Charge: Eric Massa Only Used Some "Salty Language," Simply Tousled Some Guy's Hair, and Merely Grabbed Several Male Employees' Joints

Plus, he "giggled like a little girl" every time he referred to his "Chief of Staff."

Ba-zing.

Former Rep. Eric Massa (D-N.Y.) has been under investigation for allegations that he groped multiple male staffers working in his office, according to three sources familiar with the probe.

The allegations surrounding the former lawmaker date back at least a year, and involve "a pattern of behavior and physical harassment," according to one source. The new claims of alleged groping contradict statements by Massa, who resigned his office on Monday after it became public that he was the subject of a House ethics committee investigation for possible harassment.

The ghost of Ted Kennedy just emailed me to say, "Piker."

Thanks to DrewM.

Beck Vs. Malkin: Yesterday, I gave Beck the benefit of the doubt, assuming he was just greasing up Massa for the interview in order to use him as a catspaw against Democrats.

But he seems to genuinely think this guy's story is important, as opposed to a fun bit of trouble-making. He gets defensive at Michelle Malkin when she suggests Massa might not be quite on the level.

Oh: But Beck sort of has a point here, if he can manage it without giving credence to Massa's convoluted claims: We would never see these leaks against Massa if he were a Democrat in Good Standing.

It's not so much that Massa is innocent so much as his guilt would be entirely irrelevant to the Democrats and the media if he were voting the right way.

Mark Foley? TopSecretK9 tweets:

Turns out the Democrats sat on this Massa mess for quite a while. Massa is the Democrat Marc Foley.

Two points: First, supposedly it was Denny Hastert sitting on the Mark Foley scandal that hurt the GOP in 2006. (Well, that and the media's round-the-clock coverage.)

Second, this adds credence to the guilty-but-only-exposed-as-such-because-he's-bucking-the-party charge.

CNN and MSNBC Demolishing Massa Before His Beck Interview: Thy Master's Bidding.

Note that, as usual, when a Democrat gets into trouble, it's just one man's crime. There is never a hint from the leftwing media about a culture of corruption here.

Every Republican scandal, on the other hand, is an indictment of every Republican everywhere for enabling it and etc.

It *is* newsworthy to have the person who was at the center of a story to state their case. Wrong. Beck has repeatedly given public credence to Massa's denials and silly cover stories, saying stuff like "Wait until you hear his side of it," a clear endorsement of his credibility.

People like Michelle (and everyone else) are right to prove their own credibility by denying Massa's.

Beck said several times that Massa's alibis and denials were plausible.

Beck has a problem with the hyperpartisan blind spot, where he's way to quick to credit stories that fit his own Narrative without engaging his God-granted inborn bullshit detector.

I don't much care for Beck, but it is rather shrewd of him to give Massa airtime without tearing Massa's weakass story to shreds. Who knows what else will out about Obama Co?

At the very least, we're already hearing rumblings from the democrat side about how these Chicago punks are squandering a mandate because of how they're running the show. This gives Obama supporters a safe harbor to abandon the bandwagon since they can claim to have been fooled by a machine politician.

Or, it could be that Massa was toast because he couldn't quietly settle with the people he's been groping, so he tossed this out into the public political arena. McGreevey did the same thing, and instead of going to prison for appointing his boytoy as a homeland security advisor, he snuck away from it all in the confusion of the legal wrangling over whether to hold a special election. He's in a seminary now.

Massa could be working in concert with the White House to send a message to other democrats looking to cross the administration.

Or, this is all overthinking, and he's just a typical democrat prevert who likes running around and yanking on his staffers dicks.

Michelle Malkin doesn't have to interview Massa, but he was a first-person participant in the allegations, so he is certainly "credible" from that standpoint. He was in a position to know. Just as are Rahm Emanuel and the unfortunate staffers. Most journalists or whatever the heck Beck is would eagerly snatch up the opportunity to interview any of these folks.

