| Overnight Open ThreadWelcome to the Monday. WaPo: WikiLeaks 'a Clear and Present Danger' The Washington Post's Marc Thiesson doesn't pull any punches:Let's be clear: WikiLeaks is not a news organization; it is a criminal enterprise. Its reason for existence is to obtain classified national security information and disseminate it as widely as possible -- including to the United States' enemies. And he's down with a snatch operation to grab Assange: In 1989, the Justice Department's Office of Legal Counsel issued a memorandum entitled "Authority of the Federal Bureau of Investigation to Override International Law in Extraterritorial Law Enforcement Activities." This memorandum declares that "the FBI may use its statutory authority to investigate and arrest individuals for violating United States law, even if the FBI's actions contravene customary international law" and that an "arrest that is inconsistent with international or foreign law does not violate the Fourth Amendment." In other words, we do not need permission to apprehend Assange or his co-conspirators anywhere in the world.Apparently Wikileaks is feeling the pressure because last week they posted an encrypted 1.4GB file on the site labeled simply as 'insurance'. It's believed to be the remainder of all classified US military documents they have and expected that Wikileaks allies would release the key should Assange be detained. And if all this wasn't reason enough to despise Julian Assange, it also turns out that he also writes poetry. I won't bother excepting any here but trust me it is teh horrible. And now I don't feel so bad about sending the blog's kick-murder squad out after him. ![]() Racist 'Tea Party' Comics Update ![]() Well she has an interesting history and a respectable resume and has made herself Queen of the Birthers. But the problem with conspiracy believers is that they never know when to quit and are compelled to keep doubling down every time they lose. So after repeatedly bringing lawsuits questioning Obama's legitimacy before the same judge she's now facing a $20,000 fine. She appealed it to the 11th circuit who turned her appeal down. Next she asked the Supreme Court for a stay but was turned down in a letter from Justice Clarence Thomas. She's now going to court to allow her to verify personally that it is Thomas' signature on the decision. ![]() To Dr. Sidney Harman, husband of Rep. Jane Harman (D-CA), which is really a lot more than it's worth these days. Mostly it was about finding a buyer willing to take on its liabilities but god forbid not one that was too ickily conservative which is why they rejected Newsmax's offer. A lot of the staff and management seem happy to be “a liberal opinion magazine written by liberals who don’t want to admit they’re liberals”. We'll see if Harman is willing to change that. And I like AP's idea of them going full tabloid. ![]() Here's a fascinating article on the arms race between US forces and insurgents' IEDs in Iraq and Afghanistan. Initially simple and crude, IEDs evolved quickly over 70 months to the point that they're now more sophisticated than anything the IRA ever used. In fact a new variant has appeared this year that uses passive IR and radio signal detectors to target only convoys carrying anti-IED jammers. ![]() And now is smiting the Earth with a Coronal Mass Ejection. Must sacrifice more sheep and virgins. ![]() One of these models is not what he/she seems. ![]() Well there's one to suit everyone's personality. Me - I kinda like the TK400 - it's fully protective but doesn't seem so scary to the Infected. Plus there's hoods for babies and pets too. ![]() Yep you can't go wrong with smelling nice and being down with the BJ. ![]() Apparently form is more important than you'd expect: Rather, after sighting a striking face, you quickly look at girl's shoes, then "slowly, taking about three seconds, raise your eyes ... remembering always not to move the head." That last directive reminded my companion of instructions he'd gotten on his golf swing. ![]() Well really it's more about the worst swimwear choices. Caution - you may need eye bleach after viewing. (thanks to Heather Radish) ![]() ![]() Comments1

