Obama Releases Long Form Birth Certificate, Thereby Ending Controversy

I'll write a lot about this in a second. But here it is, in all is glory.

Of course I'm being snarky about the "ending all controversy." This will change some minds, but, as I was just saying, those who have invested emotionally in a conspiracy theory tend to have non-rational reasons for believing in the conspiracy theory in the first place. And, as they say, you cannot reason a man out of a belief he was never reasoned into in the first place.

Over on Free Republic -- not to knock that site, it's just where this is from -- many are proving that, just as suspected, while they were posturing as people who wanted "evidence," in fact evidence was wholly irrelevant to them; they had a conclusion that was untouchable by evidence as it was never founded upon evidence in the first place.

Blow to Trump? It’s blow to Obongo. The WH jackass is running scared. Corsi’s book is #1 on Amazon and won’t be released for 3 weeks.

The "Corsi's book" referred to is the huckster Jerome Corsi's book about Obama's lack of a birth certificate. Apparently Corsi's book will make terrific arguments about Obama's lack of a birth certificate, so strong that they will overcome the fact that Obama does actually have birth certificate.

Never say die, I guess.

In Fairness: I'm not sure that particular commenter is making the point I want him to make. He might just be saying that Obama is weak politically and his long-refused release of the birth certificate is evidence of his weaknesss-- what he had previously sneered at as beneath him, he now agrees to do. Apologies to that commenter if that's all he meant.

But omeone earlier wrote:

there are now two things wrong with line 20

the font of the “A” on line 13 appears different from the “A” in the date on line 20.

To which another Freeper, this one a bit less consumed by the power of a conspiracy theory, replies simply:

Yes, line 13 is by a typewriter. Line 20 is by a stamp.

Ah, but that's what they want you to believe.

I hope this madness is now over but I doubt it is.

Further Thoughts: So the birth certificate exists and furthermore didn't even have any embarrassing data on it, which might have provided a reason for Obama to refuse to release it. I began to think maybe there was something embarrassing, because the other possibilities...

1) He finds the entire matter an affront to his dignity and a pseudo-racist attack on his person, so he will not give in to such racism/affrontery.

2) He generally wants to give the right the finger and will not be bullied by their demands.

3) He actually wants the right to embarrass itself by talking about this and committing to it, consistent with the general belief held by almost all of the media that this whole issue badly damages the right by exposing us as crazy and/or racist.

...just didn't seem strong enough to continue this crap of not simply releasing a simple, standard, impersonal record. But I was wrong, as it turns out-- these were strong enough reasons for him to refuse to release it, as they're the only possibilities still alive.

So why release it now? The obvious reasons:

1) Because the conspiracy theory has become mainstreamed and viral, and yet Obama's poll numbers continue to fall and Donald Trump, Mainstreamer in Chief, is not suffering politically. Ergo, that whole idea the media had that this was devastating to the right isn't true -- so if the refusal to release it was based on that, well, that theory has been proven inoperative.

2) Because he wants to run against Donald Trump and doing this elevates Trump to "the guy who finally got Obama to release his birth certificate." This shouldn't hurt Trump too much -- many will give his hucksterism a more skeptical look going forward, but they were probably already skeptical of his hucksterish pitches -- and on the up side it makes Trump sort of an equal to Obama, in that at least he bullied him into doing something he could have and should have done two years ago. So, maybe this is Obama's way of elevating Trump and choosing his own opponent (63% of voters say they will definitely not vote for Trump, while only 46% say they will definitely vote against Obama -- obviously, this strongly favors Obama).

But I doubt that. It's too "movie-plot crafty." I never like these "four dimensional chess" reasons, where the actor in question is postulated to have the ability to think seven moves ahead in a real-world, flesh-and-blood chess match, perfectly calculating his opponent's next move and the one after that and the one after that.

3) The most obvious reason-- Obama is in fact politically vulnerable, his polls are dropping, and the birth certificate conspiracy theory is not, as the media and liberals kept insisting, somehow helping him by painting the right as insane.

Ergo, with many things going against him, he decided there was one thing under his control that didn't have to go against him, and so finally did the right, obvious thing.

4) My own dark horse suggestion: Trump whiffed completely on the birth certificate but scored a stand-up double with Obama's grades, and Obama doesn't want that subject being examined, so he decimates Trump Theory Number One to spray Trump Theory Number Two with shrapnel.

I hope that we keep on on that front -- I have the fervor of a recent convert about that particular religion (Testify, brothers!) -- but I suspect that most will not, and the media has an even stronger hand now in dismissing such questions ("The same people were pushing the birth certificate thing," which isn't true, but that's what they'll say).

Birtherism Is Dead; Long Live Transcriptism! Average Joe dubs the suspicion that Obama's grades aren't all that good "Transcriptism."

I like that term.

I am a newly-converted Transcripter.

Obama Shouldn't Be All High And Mighty About Jerking People Around: willow makes a good point.

Okay, Colonel Lakin was possessed of a false conspiracy theory. So... the response is to let the court martial proceed rather than simply releasing the document that would clear all this up?

What the hell?

I see that the 4th of August 1961 is a Friday which would make the time
of birth of 7:24pm a bit late to expect the entry in the Register to be
made that day. It is probable, like most places, that the entry is done
at a time to be agreed for the Registrar AND the father to be present,
this would explain why it was signed on the 8th of August 1961.. the
following Tuesday.

19 From a purely tactical stand point, they should have waited until farther in the Republican primaries to do this. Trump isn't a contender IMHO but he keeps the question out there as he tries to gain market share in the primary votes. He'd force the issue to be addressed by other primary candidates. Then, a few debates in, you drop this, still far ahead of the main election, and kill off whatever part of the field didn't disagree. Also, you keep the issue in front of independants during the Primary so as to try to damage the entire GOP brand just by the amount of time that gets spent on it. Politically, Team Obama just strengthened Karl Rove and everyone that called this a distraction while only damaging Trump. Some advisor needs to get taken to the wood shed over that.

