The Obama Presidency - By The Numbers [John E.]

My latest infographic has "dropped" (that's what the kids say, right?). This is my second stab at creating one; the first was a timeline of the Solyndra scandal.

In this infographic, I took a look at various statements and promises made by Barack Obama (and a few others) during both the 2008 campaign and early on in his Presidency. These statements were then set against current statistics and those from inauguration day or 2008 for annual stats.

Open it up below the fold. I tried to keep the width down to avoid blowing up the blog. The larger version is available here. Feel free to embed it on your own website (just toss my Flickr page a link, please).

20 Excellent overall, but 2 points:

Didn't Stretch Pelosi make the idiotic comment about unemployment benefits stimulate economic growth?

In your unemployment graphic, you use the U-3 for pre-SCOAMF and the U-6 for SCOAMF. You should use the same for both. Granted, the U-3 is less dramatic since it's at about 9%, so use U-6 for both. I would imagine U-6 under Bush was very low.

22 So in essence the country is being robbed by a bunch of Chicago radicals. I think the greed will get in the way of the socialist agenda. There is a huge rift between the CBC establishment due to the fact the gravy train they have been riding for 50 years has finally been derailed buy this Chicago crew scaring the bear. Holy f*ck. I never saw that quote about how poverty was the issue that led him to a life of public service 25 years ago. Twenty-five years ago was 1986, the second term of Ronald Reagan. Without having any numbers handy, I could easily guess that we were at the height of our wealth then. And this bozo thought poverty was the big-ass issue.

Why didn't he join the Peace Corps or become some sort of missionary (what, doesn't that Trinity United Church of Christ have African missions?) or join Lawyers Without Borders and work to abolish agricultural subsidies that put African farmers out of business or -- I mean, he's so consumed with the tragedy of poverty that he goes to America's second city to tackle it?

A new ray of stupid every day. Someone ought to create a desk calendar of Obamanisms.

31 "I think old guard African American CBC will be a big factor in ousting Obozo."

I've been thinking the same for a long while. The CBC corruption fiefdoms are disgusting in terms of size and scope, but they are milked. Obama and his minions are trying to kill the cow.

The same goes for the unions and the venture socialists, but only the CBC can point out that Obama is not really black. The CBC needs to hang him out to dry soon if they want to keep their game going.

An excellent graphic that is scary as hell. As bad as those numbers are, the raw data is being diddled in order to reduce the magnitude of the SCOAMF's disasterous regime.

In the second quote bubble, "american" needs to be capitalized.

Also, perhaps, when attributing quotes, instead of saying simply "Barack Obama, 2008", go the extra length and say with absolute precision when and where the damning quote originated. ESPECIALLY when it originated with the liberal lamestream media itself!

The O-bots will, you can be sure, accuse you of fabricating quotes.

It's a lot harder when there's a full attribution along the lines of "Barack Obama, August 14th, 2008, _New York Times_, page A-3."

Those minor quibbles notwithstanding, this is beautiful work.

Republican Huckabee asked to run for president

Fri, Sep 30 2011
By Kim Dixon
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Mike Huckabee has been approached by conservative activists unhappy with the current crop of Republican and presidential hopefuls, sources told Reuters, but the former Arkansas governor said he is not seriously considering a run.

snip

After Reuters reported that Huckabee had been approached recently, he said he was unlikely to enter the race.
"I don't see it happening," Huckabee told Fox News, unless he said, someone presented him with 50 million dollars up front. "I don't see the pathway financially and organizationally, you know, to get there."

snip

A top official for HuckPAC, a Huckabee fundraising group, said there is no truth to the notion that he would jump in.
"The governor is still content with his decision to stay out of the race," the official said.

153 Bush left a $1.3 trillion annual deficit where it remains today.

Bullshit from beak to asshole.

