Okay I'm going to be out most of the day and evening and I've got a ton of videos built up so that all equals Video Sunday.

The Mystery of the Racist 'Tea Party' Comics

A long running narrative on the left has been that the Tea Party is filled with racists. It just has to be true despite the lack of any evidence of this. So recently lefty blogs have been a flutter over recently found racist 'Tea Party' comics. Supposedly they were discovered by comic book blogger Ethan Persoff who bought a few copies somewhere in Corpus Christi, TX and put scans up on his website. As you can see below they're done in black an white and mock Obama using recreations of famous comic book covers. But so far the only link to the Tea Party movement is just the title, 'Tea Party Comix' - Tea Party leaders disavow any knowledge of them and no one seems to know who the author was or if they were widely distributed.

Having looked through them it's clear that whoever did them was quite familiar with well known vintage comic book covers and their drawing is fairly good. But my impression is that the overall tone is slightly off - it reads more like an outsider's view of how Tea Partiers are supposed to think rather than their actual viewpoints and it has the look and feel of something from an alternative weekly rather than a Tea Party handout. Plus there's a decided lack of humor and cleverness. So barring further evidence I see this as being most likely a plant by an anti-tea Party leftist. But with just enough over the top irony that if caught, they can claim that they were really just spoofing Tea Partiers.

15 Yeah, only thing worse than being a hostage is having the Russians "rescue" you.

Unless you're a gov't official. There's a tale I've heard where Hezbollah or some jihadist group took some Soviet officials hostage in Lebanon. The Russians found some of the relatives of the hostage-takers, killed and tortured a few of them, and started mailing pieces of the family members back until they got their officials back.

No, I don't but unfortunately the right to vote is not restricted to sane people so EVERY accusation of Tea Party racism has to be answered with a (fully substantiated) counter accusation of racism (or worse) on the other side.

The simpler the charge is to understand the better.

38 I don't even see what's supposed to be racist about that cover you have posted, here. Is it that the guy is black? It can't be the "boy" in Superboy, since the "boy" is the white guy on the ground. Big ears aren't racist. They're ugly, but not racist. And the dialogue is pretty much sticking to the facts of the situation.

I don't get it.

Maybe drawing any caricature of a black man is racist ... sort of like the left's own "no images of Mo" thing?

There's no such thing as loyalty or goodwill in the arab/persian/muslim world. Especially in the arab world. Anyone can be bought, but no one can be trusted.Think about it. These are cultures that will see the mother, father, and brothers kill their sister with their bare hands if she looks at the wrong person. That sort of culutre could NEVER be long on trustworthiness or loyalty.

the soviet weapons didn't fail in 1967 and 1973, as a matter of fact, most, if not all of the Soviet weapons were superior to what the Israelis had. The Arabs failed. They don't make great soldiers in modern armies. that is the problem. that and maintenance.

66 Good morons:

I bid you greeting from the land of my birth, now the land of Terrell Owens and the funding of streetcars while the very infrastructure crumbles. I have been helping to care for my dad for the past 10 days or so.

The first few were the worst. He hadn't been drinking or eating and suddenly decided that-- you know what would be fun? Suddenly stop taking his steroids! So the inevitable happened: We wound up in the hospital so that he could get some fluids and a blood transfusion. That was awesome fun. But the outcome helped his color and energy a little bit.

There was a chemo appointment on Friday. He's been pretty well today and yesterday, especially since the doctor slapped a couple more pain patches on him and my dad has been more cooperative where fluids and pills are concerned. I am told that the chemo really hits on Tuesday. All I know is that today he made it to Mass where he held his baby grandson, and that he is sitting up and enjoying the wonders of an On-Demand DVR, which I am helping to decipher for him. He just asked me for a couple of mini-Snickers and caught one when I threw it to him with my girly Obama underarm. So I'm taking it and running.