21 As someone asking to see the birth certificate, I'm taking a "trust, but verify" attitude.

Okay, he's released it. Okay, to my untrained eye it seems legit. Therefore I will treat it as legit until someone with actual credentials and evidence beyond font-problems comes forward to debunk what was released.

I'll also point out that it verified that, by the Founder's understanding, Barack Obama is not a "natural born citizen." That fact isn't worth much, since no one wants to consider what the founders meant by that phrase, but it's nice to have confirmation all the same.

I'll also sort of agree with PJ- this was a "win" for our side. I could only see two reasons that Obama would authorize the release of his Long Form cert. 1: To truly damage a political opponent who had gone "all-in" on the birth certificate. Even Trump (the most visible "birther" currently) only said, "He hasn't released it, why not?" so that doesn't really work. 2: Because it was hurting him more to keep it hidden than to release it. I think that's where we got: when 62% (according to yesterday's Drudge headline) of the American people aren't sure you were born in the US, you're starting to have a real problem.

52 As Ace said, some will never be convinced by ANYTHING. So, in this sense, he gained nothing with them.

However....

For more than 3 years, Obama and his people have claimed that THERE IS NO SUCH THING as a "long form birth certificate." They claimed that "Birthers" were asking for something WHICH DIDN'T EXIST.

They were unreasonable.

They were CRAAAZZZY....

But it turns out:

THEY WERE RIGHT

Obama could have produced this ANY TIME HE WANTED.

And THAT is where I think that most rational people are going to end up on this issue:

"He could have produced this thing any time he wanted to. Why on earth did he let things get this out of control before he FINALLY produced the evidence that people have been asking for since 2007? That doesn't make any sense to me. WHY HAS HE BEEN WASTING OUR TIME?????"

I think that, at the end of the day, Obama actually winds up a BIG loser on this issue. He and his people have now been proven LIARS on the issue: they have produced what they said did not exist after wasting 3 years, millions of dollars, and tying up the court system wastefully.

It's a symbol of his entire presidency, and I think he will actually wind up regretting putting this out there.

I hope this madness is now over but I doubt it is.
This is about politics. If you put on your political hat for a moment you'll see that there are two reasons why Obama released his BC.

1. It was hurting him politically. These little things like "he's a muslim" and "where's his birth certificate?" are starting to add up and take a toll on his image.
2. The Transcripts. THIS is what Obama wants to avoid more than anything. He released another version of his BC in an attempt to stop the inquiries about his school records and the HLR.
We clearly have Obama on the ropes. The worst thing to do now is let up. Keep applying pressure. Keep him on the defensive.

Make the sonofabitch deny it all.

That's exactly how I read it. He's releasing this thing with no fanfare a few hours before the first ever press conference by Bernanke in which there is likely to be a bombshell.

Remember how the COLB was released? I think first on Kos and then a few days later on his own campaign website.

I have no doubt this was hurting him in the polls. Not directly, but it was increasing his negatives in the "secretive" and "pompous" and "asshole" categories.

Ace, the conspiracists will be out in force for about 48 hours and then will slink to the sidelines.

Frankly, I think Trump had a heads up that this was happening which is why you heard about the transcripts. The administration must have thought they could cut off Trump's line of attack, but he started a new one before they could make the big announcement.

69 I hate to say it, but the PDF really looks faked -- it just does not look like a scan of a document, or at least it does not look like the text and rules (lines) were scanned along with the green background.

Looks to me like someone scanned a document at low color depth (or at a higher color depth and then downsampled it) and then superimposed the near black-and-white scan of the text on the green background. Nothing wrong with that process per se, but it results in something that really looks assembled.

In any case, it does not matter. In his heart, Mr. Obama is not an American. It does not matter where he was born.

70 Not for nothing but: Is this really it?

I mean, they're calling it a long-form birth certificate? Is it? I'm not trying to be dense here but is this pretty much the same thing as anyone else born at the same time and place would have received?
The "African" as a race thing I've seen mentioned as not being a category consistent with the classifications at the time--is that true or more BS konspiracy?

Maybe it's 'cause I don't trust this regime. The crowd that can say with a straight face, "It's not a war, it's a kinetic military action" will lie about anything.

So, it is it? Why the hell make such a big deal about keeping it secret, why so many lies and excuses as to why he couldn't/wouldn't produce it?

And yeah, really it doesn't mean anything because the high school and college transcripts are more relevant. He'll say, "but I already produced my birth certificate and there was nothing there, so I'm not going to produce those." Keep hitting him Trump--it's quite entertaining to see the JEF find out "I won/because I said so" doesn't mean shit to people with real jobs.

Row grows over Obama's birth certificate

The right-wing 'birthers', convinced the President
was not born in the US and is therefore ineligible to govern, are
gaining strength. By Guy Adams in Los Angeles, Sunday 24 April 2011, The IndependentSo Obama's handlers respond this hump-day, afraid to wait for Friday's news dump. As if this makes Barry's dad a US citizen posthumously.

111 -So the birth certificate exists and furthermore didn't even have any
embarrassing data on it, which might have provided a reason for Obama to
refuse to release it. I began to think maybe there was something embarrassing, because the other possibilities...

The fact that there was nothing even close to embarrassing or weird on this BC shows that the Indonesian Imbecile was showing nothing but contempt for America and our institutions in his refusal FOR YEARS to release it, when it should have been demanded by 57 states that had his name placed on their ballots.

The reason, as I have seen it, why he refused to release this BC was because it was the Indonesian's finger in the dike of all the odd and problematic documentation that is out there. The BC was where the retard was making his stand. It was where he was extending the finger to America and our system.