So at this point it doesn't seem to be a leftist plant after all, but
it's not clear what relationship, if any, that Kalb has with the Tea Party movement. But hey the Narrative must roll on. That's one of the few downsides of the decentralized Tea Party approach - any nutball or leftist-plant can claim to be a Tea Partier. How the hell do you do it? I take showers, I use shampoo, yet how come bluebirds don't follow my scent when I walk outside? When enemies openly declare themselves as such, it is time to treat them that way whether individual, organization or nationa-state.
The United States is fully capable of frying Wikileaks infrastructure, targeting its leadership and making it go away. However, as we still seek some sort of mystical "dialogue" with other enemies, I fear this is going to do us a great deal of harm. It's so beautiful and tiny and makes us feel all warm and happy. If somebody touched me liked this, I would pull out the Blade of Olympus and hack away until the offending touch was removed. Julian Assange: Wikileaks founder fears he could be arrested Julian Assange, the Australian founder of Wikileaks, has said he has been warned by "inside sources in the White House" not to return to the US as he could be arrested. The 39 year-old told journalists at the Frontline Club last night that US government insiders had informed him about discussions to charge him as a co-conspirator to espionage. The discussions were later dropped. Mr Assange says despite this he still fears he is at risk of being forcefully detained by the US government as a material witness in the prosecution of US intelligence analyst Bradley Manning. Posted by: madamex at August 02, 2010 10:27 PM (jChrK) Here's some very interesting background on Manning http://bit.ly/bEM15u Bradley Manning, the prime suspect in the leaking of the Afghan war files, raged against his US Army employers and "society at large" on his Facebook page in the days before he allegedly downloaded thousands of secret memos, The Daily Telegraph has learnt. The US Army intelligence analyst, who is half British and went to school in Wales, appeared to sink into depression after a relationship break-up, saying he didn't "have anything left" and was "beyond frustrated". Mr Manning, who is openly homosexual, began his gloomy postings on January 12, saying: "Bradley Manning didn't want this fight. Too much to lose, too fast." At the beginning of May, when he was serving at a US military base near Baghdad, he changed his status to: "Bradley Manning is now left with the sinking feeling that he doesn't have anything left." Five days later he said he was "livid" after being "lectured by ex-boyfriend", then later the same day said he was "not a piece of equipment" and was "beyond frustrated with people and society at large". His tagline on his personal page reads: "Take me for who I am, or face the consequences!" Posted by: conscious, but incoherent at August 02, 2010 10:38 PM (YVZlY) 150

I'm still calling bullshit on that Persoff guy. Maybe he didn't do it, maybe not. The only thing this Kalb guy has on the internet is an address on some website with the tag "comic books" underneath. Oh, and eBay. There's a smoking gun! HAH!
And the the artist signature on the inset of one of the comics only refers to the brief one page story, "Miracle On Main Street 2009." How am I supposed to know this is original to the comic? How am I supposed to know it's not a contribution from a seperate artist? How do I know it didn't appear in an underground book elsewhere? That doesn't tell me anything. Secondly, the art style is different from the rest of the book and it's not unusual for underground creators to collaborate in such a manner. As far as I can see there are no artist signatures on the individual pages, which tells me the artist doesn't want his name attached. Why is that? So no one can look him up and maybe look into his political affiliations? Personally, my default position with creative types is liberal until proven otherwise. The comic is demeaning, but still very much left-wing so it could be from a LaRouchie (that's assuming it's not Persoff's work and at this point he has every reason to deflect attention away from himself and lie). Anyway, this asshole's entire argument is, "Look, it's got the words Tea Party written across the front! It *must* be real Tea Party swag!" Followed by a buncha childish gotcha nonsense. "Look! A denial! It *has* to be real!" Leftist fcking troll. Posted by: Robert at August 02, 2010 10:46 PM (jYQ2v) 176

I always loved that story of when a couple of Russians were kidnapped in Lebanon in the early 80's and the Russians then went and found the son of the terrorist group leader holding them hostage and sent one of his son's balls to them with a note saying release our people and never touch one of them again or else. That's how you do business in the spook world!

