Today's Moment Of Chris Christie Awesomeness...Judicial Edition

I love this guy. Like a viking.

Once again showing that he means to shake up Trenton, Gov. Christopher J. Christie declined on Monday to reappoint a sitting justice to the New Jersey Supreme Court, instead appointing someone who he said would show the restraint that was missing from the court.

The justice, John E. Wallace Jr., became the first one to seek reappointment and be refused by a New Jersey governor since the current State Constitution was adopted 63 years ago.

Justice Wallaces departure also means that for the first time in 16 years, the court will not have a black justice. If confirmed by the State Senate, Mr. Christies appointment of Anne M. Patterson, a Morris County lawyer, will give the court its first female majority.

Speaking to reporters in Trenton, Mr. Christie had only kind words for Justice Wallace, but he described the historically liberal court as out of control over the last three decades, usurping the roles of the governor and the Legislature in setting social and tax policies.

Christie just isn't playing by the rules the Democrats have set up to rig the game for so long. He's the man on the line and he's going to use all the tools in his kit to change things. "But this is the way we've always done it" simply isn't going to fly anymore. And not reappointing the only black judge? Clearly he's not afraid of the diversity bullies anymore than he is of the unions.

During Christie's term, 5 of the 7 members of the court will come up for appointment.

Things are going to change in NJ.

Speaking of Barack the Unworthy, this what he had to say about his first year."Obama said that the unanimous House vote against the Recovery Act set
the tenor for the whole year: That helped to create the tea-baggers
and empowered that whole wing of the Republican Party to where it now
controls the agenda for the Republicans. For Obama this was the
greatest surprise of 2009. [It wasnt that] I thought that my political
outreach and charm would immediately end partisan politics, the
president said. I just thought that there would be enough of a sense of
urgency that at least for the first year there would be an interest in
governing. And you just didnt see that."

The stimulus was a huge and expensive mistake and yet Zero blames us "teabaggers" for rejecting his "political outreach and charm," for failing to recognize the "urgency," and for not recognizing his "interest in governing."

God I hate him.

"In February, the White House released its Annual Report on the Middle Class containing new regulations favored by Big Labor including a bailout of critically underfunded union pension plans through retirement security options.
The radical solution most favored by Big Labor is the seizure of private 401(k) plans for government disbursement which lets them off the hook for their collapsing retirement scheme. And, of course, the Obama administration is eager to accommodate their buddies."

66 The encouraging thing to me is that the public seems to understand implicitly the trouble the state is in and may finally be willing to make sacrifices.

Case in point - for the first time in my life (26 years), the nagging "how dare you think about hurting THE KIDS by voting against our raises" schtick from the teachers' union fell upon largely deaf ears. If he survives the obvious "RACIST!" cries that come from this, I'm not sure the left in NJ has any bullets left in the chamber (short of amnesty creating a million new Democrat votes overnight).

Never thought I'd see the day where my governor was a leading light for sensible governance. Remember, even NJ Republicans looked an awful lot like Christie Whitman for a long time.

Why this could not apply to Gucci or BMW is beyond my simple mind to understand.

For the past three decades every town in NJ has been in a struggle to maintain some control over development while complying with the new requirement. And the real kicker was, the thing that barry has emulated, that the greedy capitalist were put in a position to enforce this mandate by suing towns to get subsidy's or relaxed zoning on their projects.

You have a nice town with mostly residential 2 acre zoning, good schools and lots of greenery? Racist! Must put high density section 8 housing in center of town right now.

Social justice. spread the wealth around. fuck the taxpayer. destroy that which we can not achieve on our own.

125 wow, if you think back to what was talked about and discussed on here about "how people should decide who they will vote for" it seems that Christie is the kind of person you all described. Look, he promised NJ he would pull it back off the cliff which is no small feat since it is only hanging by a thread so, yeah, the guy has to have some "unpleasantness" come down. I think it is just a matter of time before he fails to support some long standing republican. Then the people of nj will know how serious he really is. but hey, this is how it has to work. I would think that no one in NJ is immune and so that's a good thing cause maybe everyone will hunker down, do their jobs, do what is expected of them for the people who elected them. When you come into town with your white hat and no nonsense attitude and if people think you are "going to clean up the state" then a lot of the state gets cleaned up all by itself when people realize their jobs really are on the line.