It's nice to know that the Indonesian let Col Lakin go to jail instead of releasing this document (and others that are integral to proving the Indonesian's Constitutional eligibility - which is non-existent, as he was a dual citizen from birth and even seems to have picked up other citizenship along the way). That's a nice way for a CiC to treat America's soldiers ... as if they didn't deserve to KNOW that the CiC was, indeed, eligible for his command - which the Indonesian isn't, but that still would take the SCOTUS to rule on.

In the end, who looks bad for holding back such a seemingly innocuous (though important) document for years and possibly bringing the US to a Constitutional crisis, as well as affecting military readiness and confidence in the CiC? Does anyone think America really likes having been treated like this by a guy who co-sponsored a Senate resolution that had McShame cough up every odd document that they could think up?

Trump was never a credible candidate. But he could have caused real problems in the primary.

Fair or not, Trump became the face of the "birther" movement. His name is synonymous with the conspiracy theory. Now Trump, along with that theory, has been discredited.

If Trump runs, he will now serve a useful purpose - as foil for credible candidates wishing to distance themselves from the fringe elements of the party and establishing their seriousness on important issues.

During a debate: "I applaud Mr. Trump for having a popular celebrity reality show. But he is not a serious candidate. While he was spending his considerable wealth trying to get to the bottom of what the President's birth certificate said, I was busy putting forth a plan to rid this country of its devastating debt and out of control spending. But the question is what passport the Indonesian Imbecile actually used to get in (and that is something that no one seems to know) not whether it was illegal to go there as an American. There is also the question of what he was doing in post-coup Pakistan.

But really, its about time Mr. Osotransparent released this thing and stopped playing the games. You got to believe this is factual, because his presidency would absolutely be over if it was fake.

135 Kind of strange the way it was done. The certificate of live birth was printed on the green paper which makes it look fake. Here it is clearly a photo copy but on the White House web site it is on green paper and if you look at many of the letters they are outlined in white which makes it look like a photo shop. It looks like the green was added digitally after it was scanned. The press gets to see a version with the state seal emboss but for some reason we don't get to see a picture of that. Also, the White House named a pdf of it as long form but it still a certificate of live birth.

138 >>>82 I have a very similar birth certificate and in the box for "sex" there is a second line for "color." I think this one has been altered to remove that and type in "Male" where the second question would normally be. If you look at the "l" in "Male," it is not the same as the the letter "l" where it appears in other places. I still think he's full of shit with this thing.

This is exactly what happened with the short form. A bunch of people claimed x, y, and z suggested it was false, and thus began the whole conspiracy theory.

Then later it was proven, conclusively, that x y and z weren't true, but the conclusion lived on, and just invented new premises for itself. The next premise was "sure, the short-form one may be 'real,' but it's forged, deliberately inaccurate" -- show us the long form!

Just as predicted, showing the long form doesn't change anything at all. Because now people just do the same thing with the long form. x, y, and z make me think it's fake...

At some point you have to ask yourself if evidence is leading to conclusions, as is the path of reason, or if conclusions are leading to evidence, as is the path of magical thinking and irrationality.

142 All of this "controversy" is laughable. A couple of comments regarding the "questions" surrounding the authenticity of this document. P.M. - as was suggested by another poster, the form may have been pre-printed with "M." to speed completion of the form by manual typewriter much in the same way checks are/were often printed "19___" or "20__". Non-issue. Sotero vs Obama - the guy's father was named Obama and his mother didn't marry Sotero until later so why would his last name be listed as Sotero on the birth certificate? Signatures - they aren't even close! Compare the capital A and D, the lowercase a - non-issue. Certificate number - may be a simple issue of typing the forms based on taking the information from the top of the stack of an in-basket where the most recent might be on top of the stack which would/could lead to numbering not corresponding with birth times. Non-issue. Dates - my wife and I took 3 days to name our daughter (who was 4 weeks early) so there are several dates on her certificate. The registrar may not have been working the day he was born, may have been on vacation, or may only sign the things once a week. Again, not an issue. Security paper - look at the date on the bottom of the document - April 25, 2011. The document reproduced is a photocopy of the original on security paper that was certified on April 25, 2011. They don't hand out the original folks, they make copies and certifiy that it's a true and accurate copy of the original (look at what the registrar testifies to above his signature). When I requested copies of my childrens' birth certificates from another state, that's exactly what I got - photocopies of originals on new security paper. Nevermind that I have another copy for each child on different security paper that was produced earlier and signed by a different registrar. Another non-issue. This whole consipiracy theory is much ado about nothing.

148 It looks to me like the White House threw their friends media under the bus in more than one sense.

The talking points from media on this have always been:

1) he released it already! (something Shep Smith reportedly yelled on air this weekend, I believe)

2) what was released (prior to today) is the only kind of document Hawaii makes available

3) the original is lost/unavailable

It was always the media hammering talking point 2 that annoyed me, since anyone who has applied for a passport who knows the difference between a long form BC (with the hospital, attending physician, birthplace of parents, mother's signature, etc.) and what had been released by the Obama campaign.

Does this mean that all of the major news outlets, including Fox, were, ahem, wrong, particularly when it comes to the "he released it already" explanation?

Awaiting retractions. . . .

We know plenty about who Obama is without knowing what grades he may have received. We know Obama by his actions during the last two years. That is all we need to know. That is all anyone needs to know. This knowledge is free - it comes without any cost whatsoever.

This demand that Obama release his college transcripts appears petty, and stupid. The infamous "swayables" won't give a rat's ass what grades he got in college, and will view the whole thing as ridiculous.

201 Kind of strange the way it was done. The certificate of live birth was printed on the green paper which makes it look fake.

I got my original New York BC a couple of weeks ago. What they do is print the digitized file over a brand-new green certificate, which may be different from the original certificate paper it was printed on. However, the process preserves the original typewriter typeface and the signatures.

