"We Came, We Saw, We Sucked:" Jon Stewart Slaps Up Obama, Democrats

You may or may not find this funny. (I don't; I don't think he's funny.)

But that's not the point.

The point is the bitter tears of failure, flowing freely, and the recriminations launched five weeks out.

On the scant occasions Stewart decides to temporarily stow the clown nose and criticize Democrats, he's always always always doing it from the left. Just like SNL, Letterman, Maher, et al.

So, from his perspective, there's nothing retarded at all about continuing to believe the same ruinous, tyrannical bullshit that he's always believed -- the problem lies with the implementer and the implementation -- not with the blueprint.

In Stewart's mind, Obama can only ever fall to the level of "incompetent", not to the level of "evil" where he belongs.

72 I've been thinking about something the past few days.

We're always told there's a 'pendulum swing' in American politics, but that's not true. That implies a gentle, regular motion from one side to the other, but, since the Left went radical in the1960s, we've had a quick jump to the Left, then a very quick jump back: the Carter years, the first two years of Clinton, and now Obama. Each time, we saw the Left and rejected it. Only Clinton's lack of any moral commitment let him tack back to the Center and save his political ass.

With the Right, we move Right and then slowly drift back. Reagan, certainly the most conservative President in this era, could have been re-elected to a third term if he'd been able to run. Bush wasn't rejected as a radical in 2004, but his father was rejected for being a squish on taxes.

We don't have a pendulum swing. We've got a center-right country that inevitably rejects Leftism on the national level, but with a very short memory.

Anyway, heres how I remember things. Im not sure how we got in the ditch, but I remember Reid and Pelosi were in the front seat grasping at the wheel. And then Obama came along and said, Ill get us out of the ditch. It will cost $100,000.
And we were like, Thats crazy. Thats way too much.
And Obama said, Too bad. You dont have any choice to pay it! Now I better get to work. So he started smashing the car with a sledgehammer while yelling, Get out of the ditch! Get out of the ditch! He completely totaled the thing, but eventually a piece of the car landed outside of the ditch and he was like, There. I got it out of the ditch.
And we said, All you did was cost us a lot of money and make things worse!
And Obama was like, Are you saying I dont know how to get a car out of ditch because Im black? http://tinyurl.com/34vnd9e

Someone should make a list of all the things Republicans have actually proposed or succeeded in restricting, and all those Democrats have.
As the precedent said "We can't set our thrmostats how we want, drive the cars we want, eat what we want, and expect the rest of the world to be okay with that." That's not restricting your fun, that's downright totalitarian.

In the great migration of Jews from Eastern Europe in the late 19th century, there were both Jews who were entrepreneurs (like the ones who eventually became big shots in the garment industry and the founders of the Hollywood studios) and Jews who were secular Socialists. My great-grandparents were sort of both: when they came over, they worked in the garment industry, he as a tailor and she as a seamstress. He opened his own tailor shop, and she retained her lifelong loyalty to Communism -- she even took my grandmother and great-uncle on a visit to the Soviet Union in the 1920s to see how much "better" it was under Stalin than under the hated Czar.So American Jewry has long had an affinity for the Left, made deeper as the children of the Leftist Jews became college professors and got the opportunity to indoctrinate the grandkids of the entrepreneurial Jews.

The Rosenbergs could have avoided the electric chair if they'd pleaded out. They were absolutely guilty -- her brother David Greenglass had told the entire tale on them -- but they were so devoted to the cause of World Soviet Socialism that they preferred to leave their son an orphan. That's how deep the idiocy runs in some of us.In my great-grandmother's case, one of her friends from the old country made it out from behind the Iron Curtain. When he came to visit my great-grandparents, he tried to explain to her how things for the Jews were as bad or worse under Stalin than they had been under the Czar. I'm not talking about a conscious ideology. I'm talking about a deep cultural trend--of hundreds of years duration. Jews have been waiting for the Messiah for thousands of years. A couple hundred years ago, several false messiahs appeared, crashed, and burned. The resulting disappointment in turn led to a disillusionment with the whole concept of a supernatural Messiah and his reign. So, instead, Jews have channeled that cultural energy into a secular messianic regime here on earth, i.e., socialism.Just a theory--but I'm sticking with it.

My grandmother was a bit different. Her grandmother stayed in Russia and was murdered by the Nazis. It's not that the Jews who were attracted to Communism were attracted to its authoritarian aspects -- the Jews who came to the US in the late 1800s never saw that authoritarianism first-hand -- but they reacted against the oppression of the Czar and thought that Communism would create justice and equal rights, two things European Jews had long been denied. But looking at Israel, there is hope: founded as a Socialist state, the Jews of Israel eventually figured out that economic liberalism (in the classical free-market sense) is the only system that works for building a prosperous nation and people. It will take a while longer for the Leftists of American Jewry to come to the same conclusion -- possibly the meltdown of Obamanomics will demonstrate to them that their preferred economic ideas are crap.