Outside of the cities jersey is a very red state. You can tell deep down that Christie loves this place, and he's tired of democrat jerkoffs shitting in his backyard. 177 Here's something on the 401K theft the Obama administration is considering, it's from Oct 2008. Unfortunately the link is dead, it was to George Miller's committee on Labor Education it's been removed, I happened to have cut pasted it to a friend in an email 2 years ago:
Thelink goes to the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Labor Education, chaired by Democratic Representative George Miller of California. The witness who provided the moststartling testimony was Dr. Teresa Ghilarducci, Professor of Economic Policy Analysis The New School for Social Research, she's the fourth link down on the page. http://tinyurl.com/3ldgjt Here's a paragraph from her published testimony:

Short term, I propose that since 401(k) accounts and the like are financial
institutions -- the bank about where 38% of the workforce

2 can intend to save for their

retirement -- Congress let workers trade their 401(k) and 401(k) - type plan assets
(perhaps valued at mid-August prices) for a Guaranteed Retirement Account composed
of government bonds (earning a 3% return, adjusted for inflation). When the worker
collects Social Security, the Guaranteed Retirement Account will pay an inflation
adjusted annuity, based on the accumulated funds.

She seems to be suggesting that the 401(k) system be abolished and the funds currently in 401(k) plans be absorbed by the Social Security system.

178 I noticed this when people started bitching about the weight of the
Surgeon General. A look at her resume shows she spent her evenings
giving poor (black...) people free/reduced care at a charity clinic.
Lefties would prefer she spend her evenings on a treadmill, helping no
one.

Remember back when C. Everett Koop (sp?) was Surgeon General and he released his report on smoking? Do you think many people would have taken him seriously if he chain-smoked his way through Congressional testimony? Role models in predominately symbolic positions have power which is diminished by a "do what I say, not what I do" hypocrisy apparent at first glance. I never said she had to hit the treadmill, but if she decreased her caloric intake she'd present a lot better model for the country.

You're accepting the lefty premise that unelected figureheads are "role models" for us unwashed schlubs and they should get to tell the rest of us how to live?

You also conveniently ignored my point. Pick up a second shift at the free clinic, or go to Whole Foods and buy a whole bunch of raw stuff that needs to be chopped...what will make the world a better place...

186 You're accepting the lefty premise that unelected figureheads are "role

I don't know that the concept of role models, or proximal zone of development (to throw another log into the fire), are a 'lefty' premise. To accept that I'd have to repudiate my earliest experience in organizations like the Boy Scouts of America and something like 30 credits in psychology and decades of real world business experience.

They can tell me how to live all they want to using someone in a symbolic position. That doesn't upset me, 'cause I will ignore them. It's when they require that you live in some fashion, or tax the hell out of something in the public interest, then I get upset. When the person in a symbolic position is telling me how to live, while obviously not following her own advice, I'm gonna call BS.

188 I found this on KYW1060 website.
"The chief justice criticized the move. And Senate president Democrat Steve Sweeney is stewing:
"The tragedy here is the New Jersey Supreme Court has a wonderful reputation of being independent. Now, for the first time in the history of the state, politics has been injected into it."
The Senate must confirm the nomination to fill the seat held by Wallace, who's the Supreme Court's only black member.
Christie has said he would "remake" the court and would refuse to reappoint those justices who he sees as legislators rather than constitutional interpreters."
A wonderful reputation of being independent -says who, Bob Torricelli?

Sure, one's morbidly obese and the other one is a dwarf. But they are competent and conservative.

203 Governor Christie deserves credit for his decision to replace Justice Wallace. But as a conservative in NJ, this is about the only major thing he has given us to cheer about.
His administration is filled with a number of leftists/Democrats.His budget does nothing at all to rein in spending or cut state government. In fact, quite the opposite;his budget actuallyincreases government. And his state aid cuts are going to cause massive property tax hikes.
Christie is long on rhetoric but short on substance.
