| NASA Also (of Course) Hiding Climate Data Under Religious Zealout James Hansen; Another FOIA Suit to be Filed to Compel ReleaseThis researcher has been pressing FOIA claims since 2007. The fight over global warming science is about to cross the Atlantic with a U.S. researcher poised to sue NASA, demanding release of the same kind of climate data that has landed a leading British center in hot water over charges it skewed its data. Chris Horner, a senior fellow at the Competitive Enterprise Institute, said NASA has refused for two years to provide information under the Freedom of Information Act that would show how the agency has shaped its climate data and would explain why the agency has repeatedly had to correct its data going as far back as the 1930s. “I assume that what is there is highly damaging,” Mr. Horner said. “These guys are quite clearly bound and determined not to reveal their internal discussions about this.” The numbers matter. Under pressure in 2007, NASA recalculated its data and found that 1934, not 1998, was the hottest year in its records for the contiguous 48 states. NASA later changed that data again, and now 1998 and 2006 are tied for first, with 1934 slightly cooler. He wants not just the data and the corrections but the discussions that led to the "corrections." He wants, in other words, a record of the believed conspiracy, here. He should have it, of course. If there's nothing to see there's nothing to see. But as far as I know NASA is taxpayer funded, and we all own their workproduct, and everything that goes into it. Comments1
They've been in the shitter ever since they faked the moon landing.

That should have raised all sorts of warning flags about the science in that they had to make two corrections to data of "settled" science. First put the hottest year of the century back to the 1930s, but that didn't support their monetary interests of "we are all going to die unless you pay all this tax so I can have grants" so they moved it back to the 1990s. All too convenient.

As I stated in the other thread, Hansen may be the leaker of the East Anglican data. The release undermines Copenhagen, which Hansen wants to fail, and, curiously, no Hansen emails were released, as far as I know.

Sadly, NASA has a enabler in this Administration. Unless said Administration feels the need to obtain cover. If the brain trust at NASA hears a bus engine, they might wish to reconsider.

Isn't James Hansen the guy that went around telling everyone that would listen that Bush silenced him while running his mouth at light speed? Didn't we have a ton of stories about how Bush was trying to manipulate "global warming" data to show less warming? Why isn't Hansen going around now with his big mouth and showing us the concrete data that Bush was trying to suppress? If you have any questions about NASA, simply ask Sheila Jackson Lee, Congressional armadillo from Texas. During a tour of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Lee, a member of the House Science Committee's space subcommittee, asked if the Mars Pathfinder had taken an image of the flag Neil Armstrong planted there in 1969! This buffoon continues to be elected, and it's a tie between Sheila Jackson Lee and Maxine Waters as to whom is the dumbest skrunt in Congress? Hansen thinks that Copenhagen will simply use "climate change" as a ruse to shuffle off money to Zimbabwe etc. without actually doing anything about "climate change". He is right, of course, but even if they did do something about CO2 it wouldn't help since CO2 is only a minor player in the earth's climate.

From the Washington Times today: Pajamas Media founder Roger L. "In the history of the academy, not to my knowledge has an Oscar ever been rescinded. Something else I've been wondering about: East Anglia University doesn't strike me as one of your top-ranked schools. It's kind of got the "State University AT East Bumfuck" sound to it. Probably scrambling for students and budgets, what with the post-Baby Boomer drop. So they start up a "Climate Research Unit" because it's trendy. As luck would have it, they're first onto the bandwagon, so the CRU becomes a major playa in the new climate hysteria industry. Rah, rah, East Anglia U.!
Of course, it would be highly, uh, inconvenient for E.A.U. if climate change turns out to be nonexistent. So I'm sure the University encouraged its doughty climate researchers in their quest to find bigger global warming and thereby get bigger grants. The rot goes deep. You know, Babs insistence that we call it "stolen emailgate" or whatever nonsense is wrong for this reason. All of the information on the research is public domain because it's funded by money stolen from taxpayers.
So, Phil Jones, Michael Mann, et al, have no expectation of privacy in their communications. So the fact that the emails may have been "stolen" may not protect them from prosecution when it's further revealed they have been doing sex to us. So yesterday I agreed that PJ and MM may not face criminal charges because of "fruit of the poisonous tree" stuff, but that doesn't seem to apply. Any attorneys care to comment? Not entirely OT: I just read Monbiot's ridiculous "Blame the Canadians" article and some of the comments that followed. One fellow left a perfect gem; priceless insight into what truly motivates the Left. And it ain't love of their fellow humans, or animals , or Gaia. Here's lefty talking about the Canuck oil workers: They expect high wages and solid benefits from union jobs that require nothing more than a strong back. I've met some of those hard hats from the tar sands - thick as planks and they make a hundred-grand a year. One guy - 22 years old and a Grade 10 drop-out - made a quarter million running a backhoe. I was a decade in university and I don?t make half that. Those Epsilons are laughing at me! A great confirmation of what we already knew - the Lefties are motivated by spite, envy and snobbery. You can just visualize the pencil-necked dweeb trembling with rage as he remembers the hard hats laughing at his decade of Womyn's Studies courses.

Sarah Palin on Facebook:
The president’s decision to attend the international climate conference in Copenhagen needs to be reconsidered in light of the unfolding Climategate scandal. The leaked e-mails involved in Climategate expose the unscientific behavior of leading climate scientists who deliberately destroyed records to block information requests, manipulated data to “hide the decline” in global temperatures, and conspired to silence the critics of man-made global warming. I support Senator James Inhofe’s call for a full investigation into this scandal. Because it involves many of the same personalities and entities behind the Copenhagen conference, Climategate calls into question many of the proposals being pushed there, including anything that would lead to a cap and tax plan. Policy should be based on sound science, not snake oil. I took a stand against such snake oil science when I sued the federal government over its decision to list the polar bear as an endangered species despite the fact that the polar bear population has increased. I’ve never denied the reality of climate change; in fact, I was the first governor to create a subcabinet position to deal specifically with the issue. I saw the impact of changing weather patterns firsthand while serving as governor of our only Arctic state. But while we recognize the effects of changing water levels, erosion patterns, and glacial ice melt, we cannot primarily blame man’s activities for the earth’s cyclical weather changes. The drastic economic measures being pushed by dogmatic environmentalists won’t change the weather, but will dramatically change our economy for the worse. Policy decisions require real science and real solutions, not junk science and doomsday scare tactics pushed by an environmental priesthood that capitalizes on the public’s worry and makes them feel that owning an SUV is a “sin” against the planet. In his inaugural address, President Obama declared his intention to “restore science to its rightful place.” Boycotting Copenhagen while this scandal is thoroughly investigated would send a strong message that the United States government will not be a party to fraudulent scientific practices. Saying no to Copenhagen and cap and tax are first steps in “restoring science to its rightful place.” Posted by: AmishDude at December 03, 2009 07:55 PM (ItSLQ) 122
