Yep this ONT is gonna suck too. So tonight's theme is a valuable life lesson for all the kids and young-ish morons.Things Are Getting Worse or Better (Depending on Where You Are)
Believe it or not unemployment has gotten better in TN, MI, and MN. But VA and ND and SD are the places to be.
So they're encroaching on Philippines waters and attempting to ram their boats. Meanwhile they're also intruding into Vietnamese and Japanese waters. Why? Well mostly for establishing rights to undersea resources. And because they can.
Also North Korea is now jamming GPS signals. Good times, good times. Why Are Climate Monitoring Satellites Suddenly Failing?
And is it related to nuclear wessels?
If decadence and/or icky lady stuff bother you, then HEY LOOK A SQUIRREL!!!
Granted some of these are public policy degrees but even those guarantee at least nearly average intelligence.

I hope you're right about that. It just seems like the revolutionaries are having their way with anyone who's even mildly cooperative/deferential with/afraid of us. It's like the DS9 episodes involving the Mirror universe-we influenced our allies just enough to make them too weak to survive in that part of the world.

Hey, you are never too old to learn! For example, I learned that I shouldn't take too hot or too cold showers because it isn't good to shock my body, and that if I just continue to put make-up on during my period I'll be fresh and sunny despite the inconvenience. Plus having a period apparently has no effect on riding a bike with no hands! Winning!

Blasphemy.A good knife is a sharp one.. kept sharp and in good condition. Also, a good bread knife is indispensable. We have an awesome one that will cut through flesh like butter - so, dangerous if you don't know how to handle a knife properly.

Born in Anchorage, grew up there and in Kenai, still have family in Anchorage, Kenai and Fairbanks. With a little luck and a nice IRS refund we will be up there for three weeks or so this summer. My dad (81 years old) runs the Mt. Marathon race in Seward on the 4th of July, so we are hoping to be there for that. He gets his own age group so he always wins, but then we all have to get of his lawn.
Seward is a lot of fun, especially on the 4th. If you want to be in the parade, you just jump in there and march. Great fireworks and the sound echos off the mountains. Scares hell out of the dogs all over town.When were you up there?Oh, and you can order ulus from the Alaska Ulu Factory. I use a very plain one with a stainless blade but there are some very fancy ones. They traditionally have a one-sided bevel but some have two-bevel edges so they are easier to keep sharp. We were in Skagway on the 4th (2005). I got a big kick out of watching the locals having their town celebration--kids games and stuff--and completely ignoring the tourists.
Sadly, the boat left before the fireworks.We stopped at five or six different towns on the cruise, just a taste...I'd like to go again but spend two weeks in one area and really get to know it.

The funny thing is, I haven't lived there since 1991, but after one day it's like I never left. My husband is from WI, and the first time I took him up there, after about three days he said it was like the Lower 48 just didn't exist. I think it dawned on him one evening when he was flipping channels and I told him the baseball games were already over. That, and seeing High School football stories on the front page of the local paper. I sometimes forget that it is a different world.Imagine me growing up there thinking that WI was exotic. Tee hee.

My father still says Juneau is a rathole, and I don't think he's been there in 30 years. When I lived there, the exciting day in Juneau was when the ferry docked and the new shipment of cocaine hit town. Ick. A few years back, I kind of lost everything and it's been a tough climb back. Especially with the terrible economy. I'm barely surviving on 30k a month at most and ..most people my age are incredibly shallow and obsessed. Especially when my pathetic bitch of an ex-fiance makes all my friends believe I cheated on her. And they believe her instead of me...so fuck them, I'll get new friends. And none of them liked when I became more religious and conservative anyway. It was just a matter of time. So, no friends. Then my family too? Come on, man. I pray constantly that I don't lose that too.
It'll turn out alright, I just needed to vent. I don't want to be a whiner, many people have it worse than me. I think I need to move, start over fresh once I've saved money for college. I planned to go to a broadcasting school in Chicago nearby, but I probably could use new surroundings. And...I could use less money taken out of my checks. heh

IANAL - but can the judge set aside a not guilty for and impose guilty? For some reason, I think it can go the other way - overturn guilty and impose Not guilty. But I thought that if a jury said not guilty - that was it (unless the feds get involved in something like a civil rights thingie)

This is morbid, though. Even if it IS cancer, it'd likely be lymphoma. That's extremely curable. And if it's Lupis...that isn't curable, but it's treatable and you can live a perfectly normal life with it.