The point is that every other person running is asked for lots of these papers, and for those who don't release them, the press "finds" them (unless they are dems, but even most dems are forced to release lots of documentation). The Indonesian needs to be treated like a normal person who is occupying the White House, not like a China doll that no one can touch, lest it break into a million pieces and our cities explode in riots.
How are normal people treated with respect to these issues? Well, look at what official bodies moved to force McShame to cough up every relevant document they could think of. Look who was one of the co-sponsors for pushing that. Interestingly, the same dipshit who won most of his races by forcing releases of IRRELEVANT documentation and having the signatures on his rivals' petitions questioned and tossed out.Treating the Indonesian Imbecile with kid gloves is the most dangerous and destructive thing that AMerica could CONTINUE to do. People have to start talking, loudly, about what an idiot the Indonesian is (and he is a real idiot), how he was raised in a thrid world, muslim, America-hating shithole - where he did all of his elementary school and where his very personality was built ... which is why the Indonesian sees himself as the Avenging Angel of the Third World, brought to rain destruction and chaos on the US and the West (and there is not a single thing he's ever done or said that would go against that thesis).

I was really surprised, when, during the election, he said his foreign policy experience was better than Hillary's or McCain's because he had lived in the Middle East, and traveled to PACK-E-Stan that no one in the media asked to see his passport.

223 I'm also puzzled why fucknut didn't release this earlier. I had come to the belief that there was likely something embarrassing on it. My best guess was that his race was listed as white or the father as "unknown". Assuming this is legit then it still makes no sense.

Now the only viable theory seems to be 1) Obama lives in a left-wing bubble, so believed the conventional wisdom that the "birther" issue hurt Repubs, so he kept it alive out of, what he thought, was clever political jujitsu. So now 2) the polls finally burst the left-wing bubble and convinced him he was being hurt by this issue.

Definitely an asshole dick-cheese move to send good people to prison just so he could have, what he thought was, a useful political issue to label right-wingers as crazy, racist, paranoid "birthers".

Talk about stepping on the little guy for, in the grand scheme of things, a pretty small political advantage.

225 Some observations from a non-birther:

1.) This definitively puts the "birther" crap to rest. If you insist on carrying it any further then congratulation, you're well into "a missile hit the Pentagon!" territory. Enjoy life among the insane.

2.) This makes Trump look stupid, except for the fact that the man has no shame and will therefore probably just bluster his way through it and keep hammering on his transcripts. It ends his chances at the GOP nomination though, that's for sure. Good and good.

3.) This doesn't hurt the other Republican candidates at all. They all disassociated themselves from Birtherism already, and the issue is now out of the way early enough to be a non-factor going forward. Because Obama released this from a position of weakness (i.e. because, as Ace theorized, it really is hurting him in the polls or at least isn't breaking his fall), he used the bullet too soon.

4.) To reiterate #1: anybody who still clings to Birtherism after this is intellectually pathetic. Sorry doods, it's true.

230 Get A Mirror-- Or A Plan
"The Complainer-in-Chief just hijacked the airwaves for another moment of presidential petulance:
'Two weeks ago when the Republican House had put forward a budget that will have huge consequences potentially to the country. And when I gave a speech about my budget and how I felt that we needed to invest in education, in infrastructure, in making sure that we had a strong safety net for our seniors even as we were closing the deficit.
During that entire week the dominant news story wasn’t abut these huge monumental choices that we going to have to make as a nation. It was about my birth certificate.'"
So I'm supposed to feel sorry for him for creating a distraction not only once but twice with this issue because he's so petty and such a failure of a president.

236 Well, I for one am sorry to see this issue go. Yes there will always be the true Birther believers but for the most part it's toast. I seriously did think there was something embarrassing on the form though. It's clear Obama was just using this to give the media an easy label to attack opponents with. But as usual Obama held his cards too damn long. It was allowed to fester to the point that a majority of American would be unsure of his birth place and a guy like Trump could build a whole campaign off it.

Note to Conspiracy theorists: Want to take your theory mainstream? Get a celebrity to talk about it. It doesn't matter how crazy or how badly the MBM hates it they will cover the celebrity no matter what. This is why Trump was able to ride this issue while no regular politician could.

Now, on to the Transcripts!!!

If Andrew or even The Donald is reading here's the line:
There is no President in history for whom all schools records are known. It just comes out as part of the process of writing his history. Why is Obama waiting? Why not release those records now? What is in them that will be fine for us to know once he's left office but not now? I'm not talking personal things but simply courses taken and grades.

I am not so sure. The one constant with the left is their heavy self conceit investment that they, and all their friends, are smarter than everyone else. This is a required point of view to enable moral freedom to treat people like shit and feel good about one's behavior. Once they discover that their messiah is merely a C-student piker, the mask is removed. Then they are required to either self reflect on their biases and bigotries or better yet discard the used prophylactic messiah for another and repeat their pathology of self importance. (NOTE: My money is on the later; See Senator Kerry, President Clinton, Senator Clinton, et. al.). So are they swayable? - probably not. Are they scrambable? - most definitely. They would discard the WON as soon as all the myths concerning hime are destroyed. Being the smartest man in the room is their touchstone. Without it, they are reduced to concensus politics, which to them is icky.

254 Oh, and for angler:

The reason why it's perfectly okay to apply pressure about Obama's grades is the same as why the Birther stuff was surprisingly not hurting the Right: people right now are getting the weird sense that, pace your "two years in office" argument, they don't really know who Obama is on a gut level. Anything that calls into question the Narrative they were spoonfed during the 2008 elections is good for stoking that fire, no matter how seemingly minor.