I think it is wrong of Malkin to undercut the interview and whatever good (for our side) that may come out of it prior to it taking place. (I suppose Malkin was equally vocal in her criticism of every media
outlet that had Blago on for interviews, although I can't recall her
doing so at the time.) If she had strategy to suggest to Beck, she should have done so privately.

If the likelihood of an potential interview subject having ulterior motives is her standard of who she chooses to interview, fine. She can keep those standards for herself. But I don't think that any damage is done to the conservative movement for Beck (or any media figure) to give Massa a venue to say his piece. The only damage that can come of this is if some overly enthusiastic party officials or Republican congressmen get on the tube and start making allegations of the Obama administration etc based solely on Massa's statements.

"Yep, and dat's de guy dat told me to." Are you going to throw out the hitman's testimony because he killed someone?

He's been a whackjob since day one, and nothing's changed.

And the worst possible thing for Massa's side is to have him interviewed on the air.

When he lies out his ass about groping little boys, then we can all say, "typical democrat."

When he tells stories Obama Co's blackmail attempt, then we can all say, "typical democrats."

She allowed that a segment on the guy would be fine, IIRC.

Furthermore, credibility is important to MM, and her credibility ought to be important to us, too, because if she got tarred as some wild-eyed rightwing true-believer who bought any bullshit story peddled by a deranged pervert, her ability to act as a messenger would be impaired.

So she's making damn sure no one can brand her as that.

Beck was wayyyy too credulous about Massa's stories.

And among the claims Beck vouched for was Massa's claims of actual innocence.

They can paint him as crazy all they want. That will leave them to explain why a Democrat's congressional office was a hostile work environment for a year or so before they decided to do anything about it. Or they can explain why the Democrat congressional office culture there was such that the staffers were too intimidated to report Massa's advances. After all, the Ds have been in charge for more than a year, so they can't blame the Rs for setting the tone.

163 @141I really don't understand this at all. And by this, I mean the creepy
insistence by some that because a figure is popular with or an
important voice for the Tea Party movement, their every word and deed
should be immune from questions or criticisms from the right.

I'm not a Beck fan.

Michelle Malkin can criticize him if she chooses, but if her concern really is with posturing the conservative movement to be the most effective it can be, it would be better to not do it publicly.

Anyone who states that because Massa is a scumbag anything that comes out of his mouth is a falsehood or who suggests that the public is better off not hearing the full story from the principle player in a scandal of this magnitude is playing into the Administration's hands.

Posted by: Eric Massa at March 09, 2010 05:04 PM (Kn9r7)

164 It almost seems as if Malkin wants to occupy entirely the space of right wing corruption hunter. I mean, who the hell is she to tell Beck where and how he should be investigating corruption? Who the hell made her referee? It's not about you Michelle honey.

Posted by: kathleen at March 09, 2010 05:05 PM (2TeHO)

165 Not a chance. People who crave the approval of others (politicians, actors, comedians, etc.) are much more likely to have mental problems. (no proof, just a personal prejudice)
My point concerns something a bit more immediate: Just think what the crime rate would be in that burg.

166 Holy crapola. I'm going to need a shower after this show.

167 You have to hand it to crazy Beck, I bet 90% of Washington is watching his program right now.

I don't know. Most of their crimes are committed when they're at work.

170 Masa was not out hunting underage male interns. Massa only came to Congress 13 months ago. Foley got away with his shit for at least a DECADE. The Dems got rid of him FAST. No Dems stood up in support of Massa See any differences ?

Posted by: Rick Warren at March 09, 2010 05:10 PM (mhD2v)

171 If Beck didn't schedule Massa for his show, then the MSM would have let him skulk away kind of quietly under some vague cloud of scandal. I sincerely doubt that any of these details would have emerged.

Malkin's jumping all over Beck helps to publicize the show.

This is good stuff. Enjoy it. Fan the flames however you can.

What?

We've gone from Don't-criticize-Beck-for-advancing-the-party's-interest
to
don't-criticize-beck-because-it's-not-his-job-to-advance-the-party's-interest
that fast, huh?

I guess the message is "don't criticize beck."