My dad does best when he has new people to talk to. I think he is getting pretty sick of me and mom constantly hectoring him to eat and drink, and needs another boy to talk to. When my husband swung through today for a visit, he was desperate to talk football and airplanes. And so if any of you are so inclined, please do give him a call-- I think Lacy and/or OhioDan has his number.

I thank you again for your prayers, thoughts, and kindness.

67 Read the comments on that link. "Fake but accurate" is a full-time obsession with the lefties. There is not a single known-truth that they shy away from repeating.
They really truly and honestly believe that the Tea Party people are racists and are only angry because a black man is in the White House. Fucking crazy; there is no other way to explain it. You got black people speaking at the rallies, you've got black people endorsed by the local chapters and yet, the Tea Party is racist. They've seen the fucking pictures of 'em there and they still--still--think it's all about race.

Like Steyn said, Oh yeah, I'd be all peaches and cream, happy as a pig in shit if only it were just a white person fucking up the country--you know, like say, Harry Reid or Nancy Pelosi.

That kind of deductive, logical reasoning (that would ruin their whole narrative) is too fucking hard when you can just shout: RACIST!!!

This contingent, this cadre of sycophants, this cult of the child-god: There is a good 10% to 20% of this country that if Obama came out and said the sky was orange, they would call anyone who disagreed a racist. And they would set out to twist and distort past statements of others to "prove" the sky really is orange.

I've heard that story in multiple places, and Bob Woodward re-tells it in his CIA book "Veil". Lot's of subtle differences in each telling though. The one I remember is that once the KGB snatched the relative and put a bullet in his skull, they dumped the body outside the main Hezbollah kidnapper's parents' house. Just to put the final dot on the I....so to speak.

Oh, and after releasing the Russian hostages, Hez issued a written, formal apology, which was apparently read out loud over their Lebanon radio station.

The Black Congressional Caucus lie DID WORK. Every news network reported it. repeatadly. It was never formally retracted.
That is my point. The facts don't matter. If a black person is attacked, or a black church, and a tea party note is left there, it will be reported as tea party violence. Even if a democratic operative is caught in the act, it will still be reported as tea party violence.
the onus is on the tea party to prove they aren't crimal racists.

Hi, Lace--
He was in and out overnight this week. The oncologist managed to get him an appt. at Christ. And he was only there overnight because it took so long for the techs to get around to him; if he could have gotten right into to schedule, it would have been entirely out-patient.

89 The Russians backed the terrorists after the ebarrasing failure of Soviet weapons in 67 and 73 against Israel.

I would just note that the arabs had basically won the '73 war. The Israelis had their defenses in the north obliterated and all the Syrian tanks had to do was punch through 1 or 2 Israeli tanks (literally) and they would have a free run into the Galil to cut the country in two. It was nothing short of a miracle that the Syrians thought the Israelis were actually laying a trap (or something along those lines) and stopped the advance of their tanks, which had won the battles.

Things in the South were also in terrible shape. Tha arabs had their chance. They hesitated for a little bit ... and that was enough. But it was nothing short of pure luck for Israel. That's why I kept telling my Israeli friends that they cannot continue to fight defenses, since if they keep giving the arabs chances, the arabs will eventually win, if only by luck. It's a simple Bernoulli trial.

124 -->It wasn't a glorious day for the Israeli military
intelligence services either, ignoring all the signs that the Egyptians
and Syrians were amassing for an attack.
Most of the blame comes down on Golda Meir, I think. Israel knew of the attack (not the exact time, but that it was coming) and Golda decided that Israel couldn't launch another pre-emptive attack after having just done it in '67. She wanted "world opinion" on Israel's side. Yayyy!

The funny part is that Israel got blamed for the first strike, anyway. It wasn't cleared up in the press that the arabs had initiated the war until 2 or 3 days later, and no one cared at that point.
-->After the reversal of
the initial losses, it was amazing that the Israelis were in a position

Posted by: Kratos (Ghost of Sparta) at August 01, 2010 10:04 PM (c0A3e)
Yep. I always mention this fact: Israel has never attacked any major enemy city - in a real attack. They bombed Beirut back in the 80's, but everyone was bombing Beirut at the time. And when Olmert put the Lebanon war on hold for the first week, so that everyone and his brother could escape southern Lebanon, you knew that that war wasn't serious.Israel never should have given the Suez back. I always thought that that was really stupid, in terms of being able to construct a peaceful neighborhood.

