Ridiculously Amazing Time-Lapse Video of the Face of the Earth as a Satellite Sails Above It

And if that's not neat enough, some are claiming they see evidence the solar system lost a fifth gas giant, sometime in its distant past.

It's actually a complicated bit of semi-proof, about simulations of the early development of the solar system not working right unless a fifth gas giant, about the size of Jupiter, was once present.

Which is my way of saying "I don't understand it." Something about how the terrestrial planets and gas giants migrated to their current positions. You give it a try.

Thanks to Truman North and, I think, RDBrewer.

Normally, I have no respect for anyone on ESPN. Ditka maybe...but other than that....nope. However, I have new respect for Colin Cowherd.
Cowherd did a bit on his radio program about space aliens and asked the question "why do we assume that space aliens are so smart? Maybe they are just unemployed....maybe they have had Occupy Sector 9 now for decades and it hasn't worked out? Maybe the space aliens are no more productive than your worthless brother in law who won't get a job?"
By ESPN standards....that is actually a lucid, intelligent thought.

65 technically we are supposed to call Uranus and Neptune "ice giants", because they are made of high boiling point volatile compounds like methane, ammonia, and water. High by contrast with helium and hydrogen anyway. Astronomers call these compounds ices.

Below a certain size, planets lose their hydrogen and the rocks, metals, and ice is all that is left.