Posted by: ace at March 09, 2010 04:55 PM (jlvw3)
No. I am not a Beck fan. Can I state that enough? I guess not.
I didn't say don't criticize Beck for advancing the party's interest. I don't think the Massa interview has to be in any party's interest in order for it to be newsworthy. Beck thinks it warrants an hour. Malkin doesn't. Beck thinks that leading up to the interview with teasers suggesting Massa has bombshell revelations is a good way to get people to watch. Malkin doesn't.
So what? Beck doesn't work for us.
I think this is starting to be very familiar to the old Rush threads, so I suspect you and I will never agree.

Can you prove that? If not, then don't make the assertion.

Posted by: MikeO at March 09, 2010 05:12 PM (lBmZl)

179 WOW...this is devolving into the absurd. Beck has a commercial enterprise. Sometimes that benefits our side of the isle. Other times his crazy antics are credited to us and it makes mewince, but so what. In the big picture, this is not about Beck or Malkin...it is about what the administration is doing to this country one small bit at a time. The Massa story is part of that.

Posted by: rightzilla at March 09, 2010 05:19 PM (rVJH4)

180 So, anything exciting happening on Beck? I don't have Fox so I can't watch it.

Posted by: Peaches at March 09, 2010 05:19 PM (9Wv2j)

181 In the big picture, this is not about Beck or Malkin...it is about what

The Massa story is part of that.

Exactly! Expose these degenerates for what they are.

Whatever hurts the democrats is good for this country.

Posted by: MikeO at March 09, 2010 05:21 PM (lBmZl)

182 I cut Michelle Malkin a lot of slack on account of she's conservative and good looking. I have a thing for good looking women. Call it a weakness...

Posted by: maddogg at March 09, 2010 05:26 PM (OlN4e)

183 I have to disagree with MM on this one. If Massa appears credible, the dems look bad. If Massa comes across as a loon, he's a dem and the dems look bad.

He needs to be on Hannity tomorrow. When the other side is having a circular firing squad, I'm always willing to give them ammo.

185 We cannot start being like the MSM where the reporters are the story and not the subjectmatter. We watched journalism spiral into just a bunch of interested partisins that pushed their agenda and still do. It is OK if pundits do that...but at the same time, when it is all about the pundit and not the hi-jinx of the dems themselves, we have become one with the MSM.

Posted by: rightzilla at March 09, 2010 05:36 PM (rVJH4)

186 I really don't understand this at all. And by this, I mean the creepy insistence by some that because a figure is popular with or an important voice for the Tea Party movement, their every word and deed should be immune from questions or criticisms from the right. To do less than give voice to full throated support for Glenn freaking Beck in public and keep any disagreements to oneself is somehow tantamount to morphing into Rachel Maddow or David Brooks?
You're really stretching it. The question is: what purpose does it serve for to infight when it's not a Republican party matter? Staying the hell out of it is hardly giving "full throated support" toanyone, and may piss people off for no useful purpose/ to your detriment.

Posted by: Antimatter at March 09, 2010 05:51 PM (gbCNS)

187 To do less than give voice to full throated support for Glenn freaking Beck in public and keep any disagreements to oneself is somehow tantamount to morphing into Rachel Maddow or David Brooks?
Well, that is a bit overstated. It is simply petty to take observations about the messenger and turn it into a party fight instead of just an observation...to make it PART of the story of Massa instead of a vehicle for the story. That's all. Beck is a turd in my book and not that entertaining. Though I do think he is smart, he has an agenda and he is all about that. Good for him. Massa story is not about Beck it is about the admin and Massa. Nothing more, nothing less.

190 You can have your man-harem of ambitious young male staffers under your power and at your disposal. The price of your disposable man-harem is you vote like I tell you.

So basically, Massa didn't pay his Congressional brothel bill and the party repossessed his 'privileges.' That's pimping, isn't it? They 'optioned' Massa's vote with man sex.

covered up by the Democratic leadership until Massa refused to play ball
is all too characteristic of them.
