Suspected Police Assassin is Cornered by Police
UPDATE: No He's Not; Suspect Still at Large

Apparently, they tracked Maurice Clemmons to a house in east Seattle around 8:00pm last night, but they haven't moved on him yet. My friend @redhk, who lives a few blocks away from the scene, says the police helicopters hovered all night. A thorough round up is here, including witness statements from the crime that I hadn't seen anywhere else.

UPDATE (8:30AM PST): Police entered the home, but Clemmons wasn't there.

10 Before I found out he was just a violent nutter, I was half-hoping he'd get away with it. The victims were probably good cops, and didn't deserve this. But cops are being increasingly pushed into the role of an occupying army, and when that happens, they're fair game.

I've read that after his sentence was commuted he violated parole and was sent back to the joint and subsequently released in 2004. I wonder if the original commutation had any effect on his release in 2004 or if his parole violation voided the original commutation and his parole in 2004 was totally separate.

44 Apparently his sentenced was commuted and he was released. He violtaed parole and sat in jail for 3 years before prosecutors presented charges on the parole violations. His lawyers argued that was too long and instead of fighting it the prosecutors just dropped the charges so he was not in violation of his parole at that point and had to be released. Then he skipped to Washington.