Alas, there is a very valid point about way too many Catholics voting for liberals who are supposedly pro-life, such as Suckpak and Bob Casey Jr. My pet theory on this is that a number of Catholics impute on the government what they should be doing themselves - caring for and comforting the poor.

Yeah they are reportedy throwing in the towel in Kentucky, Florida, and likely Ohio. I say likely because the White House has been fighting with them for a month over whether and when to call it quits (the DSCC has thought the race was a gonner for sometime). And was agreat communicator and writer who understood theevils ofsocialism.

I think your statement doesn't contradict the previous. You're both saying that Teh Won doesn't know why his righteous actions haven't lead to a spectacular recovery. He is ignorant of the economy as a whole and how his policies interact with it.

There is a question, I suppose, whether or not he actual believes that european socialism is actually good for the US economy or if he is more concerned with 'leveling the landscape,' rich people bad, poor people need big government in order to prosper.

Dinesh D'zousa was guest hosting for Dennis Prager today and essential gave a 3 hour lecture on his book about Obama. His precis is that Obama is motivated by a stagnant anti-colonialism in which the US has become the inheritor for the evil British Empire. He wants to have the third world colonies become more powerful at the expense of the old colonial masters. Hence Obama's spiteful treatment of the UK and his deference to every anti-anglo, third world despot.

Chill. He's likely playing to his audience. You don't go on MSNBC to target your base; you go there to appeal to the "independent" middle of the road voters.
Sure, the audience is only about 18 people running on a treadmill at the gym where they have MSNBC on the TVs, but every vote counts.

337 RE: Gene Simmons politics.

Generally, from what I can gather he's what I call a soft Libertarian: he's big on personal freedoms and capitalism, but what separates him form being a capital "L" Libertarian is his immense support for the military. He's done a lot of performing overseas for the troops, and they seem to love him in return. (At the end of the Gene Simmons Roast on Comedy Central he was presented with an American flag that had flown in Iraq and you could see he was genuinely moved by it, practically to tears.) But otherwise he's not a big social issues conservative.

A Simmons quote from a KISS bio:

"I'm VERY patriotic about America. It made everything possible for me, and I've always read my own comments and I come off sounding like one of these hard-hat guys. You know, "If you don't love America, then get the fuck out." Ted Nugent said something that comes off very right-wing yet there's something emotional inside me that said, "yeah, that's right." It was, "If you don't speak English then get the fuck out of America." Now, that's not right. Yet, on the other hand, I'm thinking, "I'm from another country [Israel] and if this country is gonna give me everything and anything I ever wanted . . . Social Security, free libraries, free political thinking, I can tell the president to go fuck off, do anything I want to do. I will not disappear off the streets, then that's right. Learn English or get the fuck out."

338 Gloria Allred has been shredded on Levin's radio show. Levin forced her to state the gravamen of her action and drum roll here . . . Allred's claiming her client had to use her own car and is owed mileage.
And when forced to verbalize this BS, Allred goes onto the pre-fixe meme of well . . . the rich and famous like Meg Whitman have rights and housekeepers should have rights as well.
And apparently, illegal alien housekeepers can act as righteous indignants while inhabitating a country that they unlawfully enteredand forged their way through, while taking advantage of the United States'goods and services and laws.

I think you missed the best part, Levin asking Allred if she, as an attorney, was comfortable with putting her client at risk by freely admitting the commission of a felony.

Allred never answered, BTW, but she sure as hell got huffy about Levin "not letting her talk." I wouldn't have let her go on as long as she did if it was my show.

346 re: gene simmons politics.

there's a movie called "the last angry man" from the '50's. b/w, very 50's title about an old, immigrant, jewish doctor in a latino gang ruled neighborhood of brooklyn or the bronx (very 'naked city'). he gives his service for free or trade or kindness (some of those old guys still exist). but the title is a misnomer. he's not angry. there is no anger ('cept from the yoots).

the story revolves around a madison ave. pr guy (another '50s standby) who wants to use the guy for a human interest story. but there's one touching scene near the end when the dr. explains himself to the ad guy that's pertinent:

he tells of his coming to america with nothing & no english & points to his bookshelf. he read twain, melville, etc. he loves america and wanted to be american. the new political immigrants... they no have this goal; they no want speak gringo....
