Presumably, all the members who voted for him to be minority leader will stand behind him for Speaker. So he's pretty much got his votes together already.

Calls for Shake-Up
“If there’s still only
five, 10 people making
decisions, then we haven’t learned our lesson from Tuesday,” said one
aide.
....But some of Obama’s allies fear he will take
Tuesday’s results too much in stride. That perception was fueled by
Axelrod, who told a gathering of Democrats earlier this week that he
didn’t interpret Tuesday’s expected debacle as a rejection of the
president.
“I’m not sure [Obama] gets it yet,” said one person close to the
president.

I did, and she was going round-and-round in circles. Also, I had heard some bits from Boehner's presser this morning (Rush quoted some of it) and he actually said he was going to fight. He's consistently been saying he's going to fight it, unlike those wimps in the Senate. As for the repeal and replace part, I wonder if he's seriously considering bringing forward bits of Paul Ryan's Road Map.

It makes absolutely no sense for there to be any "liberal republicans" or "conservative democrats".
If you are either, by virtue of you being elected you add to your party potentially gaining the majority. If your party gains the majority by virtue of your election, and you are a "conservative" democrat, you are openly working agianst your alleged conservaive ideals because you just gave power to liberals. And vice versa for a "liberal republican". Thus, it makes no sense and shows each kind to be nothing but a charlie crist type waffler. Willing to say anything to get elected but not really having any principals.

Oddly enough, while I was listening to Ed Schultz (for the sweet sweet schadenfreude) this morning, he parroted the Politico article and claimed that the result of this election is not that the donks have to become Republican-lite, as some are apparently suggesting, but that the Dems need to run candidates that are farther to the left. He actually called for "good progressives," but either way I'm hoping that someone listens to him (for once). It'll be really nice to see a bunch of hippies running for office that get curb-stomped in 2012 by fiscal conservatives.
Of course, that rosy picture really relies on Boehner not totally f'ing things up, and I'm not putting all my eggs in that particular basket.