That goes back to world opinion. If I remember correctly, Egypt had gambled that by the time Israel was in a position to do something, they would have gained effective control of the Sinai and diplomatic pressure would be bearing down on Israel to settle the war through negotiations instead of continuing the fighting. It was either 1.) they negotiate or 2.) piss off every country and sack Cairo. (really, though, how realistic would it have been for them to hold it?)

149 We've got to stop falling into the same fucking trap over and over again. It's always the same: Democrats make up some total bullshit about Republicans, and the Republicans get all invested in proving it's a lie. The lie becomes the story. This time it's fucking comics.

Screw that. Just ignore their lies. We have to create lies of our own. Short, pithy, brutal slogans. Anecdotes free of fact but which sound bad. The birthers are actually perfect -- instead of calling them nutjobs we should recognize them as heroes. Their lie is short, easy-to-understand ("Obama's not really a citizen") and impossible to disprove. The Democrats debunk it time and time again -- but each time a little grain lingers.

Time to do much more of that. FORGET TRUTH. Embrace lies. LEARN from the Democrats.

Suggestions: one-up them on the comics issue. Fake up video and claim it's Michelle Obama giving a Black Panther salute. Or find a blurry photo and say it's Joe Biden and John Gotti. Or Obama praying in a mosque (surely somewhere there must be some picture of a man praying who looks kind of like Barry O). Make them run around in circles trying to disprove them.

It's got to be semi-plausible. That's where the Lefties get it wrong so often. They have this strawman version of what a conservative is like, and it's so at odds with reality that their black ops take on a Mirror Universe quality. We have their bilge jammed down our throats hourly, so I think we can fake them much more easily.

Play to things the Demos really are linked to: Commies, the Mob, the Muzzies, black racism ("Obama urged black teens to rob Korean groceries"), whatever. Don't be afraid of being proved wrong -- if they refute it, ignore the refutation and repeat the lie (it's what they do).

It's amazing. Did your daughter enjoy the trip? I remember the first time I ever saw someone with a machine gun in public was on a trip to Israel, at the airport, when I was young. I often use Israel in 2nd amendment discussions, since kids walk around the streets carrying uzi's and M-16's and everyone has a gun at their house, and the murder rate is around 0 (it was until the Russians came in). It was funny that they used to pile their guns up in the movie theater lobbies. Of course, you could smoke in the theaters, in Israel, back then, too ...

Douglas DC-3

Turboprop conversionsFrom the early 1950s, some DC-3s were modified to use Rolls-Royce Dart as in the Conroy Turbo Three. Other conversions featured Armstrong Siddeley Mamba and Pratt Whitney PT6A turbines. In 1987, Airtech Canada offered aircraft re-engined with current-production PZL ASz-62IT radial engines of 1,000 hp (746 kW) as the DC-3/2000.[2]The Basler BT-67 is a conversion of the DC-3. Basler refurbishes DC-3s at Oshkosh, Wisconsin, fitting them with Pratt Whitney Canada PT6A-67R turboprop engines, lengthening the fuselage by 40 in (100 cm) with a fuselage plug ahead of the wing and strengthening the airframe in selected areas. The airframe is rated as having "zero accumulated fatigue damage." This and extensive modifications to various systems and avionics result in a practically brand-new aircraft. The BT-67s have been supplied to civil and military customers in several countries.[3]Braddick Specialised Air Services International PTY Ltd (BSAS International) in South Africa is another company to perform a turbo-prop conversion to DC-3s designated by the Pratt Whitney engine model PT6. Over 50 DC3/C47 65ARTP / 67RTP / 67FTPs have been built.Conroy Aircraft also made a three engine conversion with Pratt Whitney Canada PT6 called the Conroy Tri-Turbo-Three.

