Oh My: Obama Took Conference Call About DC Earthquake... While Remaining Resolutely On Golf Course

As Dave in Texas wonders, "Couldn't he have at least gone to the club house to get a briefing?"

And yes, it turns out Obama was in fact on the golf course when the earthquake struck.

But don't read too much into that, as the President is on the golf course an average of 9.4 hours per day, so the odds of him being on the golf course for any particular event are about 36%.

This SCOAMF doesn't know shit about jack, but when it comes to me-time, I admit, the guy is a past-master.

Because press conferences allow him to show his "leadership" skills. Like, taking softball questions and still muffing the answers. Or blaming others for his many failures. Or chiding the American people for expecting him to do something useful (or, better- accept that "do nothing" is the most useful thing he could do).

Of course the facts are that if she stays, she's weighed down by the big black cloud of this Presidency forever, and if she leaves she's branded as "a typical white woman" and a "traitor."

I think she's hoping that either President No-Tie, SCOAMFOTUS will turn it around, or that he'll have such a CF in something that she can make the break without the cries of "RAAAAACISM!"

Rick Perry (R) 46%

Mitt Romney (R) 49%
Barack Obama (D-inc) 39%

Romney has been running for president since 2007....Perry's been running for 10 days.

But the both say real good things!

There is a very little, but very cynical, part of me that says they're specifically using weak tea arguments to get the base behind him.

Such theory is predicated on them having something major to drop in the general campaign- which I just don't buy, since it's not like he's new to the public eye, so someone would have found it before now, and almost certainly before the 2010 elections.

Nevertheless, there is part of me that gets a little twitchy when they present this stuff as though it's the best they've got.

Well, I understand where you're coming from, especially after the crap we've all seen. And there's no mistaking that they will roll out something in the general, even if it is completely fabricated.

But Perry seems likeable. If he doesn't have to be too stridently ideological to win the primary, I think he'll pull enough moderates, including Democrats, to win simply based on his results. His charisma can insulate him from attacks, much as it did Clinton (not that I understood Clinton's appeal, but I do acknowledge it existed).

191 OK, Vic. For some reason I thought Perry's was new since CFG says they roll them out after the candidates announce.

It is relatively new and wasn't available when I first rolled out his eval. But their eval didn't substantly impact that category in which I had already rated him. (a negative in small government)

Every one of them starts and ends with more responsibility than a private businessman or legislator of any stripe. By default they should start a full letter grade higher than any non-governor.

Half of the shit that people have laughed at through the years I find offensively unfunny (for example, the only time I ever laughed at anything Chris Farley did was when I found out he was dead) but I have a few guilty pleasures like Judy Tenuta. I don't find Liebowitz's schtick funny but I also don't think he's a complete dumbfuck. Like I said, I think he's chomping at the bit to let El JEFe have it with both fucking barrels but he fears it would be ratings suicide. I think he realizes the comedic potential in what a dumbass the SCoaMF is but has to keep it bottled.

I think they politely told him to shut the fuck up or get buried under the prison for the rest of his life, or cop to a few of the mid-range crimes. And don't embarrass the League ever again or else.

They like a good scent trail. It doesn't need to be rotten, just strong enough for them to locate their prey. They seem to enjoy rooting on the bottom for frogs. The action and subsequent scent trail of a frog burrying itself on the bottom isenough to get them going...the fresh blood gets them really dialed in, though.

I love chicken livers. And they're so wonderfully cheap. Unfortunately, we can only have them occasionally because of the type of fat profile they have.

My favorite way to cook them is grilled. The prep is a bit tricky. Take partially frozen (to make it easier to handle) chicken liver lobe and a piece of scallion/green onion, wrap in bacon, hold together on skewer (make a whole bunch of them). Marinate in light soy sauce with dried thyme and grill. Tasty!
