Damn...Alaska Supreme Court Rules Princess Lisa Is Special Afterall
Some bad news to offset the good news in the last post.
Alaska Supreme Court rules that election officials can provide voters with a list of names of write in candidates.After a day's worth of back-and-forth, the Alaska Supreme Court on Wednesday said voters can look at a list of certified write-in candidates when they go to the polls. The Supreme Court's decision late Wednesday blocked a lower court ruling made earlier in the day from taking effect while the high court further considers an appeal. The Alaska Democratic Party and the Alaska Republican Party joined forces this week in court seeking to keep the list out of voting places. They thought they'd won the case Wednesday morning when the lower court judge told the state Division of Elections to remove the list from voting places statewide. But the Supreme Court decision allows voters at early voting sites to see the lists if they say they need help and want to be shown a list of write-in candidates. The decision could aid Sen. Lisa Murkowski's write-in U.S. Senate bid; her campaign had fought to keep the lists at polling places. "This stay will ensure that Alaskans can continue to get the assistance they're entitled to under law," said campaign manager Kevin Sweeney in a statement. The Supreme Court did say the lists must not disclose the party affiliation of the write-in candidates. And the ballots of those voters who ask for the list must be segregated from the ballots of other voters, pending any additional appeals.Funny how this comes up now that Mercywitcki is a write in but not before when other candidates went the write in route. I wonder if daddy Merzkowsky appointed any of these judges.

My only worry is that the Democrat candidate's supporters might just decide at the last minute to vote for the "lesser of two evils" when they realize their guy can't win. If that does not happen, the Princess is toast.

Politico says the poll was from the "Hays" group, whoever they are, appeared on a liberal blog, and was of "respondents" --- not even registered voters. So, it is a little sketch.
Nevertheless, Joe Miller has been getting hammered in the lib media, so he probably is in some degree of trouble. And Rasmussen has Manchin up 3 today, which also sucks.

I have no idea about Alaska, but, when I lived in Montana, they had a posted list of all the write-in candidates at the polling place. So, it was no biggie. Oklahoma doesn't allow write-ins, so it was a non-issue. I don't know about Texas; I haven't voted here before.

Y'know what? This wasn't a bad decision. In fact, the prohibition against posting names of qualified write-in candidates was a bad law. Anyone who has gone through the process to be recognized as a valid write-in deserves to have their name posted.
The "bad" part of it was that it took a Moocowflopski to get the law overturned.

When I was stationed there in the late 90s, the Alaskan Republican Party was in complete disarray, replete with corruption and jackass candidates. Palin helped to instill some discipline back in the party--the old line jackasses realigned behind Muklukski, and will screw this up too.

This could really constitute fraud on two levels. One, because it would dupe people into believing they had voted so that they don't go vote on election day. And two, the identities of those voters could be used by patsies to cast fraudulent votes in their names ON election day. Nice.

In Massachusetts you have to spell the write-in candidate's name properly ("properly" here is defined as the same way the name is recorded on their voter registration). You also have to properly show the write-in candidate's address....to make sure that your vote can be counted for Scott Brown of Boston, MA as opposed to Scott Brown from Worcester, or the current sitting Senator.