Get off my land! Queen's banker in battle to close Chaucer's footpath to Canterbury They are fighting about the path supposedly used by the characters in The Canterbury Tales. Church was the one who started the CIA down the road of changing from a foreign intelligence service into yet another bureaucracy full of lifers who refuse to take a risk. It was the Church committee that prompted the shift from cloak dagger human intelligence to electronic eavesdropping.
Until 9/11 it was getting worse, too, since Congress would go through every few years and make rules like "you can't pay for information from anyone who has been accused of human rights violations". Story for the Paul Ryan for President club
"Political people always tell their candidates to stay away from controversy," said Ryan, 40. "They say, 'Don't propose anything new or bold because the other side will use it against you.' " At a recent appearance touting the Roadmap at the left-leaning Brookings Institution, someone asked Ryan why more conservatives weren't behind his budget plan. "They're talking to their pollsters," Ryan answered, "and their pollsters are saying, 'Stay away from this. We're going to win an election.' The State (that means federal government in Con Law Speak…for the learning impaired) must show a compelling reason to restrict the speech. "It's easy to call for the arrest prosecution of Assange.""All it requires is denial of the First Amendment."
Active participation in espionage is not protected speech: it's largely not even speech at all, but action. Neither is soliciting treason, which appears to be the legal description of Assange's relationship with Manning. This is not the Pentagon Papers case, and Assange is not Daniel Ellsberg. Moreover, the Pentagon Papers case doesn't even mean nearly as much as what most modern j-school idiots think it means. This isn't about prior restraint of speech. It's about punishing someone for criminal acts they have already committed. Posted by: Dave J. at August 02, 2010 11:46 PM (DCQ0q) 365

#390 You're a very disturbed young man.
Tell me about your mother. My mother? Don't know much about her. After she had me, she fled to Sparta as I had no father and all the people in the village were suspicious about my conception. After engaging in the seemingly quasi homo-erotic traditions of Spartan men, I rose through the ranks of the Spartan army rapidly. I didn't have time to see her. But she was keeping a terrible secret from me. After my 1st confrontation with Zeus at the Summit of Sacrifice, a dying Athena told me that Zeus was my father. She did care for me. As I was traversing Hades, I found this note from her - It read - "He was my responsibility. It was my burden to raise him, teach him right from wrong. All who get too near him suffer or die. His wife, his child, his brother, and now me. I failed him; as a mother, as a human being. His sins are mine to bear. Punish me for my shortcomings, and grant my son redemption." The tranny model - what, is it all of them? 4 or 2. I'd say 4, because that model is the only one wearing something different. Or it could be 2 because the clothes are the same as the... femboys. I cannot call them men. 60 Oh, God, I love this so much. When, out of the blue, a girl will place a hand on your arm while she's laughing, or pick something out of your hair, or fix your collar. There's something so divine about an unexpected, casual, sweet touch like this. It's so beautiful and tiny and makes us feel all warm and happy. Why are you dissapointed? I used to work on a ranch that kept peacocks on the property in addition to some other exotic animals. This sounds kinda cool the first 5 times you hear it, I guess. Worst drivers ever? Old people in small communities. In small towns, they are allowed to keep their licenses much longer than they should. In the city, they'd be forced to stop driving when they became dangerous to everyone. In a small town, they can be seen swerving along at 10 mph and straddling the middle line. I used to have visions of being mowed down by an 90-year old retired farmer in a red king cab pickup or a 70's model sedan full of little old ladies. Ok, how about what Hugh of le Puiset's would-be assassin got? "The unfortunate would-be assassin was sentenced to die a death that seems extraordinarily violent even for those harsh times [the Crusades]. He was dragged into the market square and tied down. Then a leg was cut off. Boiling pitch was poured over the gaping wound, causing more pain but prolonging life. When the assassin recovered from the shock, the other leg was cut off and the process with the pitch repeated. Finally, after both arms had been removed in the same manner, the limbless trunk was forced to confess its guilt [i.e., tortured] and, mercifully, was decapitated." Dr. Strangelove reference heh. I think the point is that anyone can download the encrypted file, but cannot read it without the key. Hell, I read about it somewhere today, so many others must know too. Posted by: GnuBreed at August 03, 2010 02:03 AM (h0RtZ) 559
But the point being that if'n we don't know what's in it, it isn't much insurance. If he saidlike, nuclear launch codes or location of some of our SSBNs or whatever then there'd be some good reason to fear people getting access and therefore not killing him. Maybe it's a Hello Kitty vibrator. Someone might call his bluff and kill/capture him; rightly thinking that he's just making us envision our own Room 101s.