Furthermore, the peripherality of this argument helps us: no major Prez candidate is going to be taking up this mantle, and it's not as if we need to reiterate the MAJOR arguments against Obama -- those are felt on a day-to-day basis at the pump and the grocery store, and are being thwacked at again and again by the GOP political class (as they should be). Let Trump, et al. keep harping on the phoniness of his achievements (especially since, unlike the Birther crap, I'm pretty sure this actually IS a sound thesis). It only helps by chipping away around the edges of the Obama Edifice of Mega-Genius that helps prop him up among a certain squishy portion of the population (i.e. "I may not understand what he's doing, or agree with him, but by gum he is a genius smart guy so I'll let it ride.)

It may be personally gratifying to insist that the media and others hold Obama to the same standards they hold others, especially conservatives. But it will not likely happen. And this touting at windmills, while possibly personally gratifying (and correct in principle) will not make any difference where it counts - at the polls. People who already hate Obama will cheer you on, but you won't hear one person say "Well, I was going to vote for Obama, but he won't tell me what grade he got in poli-sci, so he won't be getting my vote."

Personally, I think Obama keeping the birth certificate under wraps for so long was just part of a larger strategy of hiding everything, period. If all of his past is under lock and key as top secret mega-ultra his opponents aren't quite sure where to go fishing for the really damaging info. I disagree with this. Trump is irrelevant now. He has been discredited and any other information he asks for from the President will be met with mockery. I am not sure anyone cares what grades he got. The point is that he believes he is the only president that doesn't have to show this stuff. He's finding out that's not true.
Bush released his complete transcripts, his complete military records and his complete medical records. I don't know if anyone asked for his birth certificate although they asked for McCains which he released. Bush even got the added benefit of having people make up military records a week before the election.
Kerry got cute with his military records and never did release all of them and lost. He did release his college records though.

4) My own dark horse suggestion: Trump whiffed completely on the birth
certificate but scored a stand-up double with Obama's grades, and Obama
doesn't want that subject being examined, so he decimates Trump Theory Number One to spray Trump Theory Number Two with shrapnel.

I hope that we keep on on that front -- I have the fervor of a recent convert

I was thinking the exact same thing when I woke up listening to Glenn parodying about the hidden triplets and speculating about misdirection for the Fed presser. It is very possible that his Harvard record is a real vulnerability and O is using his BC as a gambit to disperse the attack as "just another conspiracy theory from the extreme right wing"
Trump does have an opportunity here though. I think the correct play is.
1. I am happy the President has finally released his BC and laid this troublesome issue to rest.

2. I think it would have been more responsible though, to have released his past records, including his birth certificate and college transcripts 3 years ago and avoided all of this speculation.

3. I trust the President now understands that many Americans want that kind of transparency, that a President who looks like he is keeping secrets about past events will be rightly suspected of either nefarious, suspicious, or embarrassing actions, and these speculative issues can be laid to rest if he is open and forthcoming about his past.

277 transcripts need to be pushed mainly as "why is the media so uninterested in them?" Way back in 2008 I checked out Occidentals web site. They don't have real courses the first two years. A bunch of seminars and writing papers. I suspect that Columbia gets those pesky core requirement courses out of the way the first two years so Barry never took any. I think he probably managed to get passable grades. Not the genius that the media spun him as but I'd bet an actual silver 'dollar' the grades wont be a bunch of Ds and Fs either.

The truthers convinced scores of people that the US government perpetrated the greatest mass murder of Americans in our nation's history. (How many Democrats polled believed that shit? Something like a third? Two fifths?)

The birthers were at least silly, and it was an issue you could have a lot of laughs with. The truthers are simply vile.

Yes, I'd agree given that "move away from" does not equate to capitulation to fraud.

This being the foundation of Obama, maintain the records on file preparing for Obama's Impeachment which by no means is limited to his lack of validity. But once Obama is impeached, during his prosecution have everything on hand for his removal from office. Although the Republican Leadership won't attempt to discredit Obama as they maintain with Pelosi "common values", maintaining all for the record still matters.

No, it's not a forgery. It's legit. And Joseph Farah is an absolutely insane crank. 307 From my point of view, I'm glad he finally released it.If he wants to make it a racial thing then have at it.

The release of this certificate should be the first of many issues that need to come to light for a proper vetting of the guy.If people had done this correctly the first time it wouldn't be an issue now and that includes McCain and his people.

Now as far as the birth certificate, put a check mark next to it and lets move on to his college days. Those who funded and greased the wheels for his acceptance into Harvard, any written papers and works to show his overall point of view etc..etc..etc.

It isn't prying, it's vetting and the guy had what will be a four year running start of having to go through that process come 2012.

I'm with Charlie Rose on the issue of Obama....."Who is Barack Obama, really".

There is now a record and many nefarious deeds that this guy has under his belt,ALL of it needs to be pounded home as Trump has done(I don't believe for a second that he is running).

As too the "African" under Race for Senior I too believe this is out of place. It is one of the things which led me to question, briefly, the short form. It's an odd term to use. Also, notice the "II" after Junior's name. Unusual but not an indication of a fake. If I had to bet I would say both the "II" and the "African" is there at the insistence of Senior. He was a Socialist and African Nationalist. He would consider Africans a race. He probably insisted that the "II" be noted too so that Barry was never known as a Junior. Senior and Junior is a Non-African designation.

The only thing Trump is worried about is his image and how many models half his age he can hit. If he won the Whitehouse it would make Clinton-Lewinsky look like amateur night at a Nevada whorehouse. In fact, Trump as POTUS would probably rent out the Lincoln Bedroom, replete with prostitutes and make it the next big reality TV show.

If you considered Trump as a viable candidate for President, the next thing you should consider is sterilization. Either that or moving to Transylvania.

