therapy of troops. (I steered him there because I didn't want him working in the homeless shelter--long story). The golf courses are there for similar reasons. In fact, big posts like Ft. Bragg have 2 courses. The military and their families can't afford many things that those on the "outside" can afford but usually land usage is not a problem. If the land is already there, a golf course is actually a relatively inexpensive thing to have on it. It's good exercise and is good for morale.

Golf courses, PX/BX facilities, gas stations, etc., are on base for a reason. It reduces the payroll for all versus the number of personnel who actually use the facility.

The alternative would be well received by the military. By an act of Congress, readjust all salary levels commensurate with equivalent civilian employment.

The true impact of this decision would be reflected in pension expenditures. With the earliest retirement at 20-years of service, it would be a monetary nightmare for those paying the bills, and that's the taxpayer.

Golf courses and other amenities on military bases are a small price to pay for benefit received.

And lets look at some of the lower income tax redistribution gimmicks. I will start with a favorite - the Earned Income Tax Credit. In 2004 (the last year anyone even tried to measure the impact and cost) it was estimated that actual EITC payouts were 34 billion dollars. Factor in that between 10 and 20 percent of those claiming were not entitled to the credit, and there is another 10 billion in cost for uncollected tax revenues. So, that means in 2004, the estimated cost of the EITC was 44 billion dollars. Bigger than any of the so called "rich" breaks you described above.
However, since we both want to eliminate tax wastefulness, erg, I am sure you will join me in calling for a flat tax.