184 168-we just moved down to Florida, and apparently the school board voted to start school in early August this year. My kids got out of school in Virginia in mid June, so they have had too short a time to forget everything they learned. Combine that with blazing heat, budget cuts that mean temps in the schools are going to be higher to cut energy costs, plus the 0700 start, and I will have cranky, poor-performing young-uns for a few weeks. Spare prayers would definitely be appreciated.

165-Kratos, I agree with you, but I guess I understand their desire to try to keep the peace as much as possible. God bless them for trying to survive as they have. Our job to keep praying for them as well. That Psalms 122 thing, you know.

that whole lack of personal responsibility thing I guess.

In her book "Nomad", Ayaan Hirsi Ali described the some of the detrimental effects of passive "inshallah" in her home. For example, the apartment she lived in was riddled with holes and huge puddles of water formed inside the living spaces. This is in Ethiopia, which has a major malaria problem. You'd think that people would dry up the puddles to help prevent mosquitoes from multiplying inside and spreading the disease, but Ali's stepmother would have none of it.

"It is as Allah wills", she said. "The puddles will dry when it stops raining. Allah brings the rains and Allah makes the sun shine".

Is blackness now something to be ashamed of? Is acknowledging that someone is black somehow wrong?

Obama is black (sort of). Any criticism of him that includes a drawing or image will acknowledge that he is black.

It reminds me of that supposedly awful image of Obama as a witch doctor, which was a perfectly reasonable and rational way to poke fun at his efforts to destroy our health care system. But because he's black, the usual suspects would have us believe that image was totally inappropriate.

Bullshit.

Show me something that attacks Obama using negative stereotypes about black people and I'll show you an example of racism. Show me something that criticizes his policies without shying away from the fact that he is black and I'll show you something that isn't an example of racism.

There are an awful lot of otherwise reasonable and rational people who have (subconsciously or otherwise) bought into the Gramscian lie that saying ANYTHING about someone who isn't white is somehow "racism."

Please people, don't fall for that nonsense.

One more interesting bit of Temple Mount lore.
Here is a rare photo of Warren Gate in the Western Wall, 40' below present street level of the Arab Quarter and which directly leads to the original foundation rock - ie, the center of the dome of the Rock. This is about as close as you can get to the Second Temple site. btw - It's hard as hell to get on a tour there, and it took mefive months to get admission for that time of day.
http://tinypic.com/r/jsg5s0/3
It has been cemented up twice, when it was discovered to lead to the lower level of the Dome back in the 1700's, and Warren snuck under the dome in 1870 and was discovered by the Turkish Moslem authorities (but not killed, luckily). Thisgate in the Western Wall probably was the direct passage that the Priests took to the Holy of Holies.

225 PS High School: What pisses me off is how arbitrary it was. Busses would pick up students in descending order, high school, middle, elementry. Maybe an hour between each.
Left on their own, elementry kids will bounce out of bed at the crack of dawn. And teens will drag out at eleven. You don't have to be Sherlock-fucking-Holmes to observe this human tendancy. They could have just as easily picked kids up in ascending order.
Did they decide by accident, or are sleepy students easier to manage?

243 Read a book by one of the first Marines to fly a Phrog in Vietnam, good book if you're a helo freak like me. Back when they were new, before people understood dynamic resonance and vibration frequencies and other complicated shit, 46s had a habit of shaking themselves to pieces. The front half, usually containing on the the pilots, had a marginal chance of autorotating to survival. The back half, with the grunts and crew chiefs, never survived. One ol' Gunny managed to be close enough to the cockpit when his Phrog broke itself in two, that he rode to the ground with the pilots. When he got back to the squadron, he logged himself 0.1 hours in an H-23. Or half of an H-46.