Well ... it was Dan Rather who did make it imperative to fine-check all papers coming from the left. Before that insanity, I would hardly have thought to bother with such stuff. I'm satisfied with this BC. I think the innocuousness of it shows what a real America-hating prick the Indonesian is.As to his college grades, I have little interest in seeing them. I'm interested in his standardized scores, though I have no "right" to see them. His college financial records I DO have the "right" to see as they are necessary in establishing whether he is Constitutionally eligible or not. They cannot confirm it, but can serve as proof against. As he's admitted to holding other citizenships (on his own stopthesmears web site) and has used his years in nations as his qualifications for understanding foreign relations, there is no reason not to see proof that he wasn't saying that same sort of stuff in college (as in entering as a foreign student). From his own mouth, proof that he didn't try to pull the same crap in college (as part of getting in or financing) becomes a must - for establishing Constitutional eligibility.Other than that, if people would just start saying that the guy's an idiot and they can't take anything he says seriously - since he is such a fool who has gotten every single thing wtong thus far - then there would be no need to see any old scores or grades. But, since our cowards in the public arena won't say this (and it's so obvious as to be an offense to the intellect to ignore) we need to hammer the Indonesian about more standardized measures to replace our cowardly representatives and spokesmen.

325 I always thought the transcripts were the bigger issue. I thought, at worst, the birth certificate might've contained something mildly embarrassing, but nothing disqualifying (along the lines of the HillBuzz theory about his last name). However, I think there's no coincidence that this was released almost immediately after Trump started hitting on his school records. Obama had no problem holding the birth certificate back as a, er, trump card. But he damn sure couldn't afford to have his media-constructed Narrative™ of "Barack Hussein Obama, Super-Genius™" destroyed in front of the world. Maybe I'm wrong, but I still think the transcripts are where the really embarrassing stuff is to be found. To me, this move exposes that weakness.

Not to mention his ghost-written "memoir"...

Heh. But, not the first time the Indonesian's done this. Back when they were ramming the Porkulus through, Barky got up and said that the US would go straight to a fiery hell if this bill wasn't passed on Friday night, without anyone having read it (without a full copy even being available) ... and then he jetted off to a vacation in Chicago, to only sign the bill on Tuesday, in Denver (dragging the 2,000 or whatever pages all the way on Air Farce One) before a company that he had lied about regarding the porkulus and their hiring or firing!

The Indonesian's playbook is pretty limited.

331 Another thing to note about the use of the term African as race if it was at the insistence of the father. It's an overt way of showing his superiority. He may have felt the term Negro was associated with blacks who were born of slaves. One thing which doesn't get any mention is Obama's tribe is almost certainly one who would have sold blacks into slavery centuries past. Don't believe Roots, the vast majority of slaves were supplied by blacks to the slave traders. Slavery has always been a part of African life.

From a purely tactical stand point, they should
have waited until farther in the Republican primaries to do this. Trump
isn't a contender IMHO but he keeps the question out there as he tries
to gain market share in the primary votes. He'd force the
issue to be addressed by other primary candidates. Then, a few debates
in, you drop this, still far ahead of the main election, and kill off
whatever part of the field didn't disagree. Also, you keep the issue in
front of independants during the Primary so as to try to damage the
entire GOP brand just by the amount of time that gets spent on it. Politically,
Team Obama just strengthened Karl Rove and everyone that called this a
distraction while only damaging Trump. Some advisor needs to get taken
to the wood shed over that.

Barry's problem isn't his father's race, but his father's citizenship not being US.

That you've taken notice "suddenly" applies to yourself.

"Suddenly" does not apply to my argument that remains consistent through the years.

As per history, I've been an avid student my entire life, specializing
during doctoral studies reading 18th Century texts in English und auf Deutsch.

Were you to search your archives during the preliminary '08 potus primaries, you'll find my comments* relaying the scholarly research available online at that time. You'll see the reference sources being quoted with their website links. You won't undertake the effort, though. You wouldn't bother responding at the time, as the message wasn't of your preference. Subsequently, after the '08 election, I criticized attorneys who strictly limit arguments on the basis of convenience to the extent that they would shred evidence in order to evade the responsibility to recognize it and maintain it on record. That would mark when one must admit having become a revisionist, imho.

(Relationships with Khalid al-Mansour and Percy Sutton for Harvard acceptance, with ties toSaudi prince Alwaleed bin Talal and the Black Panthers---whichWH denies. Lots and lots if misspeaks with this guy Barry).

Plus his lack of writings and thesis revealed, as well as to his client history as an attorney, and why he gave up his law license. Did he have a dual passport/citizenship? He hid somethings to get elected and not branded a radical.
If he is so transparent he will release all, as he should have done with BC in 2008.
In the spirit of transparency, the LA Times needs to release the 2003 video of his dinner with PLO Activist and Columbia friend/professor, Rashid Khalidi. McCain requested it be released in 2008and the paper protected Obama. It is widely believed that he praised the Palestinians at the dinner, and maybe said something bad about Israel.
I am not a birther, but I do want some clues about this arrogant flapping wrist buffoon. The answers won't change my mind about him, as I still want him defeated in 2012. But I want the truth, as there may be some people who will change their minds about the community organizer in chief.

365 Hey, ace, before you get too snarky with some of us, using "African" as race on a 1961 form is highly unusual.

Now it's Hawaii, so they may have used different terminology there (easily verified by seeing birth certificates of other black children born there in 1961) but here in Indiana the term would have been Negor.

In fact, as late as 1968 when my son was born in a US Army Hospital in West Berlin, the birth certificate form had boxes to check which were "Caucasian, Negro, Oriental, etc."

In 1961 "Negro" was considered the polite and scientific term. This was pre-black power, African-American, or anything else.

Now it could be that Obama's father insisted on the term "African." Or it could be a clerical error. Or it could be what was used in Hawaii as a local term different from how mainland people talked.

But you don't need to get all snarky and act like people pointing this out are birthers and nutso. It IS unusual and worth of a moment of comment, although it proves nothing one way or the other.

