Send Kuwait an invoice for $500B for hauling their nuts out of the fire.

You get the idea.

45 Oh yeah, all subsidies to "green energy" should be eliminated. If they're so wonderful, let them compete on their own. Today's WSJ had an awesome op-ed about Evergreen Solar. They have received $58 million in grants, loans, land and tax incentives from Gov. Deval Patrick. (Incidentally, he called them "a symbol of the state's economic future). They have now announced that they are closing shop (funny but non-union employees in a much cheaper place to do business, China, have been the impetus of the move), and laying off all 800 employees.
Green energy jobs--what a crock of crap. Idiots in MA who continue to vote for Demotards get what they deserve. For the rest of the people that live there and don't vote for these clowns, I feel your pain here in blue, blue, WA.

49 I'd be amazed if the GOP offers anything more than symbolic cuts.
Let's face it. 70-80% of REPUBLICANS thought it was a fan-f*cking-tastic idea to give the federal government complete and total control of public education, via NCLB.
The average Republican is a GWB /Bill Frist / Mitt Romney, big government conservative. He/she gives lip-service tolimited government, but absolutely LOVE the process of social engineering.
Hell, freedom-loving conservatives want to bring down the full force of the federal government on lonely, single guys who get a kick out of playing internet poker. Look how apoplectic most of the morons in Congress went when Harry Reid started talking about letting U.S. casinos run gambling websites.
Let's not kid ourselves. Republicans are nanny-staters, too.

Universities are basically pyramid schemes with the people at the top getting the most and therefore, people below them need to feather their nest.
No my admiration for him laid in the fact that he showed (in a tangible way) just how much money $14,300 is. People need to see what a trillion dollars (And we could use 100 dollar bills to illustrate) looks like--stacked how high and weighing how much.

104 What's the big deal about cutting $3 trillion?

Junk the Department of Education, the Department of Energy, and the Department of Veteran's Affairs (absorbing its functions into the Department of Defense). End ALL farming subsidies. End ALL global climate change "research."

For that matter, junk the Department of Homeland Security and the TSA. Tell the FBI and CIA if they don't play nice and communicate, they will be next.

In the Department of Defense, junk the multiple criminal investigative and intelligence services, replacing it with ONE agency that works with all the branches. Close all the bases the Pentagon says it doesn't want. Cancel all the weapons systems the Pentagon says it doesn't need - provided it can make a good case.

You'll be well on your way.

Not a good strategy to use with the left, I would say. Alinsky was talking about savages (the left) forcing civilized people to live up to their best intentions, which had assumed that all people were civilized when it came down to it. Alinksy understood that having barbaric hordes take advantage of the rules of civilization was a quick way to end that civilization. That is wholly different from forcing anyone to live by the insane "standards" - the rules of barbarism, as it were - that the left dreams up. But, my point is that you can't play mutually assured destruction with suicidal maniacs, which is what the left are with respect to the functioning of our society.CNN beclowned itself with this idiocy in that their highest rated program for over a decade was "Crossfire" with a logo that was a huge set of crosshairs. But, to even imply that discussions of crosshairs or those sorts of metaphors or images are, in any way, out of the normal for our society (or any society, really) is to cede the argument to the left, to begin with. Better to just call the lefties retarded traitors, which is a perfectly accurate description of them and one that isn't said often enough.

Every time we severely slashed the defense budget, another war shows up on the horizon a mere few years later - even going back to the Revolutionary War, leaving us woefully unprepared. (this was the subject of a sidebar piece a few months ago).

Besides, national defense is one of the few things the federal government is obligated to provide. Not "free" healthcare or unicorns for all.

160 Anyway, none of the cutting proposed will do any good.
Sure, its a good start in the sense of limiting government tomfoolery, but the fact is we're borrowing from China just for day-to-day operating expenses.

The big 3 are Medicaid/Medicare, Social Security, and Welfare as a whole. Each are easily the biggest programs, dwarfing Defense State, Fannie/Freddie etc. They need to be cut before they collapse the country itself.

If ObamaCare is truly to be a replacement for Medicaid/Care then we've just added the Fourth Horseman.