Good Morning MMs.
Back on the WikiLeaks asshattery And he's down with a snatch operation to grab Assange: We have done that once already in a NATO ally country and the fallout was high. I am not in favor of this type of operation. There is a reason why we have international agreements of this sort. If we start carrying out snatch operations in other countries they will feel justified in doing them in the U.S. And thanks to the last three administrations we have zero border security. What we should be doing is pressuring what ever country he is currently hiding out in to extradite him to the U.S. We will probably have to promise not to press for the death penalty but we probably wouldn't do that anyway. On the racist tea party comics its not that some of us thought that it was the work of the guy who supposedly found them. Its that based on his own collection of works, it was obvious that they were a liberal plant and had nothing to do with the tea party or any member of said group. On the Orly Taitz thing, I am all for administering sanctions for specious civil actions. When are they going to start doing it for all the assholes in prison that are doing it at tax payer expense. Also all the liberal groups and the ACLU when the do it over and over again. And finally on my morning walk which I just completed I noticed yet another homeowner performing teh stupid. As I passed a relatively new house with one of those manicured instant lawns put in with sprinklers and rolls of centipede sod I noticed that they had placed a child's wading pool right in the middle of that lawn in the front yard. This pool was about 2 ft deep and about 10 ft in diameter. It will likely sit there the entire summer and kill a 10 ft diameter section of that front lawn. As I passed the house I checked the driveway and yes it had a nice large expanded section in front of the garage which entered from the side. That would have made an ideal place to put the pool for the summer. But instead one of their car's was sitting there in that area. So likely the garage was full of "stuff" which I have seen rather common around here when the doors are left open. The garage becomes a store room for old junk that wouldn't bring $50 total in a yard sale while a $30,000 car sits in the weather outside. Posted by: Vic at August 03, 2010 07:36 AM (/jbAw) 581
I like @knifework's analogy. Among the 10,000s who protest at liberal rallies some of them must be rapists. So if the anti-war crowds don't publicly disavow their rapist membersthat means they're all rapists. The anti-war movement is basically just a pro-rape organization.
Posted by: Crusty at August 03, 2010 08:06 AM (qzgbP) 582
The anti war crowd needs to diaf...along with their hero Asshat. They are evil, sick, twisted little fucks -- who are the biggest fucking hypocrites ever...they LOVE to see people die as long as it's the "right" people; they could care less about anyone but themselves. I think (real) torture even makes them wet between the legs -- while they squawk about how awful it is to drip water on a terrorist's fucking face, the news that same terrorists took a razor blade to the "right" person's entire family, little babies included makes them horny. They can take that peace and love phony bullshit of theirs and cram it up their ass. I hate these fuckers; I hate them.
God, all I ask is that they "get theirs". Sorry, I'm taking this story rather personally...because, well, I found out I have a right to take it personally. Posted by: unknown jane at August 03, 2010 09:04 AM (5/yRG) 583

This would not be the first time that the US snatched someone from another country; I seem to recall that sometime in the late 80's, right around the time this memorandum came out that some type of spec-ops squad snatched the doctor who kept DEA agent Kiki Camerena alive so drug gangs could torture him from Mexico, and delivered him to the front door of the federal courthouse where he had been indicted for his crimes.