So please realize that things are different now than they were 50 years ago, and some of us actually REMEMBER how things were then.

369 In case anybody here hasn't been paying attention: Obama is a liar, passing forged documents is considered a sport by Democrats, and examining a document for signs of authenticity/fraudulence is as important as having a document in the first place.
Things we know for a fact:
a) the MSM have been telling us we have Obama's birth certificate for years but today that is proven to have been a lie by the release of this new different document
b) Obama could have given us this document years ago but didn't for no good reason
c) Obama became an Illinois State Senator by having the field of contenders, including the incumbent, thrown out on technicalities*
*Obama challenged Palmer's hastily gathered nominating petitions and those of the three other prospective candidates. Nearly two-thirds of the signatures on Palmer's nominating petitions were found to be invalid, leaving her almost 200 signatures short of the required 757 signatures of registered voters residing in the Senate district; neither of the other three prospective candidates had the required number of valid signatures, leaving Obama, who had filed nominating petitions with over 3,000 signatures on the first filing day, as the only candidate to earn a place on the March 1996 Democratic primary ballot.Obama said that the challenges were necessitated by the obvious flaws in the challengers' signature sheets. "To my mind, we were just abiding by the rules that had been set up," he said in a 2007 interview with the Chicago Tribune. When asked if voters were not disserviced by a ballot with no opposing candidates, Obama said "I think they ended up with a very good state senator."

Aside from that, this gives us solid evidence of what we've said about King Barry all along: He's an absurdly narcissistic, petulant child, and this is evidenced by hisnot releasing this earlier.
I don't buy into the other kind of conpiracy stories that suggest that this was all part of some clever political calculation. Yes, the habitual distraction method prevents the public from noticing reality. Today's news marks the incestuous mingling of authoritarians merging our supposedly separate and limited branches of government into an amalgamated Beast.

The percussionist, reading the score, awaits for the correct entry to break the mounting suspense of silence. Given, "natural born citizen" is only one motive within the 2012 Overture. But then, remember as well that Schubert illustrated within his Unfinished Symphony how to utilize its "least significant" theme to provide the structural cohesion of his orchestral masterpiece.

385 Can someone give a reasonable explanation as to why most characters are a uniform color with sharp edges, while some are not uniform in color and have less well-defined edges. For example, the last 1 in the 10641 under "Department of Health" or the "M" in "P.M." under the hour (which is also a different size than the P). Just wondering if something in the automagic pdf scanner/maker would do this or not.

Okay, Colonel Lakin was possessed of a false conspiracy theory. So... the response is to let the court martial proceed rather than simply releasing the document that would clear all this up?

That's not why Lakin was convicted. Let me tell you how the military get convictions over regulation violations (this is how they taught us in Basic Training).

Take haircuts. In the long-haired 1970s, there was a great deal of resistance in the enlisted ranks to the military haircut. Creative people would find loopholes or alternative interpretations of the uniform regulations to say that they were in compliance with the haircut reg even with long, flowing hair.

If they persisted in their resistance to getting a haircut to the extent of forcing a court martial, they always lost. Why? Because they were never court martialed over the haircut regulation. Instead, somebody in their chain of command would give them a clear and direct order to get a haircut. When they refused, THEN they got court martialed... for refusing a legal order!

Now let's go back go Lakin. He makes a fuss about whether Obama is legally President and can't order him to go to Afghanistan (or where ever). The military skips by the whole birth certificate issue by having somebody in Lakin's chain of command issue a legal order to go to Afghantistan. He doesn't and he gets convicted for disobeying a legal order.

388 Even folks who give this thing the lip service of saying he should have done this earlier should be prevented from voting or owning guns or maybe even just walking around. If folks like the Virginia Tech shooter were clearly crazy and in need of being stifled, even in the eyes of the most ardent "Constitutionalists", so are all these.
The only thing the President should have done earlier is to have made it a practice to say, at the end of every public utterance, and paraphrasing Cato, "In my opinion, all of you should just kiss my entire so-and-so ass".

The founders were smart guys. If they want to include something in the Constitution they would have. They managed to make themselves quite clear without forcing us to look at their letters.

You do know for example that "Separation of Church and State" isn't part of the Constitution but from a letter Jefferson wrote. Unlike liberals, I don't think that binding on us.

So which correspondences count and which don't?

just like my daughter's and mine. Why are his questions different when
we were all born in the same hospital. Just askin...

393 Wacky meme for tomorrow:

Obama's long form birth certificate was OBVIOUSLY typed on the same miraculous model of type-writer as Dan Rather's 'fake but accurate' military memos concerning Bush's failure to satisfy his Air-Force reserve obligations.

The paper it's typed on was made from all natural Indonesian arugula fiber and was typed with with a special typewriter ribbon known to be frequently imported from Kenya by Bill Ayers and the Weather Underground.

Al Gore has often claimed that the production of these special Kenyan ribbons is responsible for rapidly accelerating man-caused glob..uh..climate change.

Analysis of the paper was found to implicitly support scientific speculation that Janet Napolitano is an ugly, barrel-cankled beast of a woman who can smell a right-wing protest..uh violent racist tea bagger terrorist from a mile (1.5 kilometers) away and only grabs the tits of little white girls in airport security to maintain public safety from the threat of potential attacks that such people represent to our (new, progressive, multicultural, entirely sharia compatible) shared values.

I mean THINK People! What if that little girl or her daddy brought a cross on a an airplane and some one saw it or they tried to prevent someone from getting a late term abortion or reported someone for being in our country without official permission?

394 Jayne, Drew M.: Indeed the Constitution says nothing about parents.

Chester A. Arthur's father was Irish born, and was not naturalized till Chester was 14.

Spiro Agnew's father was a Greek immigrant. So were the parents of Mike Dukakis.

The fathers of Geraldine Ferraro and Ed Muskie were both immigrants.