183 So I was at Costco today. They were selling the children's book that was "written" by Obama. It's basically supposedly him talking to his daughters "Have I ever told you you are _____." (fill in the blank with creative, strong, smart, etc., etc. with a little blurb on different famous Americans). Of course he threw Lincoln and Washinton in there (as well as MLK, Jane Addams, Jackie Robinson, and Helen Keller). Towards the end it says "Have I ever told you to be proud to be an American", and I must confess, I lol'd right there at the book table surrounded by other people who nervously glanced at me.

I've always thought she is waay overrated. You're right, she did sound like a spoiled little brat--you know when kids scream "I don't like that!" And yeah, way to insult the guy who created it and the many adoring fans who went and got their hair cut like that. No wonder Brad left her.

205 Breaking News
STRATFORD-UPON-AVON, UK(AP) Interpol agents have issued a warrant for a man in this small English town answering to his street name "The Bard." William "Billy" Shakespeare issought by the FBI for questioning over hispopular rap videocalled Henry the Sixizzith.
In the video, one of the characters is clearly heard saying, "The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers."
The Obama administration, in which nearly one-third of the cabinet members and "czars" hold law degrees, saw this as a direct threat.
"This is an attempt on all of our lives," said Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack (Albany Law'75). "Hey, I never worked in Agriculture. But I have a law degree, so that means I'm qualified to do anything and I say that's incitement right there."
Even Congress was shocked by the news.
"I knew when I became a lawyer, I could get very rich," reacted Harry Reid (George Washington Law '6. "Lawyers are about honesty and as I said before `Everybody knows I was a very successful lawyer.' Clearly that is why I'm among the 50 wealthiest Congressman, despite rarely working outside of public service.Lawyers are the reason our country is where it is today."
Over half of the Senate and overone-third of the House hold law degrees.
Scotland Yard is working with both Interpol and the FBI, but they have not yet discovered the whereabouts of Mr. Shakespeare. The American Bar Association and the American Civil Liberties Union are eager for extradition.
"We're going to sue the pants off this guy. This is incitement to violence, pure and simple. We heard the FirstAmendment sputtering it last week," said law professor Goodwin Liu,lauded in legal circlesfor his careful reasoning skills. "If anyone anywhere does anything to a lawyer at any time in the future, it'll be this Shakespeare guy's fault."

Anyway, none of the cutting proposed will do any good. Sure, its a
good start in the sense of limiting government tomfoolery, but the fact
is we're borrowing from China just for day-to-day operating expenses. The
big 3 are Medicaid/Medicare, Social Security, and Welfare as a whole.
Each are easily the biggest programs, dwarfing Defense State,
Fannie/Freddie etc. They need to be cut before they collapse the country
itself.

I keep saying this but no one listens. SS, Medicare and Defense use up every single dime of federal revenues right now and it's only going to get worse. That's not including paying the debt. You could eliminate the rest of the Federal government and federal spending and we will still be running deficits. That's how freak'n bad it is.

I'm still optimistic. Hard times make hard choices possible. A lot of growth, a bit of inflation, limiting future increases,
deregulating, increasing domestic energy production, and cutting the
shit out of everything else, might mean we don't even have to cut the
existing SS entitlements. But if we have to, let's make sure we cut everything else first.

And if worse comes to worst, I have fat liberal neighbors that will make fine bacon.

Did they check for gluten intolerance / celiac disease?More common than they thought, causes internal bleeding, beer has gluten in it. My grandfather died of complications, an intestinal bleed, they didn't figure it out until it was too late. He drank beer to feel better and it just made it worse.

216 You really get what you pay for with the Rosetta stone language courses . If you’re looking for other benefits, consider that fact that you don’t have to commute to college in order to learn a foreign language. Rosetta stone’s lack of compatibility with PDA’s is not a very serious drawback, especially if you don’t want to drive or walk to school anyway. If you intend to study a language entirely at home, then Rosetta stone is the best alternative to sitting in a class room. Another benefit of utilizing this powerful language learning tool is in preparation for a college course. You can use the software to learn the language and then fly through your college course, get a letter A grade, and apply the credits toward a degree or certificate. I think you will have interests to see rosetta stone discount