299 Inception had the same problem as Prestige. That is, too many twists and turns. Not impossible to keep up with, but somewhat more trouble than its worth. The Dark Knight wasn't hard to keep up with, just had too many climaxes that kept the movie going on and on till you didn't care all that much anymore. Nolan needs to get back to filmmaking like Insomnia and Batman Begins.

Now why does every comic book aficionado I read on the intarwebz have to be a raging leftist asshole? They always, without fail, launch into some ridiculous screed right in the middle of a review. "Superman blah blah blah STOOPID FARKING RETHUGLICANS SARAH PALIN TEABAGGERS BBBLLLAARRGGGHHH!!!!!!!!!!!" They're like sportswriters (Queef!). Resentful of the fact that they have nothing relevent to say so they vomit forth something that they imagine proves that they're smarter then they are.

Have you heard of Linkara, from the That Guy With the Glasses website?

I only saw a few of his comic book reviews, but he doesn't seem like a lefty, more like right-of-center.

387 It seems like Dark Knight was two movies stuffed into one. The start of the second film would be after Harvey Dent was captured (an event that was oddly unfilmed).

you find Harry Reid or Nancy Pelosi, two TOP Tea Party targets of
ridicule, but the Obama-caricature is on Every. Fucking. Page. This is

Good point. Obama, much as a can't stand what he's doing, I at least figure he's got his better qualities. Pelosi, on the other hand, is the Devil's own representative in Congress. I think she more than any Democrat makes conservative blood boil. Yet not one mention of her? That's just BS.

"Yup. It's pretty suspicious that he doesn't identify where he bought it and no one else seems to have seen a copy."

The guy claims, at least in regards to issue #3, that someone, who he fails to identify, snail mailed the issue to him. I guess? But why mail these comics to some obscure asshole comics blogger when they can be mailed to, I don't know, MSDNC? I'm sure Queef Olberdouche and Richard Maddow would LOVE to run those images! Easy answer is the dude is trolling for hits, second guess is that his readers are utter morons.

oracles and portents beyond human comprehension, that I wrote similarly

I ran it using two different samples, the second one rather short. I got a guy who offed himself (David Foster Wallace) and the guy 'responsible' for one of the most boring films I've ever seen (Dan Brown). Not good.

416 I moved to CA in '87-'88, when it still had, IMO, lots of good things going for it as a state to live in. I left in '06 because it had turned into a shithole where I no longer wanted to live. It had actually been a shithole for many years before that, but it took me a while before I could get the cash together to be able to afford to quit my job and move. I haven't spent a day since the move regretting that I did so.

430 It doesn't take long to determine that the author of these comix is liberal douche-nozzle Ethan Persoff himself.

All one has to do is locate his website and peruse his work history.

So why is there any controversy? Because the MFM is involved and the meme is "Racist Teabaggers" per direction from Axelrod.

Posted by: WaterCow at August 02, 2010 11:05 AM (cQyWA)

434 but it doesn't matter that the cartoons are falsely attributed to the Tea Party. see, it doesn't matter what the truth IS, it only matters what people THINK the truth is. that is the difference, and let's be honest, since the right never defends itself, never fights back, and does not aggressively attack such charges, the left gets away with it. the fact remains, the right has been and continues to be ineffective when it comes to controlling its own message.

Posted by: annak at August 02, 2010 11:19 AM (2/oBD)

435 getting in on this late, but wow does that TParty comix fit the leftist tautology of the Tea Party to a tee. All race, no taxes, no healthcare, just an illustration of what a hate filled leftist thinks tea partiers care about.

Posted by: joeindc44 at August 02, 2010 12:19 PM (QxSug)

436 I vote for leftists creatingpropaganda under the guise of trying to find more 'evidence' to make the tea party look like racists to fit their meme.
The Tea Party is about fiscal conservatism, not about 'people'. In a REAL tea party comic, there would be jokes about debt, the Constitution, our founding fathers...
Someone needs to investigate this and expose the asshats for what they're doing. Pathetic and appalling. Only losers would stoop to this.
