Director Of National Intelligence: We Didn't Put The Christmas Day Bomber In Our High Value Interrogation Program Because, Uh, We Don't Have One.

The layers of stupidity and incompetence run pretty deep here, so stay with me for a moment (and maybe grab an adult beverage first, you're gonna need it).

Earlier today Denis Blair, Director of National Intelligence testified at a Senate Homeland Security Committee hearing into the Christmas Day Bomb plot that the bomber should have been placed in the administration's interrogation program for high-value suspects but wasn't.

"That unit was created exactly for this purpose," Blair told the Senate Homeland Security Committee. “We did not invoke the HIG in this case. We should have. Frankly, we were thinking more of overseas people. And, duh ... the decision was made on the scene."

Tonight via Keep America Safe we find out that the DNI Blair has changed his story.

My remarks today before the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs have been misconstrued. The FBI interrogated Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab when they took him into custody. They received important intelligence at that time, drawing on the FBI's expertise in interrogation that will be available in the HIG once it is fully operational.

Excuse me? We don't currently have an operational program to interrogate individuals deemed to be of high value? Did Blair not know that this morning? Did he lie? Is he the most incompetent man on the face of the Earth?

Well, it can't be the last one so long as Barack Obama has a job but what about the rest?

How in the world did we go from, "yeah, we should have used that program" to "Program? What program? We don't have a program." in less than 12 hours?

This is the one year anniversary of Obama's inauguration and he and his administration still hasn't replaced the Bush era program they dismantled? Oh but they are so very tough on 'lone extremists'.

Aside from failing to connect the dots to prevent attacks and get as much intelligence from terrorists they capture, the Obama administration is doing a bang up job on national security.

So, a guy from Kenya, coming to Detroit from Amsterdam, isn't considered an "overseas person?"

What's he talking about then? Overseas in New York? Or overseas in Texas?

33 You left out the part where Blair was embarrassed by the fact they weren't searching enough grandmothers.
Blair also said criteria for adding people to the government's "no fly" list was too legalistic and rigid. And he said that in recent years there has been pressure to shrink rather than expand the list because of a cascade of complaints from people getting "hassled" by authorities. "Why are you searching grandmothers?" was a too-common refrain, he said.
"Shame on us for giving in to that pressure," Blair said. Since the Christmas episode, the list has been expanded, he said.

Taking D'oh boy to a flight out of Atlanta. He's an unaccompanied minor wearing a big-assed button stating such. I'm carrying a big-assed pass stating I'm taking him to his gate.

Get to security. Dumb assed woman carrying on a private call on a cell phone pulls me out of line and orders me to stand spread eagled while she wands me. I'm mortified. But the worst is to come. While still carrying on her call, orders me to removed my shoes and sit down. She crouches down and using a flashlight, examines the bottoms of my bare feet. Continues her personal conversation (boyfriend troubles) and waves me through. While I'm sitting in the chair, a swarthy looking guy breezes through and smirks at me.

D'oh boy and I run to catch his flight. Barely make it.

I'm 5'4", blonde and blue-eyed.

Oh, and this was one year after 9/11.

Parents go through, no prob. The USAF guy, who's in uniform, goes through and the metal detector goes off. He goes back, takes off his belt, goes through. Detector goes off again. TSA pulls him aside to do more thorough search.

The whole time my sister is watching this, she says she was thinking, "He's in the freaking AIR FORCE and he's wearing his UNIFORM. Why don't they just let him go?" He was a white guy and didn't look like a certain swarthy man who shot up a base recently.

I know that governor's can be recalled. Can Presidents? Or are we just forced to put up with the incompetence until the next election cycle?

News has been leaking, Eric HOLDER authorized charging this guy in criminal court and miranda-izing him and lawyering him up.

Holder, of course, puts RACE before all. Its why he dropped the charges against the New Black Panther Party (for voter intimidation) when they had ALREADY PLED GUILTY.

Because they were Black and he is Black.

The Crotch Bomber Umarmutallab is of course, Black.

" Savannah has the most suck-ass radio in the nation."

Ah, another person who's never been to SW Michigan.

We do pick up WIND and WLS in Chicago, but that's it.

As far as FM goes, I doubt there is a more mediocre, played out radio market in the entirety of the 50 states, than in SW Mi. They don't understand that we really don't care to hear the same 200 songs for the rest of our lives that they've been playing since we popped out the womb. Can't remember the last time I heard SW Michigan radio, and actually heard something I'd not heard more than 500 times in my life. I'd rather hear a dental drill in my own skull than SW Michigan radio. At least I've heard that only a FEW times.

---

As far as Mike Savage goes: when K.O. had his meltdown rant on TV the other day and said these horrible, horrible, hurtful things about Scott Brown, I was with everyone - I said he's gone too far, over the line, that what he said was indicative of serious, sociopathic insanity.

Then I remembered Mike, and said, there's nothing new under the sun. I still wonder if that's a good comparison, or a reasonable cause for ignoring K.O.'s craziness. Anyone?

170 The rebuttal, from me, would be:
Mike Savage may sound nutzo, but when he says something about someone, he's usually provably right.

Whereas K.O. sounds nutzo and lies his ass off all day.

The main difference. When conservatives sound like they are engaging in mean-spiritedness when they accuse specific liberals of crimes, missteps, shenanigans, and assorted acts of unsanctioned balldippery, it's only because the libs they are accusing are actually doing some really heinous things.

When libs sound like they are engaging in mean-spiritedness, they're usually not only trying to push the envelope of good taste, but the envelope of passable whoppers as well. They lie, lie, lie, lie, lie.

One is mean, the other is mean and RIGHT.

Basically, IMO, if a station goes all day without playing anything that I've not heard a thousand times, there is no good reason for that station to exist, except maybe as a node for the Emergency Broadcast System. Radio used to play new music. I can't remember when. If I want to hear something I've heard before, I'll put on a CD, or go to Grooveshark.

183 "118 tonight Savage said he is going to tell you who refuses to go on his program with its ten million plus listeners. His reasoning is that if they refuse to go on the program they can't win. So far he has said McCain refused and he didn't win and Giuliani refused and he didn't win. So now he will be saying who won't come on the program to talk to the people and he claims without his support they won't win. This is going to be fun to watch."
See, the thing is, Savage has a radio program. If you and the ten million are watching, well, you've got a problem right there.
Secondly, you've bought the idea that Savage has 10 million listeners. No way. 1/10 that , if he's lucky.
Third, Savage is an enormously insecure man. He jeers at his competition, at his listeners ("you won't understand what I'm talking about"), gets the Facts wrong repeatedly (Spitzer was brought down because he was going to "go after" Wall Street" --- never mind that he was Governor when he brought himself down) and has Pissed in His Own Whiskey a thousand times. Ever hear him "interview" anyone? His questions are all canned and very, very short. There's very little back and forth, because he deep down he's shallow.
Can anyone imagine Rush, Hannity, or any of the other heavies shilling for $$ based on their "plight", as Savage does over his problem with the Brits?

184 You expected the interrogation protocol to be operational? Hey it takes a lot of time to translate Miranda warnings into all African dialects and train agents. Priorities, gentlemen, priorities.

188 Hey, I'll head up that HIG thingy. You want them to talk? They'll talk. In these tough times I could us a government sinecure with good benefits and, purely as a perq, I'd get to do something I truely enjoy.

Great comment. It's why I don't listen to the man. To Mike Savage, nobody except him has a brain, everyone is an idiot, there are no great thinkers besides himself, and some old dead philosophers he's read. He's not one to give credit to any living human being for having a good idea. Not very often, anyway.