2008 deficit $458.55B
2009 deficit $1412.69B

Guess which party and which shithead was in charge during 2009.

http://blog.heritage.org/?p=4210
http://www.fms.treas.gov/annualreport/index.html

President Bush expanded the federal budget by a historic $700 billion through 2008. President Obama would add another $1 trillion.
President Bush began a string of expensive finan璫ial bailouts. President Obama is accelerating that course.
President Bush created a Medicare drug entitle璵ent that will cost an estimated $800 billion in its first decade. President Obama has proposed a $634 billion down payment on a new govern璵ent health care fund.
President Bush increased federal education spending 58 percent faster than inflation. Presi璬ent Obama would double it.
President Bush became the first President to spend 3 percent of GDP on federal antipoverty programs. President Obama has already in璫reased this spending by 20 percent.
President Bush tilted the income tax burden more toward upper-income taxpayers. President Obama would continue that trend.
President Bush presided over a $2.5 trillion increase in the public debt through 2008. Setting aside 2009 (for which Presidents Bush and Obama share responsibility for an additional $2.6 trillion in public debt), President Obama抯 budget would add $4.9 trillion in public debt from the beginning of 2010 through 2016.
UPDATE: Many Obama defenders in the comments are claiming that the numbers above do not include spending on Iraq and Afghanistan during the Bush years. They most certainly do. While Bush did fund the wars through emergency supplementals (not the regular budget process), that spending did not simply vanish. It is included in the numbers above. Also, some Obama defenders are claiming the graphic above represents biased Heritage Foundation numbers. While we stand behind the numbers we put out 100%, the numbers, and the graphic itself, above are from the Washington Post. We originally left out the link to WaPo. It has now been added.
CLARIFICATION: Of course, this Washington Post graphic does not perfectly delineate budget surpluses and deficits by administration. President Bush took office in January 2001, and therefore played a lead role in crafting the FY 2002-2008 budgets. Presidents Bush and Obama share responsibility for the FY 2009 budget deficit that overlaps their administrations, before President Obama assumes full budgetary responsibility beginning in FY 2010. Overall, President Obama抯 budget would add twice as much debt as President Bush over the same number of years.

Accounting tricks were used to grossly understate the deficit in 2008.
Federal government debt increased by $1.47 trillion in 2008.
Source: debt to the penny
1 Jan 2008: $9,229,172,659,218.31
1 Oct 2008: 10,124,225,067,127.69
31 Dec 2008: $10,699,804,864,612.13
In the last 3 months of 2008 debt increased by over $575 billion, that's over $6 billion a day, equivalent to an annual deficit of over $2.3 trillion.
Conclusion: the budget had gone to hell before Obama took office.
That's the problem with these 'Obama And The Economy' graphs and such - the vast majority of Americans blame Republicans (for good reason), current and former, for the economic hardships. Charts like these just remind people why they hate politics, especially from the Right. They know they don'y have anyonw would running for president, NO ONE! 190 Wow this could be two or three really good ads for the 2012 race, if you can get video of him saying these things and just do exactly like you did here it'd be stunning.

191 My biggest concern is that the Alinsky teacher is using Alinksy tactics to bring our country down.

Maybe he isn't just a buffoon...maybe he is accomplishing exactly what he set out to accomplish...the destruction of the US as we knew it to be.

If he is supposed to be so smart (though we don't know that from any real data) then to me that is a more likely scenario.

Otherwise he's just an example of the Peter Principle taken to the highest seat on the planet.

193 Does anyone stop and think about these statistics?
Doesn't anyone take into account the current economic situation?
Who seriously thinks that the statistics shown are to blame entirely on the Obama administration? Just think of what economic mess the Bush administration left.
Obama is the first president in a long time who actually tries to involve the other party in making policy. You could, therefore, wonder what the republican influence on these figures has been.

Most people aren't going to understand the second graph: what exactly is "U-3" unemployment? Or "U-6" unemployment? Either explain these terms in the graph or drop the graph altogether.
Otherwise, this is a brutal and effective document.

197 "unemployment benefits . . . quickly flows from those who need help into local economies"

I.e, quickly flowing to those who need help from those who will soon need help.

198 You need to add some world standings stats to this. He's the one who said Bush made the world hate us. It seems like they hate us much more now, or are least not afraid to express it anymore. Afterall, what would he do about it?

Obama is the byproduct of
1960s left wing radicalism and extremis wearing a Gucci suit and tie. By the lucky fate of
his skin color, he was given a pass by those self-hating, guilt-ridden white liberals who would never have voted for him
otherwise. Had he been white, his associations with left wing radicals, domestic terrorsits, and
corrupt religious-facade communityghettoorganizers would not have given him one
minute of credibility as a Presidential candidate.