The biggest sticking point is that if the state doesn't do the union's job of collecting dues through paycheck deductions, then the union has to do the collection themselves, and they send suspension notices to the employer, who notifies the employee if the dues are not paid up to date.
They want to collect their cash without pissing off their members.

But it's not nearly as high as it is in the Miami area. Brutal there, you feel like you could actually swim in the air, and showering is almost pointless since you're a sweaty mess again in 30 seconds.

The humidity here in Houston is especially nasty. On a typical summer day, you can walk from your front door to your mail box and need to take another shower. It's like a giant steam bowl.

I realized later I was less than a mile from the river, but I was on the verge of collapsing anyway.I took a couple of gulps to reduce the core temps then dumped it. My rule of thumb has always been that I will never vote for a tax increase that does not directly impact me personally.
For that reason I have voted against every property tax that has ever found its way onto my ballot, no matter how sensible it may have seemed. 'Cause I rent.
The overwhelming chances are that I would have voted against them anyway, but as it is I just laugh and check "AGAINST". PFFT. LOSING.
I will not vote to raise somebody ELSE'S taxes. We'd be a better country if everyone held to such an ethic.

Turnout is low in off years with ballot measures, except for the unions who would drag a burn victim out of ICU to vote.
Ahnuld put forth a bunch of Props in 2005 that would have slowed down the runaway spending and union ripoffs, but tv and radio ads by the CTA and other unions made sure they went down big time (I remember the radio ads by CTA head Barbara Kerr, who had a lower voice than Barry White)
Ahnuld completely surrendered after that and joined the other side

This has always been my one point of sympathy with Teh Governator.
In a state like CA, in which so much of public policy is determined by ballot props, a governor who was elected on a reform platform required the ongoing support of the PEOPLE to advance anything substantive.
In 2005, the people shot down every single one of his ballot props; initiatives that could really have made a difference.
CSM-101 should have continued fighting anyway, but if the voters of CA wouldn't back him when he tried to move on what they elected him to do, how much could one really blame him for saying "fuck it"?

You notice there are no documentaries detailing the poverty and squalor Victor Davis Hanson describes in the CA Central Valley.
What is my point? Perhaps that it will take a very drastic decline in most people's standards of living before anyone in ultramarine places like NY or CA admit there is a problem.

A large ship or a large economy can go on for a long time on momentum alone, long after the means of propulsion have gone. Much like a charging rhino, a bullet in the brain will kill it, but with so much momentum it won't immediately drop.
You can see fine restaurants and expensive shops in the Harbor District of Baltimore, and if you only saw that area you'd think it was a boom town. Go to the west end of Baltimore and you'd think it was hit by a nuclear bomb. Even Detroit has pockets of prosperity in it. We both know of areas of Los Angeles that look almost as bad as the 1000 Shops area of Tijuana, particularly Terminal Island

What is amazing to me is that they scream for more and more regulation, including licenses for just about everything....except voting.

I had planned on grilling hot dogs outside today but it looks like rain so will have to do something else. Grandson has a limited number of things he will eat.

Governor??? LOL, that law was proposed by a Dem and it is as stupid as it can get. First off most of the local towns already do this and they don't limit themselves to less than 10 mph over the limit. Second off, the insurance company doesn't really give a shit about < 10 mph over the limit unless you have a LOT of them.
The last time I got stopped for speeding I was talking to wifey on the way back from a neighboring town and not paying too much attention. Crossed into a 35 zone doing 50 and there was a city cop hiding in the bushes. Went down to the magistrate's office and paid a $175 fine and got it plea'd down to a 2 point violation.
Its a money making racket. I seriously doubt that this bill will even make it out of committee to the floor, much less get passed.

I know it's early for this kind of language, but boo-fucking-hoo. I know people who would have been facing foreclosure because of real circumstances in their lives; death, illness, etc... but have had a damned difficult time in getting coopoeration from the banks because of fuckers like him. Everybody rides the gravy train and then those who truly need help get lost in the crowd.

Exactly. My first string trimmer (electric)was a $9 Blue Light special at Kmart by Black Decker. Lasted 12 years. Each replacement has cost about 4X as much and lasts 3 - 4 years before falling apart or motor crapping out.
No profit in $9 lasting 12 years. Much profit in purposely crap built. And much landfill material.