Charles Evans Hughes (Republican candidate in 1916) was born to parents who were British immigrants, not yet naturalized at the time. It was claimed in 1916 that he was therefore not a "natural born citizen".

The peculiar intensity of this issue for some people, and their attraction to legal claims never before asserted does suggest an unspoken and improper motive, deriving from a unique quality of the Obama case. That may be true for some, but there is a second unique quality which also contributes: unlike the cases listed above, Obama's father was never an American.

Even that doesn't really matter - his mother was, and he was born in the U.S.

But one can see why it would make some people crazy.

Also, the typer of Obama's BC tried to center each word in the boxes (sometimes not very well). The Nordyke typer didn't hardly try.

400 quotes:

THOMAS JEFFERSON
"I can't omit recommending a revisal of the laws on the subject of naturalization. ... The Constitution, indeed, has wisely provided that, for admission to certain offices of important trust, a residence shall be required sufficient to develop character and design. But might not the general character and capabilities of a citizen be safely communicated to everyone manifesting a bona fide purpose of embarking his life and fortune permanent with us? with restriction, perhaps, to guard against the fraudulent assumption of our flag; an abuse which brings so much embarrassment and loss of the genuine citizen, and so much danger to the nation of being involved in war, that no endeavor should be spared to detect and supress it. -- FIRST ANNUAL MESSAGE. viii, 14. FORD E., viii, 124. (Dec. 1801) [available online, The Jefferson cyclopedia, page 609, entry #5699]

The term Natural born Citizen appears in our Constitution, in Article 1, Section 2, with these words, “No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty five years, and been fourteen Years a resident within the United States.”

Before the Constitution the closest reference we have to Natural Born Citizen is from the legal treatise “The Law of Nations,” written by Emerich de Vattel in 1758. In book one chapter 19,

§ 212. Of the citizens and natives.

“The citizens are the members of the civil society; bound to this society by certain duties, and subject to its authority, they equally participate in its advantages. The natives, or natural-born citizens, are those born in the country, of parents who are citizens. As the society cannot exist and perpetuate itself otherwise than by the children of the citizens, those children naturally follow the condition of their fathers, and succeed to all their rights. The society is supposed to desire this, in consequence of what it owes to its own preservation; and it is presumed, as matter of course, that each citizen, on entering into society, reserves to his children the right of becoming members of it. The country of the fathers is therefore that of the children; and these become true citizens merely by their tacit consent. We shall soon see whether, on their coming to the years of discretion, they may renounce their right, and what they owe to the society in which they were born. I say, that, in order to be of the country, it is necessary that a person be born of a father who is a citizen; for, if he is born there of a foreigner, it will be only the place of his birth, and not his country.”

"Please note that the correct title of Vattel's Book I, Chapter 19, section 212, is “Of the citizens and naturals”. It is not “Of citizens and natives” as it was originally translated into English. While other translation errors were corrected in reprints, that 1759 translation error was never corrected in reprints. The error was made by translators in London operating under English law, and was mis-translated in error, or was possibly translated to suit their needs to convey a different meaning to Vattel to the English only reader. In French, as a noun, native is rendered as “originaire” or “indigene”, not as “naturel”. For “naturel” to mean native would need to be used as an adjective. In fact when Vattel defines "natural born citizens" in the second sentence of section 212 after defining general or ordinary citizens in the first sentence, you see that he uses the word "indigenes" for natives along with "Les naturels" in that sentence. He used the word "naturels" to emphasize clearly who he was defining as those who were born in the country of two citizens of the country. Also, when we read Vattel, we must understand that Vattel's use of the word "natives" in 1758 is not to be read with modern day various alternative usages of that word. You must read it in the full context of sentence 2 of section 212 to fully understand what Vattel was defining from natural law, i.e., natural born citizenship of a country. Please see the photograph of the original French for Chapter 19, Section 212, here in the original French if you have any doubts. Please do not simply look at the title as some have suggested that is all you need to do. Vattel makes it quite clear he is not speaking of natives in this context as someone simply born in a country, but of natural born citizens, those born in the country of two citizens of the country. Our founding Fathers were men of high intellectual abilities, many were conversant in French, the diplomatic language of that time period. Benjamin Franklin had ordered 3 copies of the French Edition of “Le droit des gens,” which he deferred to as the authoritative version as to what Vattel wrote and what Vattel meant and intended to elucidate.

409 BHO's latest doesn't pass the smell test! Speller is right: Show one other BC from the early '60's that lists "African" as the race of a parent!
Show any official document wherea son is named after his father and is listed as a "II" instead of "Jr". If you're named after dad you're a "Jr." ---I know firsthand, I fought that battle with some credit card companies!
Why is BHO's official BC number out of sequence? His BC was filed with the official Registrar a couple days earlier than the Nordyke twins, who wereborn a day later in Kapiolani, yet his number is higher than theirs? Can't they count in Hawaii?
Birth place of a parent is a city and state or country, not a country and direction on a continent: "Kenya, East Africa"? WTF? Does one say "Massachusetts, East US" asone's place of birth? How about "Nairobi, Kenya," which was Obama Sr's true birthplace?
Nope, the bunch who f*#ked up the originally-posted"Certification of Live Birth, fubar-ed this document as well!
Why can't I ever get lucky enough to have such goofballs prep my opponents' docs for their court cases?

This whole issue of Obama’s birth certificate is irrelevant,
unless Barack Hussein Obama is not his father.

He states in his book that his father was a British Citizen,
making him Constitutionally unqualified to be President of the United States!

Natural Born Citizen requires that both parents are
Citizens.

Native Born is someone born on US soil.

Natural Born relates to parentage, Native Born refers to
where you were born.

Barack has clearly stated that his alleged father was not a
Citizen; therefore, where he was born is irrelevant!
